I have reinstalled intunes and repaired it but still no joy...

  • Data DVD burn cancels

I have tried repeatedly to burn a back-up data DVD of a playlist. The burn cancels in the first song. I have culled through the playlist and removed anything purchased online or shifted over from another desktop on the same computer. None of the songs are from the iTunes store; all have been uploaded from CDs and are listed as MPEG audio files. I am not concerned about preserving playlists, etc. just want to back up the songs. The ultimate goal is to transfer the library to a new Mac (don't have it yet).
My knowledge is basic, so please use simplistic language in any responses!
    Thank you.

  • No disk burning software installed warning

My 12 year old Granddaughter needed some help with her iPod and a disk burning problem. The iPod was a snap, she probably knows more about it than I do! But the real problem is how I may have installed Panther on my old iMac 400DV which she now uses. When she wants to burn a CD from iTunes, the blank CD shows up fine ( including on the Desktop ) but she gets a warning that she can't burn the CD because there is "no disk/c burning software installed"!
Is it possible that I could have installed Panther and not installed the needed pieces to burn a CD?
I know I burned CD's in OS 9 before I upgrade the OS and gave her the iMac. Is it possible that the version of iTunes in her version of Panther is the problem? I don't know exactly which version she has of iTunes, but I see many posts here about 6.0.3 fixing burning problems. I'm using a plain jane 6.0 version in Tiger with no problems.
I just need to know what pieces to update/fix. As you can imagine, burning CD's for ones family is a big problem for some 12 year olds!

You are totally correct, I discovered that after searching Apple spec sheets. I suppose that is why I bought a firewire CD burner! [headbash] Since I gave all the hardware ( iMac, scanner, etc, ) to my Granddaughter, I don't have it sitting here in front of my nose! So I'm claiming that and my age as the reason for the question!
And it was not custom ordered. Similar to my brain which is also the 'stock' model. Problem is, there are too few connections or too many bad 'cells'. Perhaps they need a faster refresh cycle, also.
Anyway, thanks for the answer. hope you got a laugh at my forgetfulness.

  • Error 2510/2355 - Disk burner or software not found

When I run as administrator, I get Error 2510. When I run as a regular user, I get Error 2355. Either way, and in safe mode or not, I get the "Disk burner or software not found" error when trying to burn CDs. iTunes was working wonderfully for ages and overnight (literally) it stopped writing CDs. There has been no new hardware or software in my system around the time it stopped working (unless my anti-virus missed something). Help please!
    What I’ve tried:
    Un-install and re-install iTunes.
Steps from: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3299 (but then CDROM didn't work for regular use)
All of the steps from: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2308 including solution 3 (manually un- and re-install GEAR drivers)
Ran System File Checker (no problems found), reboot, reinstall Gear Drivers
NOTE: When putting a CD into the drive, I can select Play From Itunes and it works fine.

  • "Disk Burner Not Found..." My turn -

Or, "When does the Help Reply 72 hour response start?"
First of all, thank you, and you know who you are, for the fix to the Burner Not Found issue. This little rant is simply to help others who will have the same problem as I.
I’m brand new to iPods and the like, and it was the Nano that got me hooked – very impressive. I also was very impressed with iTunes too.
After I imported all my CD’s I decided to burn backup some DVD’s – mostly ‘cause I could. And I was able to, well at least three of them. Then, admittedly for reasons I don’t recall, I did a firmware update for my DVD (and yes, I got the right one).
That’s when iTunes started to give me the “Disk Burner or Software Not Found” error. What seemed odd to me was that I could still Import a CD, in the Preferences - Advanced - Burning tab, the disk burner iTunes couldn’t find was listed. And, with other software, burning a disk worked just fine.
I did as many as you did, I removed iTunes (saving my music under a different name, and location), reinstalled iTunes with the same results.
Finally, I found you good people, and read the fix, well – part of the fix. I tried putting my burner in the first Asus grouping I found the in gcdoem.cfg – that didn’t work, so I did as someone else here did, I put it in every grouping I found that already had an Asus burner listed – which worked.
    So, thank you.
Oh, then the funny part. When I restarted iTunes, I got this message – “Could not find your preferred Disk Burner. Ok to use E: ASUS DRW-1608P (ATAE:) instead?”
Ah, my “preferred” burner? – that would be the only one I have…
    Phat
p.s. Could someone explain to me, why in the config file, almost every grouping of burners calls the same dll?
    Weird.

    Hey Phat
This seems to be the same problem I've got and exactly the same burner. But when I add the entries to gcdoem.cfg I still have the same problem. Could you show me exactly the entries you added just incase I've done it wrong.

If you have multiple drives on the same IDE or SCSI bus, these drives may interfere with each other.
Some computers need an update to the ATA or IDE bus driver, or Intel chipset. If iTunes has problems recognizing CDs or hanging or crashing while importing or burning CDs, check the support site for the manufacturer of your computer or motherboard.

  • No Disk Burning Software/ BurnerFound

When I try to burn a cd in iTunes (version 6.0.1), I click on the burn button, it opens to the burn icon, waits a second, then tells me "Disk burner or software not found", even though I have Roxio Toast, and as perfectly functional CD/DVD Burner, what's wrong?

    Hello Brian,
Chances are that the CD burner is unsupported in iTunes but just to make sure, open up the System Profiler by clicking on the Apple Logo on the upper left of the screen and click on About This Mac. Then click on More Info. On the left-hand list, click on "Disc Burning". It should then list the drives that are supported (either Vendor Supported or Apple Supported). If your drive is unsupported, you should try to install PatchBurn: http://www.patchburn.de/download.html
    Hope that helps.

  • External disk burner for G3 crt 600mhz imac?

    Hi:
I'd like to get an external USB-connected disk burner device for my old but trusty G3 600mhz imac (256meg memory - 10.2.8).
Main purpose would be to burn audio cd's off itunes vr6.0.4.
Any hardware recommendations? Don't want it to be too much $$.
    Cheers.........

With your G3's onboard USB 1.1 bus (max. 12 Mbps data transfer), any USB burner that you connect will be limited to burning at 4x or slower. Trust me, you don't want to burn CDs at 4x or less. You should use the onboard FireWire bus (max. 400 Mbps data transfer), for fast/efficient burning. You can always check eBay for a bargain on one, or buy an external FireWire case and install the ATAPI burner of your choice. I'd avoid a burner that has a proprietary design with integrated drive, because you can't remove and replace the drive itself, if it develops a problem. A web search will provide a number of dealers (PC & Mac) that carry the cases and drives. I've used a Sony external FireWire CD-RW (12-8-32) drive with my iMac DV for a few years now, without any problems. You may want to check out this auction, for the faster Sony (16-10-40) CD-RW drive that replaced the previous model that I use. Of all of the external optical drives that I own, the Sony is built to last. These external CD-RW drives have since been phased out, because DVD burners can burn CD-R/RW and DVD±R/RW disks.
