Discoverer Desktop 9i - how to find worksheet id

Hi,
I'm using Oracle9i Discoverer Desktop version 9.0.2.0.0.
I miss some information to create the url needed to launch the workbook from internet explorer.
The url is composed in this way:
http://DNS/discoverer/viewer?nlsl=it-it&cn=connection_acronym&wb=workbook&wsk=worksheetID&qp_param1...
I don't know how to get the worksheet ID, can somebody help me?
Is there any other standard way to compose the url?
Thanks for your help.

Hi
I think you will be unlucky because I don't know of a way to get this information in 9i. Even in 10g R2 you cannot get at this information from within Desktop. You have to use Plus.
To find out the unique ID of a worksheet in Discoverer 10.1.2 Plus:
1.Start a Web browser.
2. Run Discoverer Plus and open the worksheet.
3. Choose Edit | Worksheet Properties to display the Worksheet Properties dialog.
4.Display the General tab and look at the value in the Identifier field.
With regards to looking at the options for the URL, take a look at chapter 8 of the 9iAS Discoverer Configuration Guide:
http://download-east.oracle.com/docs/html/A95458_02/urlstart.htm#1004903
I hope this helps

    Hi,
    There is no direct way to generate PDF from Disco Desktop. However, you can install a PDF converter and use Disco Desktop to print to the PDF converter print device.

  • Discoverer Report: How to find Business Area name from Report Name.

    Hi
    I opened a report in Disco Desktop 4 -> Resonsibiolity --> Report Name.
    So I know Report name but don’t know which Business Area it belongs to.
    How to find Business Area Name from Report Name?
    Cheers
    Vijay

    Hi,
    There is no relationship between reports and business areas. Each report can be built from many folders. Each folder can be in many business areas.
    However you can try the following SQL which may give you the result you want for an v5 EUL. You will have to modify for Discoverer 4 EUL:
    select distinct doc_name, obj.obj_name folder_name, bas.ba_name
    from eul_us.eul5_documents doc
    , eul_us.eul5_elem_xrefs xref
    , eul_us.eul5_expressions exp
    , eul_us.eul5_objs obj
    , eul_us.eul5_ba_obj_links bol
    , eul_us.eul5_bas bas
    where xref.ex_from_id = doc.doc_id
    and doc.doc_name = &your_report
    and xref.ex_to_id = exp.exp_id
    and obj.obj_id = exp.it_obj_id
    and bol.bol_obj_id = obj.obj_id
    and bas.ba_id = bol.bol_ba_id

  • How to use Oracle OAB Fast Formulas in Discoverer-desktop [ for reporting]

    Hi,
    Can anyone tell me how to use a fast formula in discoverer-desktop [for reporting]. Currently, we have a disco-report that calcuates the 'monthly salary', but we don't want to use that. Instead, we have a custom fast-formula [xx_oab_monthly_salary] which has the conditions and calculations that we need.
    I want to use that formula in discoverer-desktop directly and get the monthly-salary.. i.e., someone needs to create a folder under the business area and add it i believe.. the formula internally calls a function.
    when i checked about this with my dba - he said, he can add the 'function', but not the formula. and i need to write the calculation part...
    does anyone know how to add it...there shud a way right...
    i do not have access to the technical-stuff here..
    someone said ["you can wrap the FF_EXEC.run_formula call into your own pl/sql function and map this function into the EUL so that the formula can be called from a workbook.", but this talks about pl/sql-do we need pl/sql
    for this].
    also, someone else said [ some fast formulas need specific contexts to be set. Depending on whether the fast formula below the only fast formula that you want to recreate in Discoverer.
    For a single formula, in general my recommendation is to recreate the fast formula instead of using the ff_exec call].
    any quick answers greatly appreciate..
    thx,

    Hi,
    That's right you need to develop the pl/sql function outside of Discoverer using a pl/sql tool or just SQL*plus. I haven't an example to hand, but can dig one up if you need it. Once you have the function developed you can map it into the EUL using Discoverer Administrator. It will then be available to Discoverer Desktop/Plus as a database function when creating calculations. So you can then just add the calculation to an existing or new report.
    Alternatively, you can build the pl/sql function into a view and load the view into a new folder using Discoverer Admin.

  • How do I re-download my iphoto library if I can no longer find iphoto on my desktop or in my finder without loosing all of my photos?

    How do I re-download my iphoto library if I can no longer find iphoto on my desktop or in my finder without loosing all of my photos?

    How did you install it in the first place? If it came with your Mac, and the Mac didn't come with Lion installed, then reinstall iLife from the Applications disc that was in the box. If you no longer have that disc, you'll have to order a replacement from Apple customer service. Either that, or restore the iPhoto application from your backups.
    If you got iPhoto from the App Store, you can download it again by launching the App Store application.

  • How to find out PL/SQL function usage in Discoverer workbooks?

    We have to make changes to one PL/SQL function that has been registered in Administrator. Is it possible to find out in which reports the function is used? The function is called in calculations and it returns certain time information. We have to add one argument to the function and therefore have to change calculations where the function is called. We have too many workbooks to manually check them all.
    I am aware how to find out which folders and items are used in workbooks but can't find the same information about functions. We are using Discoverer 10.1.2.2
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
    If you calculation is in the EUL you can look at the item dependencies, but if your calculation is in the workbook there is no way other than using the workbook dump (d51wkdmp.exe) utility or opening the workbook and manually checking.
    You might want to consider overlaying the PL/SQL function definition so that there are 2 variants of the function. You can then add the extra parameter as an optional parameter in Discoverer. The correct variant will be called depending on how many parameters are used.
    Hope that helps,

  • How to find desktop background image file

    I am preparing an old PowerBook G4 laptop to be sold. I had previously lent it to a friend and I am selling it to another friend. The friend to whom I lent it asked me for the desktop image file so he can use it as his desktop on the Mac he owns.
    I shot that photo years ago and I can't find the original .jpg for it, so I am hoping that I can find the desktop version of it before I finish preparing my PowerBook for sale. I have searched everywhere, but that image file does not show up on the PowerBook.
    I figure that since I can see the photo when I am logged in, it must be somewhere, but where? I originally had it in iPhoto, but it was deleted from there at least two years ago. This PowerBook only has one account, so there's not a lot of places to look through.
    If anyone has any pointers on how to find an image file on a PowerBook running Mac OS X 10.4.11, please let me know.

    HI Stanely,
    Try going to System Preferences/Desktop&ScreenSaver. Click the Desktop tab. Now, go thru the folders listed there to see if the image shows up there. If it does, then go to Spotlight and type in the name of the folder where the image was. Spotlight will populate a list for you. At the top of the list click where it says: Show All. A pane will open. Look for the folder, then on the right click the little white circle with an "i" in it. That will give you the path to find the folder where the image resides.
    You can search Spotlight by typing in these extensions: jpg tiff png pict gif bmp psp that's another way to search for an image.
    Also, open a Finder window and look in the Sidebar on the left. Click where it says: Pictures. Might be in there also.

  • I keep taking screen shots but they dont show up on my desktop and i dont know how to find them

    helppp
    i keep talking screen shots but they dont show up on my desktop and i dont know how to find them!

    I have the same problem. One of the reliable things about Apple OSX, that we could count on screenshots being simple. Then DropBox came along. I suspect DropBox is the culprit here. I don't mind, even am grateful if DB captures my captures, but who gave them permission to totally changes my whole universe!!?

  • How JFileChooser finds the Desktop and can browse CIFS(SMB) in windows.

    Hello.
    I'm currently using serveral methods from FileSystemView used by JFileChooser to detect if a File is a system root, a floppy, or to find the "My Documents" folder under windows.
    JFileChooser however is also able to provide a link to the desktop. How do I get that location from Java?
    Further more. JFileChooser is able to browse and use resources located on the network using CIFS(SMB). I've searched through JFileChoosers source. But I can't figure out how it does this.
    I'm currently writing a Folder synchronization app. As you can see in the screenshot ( http://users.telenet.be/greenhouse/Screenshot-7.png ) I'm trying to integrate the location browser (Look based on the GTK file browser) more into windows. I want my users to be able to browse CIFS just like in the JFileChooser. How do I do this?
    The reason I'm writing my own browser is because the GTK one provided in Java is more then lacking. And I can provide browsing for remote resources more easily (like SFTP and SCP)
    In short:
    *JFileChooser however is also able to provide a link to the desktop. How do I get that location from Java?
    *JFileChooser browses and uses CIFS in windows. How do I do this (without a 3th party library) the same way as JFileChooser does it?

    JFileChooser fr = new javax.swing.JFileChooser();
            FileSystemView fw=fr.getFileSystemView();
            defaultfolder = fw.getDefaultDirectory().getPath();
           String desktopfolder;
            if(System.getProperty("os.name").startsWith("Windows")){
                for(File tmp:fw.getRoots()){
                    dekstopfolder = tmp.getPath();
            }That piece of code gives the path to the desktop folder in Windows. In linux it returns root. (getRoots();) How horrible.
    I hope I'm going about this the wrong way. Because this would be an ugly Java API.

    How to Use Discoverer Desktop without Database User ?
    Suresh

    You'll need to have access to some sort of database account to use the tool. If you just loaded the tool onto a machine, Disco is not going to be useful - you need to create an end user layer, and business areas.
    I suggest you start here:
