Dish receiver to apple display....what models will work?

I have a high def dish receiver and would like to connect to an apple cinema display. which display models will allow me to view tv from the receiver? what cables or adaptors do I need for the various displays that will work? I do not own a display but would like to purchase a used one at a reseanable price. Any advice will be much appreciated. Thanks Boca 151

I don't think you can do this. There are two current "flavors" of the apple 27" display -- one using a mini-displayport and one using thunderbolt. Forget the TB display, not a chance of using that (no adapters). As for the mini-displayport version, you need to somehow convert the video (and audio?) output from the dish receiver to a mini-displayport. HDMI-to-minidisplayport (female) adapter? Not sure about such a adapter. Even if it exists not sure it would work (are appropriate drivers required?). And even if the signals can get through probably HDCP copy protection will block the signal.
Considering apple 27"s cost around $1000, for that kind of money (actually a lot less) why not just get a decent HDTV and connect the dish receiver to it as it is intended to do?

I was able to get an Apple Studio Display to work via the adapter in the Mac Mini box combined with that huge DVI to ADC adapter they had sold me years ago. In the Apple Store I really had to press them to assure me my display would work as they told me they'd charge me a re-stock fee if I had to bring the Mini back. I pressed the point that Apple should know if a monitor it made works with a computer it made. The rep asked around and we both searched the web and then she was able to confirm it would work. They really need a list of acceptable monitors. If anyone locates such a list, please let us all know!

You didn't mention the kind of track in GB you are trying to create, but if you are connecting the keyboard with a guitar chord to the Tascam, you will need to set up a Real Instrument Track in GB to hear anything. If your keyboard has a midi out, use a midi cable to the midi input of the Tascam, create Software Instrument Track, and you will hear something. But with a guitar chord, it won't send the right signal to a Software Instrument Track. The headphone jack in the Tascam monitors the signal coming back to it out of GB (if you choose the US-122 as your monitor in GB's preferences), so you wouldn't hear your keyboard if the track is not set up correctly. It could be the drivers, but since you didn't mention the type of keyboard or the type of GB track, I thought that might be a possible answer as well.

I just cleaned the drive with a CD Lens cleaning kit, it looked like an ordinary CD but had two small brushes on it, a small amount of ethanol on the brushes, pop it in your superdrive, DVD's are now recognized
Was just a dirty laser, weird how it wrote CD's and not DVD's though, anyway, problem solved.
