Disjointed rollever question

Hi again. Loving this forum. What would take forever to figure out you guys already know!
I made a disjointed rollever effect on this page. http://isuckatgolf.net . You'll see in the middle of the page, the white arrows. Right now the arrows swap as your roll over them and the big photo changes as you roll over them and the arrows are links. What I'd like to do is have the image that loads first be made random. So when the page loads any of the 5 images might show up.
Also, but this isn't that important, I'd like the image you visited last to stay on the screen after you move off the arrow. This could be tricky since I couldn't name 4 of the 5 images since they were on my computer when I imported them and wasn't given an option window to name them.
But rather than fill the page with questions you get the idea. Is it possible? Do I have to re-make it from the beginning?

Disjointed rollover question

I have a floor plan of a shopping center with 24 rollover buttons. Each button has been sliced and linked to a frame (swap image) that shows the facade of a store. All photos (24 in all) preside in the same location on the canvas. Here is my problem, when previewing, only ten of the buttons work. No matter how I arrange and re-arrange behaviors, only ten buttons will link to the photos. I have tried this several times and the result is the same. Does Fireworks place a limit on the number of disjointed rollovers? I am using an older version (mx)...does anyone know if a later version fixed this? Any help is certainly appreciated!

I spent some time playing with a practice file this morning and everthing seems to work okay now, so it was something I did wrong. Thanks so much for your insight and advice.
I do have one more question. On the attached file, which is the practice file I mentioned above, I want to form a second target to a trigger. In my file, I inserted another slice and I linked the frame named SubLink Number 1 to trigger number 1. My objective is to have the sublink L1 appear only when targeted image number 1 is triggered. In the real world, this sublink would be either detailed pictures or text describing the original target scene when triggered. When I proceeded to link Button number one to the sublink, it worked fine, but it also appears when I pressed any of the other buttons...which is not a desirable event. What am I missing?

Disjoint name space question

I'm working with an organization where the Active Directory domain name and primary DNS suffix are both:
wxyz.com
For some reason, the NetBIOs name of the domain is:
XYZ
So users can logon with this NetBIOS name\username combination:
XYZ\jsmith
Technically, I believe this is a disjointed namespace.
Question: is any remedial action necessary before migrating from Exchange 2007?
I see that for other disjoint namespace scenarios, one would have to modify the msDS-AllowedDNSSuffixes attribute on the domain controller container or adjust the DNS suffix search list.
Since this is a NetBIOs name (not DNS), is there anything to do?
I've looked at a number of sources (for Exchange 2010 and 2013)...

I'd still follow the points that are listed in your article David. This is in the Exchange 2013 post.
Scenario: NetBIOS name of domain controller differs from subdomain of its DNS domain name
It does ask for the additional steps to be taken, and while it may work without I would not go against the documentation.
The other thing you can do, is to do a cross forest migration to a new forest that is not disjoint. I know that is a lot of work but then you will not run into these issues. The same thing applies for customers who have a single label domain.
It's DNS name is not "contoso.com", the DNS name is "contoso". Yes you can do that, but it is not a good place to be in.....

Button and 'disjointed' rollover

I have put a button in the first frame of a movie clip and a
graphic and the second and third frames. The graphics give the
appearance that the button is being highlighted in a way different
than when you actually roll over the button itself. I am doing this
so that when you rollover a button you can show other buttons with
the secondary highlights.
My questiona are, why does my button loose its own behavior
when I attach a behavior to the movie clip it is contained in?
How can I get both the 'disjointed' rollover and the buttons
own rollover to work at the same time?

Thank you for your reply, I think I understand the 'why' now.
What I mean by the secondary highlights is what I show on the
right-side of my example. I want to mouse over a button and have
another button become 'highlighted' in a way that is different than
the normal button over or down state.
I'm really trying to solve this. I can make it work if I use
a movieclip for all of the button 'states' of up, over, down,
highlight 1, highlight 2 (each in their own frame). I then just add
all of the 'go to frame 2' kind of code and the 'go to frame 4 in
this other button' kind of code to the movieclip. The problem is
that I have 77 of the same 'button' symbol on one page, thats alot
of code to make mistakes with. And I can't make a symbol with all
of the code for 'go to frame 2 on mouseover' already in the
movieclip symbol or I run into the same problem i already have.
Please help me understand this, it seems like it should be
simple.

The Sports Associations (SA) wants to choose 2 teams of 4 people each
to send to games. There are 13 people who want to be members of
the teams. The SA tries grouping them in various ways to see which
athletes perform well together. Each grouping gets one test run on the
test track and their time is recorded. Your task is to help the SA
choose two disjoint teams of 4 such that the sum of their practice times
is minimal.
Input
There will be several input instances. The first line of each instance
gives the total number of practice runs. This will be followed by n lines.
Each of those lines will contain 5 numbers: p1 p2 p3 p4 t
t is the time taken (in milliseconds) by the team consisting of p1, p2, p3 and p4.
The time taken will not be more than 2 minutes.
The end of the input will be indicated by a line with n=0.
Output
Output the best total time for the two teams that you choose.
If it is impossible to choose two disjoint teams from the test runs given, output -1.

Arabic PDF characters are disjointed and reversed!

Hello guys,
I have a serious and urgent issue and I hope this expert community could help me out in finding a solution for it.
I have a magento CMS ecommerce based group buying deals website based in UAE and my developers have coded it in a way to send out PDF coupon vouchers in Arabic language to customers who bought the deal.
The problem is that the characters inside the PDF look very akward! They are disjointed and not connected together and they are displayed in a reversed order which can only be readable from left to right. So in other words the coupon vouchers in Arabic look extremely messy!
I have no idea what I need to do in order for me to fix this, do I need to work on the unicode? Is there a specific Arabic font I can use to resolve this?
Any help would be extremely appreciated guys!

You can try and contact whoever typed up the coupon. They have the original document and the program that created it, they should fix it and post a new PDF.
Acrobat can do minor edits, but it is not a proper Arabic language creator or editor.
First be sure that "enable right-to-left language options" is checked in your Acrobat preferences:
Maybe that will fix it.
If you can't get the people who designed your coupon to fix the problems, you can save the PDF as a Microsoft Word document and edit in an Arabic version of Word. Word should have proper Arabic fonts and right to left text flow. Then you convert to PDF from Word's Acrobat tab. It is not the best answer, but if you cannot go back to the place that designed your coupon, you may have to redo it in a proper editor and export it to PDF.
The command in Acrobat to convert your PDF to Word is: File > Save As > Microsoft Word > Word Document

Can I create a disjointed rollover for videos?

I am working on a webpage that I created a disjointed rollover for thumbnails that I want individuals to see a larger image of.
While I was working, I wondered if I could create a disjointed rollover for a video? I would use thumbnails for the viewer to rollover and when they do rollover I would want a swf video to play. Is this possible? Any suggestions on how to go about it?

I would not let anyone else determine whether your choice is wrong or right without knowing all of the details. Let's consider that you've made the considerations already and for anything else you're simply asking to see if it's possible or not and you're looking for suggestions on how to go about it. I mean, that is what you asked in your original post isn't it? I re-read your original post and I didn't see anywhere in there where you were asking others whether they thought this was the right choice or not...
Perhaps you want to save the mouseclick so the user can click the thumbnail and view the entire video while mouseover plays a small preview in disjointed? The other poster probably didn't think too much about it though.
To directly answer your question: yes, it's possible to mouseover a thumbnail to play a video. Depending on the intended use a method like this is not only acceptable, it's expected. Many highly-regarded websites use this technique including http://videocopilot.net and http://istockphoto.com to name a few. A method like this allows for faster browsing and preview of videos instead of requiring a user to not only mouseover the thumbnail, but then continue to click once to display preview and then click once again to close the lightbox. That's a cumbersome method for the user if they want to preview many videos.

Im building this web page more or less as a favor for my
sister-in-law, and Im building it to further educate myself about
Web Design.
Simple question, the link above takes you to the "Gallery"
section.
What I want to do is when the you roll the mouse over the
text on the left, (Gallery, Senior Photos, Engagements, etc) I want
the picture on the right to change to whatever the mouse is
hovering over. So like Engagements shows an engagement photo, while
weddings shows a sample wedding photo, directly to the right of the
text. I also want the image to pre-load.
How can I do this? It sounds so simple but I can not figure
out how to do it

Rollover images question + site deffinition tool

Hi, I took a course in Dreamweave but unfortunately lost my notes. I am making a gallery site for myself and would like to have roll over images where one rolls over a thumbnail at the bottom of the page and a larger image in the middle changes to the thumbnailed one. Prefferably without the larger image reverting back to whatever image 0 was. If wome one could please explain the simpleset way to do this, or direct me to a really simple explination, I would be very greatful.
Also I have a question about the site deffinition tool. Is there a way to use it that does not involve creating an extra folder? I already have defined folders for a site and I would like that to be just it.

CSS Disjointed Text Rollovers help?

Hi All
I am new to the site and have a question to ask,
I have been playing around with the demo created by Nancy O, for css disjointed text rollover. What i would like to find out is, once i have created the rollover and i hover over it, the text in the window is all active. is there a way to "de-activate that text? so once i have created it all, have the "read more" on my page, click on it and the rollover opens. i have say for example three paragraphs, but my cursor shows that the whole window is active. i want to change that so that there might only be a little image to say close and that the cursor goes back to normal within that window.
It sounds simple if i think about it but cannot get it to work.

My client wants a tool develped for his website that will allow customers to develp their own widget. The website is currently built to be responsive (i.e. elastic to adjust to whatever viewport size a customer might visit the site with whether a desktop or a mobile device). Thank you for the help. I think I may be confused by the addition/need for linked text in the target image.
I know I should code things in Dreamweaver, but I do not know how to add the text to each target image. You see, I have a navigation bar with simple icons. Above this bar, I have one slice that is to contain sub-navigation links.
For example, I have a slideshow icon. When the user rolls over this icon, I want the slice above to display with listed text that is linked to the appropriate slideshow page.
Is there a way to do this? I know I have seen it is some sites, can't find them now though.
Any advice?

They work for me, but you are not doing yourself a favor by letting the QT file auto-play. It will block UI interavctivity in many cases. As for you otehr question - an image is an image. CSS doesn't care whether the format in itself is animated or static.

OID: ldap Name Space question

Experts for OID, need your help with following:
OID will be used to store user accounts
(will later sync from a local Active Directory, so all users in AD will appear in OID)
Following is the information about Active Directory.
The AD domain is adauth.local
so user accounts are [email protected]
Question: When installing OID, need your suggestions for following entries during OID installation
1. LDAP v3 Name Space: dc=adauth,dc=local (is this ok?)
2. OID information Realm: dc=adauth,dc=local (is this ok?)
Are above entries for LDAP Name Space ok during OID installation?
I am trying to match AD LDAP Name space with OID, since OID will sync from AD user accounts.
Is this ok?

have a couple of questions and was wondering if anyone could help
me out. I want to know how (or if some one could send me a
tutorial) on how to Create a form on a webpage using Dreamwaver in
which when the user fills it out and presses submit it will email
me with the information he has entered. I would also like to know
how to make it so when your mouse hovers over a picture it blows up
and has a bigger image on the screen.

There are only two ways to process form data -
1. Use mailto:[email protected] as the action of the form
2. Use a server-side scripting method to a) harvest the
form's data, b)
process it in some manner, e.g., enter it into a database, c)
formulate and
send an email to one or more email recipients, and d)
redirect the visitor
to some ending page
Method 1 is quite simple, and is also the least reliable. It
depends both
on your visitor having an email client already installed on
their computer -
this eliminates public computers, or home users without email
clients
installed (more and more it seems) - and on the installed
email client
responding to
the mailto call. It is not possible to use this method *and*
send the
visitor to a
thank you page as well.
Method 2a is the preferred method, since it eliminates the
problems of
method
1, but it means that you have to grapple with
server-scripting somehow (ASP,
CF, PHP, perl, etc.).
Method 2b would be to use some third-party form processing,

Smart Tab matching question

We have two Smart Tabs that are presenting us with a challenge.
Tab 1: Sterling Memorial Library
Album name matches "Sterling Memorial Library"
Tab 2: Sterling Memorial Library Tour
Album name matches "Sterling Memorial Library Tour"
Our problem is that Tab 2 content is showing up in Tab 1 and we don't want it there. It appears that the issue is that Smart Tabs don't do exact matches.
Question: is there any way to overcome this problem without renaming our Albums. For example, I tried to put double quotes around the matching term to indicate that I only wanted those three words, but that didn't work.
Any ideas?

Chris, I haven't verified this with a test, but I bet it would work. If not, lunch is on me.
When specifying smart tab search criteria, the term "matches" should be read as "contains the substring". This is likely what you want most of the time. You're likely to say, for example, "I want to create a smart tab with stuff of interest to French students ... so I'll search for tracks whose "Title" matches "French".
Problem is that "Sterling Memorial LIbrary" is a proper substring of "Sterling Memorial Library Tour" ... you have to break that connection to get the results you want. The simplest was is to that would be like this:
Tab 1: Sterling Memorial Library
Album name matches "Sterling Memorial Library"
Tab 2: Sterling Memorial Library Tour
Album name matches "Memorial Library Tour"
See? Neither string is a proper substring of the other ... so they must return disjoint results.
