Discovery of Citrix Netscaler devices fails

I have two older Citrix Netscaler devices that is discovered fine, but 4 new'er devices (Netscaler NS10.5) is not discovered.
We can see that SCOM connects to the devices but SCOM says "No Response SNMP". Using a MIB browser I can connect to the newer Netscalers  and do a SNMP GET to read data from the MIB, however if I use a SNMP GET NEXT, the request time out so
now I get no data.
If do the same with the older Netscaler devices i.e. a GET and then a GET NEXT then I get data in both cases.
This actually corresponds to the Netscaler documentation that says that GET NEXT is no longer support on the newer Netscalers.
This leads me to think that SCOM might uses a GET NEXT in the discovery process. I haven't used a sniffer yet to check this.
If anyone has had the same problem and knows a workaround I'd be very happy to hear about it :)

Hi Ivan,
thanks for your reply.
The problem I have is the discovery via the SCOM 2012 network device discovery rule, which has to work before the Netscaler MP will see the device.  As I understand your reply it was the Commtrade Netscaler MP that didn't see the NS 10.5 devices right?
But I have not even tested the Netscaler yet.
I'm don't have access the the NS 10.5 device so I can't see how it's configured but I have found this information on the Citrix web site
http://support.citrix.com/proddocs/topic/ns-system-10-5-map/ns-ag-config-ns-snmp-vo-vt-query-con.html. I think the problem is that the new NS 10.5
by default does not accept Get-Next request and that this has to be configured first by configuring a community string and associate this string with both Get AND Get-Next, before the device will accept the Get-Next request that the SCOM discovery
rule sends after the initial Get request. Am I on the right track ?
Configuring the NetScaler for SNMP v1 and v2 Queries
You can query the NetScaler SNMP agent for system-specific information from a remote device called SNMP managers. The agent then searches the management information base (MIB) for the data requested and sends the data to the SNMP manager.
The following types of SNMP v1 and v2 queries are supported by the SNMP agent:
GET
GET NEXT
ALL
GET BULK
You can create strings called <var class="keyword varname">community strings</var> and associate each of these to query types. You can associate one or more community strings to each query type. Community string
are passwords and used to authenticate SNMP queries from SNMP managers.
For example, if you associate two community strings, such as abc and
bcd, to the query type GET NEXT, the SNMP agent on the NetScaler appliance considers only those GET NEXT SNMP query packets that contain
abc or bcd as the community string.
thanks again

I am unable to discover a Citrix Netscaler as a network device.
I've enabled tracing on the discovery and can see that the initial queries to the device are responding but then ther are timeouts attempting to access interface types.  The OID does timeout in a third party tool as well as there is no interface index

Itunes wont open and when re-installed received this msg: Service Apple mob device failed to start.  You have insufficent privileges to start system svc.  Help?

Download Itunes from Apple.com, not from within Itunes.
Redo the install, following the below procedure.   However, when you re-install Itunes,  right click and run the install as administrator.   For Win 7, you have to hold down the cntrl and shift keys when you right click and then "run as administrator" will be an option.
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (Vista, Win 7 & later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.

I was trying to do the latest update on my desktop for my Itunes.  I got MSVCR80.dll is missing.  I saw a post about deleting all the apple itunes programs, restarting and reinstalling.  I tried that.  As it was installing a message came up about "Service'Apple Mobile Device' failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start systems services.  I did a retry, got the same message, then hit ignore.  It went on.  Then a message popped up saying "Itunes not installed correctly"  Error 7 (Windows error 126)
Now my Itunes program will not open at all.  What gives?  This is very frustrating and I am not very computer literate to begin with.

  • I tried to update itunes it corrupted the previous version, I'm trying to install new copy get this message "service apple mobile device (apple mobile device) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privleges to start system services." Help!

Not sure what to do.  I've tried a system restore on my computer after the update in hopes of undoing the problem, that didn't work.  I've tried to install, the new version of itunes for over two days now and I get to the point where it says "starting services" and it almost get's done and then it gives me that message " Service apple mobile device (apple mobile device) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privledges to start system services."  Then it gives me three options to click on "abort", "retry" or "ignore".  I've tried to retry over and over and it does no good, I just get the same message.  I've tried ignore and the one time it did finish installing itunes, it didn't work, I got error messages telling me that it failed to download properly and I needed to delete the program and download it again.  I thought maybe it had something to do with my ipod not being pluged into the computer so I pluged that it and it's still giving me the same message.  I just don't know what to do.  I'm very frustrated and I would really appreciate it if someone could help me.  I'm completely out of ideas.

  • Apple Mobile Device Failed To Start

    Hi,
The other day I was trying to update iTunes to the latest version and there was an error which advised iTunes should be uninstalled and then reinstalled.
Following this I have uninstalled iTunes and attempted to reinstall in, however I am now faced with the following error "service apple mobile device failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services"
I have searched and found the work around to uninstall all apple software in a certain order and the attempt to reinstall. This hasn't worked, I've tried to start the service itself by going to administrative tools - services but this doesn't work.
I am trying to instal this on windows 7.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

  • Apple Mobile Device Failed to Start error during installation of iTunes

In an attempt to update my iTunes to the latest version, as prompted by a pop-up, the update failed.  I then tried to open iTunes from my desktop but a pop-up displayed that the program wasn't working properly and that I should re-install iTunes.  I removed the program and then attempted to re-install.  Midway through the install, I receive an error message that "Services "Apple Mobile Device" (Apple Mobile Device) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.
I can either Abort, Retry, or Cancel...none of which completes the install.
    Help.

    Chaps and chapesses,
I too was having the same problem when I tried to update and then unfortunately uninstall and re-install itunes. But, like Nige above me says, you need to uninstall all your Apple software and then re-install itunes.
Have a look at the response given to this forum post:

I did exactly as the turingtest2 said:
I removed all of these items in the following order:

    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Then I restarted my computer, and the install of itunes worked like a dream. None of this ignore, abort, cancel nonsense.
Hopefully all your respective versions of itunes will work soon. Cheers Nigel280

  • "Apple Mobile Device" failed to start. itunes does not recognize my iPhone4.

I decided it was time to resync the music on my iPhone since its been months. I begin the sync and after a minute or so, my iTunes suddenly does not recognize my iPhone and freezes. I honestly have no idea what happened but was undaunted.
OS is MS Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit SP1
    Now, after trying:
    - updating to iTunes 10.6.3, which stops installing after a popup saying "Service 'Apple Mobile Device' (Apple Mobile Device) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services. With the options Abort Retry or Ignore. Retry does nothing. Ignore allows iTunes to install but it doesn't recognize my phone still which is all I care to use iTunes for.
    - uninstalling all iTunes, Apple, Quicktime, and Bonjour software, which was difficult to do since you have to follow a particular order or else they wont actually uninstall.
    - performing a registry clean using CC Cleaner
    - wiping my compter's apple related Temp files in app data..
    - restarting with a clean boot... updating all drivers.. updating windows..
    I am becoming quite daunted.
I have done essentially every single thing I could find that might resolve this error. I restarted and tried again (this is the third or maybe four time) and it still will not install.
I cannot get any third party software to recognize the phone either since I need that Apple Mobile Device. I could always sync my library with Spotify but that's cumbersome and makes me not like my beautiful iPhone.
Any help would be AMAZING. I've run out of ideas.

The link above is bad... that account has been suspended.
Just an FYI, I'm running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit and had just downloaded Itunes 10.7 for this platform.
Please know that I have NEVER plugged any Apple device into this great computer.
I have the new Iphone 5 READY to plugin and in ANTICIPATION of installing that phone; I first wanted to start by installing Itunes without any hardware potentially messing up the works.
I have the exact same problem as reported here and in about 100 places here at Apple.  Please note this system has never seen ANY of these apple applications including quicktime, Itunes, Bonjour, or anything else from Apple for that matter.
So basically, I'm stuck.  I've read the articles at about 20 sites now and it looks like this is a SEVERE and widespread problem; however, I have yet to find a "real" solution.
Any advise would be greatly appreciated.  I'm an IT/Telecom Expert and it took me 3 hours to get the Iphone 5 setup and working properly (mainly because of the screen not working sideways for 95% of the configuration options and being forced to fat finger settings) including everything working with Icloud hosted contacts, facebook, a few networks and getting my gmail out of the way (of Icloud and facebook) and finally getting everything rocking, only to hit the wall when it came to Itunes.  Kind of a drag if you ask me.  (I'm thinking the Samsung Galaxy III that I returned to get this thing might have been less grief; but I guess we'll see).
Anyone with a real fix, please reply!  I could use the help BEFORE I try to plug this phone into my computer!
    Thanks!

Yes another user with problem with Apple Mobile Device Support, I am getting the error message: Service 'Apple Mobile Device'(Apple Mobile Device) failed to start. Vertify that you have sufficient privileges to start system service....I hit retry and it came up again. I hit ignore and it prompted me to hit finish so Itunes can open.   I looked thru alot of these posts on here to try and resolve this problem myself but it's not working too well...I downloaded Itunes to my desktop so I can right click it with the program i downloaded called WinRAR. I extracted it and then went into the folder called Itunes64setup. I saw the file called AppleMobileDeviceSupport64 in there so I began to try and download it on it's own. Well that didn't work as I planned and got this error message:
Apple Mobile Device Support wasn't installed on your computer. The installer encountered errors before Apple Mobile Device Support could be configured. Your system has not been modified. To retry these operations at a later time, please run the installer again.
Well I tried to run it again and came up with the same message...I see that some people got great support to help them so I am hoping someone can help me as well. I know "b nor" is very qualfied and hopefully can help me! Please advise what I can do. Thank you
