Discoverer Viewer AS-10g - Report Layout

Hello,
I have a problem about report layout on Discoverer Viewer AS10g.
If I have a crosstab layout and "Year" is my left axis and "Sales" and "Products" are my top axis, I see the label "YEAR" on report, not only the values (2003, …). I also see the label “Data point(s)”, but I don’t want to see it.
How can I reduce or delete the white space around cells of data?
a)How can I hide the label “Data points”?
b)How can I hide the label “Year”?
c)How can I reduce the white space?
Version : Oracle Discoverer AS10g
Thank you!!

  • Discoverer Viewer/Plus 10g after a migration from Discoverer 4i

    Hi, I upgrated Discoverer4i to Discoverer 10g with Ebusiness Suite 11i ( 11.5.9) without installin AS 10g
    I followed the note: http://oracle-magic.blogspot.com/2006/11/upgrading-discoverer-4i-to-10g-on-apps.html
If I use Discoverer Administrator and Desktop it works perfectly (I connect as an Oracle Application User)
Now, I want to see my reports with Discoverer Viewer/Plus but I don't understand how to do it (always connecting with an Oracle Application user).
My previous URL (with Discoverer4i) was: http://gnvdev.ote.gr:8025/discoverer4i/viewer
Now, after the Discoverer 10g installation I can connect to the "Welcome to Oracle Business Intelligence 10g (10.1.2)" page with the following URL:http://gnvdev.ote.gr:7779/
I didn't understand how Ebusiness Suite 11i ( 11.5.9) can communicate with Discoverer 10g in order to see reports from the web
Can anyone help to understand where and how I should modify anything in order to see my reports with Discoverer Viewer or Plus
    Thank you
    Alex

If you have followed all the steps in "Note: 313418.1 - Using Discoverer 10.1.2 with Oracle E-Business Suite 11i" then you should be able to access Discoverer Plus/Viewer through the following links:
    Discoverer Plus:
    http://gnvdev.ote.gr:7779//discoverer/plus
    Discoverer Viewer:
    http://gnvdev.ote.gr:7779//discoverer/viewer
The above links will prompt for some input, all what you need to provide is:
    - Applications Username
    - Applications Password
    - Database (SID)

  • Discoverer Reporting time in Discoverer view /plus

Hi I am running reports in the Discoverer View. Some reports are taking more than expected time. I want to know exact time taken by the reports. IS there any tables that storing Execution time for Discoverer reports like start time and end time for the report.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
You can turn on statistics collection and then look in the EUL5_QPP_STATS table for the start time and duration of all the workbooks run on the system.

  • Report Layout difference in Discoverer Desktop and Discoverer Viewer

    Hi,
A report was developed in Discoverer Desktop. It is having some 10 columns as data points. The summarized columns for those 10 columns are required. But only 3 columns should be displayed in Detailed Data Points. So we shrinked(brought together) all the unwanted columns keeping 3 datapoints displayed. Now it is working fine in the discovere Desktop. But when we open the same report in the Discoverer Viewer, all the 10 columns are displayed in the Detailed Data Points as well.
    Thanks in Advance
    Regards
    Rakesh

    hi Michael,
    good morning..hope u had a good sleep.
as per your last thought y'day, even though i create a function for the sum of season values n select those columns into the report, those will not be shown as summarized columns on right hand side of the report. they will be shown as datapoints for every month in that selected season.
i think the only possible solution for like this report is to hide those unwanted columns. for this we have hidden checkbox option in tools->sort while developing. but this option is available only for tabular reports.
if u come up with any fresh solution for the fresh day...i am glad.
    Thanks,
    _Rakesh.

  • Discoverer Viewer(4i) to run Discoverer-reports(10g) with Apps(11.5.0)

We are running Discoverer Viewer(4i) to run Discoverer-Workbooks(10g) with Apps(11.5.0) but we are facing error like 'Unable to fetch workbook' .I guess this is b'coz EUL created in 10g not getting compatible with 4i Discoverer Viewer.
If this is the problem what is my next step?
Can anyone plz help me in detail.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi
You would need to upgrade everything to the same level if you want to open Discoverer 10g workbooks. This means your EUL will need to be upgraded and you will need to abandon the 4i server and upgrade to the 10g server.
I would encourage you to do so anyway because 10g is much better than 4i.

  • Discoverer Viewer Report with Page Items Slow Performance

I created a report in Discoverer User that has page items and parameters and runs fine (under 3 minutes) in Discoverer User, but when I try and run it in Discoverer Viewer it takes a long time. It took over 70 minutes before manually terminating it. I made a copy of the report and removed the page items and tried to run it again in Discoverer Viewer and now the report runs in under 3 minutes. Any idea why a report with page items would run in Discoverer user fine, but not discoverer viewer?
I am using Oracle Business Intelligence Plus 10g (10.1.2.55.26)

As long as you can access the middle-tier server where Discoverer Viewer is running, you should be able to run and view Discoverer worksheets.
While it is difficult to even start guessing what the problem might be, if the machine you installed Discoverer on has DHCP addressing, you will run into problems.
    Thanks

  • Tweak Discoverer Viewer layout

    Hi ,
I am facing a strange problem while trying to roll out the discoverer viewer reports through discoverer viewer. The users, who have been using Excel sheets for years, are asking for lots of changes in the way discoverer viewer displays data. Alhough they are aware that there are lots of other advantages of this tool over excel, but still there are some problems that they feel are basic, and must be adressed. Can someone please help me out on these?
    1) The row height of rows in discoverer cannot be altered, so even when the font size of data is just 6, the rows are wide enough to fit data of font size 10!. The layout/format options in discoverer do not provide option to shrink row heights, and so lots of empty space.
    2) The reports have to be scrolled using Left ->, Down -> links if the number of rows and columns are large. Although, the Rows and Columns link can be used to fetch all rows and columns in one go, but that has to be done everytime a report is opened. The users want that the number of rows and columns be set to a high value by default. But I could find no place where this can be set as default for all reports.
    3) A graphical logo can be displayed in the Title when using Desktop. But this is not available in Plus and Viewer. Moreover in the page where report is displayed, Oracle Discoverer Viewer logo is visible at the top which is not required. Effectively, what is wanted is missing and what not is very well there :-(. how do I do these changes?
    4) The NULL values have been set to be displayed as '-' when reports were saved in Plus. But the Viewer still shows them up as NULL. I had to change each of the report in viewer to display the NULL as '-' by going to the Link 'Worksheet Options'. I can't understand that why there is no synch between Plus and Viewer for this setting. Surprisingly now, the worksheet options link has vanished from the viewer page after I did some changes a couple of weeks back, and now I am unable to do those changes too :-((. How do I bring the link back? or how do I set the NULL to be displayed as '-' be default for all reports?
Lots of questions I know... but I am stuck and this is actually affecting the acceptance of the tool among the users. They have been using the excel sheets that are very flexible(the world knows), but still they would be more than happy to use Viewer ,if at least these basic change are made.
Any help on any of these is appreciated.
    Thanks
    Goga

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

  • NEED TO DISPLAY A COLUMN as HYPERLINK IN discoverer viewer 10g

    Hi Guys,
We have a requirement from the customer and the requirement goes like this ::
We have a table in database which has a column which stores the link as VARCHAR.. For example, it has a value https://www.google.com as varchar in database.
We are pulling reports from this database through Discoverer Viewer 10g. While displaying this column in Discoverer Viewer, it should display it as Hyperlink so that as soon as customer clicks on that , it will open the corresponding page in a new browser window.
Customers have invoice images which they want to see by navigating through that link.
Your quick help is highly appreciated..
    Thanks !!!!

    Hi
Oracle added Drill Link to Internet URL functionality in Discoverer 10gR2 which allows a data item to behave as a hyperlink in Discoverer Plus and Viewer. To use this functionality, a user must open a workbook in Discoverer Plus 10gR2 and add a Drill Link to Internet URL to a column. For more on Drill Link to Internet URL, refer to the Oracle Business Intelligence Discoverer Plus User’s Guide – 10g Release 2, Chapter 10, “How to create drill links to Internet URLs”.
When such a drill link is added to a column in Discoverer Plus 10gR2, the column does seem not retain its hyperlink functionality when called within a Discoverer portlet in Portal. This bug was acknowledged by Oracle as bug # 4969310. This is supposed to be fixed in the 11g Portal.
    Does this help?

  • Print report parameter and column headers PDF format from Discoverer Viewer

    Hi,
From Discoverer Viewer 4i I'm presently using the printer friendly version to print my workbooks. I would like to know if their is a way to include report parameters and print column headers on every page.
I would appreciate any pointers or workarounds to this issue at the earliest.
    Thanks

    Hi T
I don't think this is possible with 4i.
Have you considered upgrading to 10g R2?

  • Saving report in discoverer viewer

    Hi all,
i have the discoverer viewer and i have a little question.
i know that if i re-sort the data in the report or if i change the columns order, than i can save this changes.
my question is if i use a stoplight on my report in order to
display certain fields with red, green or yellow colors, can i save it too?
i tried to save a report with a stoplight, but it saved all the other changes and not the stoplight and i wanted to know if there's any way that i can save it with the stoplight?

  • View Crystal Report Layout for my UDO Form

    Hi all,
I try to view a report created for my UDO form. I set all settings in Administration -> Setup -> General -> Report and Layout Manager. Now I wonder what should be assigned to  eventInfo.LayoutKey. I tried assigned report's DocCode from RDOC, DocEntry of my UDO object or UDO Code but nothing works. Always get an error: Incorrect format of argument or something like that - I didn't get an error in English so I tried to translate it.
How to show a report layout for my UDO form?

  • Report not working in Discoverer Viewer

    Hi,
I'm using Discoverer 10.1.2.1 in conjunction with E-business Suite 12.1.3.
I have a report that runs fine in Desktop or Plus, but when run in viewer (either from the application or from the stand-alone viewer link) it ends with the following error after running for approx 4 minutes:
The application encountered an invalid state.
OracleBI Discoverer Viewer was unable to find the necessary data for displaying the results of this event. Please correct any errors and try again.
I recreated the report from scratch, using the same underlying data, and adding exactly the same items, conditions and sorting. The same responsibilities have been given access, and I verified that the SQL produced in both reports is exactly the same.
However my new report works! From what I can see the only difference is the name and workbook identifier.
Does anyone have any idea what could be causing my error? I have searched for the error on this forum and others but haven't found the answer.
    Thanks
    Hazel

    Hi Hazel
This has come up before and I found this thread that I was involved in several years ago: https://forums.oracle.com/message/3682002
Here's another one, this time relating to static IP addresses: https://forums.oracle.com/message/1199457
There's also a document on Oracle Support: The application encountered invalid state.Oracle BI Discoverer Viewer was unable to find the necessary data for displaying the results of this event" (Doc ID 884965.1)
Also, were you using Portal? I've seen instances where Viewer was unable to run a report that was linked via Portal because the report had changed since it was placed on the Portal.
    Best wishes
