Discoverer hyperlinks to NT server directories?

My customer has asked me if it's possible to create a Discoverer report with a column containing a 'hyperlink' to a server and directory on his network, such that when he double clicks on it he launches Windows Explorer on his PC for the drive and directory he's interested in. For example, he'd like to put something like \\des.grplnk.net\svr2\glkds0026\project as the value in his column. Also he's using Discoverer Plus and Discoverer Viewer, not Discoverer Desktop.
I looked at the 'ProtocolList' preference for Discoverer. I see that Discoverer drill links can be created using the following protocols: HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, mailto,gopher,telnet. Does anyone know, if we altered our Discoverer preferences.txt on the app server, if any of the protocols suggested above would allow him the funtionality he'd like please? I wondered if FTP would do it?
THank you in advance for any help you can offer,
Julie.

Hi Rod,
Have now tried this (had to put quotes round the string '\\des.grplnk.net\svr2\glkds0026\project' when creating the folder item), and with Discoverer Desktop, when you double click in the field in the Discoverer report, Windows Explorer is launched on my PC, displaying the required directory.
That was great, but my customer only has web-based Discoverer. I tried the same thing with Discoverer Plus, and a new Internet Explorer window was launched with error "HTTP 404 - File not found". Examination of the URL in the newly launched window showed that it read 'http://isis-prod.des.grplnk.net/discoverer///des.grplnk.net/svr2/glkds0026/project'
i.e. the URL now consists of the address of the server for our system with Discoverer Plus on the app server with the address of the file server directory location concatenated to it.
Do you believe there is any way of achieving the desired result (launching Windows Explorer on the client PC) using one of the web-based Discoverer tools where Discoverer is installed on an application server and accessed using IE?
I tried entering 'http://des.grplnk.net/svr2/glkds0026/project' into the Address window of Internet Explorer and hitting Go, but got an error from the Company Intranet. Even with my limited knowledge I don't think that's ever going to work with IE without a file name at the end? (It's just a directory and I don't think IE can do anything with that.)
If there is any further help you can offer I would be grateful,
Julie.

    Hi
    I installed Discoverer 3i on NT SP4
    My http server is OAS 4.0.8.1
    I tried single machine install and while providing the directory for Discoverer applet on HTTP Server i gave a directory which is not root directory for OAS
    How do i set virtual path so that discoverer may be configured in my http server (OAS)
    What are the steps?
    Thanks

    Go to the Directories section in OAS. You will already have virtual directories set for OAS. Use one of these as an example.

    You said, "...+I would like to install Release 2(11.1.1.2.0)+ ...". Be careful. 11.1.1.2.0 is not Release 2. The version for Rel 2 is 11.1.2.0, notice that there is one less "1". Also, there is no way to patch from Release 1 to Release 2.
    In EDelivery, this is what you should find if you search on "Oracle Fusion Middleware" for "Microsoft Windows x64 (64-bit)":
    First look for this link then drill into it:
    Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g Media Pack for Microsoft Windows x64 (64-bit)
    In this section you will find the following:
    This is the full product installation of FMw 11 Release 2 (Forms & Reports)
    Oracle Forms and Reports 11g R2 (11.1.2.0.0) for Microsoft Windows x64 (64-bit) V28761-01

    Oracle Portal, Forms, Reports and Discoverer 11g (11.1.1.2.0) for Microsoft Windows x86 (64-bit) (Part 4 of 4)
    This is the FMw 11 Release 1 patch set that will bring the above 11.1.1.2.0 installation to 11.1.1.6.  This is NOT a full product installation - just a patch
    Oracle Portal, Forms, Reports and Discoverer 11g Patch Set 5 (11.1.1.6.0) for Microsoft Windows x86 (64-bit) V29850-01
    There are no patch sets for Release 2 as of yet.

  • Convert path to hyperlink from SQL Server 2000 to JSP

    Hello,
              I have the following fields in my database table:
              report_key           (not shown on JSP)
              report_name           (on JSP)
              path                (not shown on JSP)
              user role/right      (not shown on JSP)
              The "path" field contains a URL to a specific report
              (http://www.home.com/reports/1033.cr). The "report_name" field has a
              numeric name for the report (1033). What I need to do is be able to
              display the html output of the table records (which I have already
              done), but convert the report_name to a hyperlink that the user can
              click on to directly open the report. A hyperlink data type isn't
              available in SQL Server, so I'm not sure how to do this in the JSP.
              Basically, what needs to happen is the table data on the JSP page
              displays the "report_name" (in this case 1033) as a hyperlink, which
              is picked up by the URL path in the "path" field (or appended to that
              path I suppose). So, everytime our reports admin enters a report in
              the table, this new report with its new path will be added to the html
              output on the JSP page. And would look like this:
              report_name
              1033 (appears as underlined hypertext)
              1066
              1099
              1245
              1478
              Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
              TIA,

  • Serving Directories with Authentication via Apache

    Yep, it really is that simple but it's driving me nuts.
    We are setting up an xserve to serve customer data (directories with HTML pages). I'd like to be able to set up a folder for each customer, have them hit our server via http, be challenged for a username and password, and be able to view and browse thier folder contents.
    I've poked around in server admin most of the day (spending a lot of time trying to set up realms with no luck), looked at the Web Technologies Administration document (following directions on page 43 with no luck), browsed the web and this forum and still don't see how I might do this.
    Suggestions on where to look or specific advice would be greatly appreciated and sorry if this is so galactically simple and/or discussed an infinite number of times.
    xerve g5 & others   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    Welcome to discussions!
    Server Admin does a pretty good job of making simple things hard, doesn't it? The only thing more useless is the performance cache.
    Probably the easiest way, unless you have a VERY high volume server, to do what you want would be .htaccess files. In each of the folders that you want basic authentication for it's contents, create a folder with the name .htaccess . In .htaccess the following:
    AuthType Basic
    AuthName "What you want to appear in the popup window"
    AuthUserFile /path/to/a/file/that/has/name/passwds
    require valid-user
    Check out the man page for htpasswd. It will help you make a name/password file for your .htaccess file to reference.

  • Application server directories

    Hi. Is there a way I can check the available directories in the application server? I cannot use AL11 since I am not authorize. Is there any other way to list the existing directories? Thanks.

    Hi..
      You just try to execute this function module it will give you list of directories present in Application server
    <b>   F4_DXFILENAME_TOPRECURSION </b>
    And see this following Example to use this FM
    DATA: c_fnh_mask TYPE dxfields-filemask VALUE '.',
    search_dir TYPE dxfields-longpath VALUE '/sapglobal/users',
    file_path LIKE dxfields-longpath.
    report y_test.
    CALL FUNCTION 'F4_DXFILENAME_TOPRECURSION'
    EXPORTING
    i_location_flag = 'A'
    i_server = ' '
    i_path = search_dir
    filemask = c_fnh_mask
    fileoperation = 'R'
    IMPORTING
    o_path = file_path
    EXCEPTIONS
    rfc_error = 1
    OTHERS = 2.
    IF sy-subrc EQ 0.
    f_app = file_path.
    ENDIF.
    and
      You can use t/code CG3Y to download a file from application server to presentation server and t/code CG3Z to upload a file to a application server from presentation server.
    You can also use this FM GUI_DOWNLOAD or method CL_GUI_FRONTEND_SERVICES=>GUI_DOWNLOAD.
    In the class CL_GUI_FRONTEND_SERVICES you can find others methods, for example:
    FILE_GET_VERSION
    FILE_OPEN_DIALOG
    FILE_SAVE_DIALOG
    GET_COMPUTER_NAME
    GET_DESKTOP_DIRECTORY
    Hope this will help.

  • Changing server directories

    Our installation (converting from Jrun) is on top of IIS4 (NT).
    The default WL directory for serving JSP's is C:\bea\wlserver6.1\config\mydomain\applications\DefaultWebApp
    We want to change it to point to a different directory (which is also an IIS virtual directory) such as G:\sch\eer\www
    All of this is on the same machine, for development purposes.
    What is the best way to accomplish this?
    I've been trying to use iisforward and iisproxy without success.

    Hi.
    I don't think this is possible - WLS 6.x has rather rigid file directory requirements. I believe this is being improved
    upon in the next release of WLS, FWIW.

  • EdgePreload.js and server directories

    It appears that the HTML file that holds the Edge composition must be in the same directory as the projectName_edgePreload.js
    I find this hard to believe.  If I move the file and then in the script tag, modify the path so that the folderName/projectName_edgePreload.js is correctly pointed to...the whole thing falls apart like a house of cards.
    When I first move the HTML file and view my dev inspector, I can see that the preload file cannot be found.  However, when I update the script tag so that it does find it, then the dev inspector panel shows the preload file loads properly but the remaining .js files fail.
    I view the minified projectName_edgePreload.js file, see the list of additional files that are required to load, their relative paths are correct.  They have not changed nor should they as their location to preload is still correct - and yet they do not load.
    If I plan on dropping more that one Edge composition on the same HTML page, then I’d think I’d be allowed some simple control over my web servers directory structure.  If I cannot put 2 Edge comps into their own respective folders, and load onto a single page, then this is a disappointing limitation.
    Am I missing something?

    Hey edgar, you can indeed change the path to all assets. This thread has specific instructions:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/4815288#4815288
    Here are all the places you need to change paths, in order to have ALL Edge assets in a separate directory, in this example called "edgeFiles".
    In "yourEdgeFile.html":
    <script type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8" src="edgeFiles/yourEdgeFile_edgePreload.js"></script>
    In "yourEdgeFile_edge.js":
    var im='edgeFiles/images/';
    * (also note that sometimes Edge doesn't prepend this "im" variable to all images, so you have to go through this file and replace any other references to 'images/' with the "im" variable)
    In "yourEdgeFile_edgePreload.js":
    Change paths to all js files in the "aLoader" array at bottom of file.

  • Oracle Discoverer  on windows server 2008

    I'm looking for oracle Discoverer download on windows server 2008(32 bit). I tried looking on ORACLE.COM but I'm not able to find one.
    Can someone point me...

    Hi
    Here is the link: http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/htdocs/devlic.html?url=/technology/software/products/ias/htdocs/101202.html
    However, you may be disappointed because according to this matrix: http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/ias/files/as_certification_r2_101202.html it does not look like Server 2008 is a supported platform. I would ask Oracle Support to be sure or perhaps someone from Oracle reading this will advise.
    When you get there you need to read the license agreement and then check and click the I Accept button to indicate that you understand and are willing to abide by the agreement.
    Assuming you get the all clear, when you get to the main downloads page if you want the full application server you want the first row, if you want just Discoverer Plus / Viewer you want the row entitled Business Intelligence. You then look across the row for your operating system and then download all of the files that begin with CD. In your case because you are looking for the Microsoft Server version you need the software from the first column headed Microsoft Windows. Incidentally, if you need Discoverer Administrator and / or Desktop then it is also in the Microsoft Windows column and it is called Tools CD.
    After you have installed Plus / Viewer (they both install at the same time) you version will be 10.1.2.0.2. This is the base version. You then need to log into MetaLink and download the 10.1.2.3 patch followed by the latest cumulative patch. This page on my blog will help with patch numbers: http://learndiscoverer.blogspot.com/2008/04/most-useful-patch-numbers.html
