Discoverer Export

I am trying to export a report I created in discoverer viewer and plus to excel.
The problem is I am exporting it in excel pivot table and I have to enable macros to keep the format. (pivot table format)
The problem however is:
1) the calculations I made in plus and viewer is wrong in excel after exporting
Any ideas?
Thanks

  • Problem with GuardianEdge and Discoverer export

    We're having problems doing XLS or SLK exports out of Discoverer Plus 10g and appears to only be happening on PCs where the GuardianEdge encryption product has been installed. In fact, we can export to a shared drive (i.e. server not protected by GuardianEdge) and the export works fine -- even from those PCs where GuardianEdge has been installed. So therefore GuardianEdge is our prime suspect at the moment.
    When we try to save to our GuardianEdge protected PC, we get the message "Export Failed". You then can't do anything except exit. It appears to sever the connection to the server. You get the standard "contact the administrator" error when you try to do something (or even when you exit).
    Is anyone else having this problem? Does anyone have any ideas how to go about figuring out a resolution to this isse? Any ideas on what is going on between Discoverer and GuardianEdge?
    Thanks!

    Hello,
    Open the report up and add a sort to the ID field, CR will sort the matching row data with the id so when exported it too will be sorted and alined properly.
    If you want to do this in code then post to the [.NET SDK forum|SAP Crystal Reports, version for Visual Studio;.
    But PLEASE search first in forums and in our knowledge base, someone has likely already asked and an answer has been given.
    Another place for lots of samples is here:

  • Oracle Discoverer - Export report as PDF

    Using Oracle Discoverer Desktop 10.1.2.1 with Adobe 7 installed. We do not see an option to export as a PDF file. It was my understanding this should be an option. Is there a way to add PDF as an export option?

    Hi,
    You cannot export to PDF from Discoverer Desktop, however, you can use Discoverer to print to the Adobe PDF Converter print device which will generate the Discoverer report in PDF format.

  • Discoverer export takes a lot of time

    HI All,
    "DB Version is Oracle 11g r2" and "OracleBI Discoverer Viewer Version 10.1.2.48.18" . We are trying to export the data to our local machines which takes infinite time. And finally we end up running the sql query in toad and save-to-excel.
    I have tried to check in oracle documentation and googled also.. but did not find much info on this,. Please suggest.
    Regards
    KK

    Hi ,
    I am trying with both.
    Also , i have chcked it from directly logging into the server through VNC to rule out network gaps. But its taking almost infinite time before it errors out.
    Though i have raised an SR with oracle , they are not very helpful here as its an unsupported version. Can you suggest some parameter to improve upon the export rate.
    I would use csv/xls which ever comes faster.
    A check has been done with viewer only. I would try to check with desktop edition as well and update.
    Thanks for the idea :D

  • Discoverer - Exporting Incorrect Parameter Values

    Hi there
    I am using the &Parameters keyword in the Title of my Discoverer worksheets. If I run the worksheet, the &Parameters is replaced with the value of the parameters I am running the report for.
    However, if I export my worksheet to Excel, the &Parameters keyword displays the default values of my parameters, not the values I am running the report for.
    Has anyone come across this problem before and if so, know how to fix it?
    Thanks a lot
    Norah

    I haven't heard of this 'feature' before but entirely possible.
    1. are you exporting to Excel all worksheets in one operation or just one worksheet (and changing this makes no difference?)
    2. are you exporting to Excel by the Excel icon on screen or through File -> Export?
    3. have you tried exporting to html and then inputting into Excel? (not the best but just a thought)
    4. by any chance can the value(s) you want be put on the page -> item level instead as that may work
    5. likewise, if an item is on the page -> item level, then you can put that item in the title if desired (by just putting a & in front of the item name)
    Not a direct answer to your problem - apart from the usual "check if a bug on metalink, log a TAR, etc" - but maybe you can adjust to a different method to get what you want.

  • Discoverer Export to Excel but Using Open Office

    Hi,
    I used to use MS Excel as my spreadsheet but I have migrated to using Open Office's Calc. All works fine except....
    Previously, exporting my Discoverer work sheet results to Excel allowed MS Excel to open up the exported spreadsheet with all formatting intact.
    However, I am unable to replicate this using Open Office (latest version). The exported spreadsheet opens ok, no errors are displayed.... but... all formatting is lost.
    Anyone know if its possible to open up the exported spreadsheet in Open Office and retain formatting?
    Thanks in advance,
    Rob

    Hi Srini,
    Thanks for the update - I'd already seen that link, but we aren't using OBIEE.
    And as for support, I am also pretty sure it isnt - otherwise I would have raised an SR.
    Hopefully, given the umbrella Open Office is distributed under now, it will be supported eventually (though I won't hold my breath!).
    I guess we'll just install Excel on the PC's that need the functionality.
    Thanks again,
    Rob

  • Discoverer Export Problem - Column headers dropped & row data used instead

    In Discoverer 9i, when I export the data for a 12 month period from one of my workbooks to Excel 2002, three of the twelve column headers are dropped in the spreadsheet and one piece of row data is used as a column header instead. The total number of records exported for the workbook is 33586 which is below the export limit for Excel. This problem does not happen when 11 months of data (28174 rows) is exported out to Excel. Any idea what may be causing this?
    Regards,
    Andrew

    pallen,
    As usual the Express VI has its limitations.  It seems to be setup for a 2D array of info in this case.  The best way I've found is to name range in template and use the Excel Easy Table.vi.

  • Discoverer: Export to Excel not working properly on XP sp2

    Hi,
    In Discoverer, after exporting to Excel the spreadsheet should be displayed automatically. It works fine on Windows 2000, XP sp1, but not on XP sp2.
    Any suggestions on how to fix that problem?
    Thanks,

    Sonal,
    Did you try using the context menu to export the results?
    I faced the same problem. I could not export using the export functionality but worked when i used the context menu.
    Left click on any result area --> Enhanced Menu --> Export to.
    hope this helps

  • Discoverer - Exporting to PDF

    Hi ,
    I am trying to export a data within a table and its graph to PDF . I recieve an error message that the graph size must be smaller than the page size minus the left and right margins . The error reffers me to "Printable PDF" settings . There i adjust the graph size to the mazimum possible and export successfully .
    1. Problem is - after every log-in I must repeat these steps . Is there a way to save these settings ?
    2. In the same session I run a couple of reports and change some of the values . Can I as a user set some of the values to appear after the re-run and avoid re-entering them after the 1st run ?
    Thanks

  • How to copy workbooks from Discoverer 4i to 10g

    Hi guys
    Can somebody please help me. We've rolled out Discoverer 10G for users that are running on windows Vista (I believe that 4i does not work on Vista, please correct me if I'm wrong). We're still using Discoverer 4i for the users running on windows XP. We have migrated all our existing workbooks from 4i to 10G. The problem is when we create new workbooks, we currently have to create them on both Discoverer 4i and 10G. This is time consuming for us and I'm sure there is a way to just copy/migrate that newly created workbook from 4i to 10G.
    Does anybody know how to do this or is there a document.
    Thank you for all your help.

    Hi,
    You can move the workbooks by using a Discoverer export/import from Administrator.

  • Image in report from discoverer

    I've a table with a blob to store an image.
    In a report, resulted from a discoverer export, i want to put that image in each record (results in 4 images by page)
    Is it possible ? how ?

    Pámané

    just create a query like this:
    select id, image_name, image
    from tablethen your XML output would be like this:
    <ROWSET>
         <ROW>
              <ID>1</ID>
              <IMAGE_NAME>kljkla</IMAGE_NAME>
              <IMAGE>Lots of characters that represents the BLOB</IMAGE>
         </ROW>
         <ROW>
              <ID>2</ID>
              <IMAGE_NAME>jdkwel</IMAGE_NAME>
              <IMAGE>Lots of characters that represents the BLOB</IMAGE>
         </ROW>
         <ROW>
              <ID>3</ID>
              <IMAGE_NAME>oled</IMAGE_NAME>
              <IMAGE>Lots of characters that represents the BLOB</IMAGE>
         </ROW>
         <ROW>
              <ID>4</ID>
              <IMAGE_NAME>mlish</IMAGE_NAME>
              <IMAGE>Lots of characters that represents the BLOB</IMAGE>
         </ROW>
    </ROWSET>in your RTF you put this:
    <fo:instream-foreign-object content-type="image/jpg" width="251.8pt" height="174.3pt" xdofo:alt="picture"><xsl:value-of select=".//IMAGE"/></fo:instream-foreign-object>the attributes width and height are optional

  • About  how to export excel pivot tables

    Hello all!
    I am currently working with the "help" of an oracle consultor from Oracle (Consulting) Spain, but she (and no one of her working mates) is not able to give me an answer about my doubt.
    The problem is: I know that Oracle Discoverer plus is able to export oracle Olap crosstabs automatically to excel pivot tables. It must do it in some way, but no one, here in Spain, is able to tell me how.
    I suppose Oracle engineers have developed a Java Api to do it, but , in Spain, it is useless trying to get this information from Oracle (an this is not because this is a "top secret information" , this is just because they do not know their products, just it!).
    The only help that I had from them regarding this issue was a reference to Jexcelapi. I do not want to reinvent the wheel, thus why I am trying to get any help from you. Please, you are my last chance!
    Does any body know how discoverer exports Oracle Olap crosstabs to excel pivot tables?
    Than you very much for your help in advance.
    Best regards,
    Miguel A. Vico.

    Hello again!
    Yes , you are right, but that is not my problem; my problem is that I need to do what Discoverer does, but using Oracle BI beans technology. An this technology gives me no chance to do it .
    BI beans exports to CSV and Excel format , but not to excel pivot tables, and I would need to do it .
    Could you tell me what is the API, Discoverer uses to get this job done?
    Best regards,
    Miguel

  • Iexplorer setting that would cause export of xls error "Could not open ..."

    We have a situation where the same user, on two different machines, gets two different results. The user is attempting to export to xls. We are using Discoverer 10g viewer.
    On machine one, the error (Could not open https://server.co.net/discoverer/export/test.xls) prompts when attempting to open or save the exported xls. On maching two, the xls can be opened or saved with no problem. I'm guessing it is a security setting within iexplorer.
    Any thoughts...
    Thanks,
    Jamie

    The quick solution to the problem was to login to XP as an administrator, backup the user profile, remove the user profile, log off, have the user re login (basically recreates profile with latest certificates and security settings), update new profile with backup data (favorites, my documents, etc...), and now all is fine. Not sure which certificate or security setting was causing the problem, but now user has the most up to date profile.

  • Discoverer and OWB

    Hi All,
    I'm sorry about my question, but I'm new in Oracle's BI World. I'm trying to create a data warehouse with OWB and then access it with Discoverer. I created my data warehouse without problems. But I can´t export it to Discoverer. How can I do this? I already read some materials about, but no one like "HOW TO". Anybody can help me?
    Best regards,
    JV.

    I do this a lot and it is really quite easy, though maybe not the most intuitive. Assuming you are using OWB9.2 then you need to create a Collection for the Discoverer business area in OWB. You then use the Project->MetadataExport->Bridge menu option and then select Discoverer as the destination product. After setting parameters for the Discoverer destination EUL it creates a Discoverer export file. You then just import this in the Discoverer Administrator.
    If you are using OWB9.2, then look at Part V, section 22 of the OWB9.2 User Guide (particularly the section "Exporting Metadata to Oracle Discoverer 4i and 9i").
    Regards
    Dave
