Hi all,
I am registering 2 function with the Discover Administrator ,do i need to refresh the bussiness area?will it produce any error, if i am not refreshing ,if so can you please tell me what error it will give?

Hi Senthil,
After you click ignore, the workbook/worksheet opens but does not show data. (I dont know what version of Discoverer you are using) Go to the page layout of the worksheet (Try Edit > Worksheet from the menu).
Look at what items are used in the worksheet. Go back to Discoverer Administrator. See if those items are available in the business area.
If not, you should either edit your worksheet to delete the missing item or replace it with the correct/changed item.
If you are new to Discoverer, I suggest you go through some discoverer tutorials at:

I have installed oracle 10G database on win xp

password - welcome
then i have installed oracle discoverer on same machine ie windows xp ....
but when i click on discoverer desktop
it asked me to connect ....what should i put in
username
password
connect ...
if i put sagar username and password --sagar and connect as database name it gives me error ORA-12154 error ....
i have created a user in oracle at SQL> and it is giving me login ...to database ...but not through discoverer.............

Hi
You don't have an EUL installed, but before you can do this you need to install the the Discoverer Administrator tool (it should be on the same CD where you got Desktop from and goes into the same Oracle Home). After this you need to create a user in the database for your End User Layer (EUL). This done, you log into Discoverer Admin as that user, create install your EUL and then create your first Discoverer business area.
Here's a script for the EUL user:
Admin User:
create user &username identified by &password;
grant connect, resource to &&username;
grant alter any materialized view to &&username;
grant analyze any, create any materialized view to &&username;
grant create procedure, create role, create sequence to &&username;
grant create session, create table, create view to &&username;
grant drop any materialized view, execute any procedure to &&username;

grant select any table, unlimited tablespace to &&username;
grant execute on sys.dbms_job to &&username;
grant select on sys.v_$parameter to &&username;

Reports in discoverer - help needed

hi,
I have a question:
is it possible in discoverer:
a) put 2 or more queries/tables on one sheet
b) use query results in header of a report
eg I would like to make sth like this: (bold are data that I would like to retrive from db):
Address: Poland, Warsaw
name: jakub
surname: sitek
has to pay: 1234123123
how to do it??? : select * from table_name where name = 'jakub'
and here a ordinary discoverer table
or something like that
here one table here another table
and here yet another one
and here eg crosstab
I know such things can be done with business objects, but I would like to do it with discoverer.

Can Help Text be part of an exported PDF?

i chose Training Feedback as my template of choice and i am done, except i'd like to include the Help Text which is viewable in test mode etc, but when i export the pdf it's gone. what am i doing wrong?

I'd agree that it isn't the most user friendly, discoverable "help" but is the way Help text works for forms in Acrobat. For FormsCentral that is what we get.
If the text is important enough to ensure all users see it maybe include it inside of the label for the field. You can format all text in the label uniquely so the help stands apart, you could use a different size/font/color etc to identify the Help text.

IE Support for Discoverer4i Plus Java Client

Hello all.
I have Discoverer nicely installed. I tried using the IE Plus client and the application comes up, but I get a ClassLoader error? I try the exact same thing with Netscape and JInitiator, no problem. I tried this with IE 5.0 and 5.5. Seems the JVM may only be up to 1.1.4 if you look at the discoverer help about screen.
Any ideas or workarounds? Can I use JInitiator in IE as well?

Always start songs at the beginning?

I sometimes use my iPod for music at parties I throw. If I have been playing it for myself, and stop it in the middle of a song, when it comes to that song during a party it starts in the middle - where I stopped it. And that just sounds stupid.
How do I make it always start at the beginning of every song?

I was under the impression that 'Remember Playback Position' set the order in which songs were played, and since I want to preserve that, I do have it turned on.
My experience is that it does work this way, and if I don't have it turned on then the songs default to alphabetical order by title.
Am I confused here?
Is there some other option that preserves the order of the songs?
Is there some discoverable help file that explains the 'Remember Playback Position' option?

Error in week number while running a discoverer reports. URGENT HELP NEEDED

Hi All,
we had a requirement of getting the week number for the given date in one of the columns. Here the start date of the year was not always 1-jAN so we had to create a function which returns the week number as an output.
The problem that we are facing is we are using the Discoverer 4.1.41.05 both at my end and user end. While i am trying to run the report i am getting the right output but while with the same login id when user is trying to get the output he is getting correct data till the data in year 2009 and from 2010 onwards the answer for the week number is coming in lacks. I had suggested the user to re-install the discoverer but still the issue is there.
If someone know something about this than please reply to the thread and also mail me on [email protected]

I might be late in replying, but hope it might help.
From your query it seems you are inserting records into interface tables and then calling process order API( probably from some PL/SQL block).
This is where I am confused, because I hope you understand, that interface tables are for use with Order Import concurrent Program, and for Process ORder API, you need to provide the data as parameter. The api has, header record type and line table type as parameters. So you need to assign correct data to these variables and pass them as parameter when you are calling Process Order API.
If you are doing the same thing, then post the exact pl/SQL code and error message from the API. That might help diagnose the issue.

Help in Installing Oracle Portal,Forms,Reports and Discoverer(11.1.1.2.0)

Hi,
I am trying to install Oracle Portal, Forms, Reports and Discoverer 11g (11.1.1.2.0) for Linux x86-64.
I have installed weblogic 10.3.5 generic jar file.
When i try to install forms and reports server the configuration step fails while creating weblogic domain.
Please help me installing portal and reports.
Is there any patch i am missing or the weblogic version is incorrect?

You cannot configure Fmw 11.1.1.2 against WLS 10.3.5. They are not supported nor compatible.
If you want to use WLS 10.3.5, you need to "install" 11.1.1.2, but do not configure. That is an installation option. After you have successfully installed 11.1.1.2 you will need to patch it to 11.1.1.6. After patching, you then can run the configuration (config.bat).

Running Discoverer reports into portal using SSO portal login - help

Hi,
I am trying to run disco reports into oracle portal using discoverer portlet providers -list of worksheet. What I want to achieve is as follows
1) login to portal using SSO userid /pwd - Done
2) Enable discoverer for SSO - Done
*3) Use discoverer list of worksheets to show reports into portal but want to filter the list of worksheet to currently logged in portal user. This so that users looged in only sees the reports to which they have access in discoverer - Need Help*
*4) Once user runs this report then I want to filter the discoverer data based on users login or portal group - Help*
Can someone please help with issue no 3/4 urgently.

Assuming I have created the private connections using CAPI I still have my doubts as follows
Do I have to then login as each portal user and add the list of worksheet portlet for each user and selecting
"check the box called Display a different list of worksheets by allowing users to customize database connection and then check Show a default list of worksheets using connection, changing the connection to user's connection."
Considering we have 500+ users this will be huge cumbersom task for me.
Also when I tried to do this before loggin as each portal user when I logged in as second portal user I could see the list of worksheet portalet added by the first user which means I have to edit it but even that was not possible because it would not let me edit as only the page own whi created the portlet was allowed to edit (that is the first user)
OR
Do you have to give portal user permission to edit the page so that they can log on themselve to add the list of worksheet portlet on the page by selecting their private connection and selecting
"check the box called Display a different list of worksheets by allowing users to customize database connection and then check Show a default list of worksheets using connection, changing the connection to user's connection."
Finally I know someone has made it work using URL links and it works as follows
1) Map the portal and disco user into a table
2) Create disco private connections
3) when portal user loggs in and click on "Show my discoverer report" it then runs a PL/SQL package which in turn identifies the private connection details and creates a URL out of it as follows
[http://portal.ccm.ac.uk/discoverer/app/partialConnect?password=IRTIMUDV123_=qplus=VDUMITRI=browser_selected=connect=RELATIONAL=QPRIS=viewer]
clicking on this link open discoverer with private list of workbook/worksheet.
Please advise which way should I follow.

OWB 10.2 - deploying to Discoverer 10g - HELP with cryptic error message

Hi all,
Does anyone know what the helpful message below is trying to tell me about my deployment to Discoverer? The validations all pass. The generation is error free. The execution gives the following as "INFORMATIONAL" - however, the EUL is not generated because the error appears to be fatal.
How can I lookup the object based on the identifier below? The message sucks.

Replying to myself. I'm still not at all sure what the error means but I encountered it when I had selected "match objects by name" rather than object id prior to deployment.
Setting it back to object id allowed the deployment to the EUL to work. Still, something seems wrong there.

Here the problem is I have the mandatory parameter "Period" and "Operating Unit", optional parameter "Order Type" and "Inventory Organisation". Order Type and Inventory Organisation are not passed in partition. That's why I am getting incorrect result.
Could anyone pls help how is that possible in Discoverer?

Hi,
Maybe you want to partition by the optional parameters only when they have been entered by the user. But you cannot do this because the partitioning is part of the query and cannot be changed by the parameters.

Urgent help with discoverer 4i installation

Hi All, I just started working on a discoverer upgrade process. I need help in installing discoverer 4i and them refering to a 10g database. Can any one guide to a reference doc which I may refer to finish the complete install. In other words I need to configure discoverer 4i so that we can do development. I have downloaded the admin, desktop and the 3201601 patch for 4i as well.
Not sure if they dont know it or they are not interested in it.
I have been working as a disco admin and developer for quiet some time now but dont know how to install and do the configuration.

Hi Paul,
I hate to tell you, but you should be implementing Discoverer 10g (10.1.2.x) and not 4i. Discoverer 4i is de-supported and I do not think it was ever certified with 10g database.
Check the following MetaLink note for details.

One exception, you mentioned an upgrade. That tells me you are likely on version 3. In which case, you would need to install the 4i EUL to migrate from 3 to 4 and then upgrade to 10g. If you don't have much invested in 3, then it might be a good chance to start clean in 10g. In your case, you install the base 3.1.37 Administrator version on your Windows desktop (that old installer requires it to be the first Oracle product installed and in the default home), then apply 3201601 to bring you to 4.1.48.06, then download and apply 4.1.48.08 (3451630 ).
You can then upgrade the 3 EUL to 4, following the Administration Guide, located on OTN: http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/discoverer.html
Then you can do the same with Discoverer 10G Administrator

Auto login problem in Discoverer -- Urgent Help

Hi All,
I'm trying to call discoverer 4i plus from viewer.
I did auto login for discoverer 4i plus for 9i AS(2.1).It worked
fine. I did the same for 9i AS(2.2).Basically i tried to get
login inforamtion from cookies in webdisc.js file .The edited
webdisc.js like this
var user = getCookie ("Username");
If i remove this line my discoverer 4i plus works fine without
having any problem.if add the above code then i get the
following error
"Unable to connect to the Oracle Discoverer Application server.
Failed to connect to session XXXOracleDiscovererSession4 using
OSAgent."
Any help please..

I installed 9iAS(2.2) on NT. clint is on WIN2000.
Are u using cookies?
In my viewer, i've provided a link to plus. When an user hit
this link it should take the userid from viewer and auto logins
to plus. In viewer, i'm putting the userid and password in a
cookie and reads the information from cookie in webdisc.js(This
is disco plus script file for auto login)
I did the whole process in 9iAS(2.1) it works fine. Only this
version(2.2) i'm getting the error
"Unable to connect to the Oracle Discoverer Application server.
Failed to connect to session XXXOracleDiscovererSession4 using
OSAgent."
I'm interested to know how u did auto login on NT using <PARAM>
tag.

Need Urgent Help on Calculation items issue In Discoverer Plus

Dear Discoverer Experts,
I would need help on the below scenario:
A
147644.08
147644.08
Maximum: 147,644.08
B
142494.65
5149.43
Sum: 147,644.08
C
5149.43
142494.65
0
Here A, B, C are columns and C column is Calculated Item(A-B) and Maximum and Sum are Totals items, everything working fine.
The intent is that I would need the difference between totals items I mean Maximum and Sum , i.e Maximum-Sum (147,644.08 - 147,644.08) =0(in this case), but I am not able to get it, can anyone help me on this that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Tamir for your response, i am getting ZERO
But when i create new calculation item for examle TEST with calculation MAX(A) over () - SUM(B) over ()
then i am getting new column next to C with name TEST and with two rows of data with 0 (Zero)
like this
TEST
0.00
0.00
why am getting two rows of data, and that too can't we get this ZERO under C column at the same Row as MAX and SUM
(Or)
if not possible then after adding coumn TEST next to C column can we get ZERO in the row as MAX and SUM
either way would be fine, can any one hlep on this issue.
