Discs don't come out, osx says "in use, close programs and try again"

I keep having this problem with cd roms and dvd's.
There are no programs visible that might be using the cd or dvd.
I tried command-option-escape to see what is active.
I know how to force it out by restarting.
I just switched from windows to apple and I am doing more restarts than ever before.....
please help me

Go to  Apple Menu > System Preferences... > CDs & DVDs make sure it's not set to "ignore".
Here are some ways of ejecting disks:
Restart and hold down the mouse button (wired mouse only)
or
Within the Finder go to the View menu and choose Customize Toolbar this allows you to add an Eject button to each Finder window.
or
Go to Macintosh HD > System > Library > Coreservices > Menu Extras > Eject.menu . Double click this to place an eject menu on the Menu Bar which persists in most applications.
or
1. Switch on/reboot
2. After the startup chime, press and hold the keys <command/apple> <alt/option> <o> and <f> ( ⌥ ⌘ F O )
3. At the command line prompt, type: eject cd
4. Hit Return, the optical drive will then eject.
5. Insert the Install disk.
6. Type: mac-boot
7. Hit return.

For what it's worth, you posted this in 2011, and here in 2014 I am still having this same issue. Over the last two days, I have had to unlock my apple account 8 times. I didn't get any new devices. I haven't initiated a password reset. I didn't forget my password. I set up two factor authentication and have been able to do the unlocking with the key and using a code sent to one of my devices.
That all works.
It's this having to unlock my account every time I go to use any of my devices. And I have many: iMac, iPad, iPad2, iPad mini, iPhone 5s, iPod touch (daughter), and my old iPhone 4 being used as an ipod touch now. They are all synced, and all was working just fine.
I have initiated an incident with Apple (again) but I know they are just going to suggest I change my Apple ID. It's a simple one, and one that I am sure others think is theirs. I don't want to change it. I shouldn't have to. Apple should be able to tell me who is trying to use it, or at least from where.

TS4268 iMessage and FaceTime are saying check the network connection and try again.

iMessage and Facetime started saying check the network connection and try again two days ago.

This same issue occurred with my IPhone 4S after updating to most recent iOS last week.
I tried http://support.apple.com/kb/ts4268 - this unfortunately did not help.

My iPod can't connect to Facetime. Message says to check network connection and try again. I have no trouble accessing other apps requiring an internet connection.

I have an iPad 2 16GB with iOS 7.0.3 and Netflix version 5.0.2. I cannot watch netflix on an External LCD monitor that I have through VGA out. I use bluetooth speakers, so the AirPlay is going to that for Audio. Before this update, this combo worked without an issue.
So as of Friday Nov. 8/2013, I contacted Netflix support, and they said they fixed the problem on their end, and the fix is on the Apple side of things, and to contact Apple support.
So, I contacted Apple support, and the first person I spoke to said I would have to agree to pay a $35 fee for 30 days of support to this problem since my unit is out of warranty. I said this isn't a hardware issue, it's a software issue, and I'm not willing to pay to fix a problem you created. So I got a Senior Level advisor on the line, and she was helpful, and she's looking into the issue for me and said she'll contact me sometime on Tuesday or Wednesday (Nov. 12 or 13) to let me know of the issue.
Here's the thing: this is a combination of Netflix and iOS not working correctly with any of the Apple Authorized Dongles. This is truly a code error that some hot shot programmer had major oversight on, and their management didn't catch it either. There was no reason for Netflix to rush to get this Netflix update going until Apple sorted out the bugs in iOS 7.
Anyway, if I hear anything from Donna (the advisor), I'll post it and let you guys know. In the mean time, good luck!

Sounds like a "hang at exit" problem. There are several possible causes for that error. See:

Try resetting your phone by pressing and holding the Home button and the power button unti the silver apple appears. If that doesn't work, contact the developer of the app.

Stop taking pictures with an iPad, it simply makes the user look like a fool.
Seriously though, basic troubleshooting is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).

When I try to use FaceTime on my Macbook Air, I try to verify the email I want people to call me with, and it says verified, but soon an message comes up that says "Could not verify the email address. Please check your network connection and try again."

So our school lets us use Macbook Airs for the school year, and it has facetime on it. I know facetime isn't blocked because like everyone else is using it. So I decide to give it a try. I click the icon, it says enter your apple ID. I dont have one, so I click to make one, and do so. I then enter my apple ID and click next. The screen reads "People will call you using your email address. What email address would you like to use?" I enter my email address in the box below the message, and then go to my email and click the link, and sign in, thus verifying the email. I go back to the facetime window, and click next. At the top it says Verified, but when I click next it doesn't go on to the next step, it simply blacks out the next button so that I can not click it, and after a few minutes a message comes up that says "Could not verify the email address. Please check your network connection and try again."
So that is the issue, please help!!!!!
*Note-I repeat that I know it is not blocked by the school because everyone else uses it just fine.*

Since you are using one of the the school's Macbooks, it is quite possible that the time and date are not properly set on the computer that you are using. FaceTime will not work if you do not have the proper time zone set up for the location that you are in. This past week, there were a two other Macbook users I've helped by simply telling them to set the Date/Time properly. By the way, you described your problem very well, which makes it easier for us to help you. Hope this solves your problem -- if not, post back and I can suggest other remedies.

Taken at face value, you're having trouble with an Apple Application Support program file there. (Apple Application Support is where single copies of program files used by multiple different Apple programs are kept.)
Let's try something relatively simple first. Restart the PC. If you're using Vista or 7, now head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "Apple Application Support" and then click "Repair". If you're using XP, head into your Add or Remove Programs control panel, select "Apple Application Support", click "Change" and then click "Repair".

I am having similar issues except that the store starts to load, then stops, then I only get iTunes Store in gray letters on a white screen. I can access playlist and the other stuff. Like flamesgirl, I contacted them and they just keep sending me links of stuff to try which I had already seen on the Apple website and nothing works. I posted the question on another forum I belong to and one responder said her husband was in an Apple store and asked about this problem as he was having the same issue. They said an update would be coming out soon as they were aware of the problem. Who knows.
