Discoverer report link

Hi guys,
I have created a link to Discoverer report in applications that works beautifully but there is one downside in it. When we invoike the report to launch in Discoverer Viewer it opens in the same browser window. Does anyone know how to make it open in a new browser window? I have looked into ICX: Discoverer parameters and other profile options but could not find anything pertaining to that. Also looked into Function parameters but seems to be missing it. Help, anybody!
Thanks in advance.

  • Scheduled Discoverer report link for viewer in portal

    Hi,
When a link for scheduled report for plus users is created in portal Oracle suggestes the following. This is good since it does not need the run number and the same link will work for all reruns.
    http://<host.domain>:<port>/discoverer/plus?cn=cf_a156&opendbid=SALES_ANALYSIS2&sheetid=42&workbooksource=Scheduled
whereas for opening a scheduled workbook result in viewer the link needs the run number which prevents using the same link for every run.
Do anyone found a way to workaround this
    Thanks for the help
    Jay

    Hi Jay
I can see that you've had this posted for a little while so I thought I would at least let you know that I've read it. I'm afraid the answer is not what you hoped though as I don't know of a way off the top of my head to do what you ask.
    Sorry, regards

  • Links in Discoverer Reports

I am new to Discoverer Reports so i want know, how to implement links in discoverer reports, I have two worksheets/links/pages in a
Discoverer Report, in the first worksheet/page some data will be displayed,
i want to display links for a particular column, if i click on the column value/cell value, it should take me to another page/worksheet with the column value
/cellvalue as parameter to the next page/link.
Provide me a solution for creating this discoverer report.
    Thanks,
    Manju.

    Manju,
I'm not sure which version of Discoverer are you using. If you are using Discoverer 10gR2 then you can follow these steps fot that. I'm assume you want to show header(Eg; PO) information on one sheet and when user click on it you want to show the (PO)line information. Taking the PO report as example follow these steps in discoverer plus.
Create 2 worksheets with the necessary information.Keep the PO Number in both the sheets. Select PO Number then goto Tools-->Manage Links and select the destination workbook and sheet. Give a name to the link. This will give you the information you need but will still show you line level information for all the PO's. Create a condition in both sheets for PO Number go back to edit link and the parameters button is enabled select the PO# parameter there. Hope this helps.

  • How to call discoverer report with parameters over http link?

    Hi!
I'm using oracle application server 9.0.4 (incl. discoverer).
I have an oracle portal report where I want to call a discoverer report for each line over a http link. It is always the same discoverer report - with each line I want to pass parameters to my discoverer report.
How can I pass parameters to the report? Is there another way rather than using GET parameters?
    Thanks
    Markus

    Hi Markus
You need to determine whether you can in fact call a Discoverer report using a URL before linking it in Portal. You need to run the report in Viewer first and then see copy the URL from the address line of the browser. Then you open another browser and paste the URL. You may well be prompted for a username and password but hopefully the correct report with the right parameters will then execute.
Assuming this works you then paste the same URL link into Portal and you should be able to get the report to run.

  • How to link  discoverer report to E-Business  Suite

    Good day
I followed instructions as stipulated in document number doc 278095.1 and doc 433397.1.
However i dont understand the link between the two.Actual im still new in oracle.
If i understand correctly doc 433397.1 is used to register the discoverer workbook to OracleOasis.RunDiscoverer
package and i created the function using this parameter
'workbook=XX_LEAVE_LIABILITY&PARAMFORM=HTML' ....I do not know if is necessary to put the inverted commas.
and assign it to a certain menu .
I have created another function following 278095.1 instructions but i do not know how does the two functions link.
Because for doc 433397.1. the Properties tab TYPE is 'SSWA plsql function opens in new window (Kiosk Mode)
whereas for doc 278095.1 is ''SSWA plsql function'
and the form parameter for doc 278095.1 is ''workbook=XX_LEAVE_LIABILITY&PARAMETERS=sheet~1*' .
The function name is there assigned to a responsibility but i can not access the discoverer report it retuns message "Unable to authenticate session'

    Hi,
The ICX parameters can be updated by going to the System Profile form on the System Administor menu.
Basically, the way the OracleOasis.RunDiscoverer function works is that it checks the ICX profiles from the user and builds a URL to start up Discoverer. It then adds to the end of the URL the workbook details from the form function so that the URL opens the workbook and supplies the parameters to the workbook.
So if the ICX: Discoverer Use Viewer profile is set to Yes then the function takes the URL in ICX: Discoverer Viewer Launcher. Hence you need to check that this URL (which should look like http://<HTTP Server>:<Port>/discoverer/viewer) actually launches Discoverer. The ?Connect=[APPS_SECURE] needs to be added to this URL so that Discoverer is launched without the need to reenter username/password.
It then concatenates the values in the ICX: Discoverer End User Layer and ICX: Discoverer End User Layer Language Override e.g. EUL_US to create the Discoverer EUL owner. The EUL parameter is then added to the URL so that Discoverer is started using this EUL.
Finally, the value in the parameter field in the form function is used to add the worksheet selection and if necessary worksheet parameter selection parameters onto the URL.

  • Discoverer EBS Report Link

    Hi,
How do I setup a function in EBS to launch a Discoverer report, the Discoverer implementation is not using [APPS_SECURE] "security".
    Regards,
    Andries

    Hi,
Your Discoverer implementation has to use an Apps mode EUL (i.e. you login to Discoverer using Applications usernames and passwords) otherwise you will not be able to link to Discoverer without hardcoding the username and password.
If your Discoverer EUL is an Apps mode EUL then you can follow the instructions in Note 278095.1 which explains how to set up a form function that calls the OracleOASIS package to fire up Discoverer.

  • Is it possible to add Attachments or Attachments link in Discoverer Report?

    Hi,
I am trying to create a discoverer report , in my report i need to view the attachments from FND_LOBS table.
Please guide me how it will be possible .
    Thanks in Advance,
    Priyanka

You can create a text slide to add to the slideshow. Creat the slide in any text app you'd like or Pages and then convert that page to a PDF.  To do so with Lion you'll need to go to  Toad's Cellar and download the two files Save PDF to iPhoto 300 DPI.workflow and Save PDF to iPhoto 200 DPI.workflow, and put them in the HD/Library/PDF Services folder.
Then in the application that you're using to create the text slide do a Print ➙ PDF ➙ Safe PDF to iPHoto. The 200 dpi version is sufficient for slideshows.  The 300 dpi version is for items to be used in iPhoto books.

  • Open Pages from Discoverer Report

    Hi,
Is there a way to invoke a webpage or even better, an oracle function (that links to forms or self-service) from a discoverer report row ?
for example, I want a report for employees where the person looking at the report will click on the employee name and is taken straight to the person details page for that employee.
    Regards.

    Hi,
You can create a link to a form function using fnd_run_function.get_run_function_url. You can create a calculation either in a view or using a calculated item in the EUL (you will have to map the get_run_function_url in the EUL to do this). You then set the content type property of the EUL item to FILE so that when the item is selected in the workbook it appears as a hyperlink.
Most forms in apps except parameters so that you can pass the employee id to the form and the form will open up with the employee record. For example, if you are using a seed HR person form you create a calculation,
    fnd_run_function.get_run_function_url(3494      -- PERWSHRG-404
                                         ,800       -- HR
                                         ,fnd_global.RESP_ID     -- caller's responsibility
                                         ,0        -- Business Group
                                         ,         -- Parameters
         'P_PERSON_ID='||TO_CHAR(person_id, 'fm9999999999999')||
         ' P_EFFECTIVE_DATE='||TO_CHAR(SYSDATE, 'YYYY/MM/DD'))Rod West

    Hi All,
We are using Oracle 11g Discoverer 11.1.1.4.  Requirement is to open the discoverer report in a new browser window and without connections page.
When we are running discoverer reports with this parameters we unwantedly get the connections page of the discoverer plus which we don't want.
Went through the documentation given in this page and followed it still the issue persists, and i see couple of threads with my issue and no updates.
This excerpt is from the documentation available in the link

  • Discoverer - Report Scheduling

    Hi Friends,
I have scheduled discoverer report. Now the status is "Running Query". Can we unschedule this report or need to kill oracle session.
Even if i will kill the session will it take up the next scheduled report automatically.
    Pankaj

    Hi
Your Discoverer Administrator can unschedule any future schedule so this will stop it being scheduled again.
I appreciate that you may well know how to kill an Oracle session so I include the following for anyone who does not.
To kill a current job, you or your DBA will need access to V$ views, V$SESSION, V$PROCESSS, V$SQLAREA. Also, V$OPEN_CURSOR will have all currently opened cursors.
From V$SESSION you can get the SID and SERIAL#.
    SELECT
    SESS.SID,
    SESS.SERIAL#,
    SESS.OS_USER,
    SESS.PROGRAM
    FROM V$SESSION SESS;
As a DBA, you can kill the session using the following command.
ALTER SYSTEM KILL SESSION 'SID, SERIAL#'
Note: SID and SERIAL# values are separated by a comma and are within single quotes.
In some situations the Oracle.exe is not able to kill the session immediately. In these cases the session will be "marked for kill". It will then be killed as soon as possible.
Issuing the ALTER SYSTEM KILL SESSION command is the only safe way to kill an Oracle session. If the marked session persists for some time you may consider killing the process at the operating system level. Killing OS processes is dangerous and can lead to instance failures, so do this at your own peril.
It is possible to force the kill by adding the IMMEDIATE keyword:
    ALTER SYSTEM KILL SESSION 'SID,SERIAL#' IMMEDIATE;
If you're interested in killing sessions at the operating system levele, here's a good link: http://www.dba-oracle.com/tips_killing_oracle_sessions.htm

  • Invoking a Discoverer Report from a web page written in JSP

    Hi,
We are using Discoverer 10.1.2 against a relational database. We are not using the OLAP option.
I have a requirement wherein users would like link to a Discoverer Report from a web application which is not deployed in Oracle Portal. So Discoverer portlets are not the solution.
I basically need to be able to provide the Report URL in the JSP page.
Has anybody done this ? Can you please provide some pointers towards how to generate the Discoverer report URL to invoke the report from a JSP ?
    Thanks
    Manav

Discoverer URL parameters can be found here in the Configuration Guide here:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/html/B13918_03/urlstart.htm#sthref888
Note, that you cannot pass the password in the URL (security restriction) so you will need to use Public or Private connections and pass the connection ID or use an HTML form to build the URL using the POST method.
Or, you can fill in the desired fields and let the user enter their username/pwd.
Hope that helps get you started.
    Regards,
    Steve.

  • Invoking Discoverer Report from Zoom Menu Option

    HI there
I've seen this on client site but never done it myself. Does anyone have any documentation or guidance on how to set up a form personalization so that the zoom menu option on a form links to a discoverer report, potentially passing parameter values to limit the data? Can forget the parameter side if it's complicated for now as we don't have any full requirements.
    Many thanks for any help
    Cheers, Kate

    Hi
Zoom functionality is very simple just follow the bellow steps
    • Enter the Form Personalization form. (M) Help > Diagnostics > Custom Code > Personalize.
    • Rule Seq: 10
    • Description: Create Menu Item
    • Trigger Event: WHEN-NEW-FORM-INSTANCE
    • Context: User and set the value to your user name (don't forget to do this for every Rule you define)
    • Select the Actions tab
    • Actions Seq: 10
    • Type: Menu
    • Menu Entry: SPECIAL31
    • Menu Label: Discoverer Report
    • Rule Seq: 30
    • Description: Open Discoverer Report
    • Trigger Event: SPECIAL31
    • Context: User and set the value to your user name
    • Actions Seq: 10
    • Type: Builtin
    • Builtin Type: Launch a Function
    • Function Code: XXX---Function name
    • Function Name: wil be defaulted from the code
    • Save your work and exit all the forms.

  • Discoverer Report Requirements

    Hi
I am fairly new to Portal and currently looking at implementing it for a client using Portal v 10.1.4.1 and AS 11.5.10.2. Currently I am gathering requirements and one of these is to allow the users to display a number of Discoverer reports. At present the reports have not been defined and this is currently in progress. However from a Portal perspective can someone clarify please what components are needed both from Portal and also from Oracle AS in order to display these reports as well as any other comps. I have been reviewing the documentation and it seems to state that we need a Oracle BI component installed. Is this just for Dashboards or also for displaying reports in the Portlet ?
The documentation states that the Pre requisites for Discoverer Portlets are
    1) Install Oracle Application Server Infrastructure
    2) Install Oracle Application Server Portal
    3) Install Oracle Business Intelligence
Can someone please confirm what I need to install in order to achieve this functionality ?
    Thanks in advance
    Kevin

    Kevin,
If you have Portal installed and Discoverer Viewer then you can simply create a page in Portal with url items which contain links to the discoverer viewer reports. You need to create public connections within Discoverer. The easiest way of getting the correct url is to simply run the desired report within a browser and copy the url into the portal item.
If you need to set some of the parameters dynamically you can do this in a dynamic page and htp.p() the link as html, setting the desired parameters at runtime.
Portal allows you to create Discoverer portlets but these are pre-run and cached, which is great for performance but not so good if you need them to be dynamic.
You may need buiness intelligence if you are wanting to work with Oracle Applications: my understanding is that Business Intelligence is a pre-built End User Layer with Business Areas that get you up and running quickly with Discoverer in the eBusiness Suite. It is possible to do without Business Intelligence but it will require some up-front work to build your own end user layer and configure it.
There are a number of articles on Metalink about getting Discoverer to work with Oracle Applications which covers all this in great detail.
    Patrick.
