  • Connect a single Discoverer server to multiple applications?

I am using a standalone Discoverer server, originally configured to connect to a test database/eBusiness application. I would now like to connect it to another database/eBusiness application.
Is this possible to have 1 Discoverer server configured to attach to these 2 applications simultaneously?

    Hi,
Yes, that is possible. You just need to configure the second database into the the tnsnames file of the apps server and copy across the .dbc file. You should then be able to select the second database when making a connection.

  • Unable to connect Discoverer Server:IDL:DCCORBAException:1.0

    Hi all,
I installed Discoverer 10 server on a machine called gnvmig.ote.gr and when I connect (from Discoverer Plus) to an Application EUL on the same machine I don't have any kind of problem. If I try to be connected to an Application EUL on another machine I have the following error:

If you always get this error, then I don't know the answer. However, I see this message if I try to open a second Discoverer Plus session from the same browser session (either the same connection dialog, or on another tab of the same session). You can have multiple sessions of Discoverer , but they must be opened from completely separate browser sessions, or different browsers.

See if you can upgrade to patch .53. This solved a lot of problems for me (although I did not encounter the one you report).
    Available via Metalink.

  • Reports runs faster throuth Discoverer Server than through Application

I try to run a report directly from the discoverer server. The report executed fine and in few seconds i get the results.
When i try to call the same report from the BI Application through a link the report needs a lot more time to be executed. I am waitting about 10 minutes and still don't get any results.
I am using the Discoverer 4i.
Can anybody knows why this happens?

Discoverer is available and ships as a component of Oracle Application Server. Oracle Application Server via Oracle HTTP Server provides a proxy capability to support other web servers such as Netscape iPlanet and Microsoft IIS. The proxy capability will enable client applications to directly route requests to their native web server and these then get routed to Oracle Application Server and the Oracle HTTP Server. For detailed information on support for these web servers please refer to Oracle Application Server documentation.

  • How to change port for discoverer server

    Hi All,
Current default port is 7777 for discoverer server.
how to change the port number ?
    Thank you.

    [Disco Configuration Guide|http://download.oracle.com/docs/html/B13918_03/maint.htm#i1035783]
    Hi,
I would recommend using the Oracle Business Intelligence Discoverer Configuration Guide appropriate for your implementation (e.g. for Oracle BI Discoverer 10g Release 2 for SPARC, click on the link above). Here is what the documentation says:
To change the port on which Discoverer is deployed:
-Start Oracle Application Server Control and display the System Components page (for more information, see Section 5.1.2, "How to start Application Server Control and display the System Components page").
    Display the Ports tab
-In the rows containing the Oracle HTTP Server component (Type=Listen), select the edit icon in the Configure column to display the Server Properties page for that component.
-Scroll down to the Listening Addresses and Ports area and change the port number in the Default Port field.
    -Click OK.
-When you are prompted to restart the Oracle HTTP Server, click Yes.
For more information about the Server Properties page in Application Server Control, see Application Server Control Help.
Hint: If you change a Discoverer port number, make sure that any other OracleAS components that use that Discoverer port number are synchronized.
I have not needed to do this, so I can not speak from experience. As always, try this in a test environment first.

  • Discoverer Server Upgrade

    Subject: Discoverer Server upgrade
    Hi,
A question on Discoverer Server upgrade. Currently we are running out Discoverer server and Datamart on the same 9i database. But now we want to move on Discoverer server to a different 10g database but keep our datamart on the old 9i DB. I was wondering if this is possible and if the work that has already being done in Discoverer will work once the discoverer server is moved to a new database. Currently we are using 3i but plan on upgrading our discoverer version to 10 g later.
Please let me know if I didn't explain the scenario properly.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
You won't be able to use Discoverer 3i with a 10g database.

  • Discoverer server connection error

    Hi,
I am having a specific problem with web version of discoverer plus. Whenever I connect to discoverer plus and start working on it for few minutes I am losing connection to discoverer server. The exact error message what I am getting is "CONNECTION TO DISCOVERER SERVER IS LOST. PLEASE EXIT AND RESTART YOUR APPLICATION AND IF THE PROBLEM PERSISTS CONTACT YOUR ORACLE APPLICATION SERVER ADMINISTRATOR". When I look at the java console of the applet that is downloaded on my machine I see 'DiscoNetworkException' being thrown. Has anybody got any idea about why this is happening? if so, what do I need to do to prevent it from happening.
    Thanks in advance,
    Mythili.

We have seen similar behavior on the product. We are running Discoverer Plus 10.1.2.48.18. The problem is reproducable if we have both a CASE statement and a Sort in a worksheet, then try to Save or view the SQL. I have seen the error that begins with "Error: DiscoNetworkException IDL:DCCORBAException:1.0", however, this error is occuring independent of the "dropped connection" error. We have seen it occur before the actual "dropped connection" error occurs. Also, if we only examine the SQL and don't save the worksheet, the error is displayed, but the connection remains intact (we can continue to work with the worksheet).
Don't know if this is helpful, but its what we're seeing.

  • Contact lost to Discoverer server

i upgraded to 10.1.2.2, and when i launch Discoverer Plus, the app opens but i get a message saying 'contact to discoverer server has been lost, to continue your work...'. it happens immediately, i don't get the window that shows my workbooks.
    Viewer works fine.
This only happened in the previous version if in fact i let the machine idle for a long time. i don't think this has anything to do with idle time.
    any ideas?

not yet. i was going to do CP8, but the versions of discoverer has to be 10.1.2.2 (10.1.2.54.25).
it was recommended to apply patch 4960210 first before applying the cumulative patch.
