Hi
The problem i sthat the function in the custom folder evaluated by the Oracle fisrt and after that are evaluated the functions which sets the global variables from the parameters.
So if you open the workbook nothing selected but the global variables has set and the next time you got the result with the previos parameters.
If you change the parameters it wouldn't change the result set only if you refresh it again without changing the parameters.
This is not a good solution for using parameters in custom folders. As I know there is no good solution for this problem yet.

  • Discoverer report runs okay in test system but very slow in live

    Hi all
My Discoverer report takes about 5 minutes to run in the test environment. The same report (absolutely the same SQL in the custom folder in the admin edition and the same conditions and sort in the Desktop edition) takes at least 45 mins to run in live.
Has anyone faced a problem like this? How can I speed up my report in the live environment? I am using Discoverer version 4.1.48.06.00
    Thanks in advance!
    Regards
    Aruna

    Hey Aruna.
Are you sure the 2 environments are exactly the same (ie: one recently copied to the other)? Reason I'm asking is that if one has many more records, or one has an index, etc. then that would, of course, cause a difference.
What about the time when you're running it? Is the production environment an Apps environment and they're running batch jobs, updating shipping info in the last week of the month, etc?
I would first of all see if the environments are the same by trying something as simple as running the query in TOAD or SQL Navigator or SQL Developer in both environments and then seeing if there's the same difference. If not, then move on to the Discoverer side of things.
If they're still different, then are the Disco environments the same? Have you turned query prediction, etc. off in DEV but not in PROD?
Is the DEV box a hot damn new UNIX box with all the good stuff like oodles of memory, multi-processors, etc? And is the PROD box a Commodore 64? Okay, just kidding on the last test, but you get the idea.
Start at the same relative time (ie: morning). Start TOAD, etc. and see the speed difference there. Then move on to Disco and see the speed difference.

  • Discoverer report running for hours

    Hi,
One of the custom discoverer report (based on custom SQL) is running for hours.
When U ran the query for the respective folder, the results were returned in few seconds.
Hence, data size is not an issue. How can I identify the cause and solve it?
    Thanks,
    Kamath.

    Hello
If you dont need to run the report urgently then you can always schedule it to run the background till it is finished.
First log into desktop. Select tools > options > query governor tab. Make sure only radio button named "Never" is ticked. Leave all other options empty / not ticked. Click OK when ur done.
Then go to File > Manage Workbooks > Scheduling Manager > Schedule.... button then choose either My Computer or Database depending on where your report is stored. Scroll down and find your report. Enter a time and date that you want to start running the report. When you are done click Finish button. Normally the report would run for an hour or till it is complete. But it won't bomb out.
After 2 hours or even the next morning go to File > Manage workbooks > then look for your report > if it has run successfully then the status column would return something positive like "completed successfully". just double click your report and your are done....
It works for me if i need to run one of my reports. but that is only if your not in a rush to run your report
    Hope it helps

  • Web discoverer report run slow after upgrade to AS10.1.2.48.18

We just upgraded our application server to 10.1.2.48.18, our web Discoverer report were running extremly slow on tables that contain large amount of data. We have good speed with those report in the past. The backgroud database was the same as well as the web server.Using desktop version of Discoverer were fine with normal speed.
Does any one know why? How to speed it up?
    Thanks!

    A few things to check:
Are all machines using the same version of SQL*Net?
Are the reports in different EULs (if so, are the EULs at different versions)?
Do all reports work in Disco Plus or Disco Desktop?
What types of reports are failing (cross tabs, tabular, both)?
For the reports that are failing, how many rows are you expecting?

  • HR Report running in the Background

    Hi everyone,
I have a HR report which runs in the background (every 2 weeks) using a variant. When I execute the report using the same variant in the background using the menu option, it works fine( for that matter, even in the foreground) , but when it runs on the scheduler, the report gives totally different results. What could be the reason? This report does use the Logical Database.
Your answer will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Reeta

    Hi
what i see from your point is that you are putting the report in background from the selection screen only and making it a periodic   one with the same variant.even if u r using dynamic variants in that case also when the report will runs after two weeks it will take the values of the two weeks back instead of taking it in correctly
so it would be better if you can schedule the program from sm36 with program name and variant ,then it will work perfectly fine, and logical data bases pnp and all work perfectly fine in background,
in case i understood ur point wrongly then please let me know

  • Problems with reports run from the MSS Launchpad

    Hi,
The problem I am facing is with the reports being run from the MSS Launchpad. When i click on it, I can see that certain buttons like "Selection Fields", "org Assignment" are disabled. But there in one more button "More" which is enabled and clicking on it gives all the disabled options as enabled. However when the report window is maximized, the button "More " vanishes and all the buttons become disabled.
I need to enable all the buttons now showing as disabled. Eagerly awaiting your reply.
    regards,
    Pinki

    Hi,
Thanks for the reply. But can you please let me know how?

  • Passing rendering format and report parameters in the URL to call a report - SSRS 2012

    Hi,
I've a SSRS 2012 with the integer and multivalue Creation_Years parameter that I need to call directly to export data in the Excel format.
I've tried to use this URL:
http://reportserv/Reports/Pages/Report.aspx?ItemPath=%2fInsurance%2fInstallations_Excel&rs:Format=excel&Creation_Years=2014 but the parameter is required in an interactive manner.
I've tried to set the hidden property for the parameter, I've tried to invert the position of the "rs:Format=excel" string with the "Creation_Years=2014", but the error message doesn't change. Also if I specify the 2015 year, the parameter
isn't overwritten with the 2015 value.
Any helps to me, please? Thanks

Ok, thanks, I note that you have added "rs:Command=Render": looking to the official documentation this string seems optional.
Your url functions but the parameter cannot be a multivalue one. Do you confirm this?
    Thanks
If you want to sent value for multi valued parameter through URL you need to repeat it
    ie like this
    http://reportserv/ReportServer/Pages/ReportViewer.aspx?%2fInsurance2fInstallations_Excel&rs:Command=Render&rs:Format=excel&Creation_Years=2014&Creation_Years=2015&Creation_Years=2016...
    also see
    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms155391.aspx
If parameter value itself has characetrs like & in it you need to escape them first using javascript

  • How to change the Browser title when report runs on the web?

    Hi folks,
How to change the title of the browser when I run my report on the web? Iam using Internet explorer and Reports 6i. Is it possible in 6i or 10g reports?
Could you please tell me the step by step procedure ?
Right now the browser is displaying the URL when I run the report with format = PDF.
    Thanks.

It works for me. I don't see why you have a problem with >this code.
Can you look at the source code of the html >file that was created (so, not in the browser, but in a >text editor). What do the header and title look like? The Html code in the file is same as the above code I specified. Actually I copied the same code and pasted here. But when I run the html file the Title shows up.
Don't put </html> there. Maybe that helps. I tried this, but it did not work.
Please let me know is there any way to set it dynamically inside the triggers using SRW built_in.
    Thanks alot.

  • Layout to a Report run in the background

For a standard SAP Report which is run in background everyday with a variant . How can I attach a layout ( i created for sort column )to the report ? I want the output of the report to be as per the Layout ...How can i assign the layout to the report ?

    Hi,
By attaching a layout, if you mean that you want the output spool to be changed as per the new layout, then i dont think that it is possible directly.
You have to copy the standard program and do the changes. Later on schedule this program in background with the variant.
    Best regards,
    Prashant
PS : How have u created a layout with sort column. Have you copied the standard program ?

  • Missing Discoverer reports after migrating the EUL to new Database.

Our Environment is Discoverer Relational- OLTP
We have recently migrated the source database from Oracle 9.2.0.6 to 10.2.00.0 RAC, this made us to migrate the Discoverer to new database in production.
Below are the database objects we migrated to new database.
    1. EUL schema
    2. Schemas referred by the Objects in the EUL (schemas containing functions, tables, views etc)
    3. Based on trigger we created to filter active discoverer database accounts, migrated only active database users to new database.
Note: we had almost 4000 Discoverer users from 2005, since many of these users moved out of company or not using discoverer permanently, and there are users who used discoverer once in year or once in 6 months.
Finally we come up with 300 Active Discoverer users to be migrated to new database.
    Issues: After migration
Some of the migrated users did not get their reports migrated which are shared by other users? [Since we didn’t migrate these users schemas as they are not active].
We have queried the EUL5_DOCUMENTS table in new database for a particular inactive users account (account which is not migrated) is not showing any reports owned by him.
Since we have migrated EUL schema and active users new database, is this will effect the EUL, [Information related to non active users gets deleted from the EUL in New Database]
Some users who are not figured in the active migrated list are requesting to get access to discoverer on new database. Can you please suggest the correct way to migrate these accounts.
    Exporting the accounts will work?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi ARS,
Please check the following item in your new database.
    1. log_archive_max_processes Most properbly value set for this parameter is low ( may be it's set to 1.) Please increase up ( 4)I am curious to know what makes you think 4 is the right magic number for log_archive_max_processes - after all, he's only got one archive destination.

  • Can Discoverer Reports Saved on the Database be Copied Across Instances

We are using Discoverer 4i Plus Release - 4.1.48.08.00.
When workbooks are saved to the database, is there a way of copying them across to another instance (rather than having to re-create them)?
    Thank you,
    Thalita

Yes. From the file menu, select Export. This starts a wizard which will export the entire EUL, BAs, or individual objects. If you just want to move workbooks, choose Individual Objects, then Workbooks from the drop down.
To import, fire up admin, connecting to the other database, select Import from tools menu, and the wizard will walk you through.
A word of caution - if you just export workbooks, they may import without errors into another schema. If the BAs, folder, or items are different between the export schema and the import schema, you will get errors when you try to open the workbooks (you may get errors when you try to import them, too).

    Hi,
You can use the following query to identify distinct Discoverer 10g Viewer / Plus users in the E-Business Suite database:
    select distinct(substr(module,10,instr(module,':',1)-10)) from v$session where module like 'Disco10%';
Alternatively, you can use the following query to see all Discoverer 10g connections in the database:
    select sid,serial#,osuser,terminal,module from v$session where module like 'Disco10%';
