Discoverer Scroll Bar in a Portal Portlet

Hello,
Does anyone know how to customize the Discoverer Portlet in Portal to include a scroll bar. I see many questions about this subject but have not found the answer. If its possible how can it be done. If its not possible then does anyone know of another way to give the same functionality? I have a discoverer query that's pretty slow and would like to schedule it so the users do not have to wait the 10 minutes it takes to run (yes the query is tuned)
John

Hi John,
It seems you have two questions here.
The answer to the first one is that the Discoverer 'Drake' release (10.1.2) will come with the ability to specify the number of rows and columns a Discoverer portlet should occupy on a portal page.
Your second question is not very clear. Are you asking how to schedule workbooks? You can use Discoverer Desktop or Plus to schedule workbooks.

  • Horizontal scroll bar problem in Portal????

    Hi Guys,
I am facing some problem when i open any thread. Horizontal scrollong bar is coming at the end of the thread.
eg: If i have some text in the thread which is more than width of the screen and has some 10 replies to that thread, Then i should be able to scrool at that position itself. But now i have to scroll down till end of all the replies and then i have to scroll the horizontal bar to right/left and scroll up to particular reply to see what is there.
Is there any enhancement going on in portal or it is specific to my system? Please do let me know.
    Thanks,
    Vinod.

I too am facing this problem with the horizontal scroll bar.
There are many other bugs, but I am reluctant to spend my time reporting them as last time I reported a problem here, I got a rude response.

  • Scroll Bar problem - BI Iview

    Hi,
I've created a BW iView and added it to a Page which is attached to a Role.  When I execute the page on the portal , I get get a 2 vertical scroll bars one for the ivew and one for the external page. But the Horizontal scroll bar is hidden below. I have to scroll down to the bottom of the table to see the horizontal scroll bar.
I would like to have the Horizontal scroll bar visible always ... How to do this..?
    Thanks

You need to make sure that the iview containing the BI web app is tall enough to hold the entire app.  The first thing I would try is to increase the actual and maximum height of the BW iview.  Getting rid of those multiple scroll bars can be tricky.

  • Removing the Vertical scroll bar from the content area.

    Hello,
Is there a way to remove the vertical scroll bar from the content area?
I am trying to create a new light portal frame work.
Everything works fine except that I see two vertical scroll bars, one from the content area and another from the page(frame).
    Thanks in advance.
    -Sudheer

    Hi
There are a couple of ways in which to achieve this
    1) Try and make the content flat. What I mean by this is that the content area (when using the standard light framework) doesn't contain an iframe, meaning that the iview defined on the page has "EMBEDDED" isolation mode. This should mean that you only have one scrollbar (if the content extends past the size of the browser)
    2) If you need to make the iview URL isolation, then try and get the domain of the content to be of a similar domain to your portal server, i.e. your portal is portal.company.com and the content is content.company.com. In this way you can make the pages expand.
NOTE: One thing to note is that when using URL isolation iviews doesn't allow the automatic expanding of the iframe content. This is because the standard javascript doesn't allow this. Therefore you may have to write your own javascript function (or content area page) to do this
    I hope this helps

  • Scroll bar color of Visual Composer : how to change it ?

    Hello Comunity,
I am developing application using Visual Composer within EP7.01 SP6, and I can not manage to find how to change the original blue of Visual Composer application for scroll bar.
Does anyone knows where to change this color ? I believe it is a general color that is defined somewhere that needs to be change in the portal theme editor in the Visual Composer part, but I did not find it...
    Any help appreciated !
    Thanks a lot.
    Fabien.

    Hi
Its not inside Visual Composer application. You have to do it at Enterprise Portal level.
Also inside VC model you need to select 'Flash Runtime' from tools (Options).
Basically you need to change theme settings in content administration of VC.

  • Visual Composer table horizontal scroll bar

    Hi Experts,
is it possible to have horizontal scroll bar in visual composer iview?
is it possible to lock initial n columns from scroll in VC iview?
if possible the pls tell how?
    Thanks in advance
    Anupam

    Hi Anupam..
The below info may helps you .......
Visual Composer produces applications in a declarative form, thereby enabling completely code-free execution mode for multiple runtime environments. It provides full application lifecycle support by maintaining the connection between an application and its model throughout its lifecycle. Visual Composer is designed with an open architecture, which enables developers to extend its design-time environment and modeling language, as well as to integrate external data services.
As a result, Visual Composer modelers increase productivity by reducing their development effort time from weeks and months to days. Domain experts gain the means to express their requirements directly rather than conveying them to developers. This narrows the gap between application definition and implementation.
Starting with a blank canvas, the Visual Composer user draws the application in Visual Composer Storyboard (workspace), without writing a single line of code. Since no traditional programming skills are needed, business process experts can prototype, design and produce entire applications.
A typical workflow for creating, deploying and running an application using Visual Composer is:
    Create a model
Discover data services and add them to the model
Select necessary UI elements and add them to the model
Connect model elements to define the model logic and data flow
    Edit the layout
Arranging the UI elements and the controls of the application on forms and tables.
    Deploy the model
This step includes compilation, validation and deployment to a selected environment.
    Run the application
The application can run using different runtime environment (such as Adobe Flex and HTML)

  • Adobe forms - No scroll bar for Display only fields

I am using adobe forms for SAP Enterprise Portal. i am using these in Worklfows. In the form there is a text field with no size limit and Allows Multiple Lines. Any amount of text is allowed to be entered. when the form is viewed by the next person, the script in the form make the field as read only. This is as expected.
Problem: If there are multiple lines the scroll bar does not appear for the field. Entire content is not visible. Printout of the form prints the entire text from the field. In edit mode the scroll bar is displayed!!
    Adobe Reader version - 7.0.9
    OS - XP SP2

    Hi Sumant,
I am facing same issue. Any solution ?

  • Can't get rid of vertical scroll bar for full page iviews

    Hello all,
We 've got a number of areas of our portal where we are using iViews with a full page (e.g. web dynpro apps, collaboration directory).  However with all of these iViews, a vertical scroll bar appears on the right hand side. This bar has hardly any "play" in it (it doesn't move very far), and it doesn't reveal anything extra.
The funny thing is, it only happens when our desktop (theme and framework) is applied.  Does anyone have any idea what might affect this?
The iView tray height is set to full_page.  In some cases it sits within a page, others it is added directly to the workset.
    Using EP6SP14
    Thanks,
    Chris

    Hi Christopher,
whenever a page is displayed in portal, a javascript resizes your inner page iView dynamically. The value used depends on the resolution of your browser (height) minus some pixel reserverd for your mast head, TLN and other page header iViews.
If you use a theme or masthead iView that is higher than an original one, the javascript calculates an iView height that is too high. Maybe you should try decreasing the height of your portal header.
At least, that's what I think. Maybe I'm wrong.

    Carsten

  • How to hide scroll bar

    Hi everyone,
when i display iviews on the page it should not show me the scroll bar.
how to hide the scroll bar in iview.

    Hi Sonal,
You can try this, create a JSPDynpage to display your Iviews as Iframes ( disable the scrolling mode in Iframes), in the imgsrc attribute of Iframe give the URL path of ur Iviews to be displayed.(if two iviews put it as two iframes)
Regarding the gap between Iframes or design of the JSP page you can handle it thro Htmlb or even html tags.Upload the Par in the portal, create a new iview out of it (it will not have scrolling mode and your design can be established) Now add this Iview to a page.
    Hope it helps.

    Vivekanandan

  • IE Scroll Bars remain after resize

I have received several complaints from the users in my company that the scroll bars that appear if you open the portal in a non-maximized browser window remain after the user resizes the window.  These will 'dis-appear' if the user presses the Browser Refresh key (F5).
We have build navigation target links in other environments that point to specific Portal content.  When executing these links, a new window opens up which is sized to a non-maximized size.  This window retains the necessary scroll bars when re-sized.
Any ideas on how to correct this?
We are using EP6 SPS 14.
    Best regards,
    Bryan

I managed to fix this issue on my own. Had to do with display settings and specifically with font size .

  • Enabling the scroll bars of the  iView

    Hello all,
I am creating one portal application which consists of 5 iView and my aim to have all the iViews completely visible on the screen at all the times and make use of the vertical and horizontal scrollbars to allow the user to see the additional data.
So my question is How to enable the vertical and horizontal scroll bars of the iViews. I have tried this by setting <b>Isolation Method</b> of the iView to <b>"URL"</b> but doing the same i was not able to pass the events from one iView to another.
Can you suggest me another way of enabling the scroll bars to iView.
    Thanks in advance,
    Prashant

    Hi Prashant,
There are some other ways for achieveing the same:
    1. Define new Page Layout with 8 blocks of same size as per your requirement, and then place all the iviews in that, one per block. These changes need to be done in PAR file of framework page. (A bit time consuming)
    2. Add iViews to pages such that one page contain one iview. Add all these pages to one page and then set page properties to display every apge completely like page height as full page.
    3. iView height can be kept fixed and then all scroll bars will start appearing.
    This might help you.
