Discoverer Web Queries

Hi
Can anyone help me.
I have created a number of disco web queries (excel).
The location of the disco report is about to be changed onto a new server with a new address.
Is there anyway to access the address of the report in excel and change it rather that running each report in disco and reacreating the web query.

Hi
Thanks for the reply, however is there a way to amend the link in the excel file that has been created from the iqy file. Otherwise we would need to amend quite a lot of iqy files then recreate them in excel with the correct usernames and paramaters on another excel sheet.

  • Problem running web queries on machines with internet explorer 8 installed

    Hello All,
    We started noticing that a few of our users can no longer execute web queries in MS Excel spreadsheets created from .IQY files exported from Discoverer.
    The users get the following error when they attempt to refresh data on their excel worksheet:
    "The file could not be accessed. Try one of the following:
    *Make sure the specified folder exists.
    *Make sure the folder that contains the file is not read-only.
    *Make sure the file name does not contain any of the following characters: < > ? [ ] : | or *
    *Make sure the file/path name doesn't contain more than 218 characters."
    Followed immediately by: "Invalid Web Query"
    We believe that we've linked this issue to only occurring with users who've installed Internet Explorer 8, so I'm hoping that it could be some configuration setting that I could tweak, either in their internet settings or on the discoverer server.
    Has anyone else encountered this problem? Does anyone have any suggestions?
    FYI: Our discoverer server is version: 10.1.2.3.0 with CP4, and our clients are using JRE 1.6.0_12, the problem is occurring on my test machine with Excel 2003.
    Thanks,
    -Scott

    After looking into this further I checked firewall settings in Panda A.V. For Firefox they were set to Custom settings which effectively disabled it. I changed setting to Outbound only like Internet Explorer and other programs and Firefox seems to work fine now. Hope this helps others who have experienced this problem. I have teenage children who use computer a lot (Face Book, etc.) so the root of the problem may have been Malware, Adware, or something else but hopefully Panda has taken care of this.

  • How to combine  two user prompts into 1 single prompt from two Webi Queries

    Hi All,
    I developed a single webi report from two different queries on top of 2 BW OLAP universe .
    Here I have one user input prompt for each query so I want to combine them into one single user input promt which  should pass the user input value to both the Webi queries feeding data to the  single webi report.
    I found that the webi doc has auto checked merge dimensions enabled but it is not providing combined resluts from both the queries .
    Any inputs are greatlt appreciated.
    Thanks

    Stratos
    Firstly ,I appreciate your responses for my two questions.
    Both the prompts I am using are from the masterdata and they are similar.data types.I think the transactional data is not available in BW for one of the prompt ,hence I am not getting consistent data.
    Anyway will do further investigation in finding similarities and let you know.
    Thanks a lot

  • Report to Report jump web queries variable screen on BW

    Hello,
    We would like the variable screen to always popup when the user runs a main query. We would like the variable screen to never popup when jumping from one query to another query.
    We are using BW 3.5. We are using web queries, NOT Excel. Both queries are running on BW. We have set up jump query parameters in RSBBS. These jump successfully with all of the appropriate required variables passed from the from the first query to the second query. We are using the standard 0ADHOC template for all queries, including the sender and receiver queries.
    With the FORCE_VARIABLE flag set to TRUE, both the sender and receiver queries popup the variable entry screen. With FORCE_VARIABLE flag set to FALSE, both sender and receiver queries do NOT popup the variable screen. We would like the FORCE_VARIABLE flag set to TRUE for the sender query and set to FALSE for the receiver query. Is this possible? How do you set the FORCE_VARIABLE flag to FALSE dynamically based on the fact that the user has just jumped to a receiver query?
    Another alternative would be to build two query templates, one for sender queries and one for receiver queries. How do you switch to a different template when the user is ready to jump?
    I have also been fooling with the RESET_DATA_PROVIDER command available in BW 3.5, but have not had any luck. Can this be used to accomplish my objective? How do I use it? Please remember that I am not setting specific jump targets in the web template. I would like this work generically based on settings from RSBBS.
    Any other ideas to force the variable screen on the 1st query and bypass the variable screen when the user is ready to jump would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.
    Kelley

    Hi Kelley,
    Here is what is mentioned in SAP Help:
    Calling up the Web template with reset variables and active variable screen
    http://yourAppServer:yourPort/SAP/BW/BEx?CMD=LDOC&TEMPLATE_ID=yourTemplate<b>&VARIABLE_SCREEN=X</b>&VARIABLES_CLEAR=X
    Have you tried changing the URL for your sender query like this?

  • RRI in WEBI Queries

    Hi
    is there a way in webi Queries to Use use the RRI concept .
    I have 2 BW Queries one detail and the other Summary and 2 universers in BO
    can you please suggest how to jump from theSummary report to the detail report.
    Thanks,

    RRI concept is called Hyperlinking in BO front.
    To achieve this, you can use:
    1. Hyperlinking by changing Infoview preferences to Interactive mode.
    2. Using OpenDocument() syntax.
    See below thread for complete understanding of how to set up both and will work.
    Linking 2 web I reports
    Hope it helps you.
    Thank You!!

    OracleBI Discoverer 10g (10.1.2.1)
    Oracle Business Intelligence Discoverer Plus 10g (10.1.2.48.18)

    Hi Michael,10769464
    Hurray...Found the solution for this Issue,
    Yes, There is a setting(Web Server Timeout setting) that controls how long an web query will stays active.
    We need to increase the Web Server Timeout value in order to make these long running IQY file complete successfully.
    and this setting is found in httpd.conf, the default value is set to 5 mins, increase this time out value to 30 mins(you can keep any value, as per your requirement)and test you IQY files, they will complete successfully.
    (Dont forget to Bounce the server after making the changes to httpd.conf)
    Below is the path to httpd.conf
    On UNIX: <ORACLE_HOME>/Apache/Apache/conf/httpd.conf
    On Windows: <ORACLE_HOME>\Apache\Apache\conf\httpd.conf
    Thanks

  • Creation of LDAP User for Discoverer Web Services

    Hi all,
    this isn't a Discoverer issue per se, but I couldn't find where to post this in other forums.
    After installing the web services patch for Discoverer (5648158), I need to create a bipublisher user
    in OIDDAS right? However our installation seems a bit ***** up. So I need to do it from the command line.
    I found some instructions in: here
    and created the following bipublisher.ldif file:
    cn=bipublisher,cn=users,dc=company,dc=com
    objectclass=top
    objectclass=person
    objectclass=inetorgperson
    objectclass=organizationalperson
    objectclass=orcluser
    objectclass=orcluserv2
    objectclass=orclUserProvStatus
    givenname=Web
    userpassword=oracle123
    displayname=bipublisher
    orcldefaultprofilegroup=cn=sr_users ,cn=groups,dc=company,dc=com
    preferredlanguage=en-US
    sn=Services
    orcltimezone=Europe/Athens
    mail=[email protected]
    uid=bipublisher
    orclactivestartdate=20080612000000z
    cn=bipublisher
    orclisenabled=ENABLEDthen inserted the entry with:
    ldapadd -h my.host.com -D"cn=orcladmin" -w oracle123 -v -f bipublisher.ldif
    However when I try to login in the web services from Discoverer, I still get invalid credentials
    Any clues? Thanks
    PS I'm talking about the login web service method, not the basic web authentication. I am past that.

    Nevermind, it seems the server was just a bit slow to take the new account under consideration.

  • BI web queries in HR portal without federation

    Is it possible to display BI queries in a portal that is not the "BI portal".  My landscape is as follows.
    Have 1 EP 7 HR portal running ESS
    Have 1 Dual stack NW2004s system running BI ABAP, BI JAVA, and EP.
    CAn you get creative and use old bex reports or url iviews or something besides federation?
    Thanks
    Jeremy

    Hello Jeremy
    This should be possible. There are three ways of displaying a BEx Web application or query in a different portal. You can call the iView directly, via application integrator, or via BEx iView.
    Please have a look at the following link. It is described in detail there:
    <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/43/92dceb49fd25e5e10000000a1553f7/content.htm">http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/43/92dceb49fd25e5e10000000a1553f7/content.htm</a>

  • Discoverer Web Viewer and Charts

    I did a search in the forum and saw no previous discussions on this subject. So, here's the question. I've developed a worksheet with a graph in Discoverer Plus 4.1. Now the question is how does one display this graph on the Discoverer 4i viewer (Web viewer)? I've looked under Presentation and it has "Chart Area" clicked ON, but the chart doesn't show. Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Kerry Brannen

    Thanks Andy, you've answered the question (I think). I created the chart with the DeskTop version and figured it was only logical that since everything else created in Desktop version is viewable on the web, then the chart should be as well or why else would Oracle have put it there?
    So the question is, how do I access the "Discoverer Plus Applet" and create a chart? Is there documentation?
    Thanks,
    Kerry
    P.S. We had already set the <argument name="show_graphs">true</argument> .

  • Discoverer saved queries.

    This may be a repeat, I am not sure it worked the first time I posted.
    Hello All,
    I am new to Oracle and researching Discoverer. So far I understand it is possible to build and save queries that can be run in a later session. My question is: After having saved the query is it possible to run it from a Java program (perhaps thru JDBC) or from a script? I have not yet found any way Discoverer scripting language. It looks like the Warehouse Builder or Ruby might be able to run the saved queries; but if possible, I would like to keep it simpler than that.

    Hi,
    You can run Discoverer workbooks using MS windows scripting and the Discoverer Client program. You can send a Discoverer Viewer URL to the Oracle AS and get the result as an HTML page. But there is no way to run Discoverer workbooks from java.
    Hope that helps,

  • Discoverer web services documentation

    Hi again,
    is there any documentation we can read on using discoverer's web services?
    Patch 5648158 by the way.
    I'm trying to use them but some variables don't make since. For example:
    <sKey xmlns:ns1="http://oracle.discoverer.applications.ws/IWsi.xsd"
    xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"
    xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
    xsi:type="ns1:oracle_discoverer_applications_ws_model_bean_SessionKey">
    <key xsi:type="xsd:string">String Value</key>
    </sKey>
    Where do I find the session key?
    Also:
    <SSOUsername xsi:type="ns1:oracle_discoverer_applications_ws_model_bean_SSOUsername">
    <user xsi:type="xsd:string">String Value</user>
    </SSOUsername>
    <guid xsi:type="ns1:oracle_discoverer_applications_ws_model_bean_GUID">
    <id xsi:type="xsd:string">String Value</id>
    </guid>
    The username is the one I created when I configured the web services as per the documentation? Where do I find the guid?
    Thanks

    So it sounds like you have already done the WSI setup for Discoverer because you get the list of services - right?
    You're supposed to integrate the web services with an SSO user, which ideally would be the same userid you used when you set up the web services. When you do something like this:
    http://myserver.mydomain.com:7778/discoverer/wsi
    you should get prompted for your web services user. That is not SSO and you need to set up one of those too. Having enabled an SSO user, Discoverer demands that there be at least one Public connection against which some workbooks have been made available.
    You cannot make the web services work unless you are running a full-blown application server, complete with SSO enabled for Discoverer with at least one Public connection. As far as I know, Private connections cannot be used, neither can direct logins.
    If the above login works and you sucecssfuly authenticate the next thing you should see is a screen entitled wsi endpoint with a listing of the available services, such as getWorksheetList, login, getWorkbook and so on.
    I will presume you are getting this far.
    When you click on, for example, login, you should see something like this:
    <aUserCredential xmlns:ns1="http://oracle.discoverer.applications.ws/IWsi.xsd"
    xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"
    xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
    xsi:type="ns1:oracle_discoverer_applications_ws_model_bean_UserCredential">
    <SSOUsername xsi:type="ns1:oracle_discoverer_applications_ws_model_bean_SSOUsername">
    <user xsi:type="xsd:string">String Value</user>
    </SSOUsername>
    <guid xsi:type="ns1:oracle_discoverer_applications_ws_model_bean_GUID">
    <id xsi:type="xsd:string">String Value</id>
    </guid>
    The one above is from my own installation which as you can see also has the references that you mentioned:
    http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema and GUID
    Mine is integrated with BI Publisher and so BI Publisher is providing the information that is needed to then successfully log on. I am not sure exactly what values are being passed to the parameters because these happen behind the scenes.
    Best wishes
    Michael

  • No stats for Web queries

    Hi Friends
    We are using portals to run reports.When the queries run on Bex analyser, stats recording fine but however when we run the queries on Portals,the stats are not recording.
    Then I did load data from RSDDSTAT table into 0BWTC_C02 cube.Now no.of navigation isok but overall time and meantime are displaying as '0'.
    What is the correct solution to record bw stats for web based queries?
    Regards,
    Chama.

    Hi
    My problem is not the performance problem.
    When query ran on portal then BW stats not showing the details of meantime ,overall meantime,time olap processor etc.
    When I run the stats query '0BWTC_C10_Q010' - Utilising OLAP, It's showing only number of navigations and it's showing remaining all the fields '0'.
    How can I resolve this problem.
