Disk cleanup runs when idle then vanishes/updates fail daily
My pc is only a few weeks old. A few things are happening that aren't normal though.
First, whenever I'm idle for a few minutes, disk cleanup apparently runs. Once I move my mouse though the cleanup window vanishes. I know its not a disk space issue, I'm only a fraction into the TB drive space. Why does this happen and
how can I stop it?
Also, everyday I shut down my computer it says Update and shut down which I do vecause I need to shut down and thats the only option. When I turn my computer on the next day when windows loads it says something along the lines of updates couldn't be
installed, undoing changes, retrying and then I can log into windows. Rinse and repeat that process every single day >.<
Why is this happening and how do I correct the issue. I'm probably going to have to call tech support aren't I? :(
EDIT-and I posted this in the wrong spot :(

Error software when i try to update fail ios 8.02
hello Friends,
i have a iPhone 4s 16 gb, i was trying update to IOS 8.02 but my phone restar it , and now it start on mode restore and it display to i should restore my phone, and my information would be lost ,
mmmmm
my icloud was outdate , i dont have backup,
i shouldn't have to update my iPhoneSorry, but if you are seeing the USB cable and the iTunes logo on your screen, it means that your device did go into Recovery mode, and you will have to restore it now.
Before updating any iOS software, you should do a backup of your device. There is no guarantee that you won't run into issues when doing such an update (especially if you are doing it OTA, where issues with Wifi may create problems that no one has any control over).
If you are in Recovery mode as described above, then your data is already gone. You need to restore your device:

We are having an issue with a Win7 B&C that I can't seem to get around at the moment.
The B&C TS goes something like this :
Apply Image - Win7 vanilla install that has been captured with all deployed updates on it.
Install Standard Apps - Various standard apps including Office and Lync etc.
Apply Updates - There are a number of these because of the amount of apps installed.
Prepare Config Manager Client & OS
Capture Image
The TS seems to fail at the Prepare Config Manager Client stage and gives the error :
Failed to delete policies compiled by TaskSequence (0x80041032)
I've read around about the problem and it seemed to suggest that this is a problem when there are too many updates being applied but it was solved with SP1. We are running 2012 SP1 CU3 but we are still seeing the problem.
Some of the posts suggest dividing the B&C TS into multiple TS's to solve this but we have already divided it into 4 different sections and are seeing the issue still. I am also tried offline servicing to reduce the number of updates but as this
doesn't do Office updates etc it's only of limited use.
Below is the smsts.log file (section with the errors).
Is anyone else seeing this issue or have any thoughts on what it might be?

Received notice from Apple to upgrade iTunes with 11.1.4 on my Dell PC running Win 7 Ultra.During upgrade got error message R6034 several tries (app's attempt to load C runtime library incorrectly in Visual C + + runtime library). Apple's suggestion to uninstall iTunes and reinstall with ver. 11.1.4. Tried that, it failed too. Now have no iTunes, think I have lost all saved podcasts and music, and get no help from Apple. What to do?

How to update around 12 lac record when using co-related update
Hello Everyone
I have two tables and 14 columns in them are similar, I mean have the same name
Now I want to update 1 column using the records in the other table by using join condition so I wrote a code but as the records are around 12 lac which need to be updated so my code hangs after 25%
UPDATE TABLE A
SET A.COLUMN1=(SELECT B.COLUMN1
FROM TABLEL B
WHERE B.COLUMN2 = A.COLUMN2
AND B.COLUMN3 = A.COLUMN3
AND B.COLUMN4= A.COLUMN4
AND B.COLUMN5 =A. COLUMN5
AND B.COLUMN6 = A.COLUMN6
AND B.COLUMN7=A.COLUMN7
AND B.COLUMN8 = A.COLUMN8
AND B.COLUMN9 = A.COLUMN9
AND B.COLUMN10 = A.COLUMN10
AND B.COLUMN11 = A.COLUMN11
AND B.COLUMN12 = A.COLUMN12
AND B.COLUMN13 = A.COLUMN13
AND A.PLAN_ID = 1000000300
AND B.PLAN_ID = 1000000300)
WHERE COLUMN14= 1000000300
AND COLUMN15=1000000002please suggest a way that the update could be done easily

Application Manager Updates Fail
Seen the new features in Photoshop CC and want to ipdate. All updates in Application Manager fail. Is that because the CC Connection isn't working either?
Jumped the gun on CC, sorry.
Starts to download then says: "Update failed." Updating through applications has issues too. Get a message that the updates are complete, then reads "Some of the components of the following products could not be updated successfully" and lists all the programs it was supposed to update.
Get a flashing alert that says: "Unable to sync file(s) Click to view online help." Which inturn says Cloud is ofline for upgrades. But that's it. Turn off the alert per instructions. Pretty sure I don't have anyting stored on the Cloud, so not really an issue. When't is coming back? -
U530 bios update fails.
I have downloaded a new verios of bios update (7ccn35ww) but I am unable to update the bios. Every time I run the tool, it automatically restarts the system and tries to update, when it complains that "Update failed. Secure Flash"
Does anyone know why ?aminvali wrote:

Hi aminvali,
Just to cover all the bases, what is your current BIOS? When did you purchase your U530? To find your current BIOS, just spam F2 upon a cold boot, and enter the BIOS utility. If you have Win 8, see this article:
https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Windows-8-and-8-1-Knowledge-Base/How-to-get-into-BIOS-in-Windows-8/ta-p...
The reason I ask, is because if your U530 was bought in the last few months, you could already have the 7CNN35WW BIOS loaded in your system. Lenovo usually loads the last BIOS available to them in the manufacturing plant, before they post it on their support site. Hence, if you try to flash the same BIOS you already have loaded, it will generate an error.
Please report back with your results.
Edit: Also, assuming that 35WW file is a new BIOS for your system, when you downloaded the file, did you put it in the Lenovo D: drive?
Have you tried this:
Turn off the comupter. Enter BIOS. Change boot mode from UEFI to Legacy on the last tab. Save changes. Boot Windows. Run update file again. After successfull update return your BIOS settings back
Cheers

Email Account Setup Failed: "Update Failed"
Hello,
Firstly, I am aware that there is another post for the Storm with a similar issue, and they have come to some sort of conclusion. However, here is my problem....
I have a BlackBerry Bold 9700. I am using the Email Setup wizard to add an existing email account to my phone.
I have made sure that I am using the correct setting and my email address and password are correct (I can use them to log in to my webmail). When I get to the "Email Address" and "Password" it says "processing, please wait" for about 3 minutes and then says "update failed".
I have checked my domain/hosting website for support and they have instructions for adding email accounts of this type to the BB9700 linked below....
http://123-support.co.uk/support/answers/how-do-i-setup-email-on-blackberry-1170/
It appears that I cannot get past the initial address/password screen to enter my POP and IMAP settings.
Any help would be excellent, if my Blackberry cannot set this up, I will grudgingly get rid my my BB and get something else that will be able to do this, as its a business email address that I need to set up and have access to.
I have already set up a Hotmail, GMail, and one other web based email account on my BB using the wizard, currently I only have GMail and the one other webmail account on my BB as Hotmail was no longer required, so I know that this should be possible as I have been able to set up this type of account before and also going on my domain/hosting support, there is specific guidelines for setting up email on BB9700.
Any help would be great as I am stumped...
Cheers for having a look....
JamesIf you don't get the "enter data manually" option like I wasn't, try entering a bad password. That was the only way it would give me the manual setup option.

Windows Update Cleanup option is missing when running Disk Cleanup
I am running a domain controller on Window Server 2008 R2 and I am running low on C drive space. I have installed KB2852386 and I have Cleanmgr.exe and Cleanmgr.exe.mui in the system32 and system32\EN-us folders respectively. But when I log in as administrator
and run Disk Cleanup on the C drive, I do not get an option for Windows Update Cleanup. My winsxs folder is 16Gb and I would dearly like to recover some of that space.Didn't think it would have been a WSUS server but just thought I'd check as that always complicates things...
I do need to clarify though, which version of Windows Server are you running? Your original post says 2008 R2, but your reply suggests it's just 2008 (mainly because 2008 R2 only has SP1).
If that's the case, you'll need to use the Compcln.exe tool. This removes archived files that are used in case you ever wanted to roll back an update, or even an entire service pack. Once the archived files are removed you can no longer remove SP2.
To use the tool, simply run compcln at a command prompt.
I honestly can't say how much space it will save. There are pages of discussions out there regarding WinSxS and why it takes up so much space. If you're still struggling after this you may have to look to hardware options...
I'll leave you with one last link to check out - just a blog explaining a bit more about WinSxS if you are interested.
What is the WINSXS directory in Windows 2008 and Windows Vista and why is it so large?
Best of luck

James Henderson

Disk Cleanup in Windows 8.1 running by itself
Hi,
I'm having a strange problem. If I let my PC idle for around 5 minutes, the disk cleanup utility pops up and analyzes my PC, then
leaves the window open showing what could be cleaned up, etc. However, if I move the mouse, the window vanishes.
I'm running Win 8.1, and I have two hard drives, a 250GB SSD and a 1.5TB HD. I just installed the 1.5TB drive today, so that might
have something to do with it, but to be honest, I don't recall if this problem started before or after I installed the 1.5GB drive.
This is happening every 5 minutes or so - makes it hard to enjoy a movie or anything that would leave the computer idle. I Googled
a lot and couldn't find anything. I've run disk cleanup by hand and let it do its thing for both drives, but it didn't help.
Any ideas? It's getting annoying. I can't even drag it off to the side of the screen because it vanishes the moment I move the mouse.
If I can't figure it out, I guess I can unplug the 1.5TB and see if that fixes it. Then I will at least know the culprit. Thanks for the ideas. I did check the startup tab in the Task Manager, but it only had things I expected to be there. Nothing strange that would cause disk cleanup to start.
However, Roger Lu is on the same track I am on. It is related to a task in the Task Scheduler. There are four items in particular that seem to be linked to each other:
Idle Maintenance
Manual Maintenance
Regular Maintenance
Maintenance Configurator
I'm fairly sure it is Regular Maintenance that is causing the issue. I went in and told it to not stop the process if my system was idle, after that disk cleanup stopped disappearing when I moved my mouse or had any other kind of input.
I am still tinkering with the others, setting them to not stop the maintenance as well to double check and make sure that they aren't compounding the problem.
I just wish there was a list of what Regular Maintenance does, and a way to change it, as with the other maintenance tasks too. I feel as though these shouldn't be disabled because Windows set them in the first place.
Could you talk a look in your Task Scheduler, then double click on Maintenance Configurator and tell me if you have the same four items as I do? Are any of them listed as running? Are they disabled or ready?
I'm just about ready to disable the one that is causing problems, and re-enable it once a month or so to let it do whatever it is it does.
Here's some screenshots for you, Robert Lu and others:

I have an imac running 10.4.11 and i downloaded the update software from apple downloads and when i try to update to 10.5.1 it says open failed this version requires 10.5 what should i do?
You would have to purchase a retail Leopard installer DVD. Since they are difficult to find you may need to search on eBay, Amazon.com, and Google to find a suitable copy.
If you have an Intel iMac, then you may want to consider upgrading to Snow Leopard which you can purchase at any Apple retailer for $29.00 versus the minimum price of $129.00 for Leopard.
Leopard System requirements
You must have a Macintosh computer with:
an Intel processor or a PowerPC G4 (867 MHz or faster) or G5 processor
a DVD drive >built-in FireWire
at least 512 MB of RAM (additional RAM is recommended for development purposes)
a built-in display or a display connected to an Apple-supplied video card supported by your computer
at least 9 GB of disk space available, or 12 GB of disk space if you install the developer tools
Snow Leopard General requirements
Mac computer with an Intel processor
1GB of memory
5GB of available disk space
DVD drive for installation
Some features require a compatible Internet service provider; fees may apply.
Some features require Apple’s MobileMe service; fees and terms apply.
And, you could also upgrade to Lion by purchasing the Apple USB Lion flash drive installer for $69.00.
Lion System Requirements
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
2GB of memory
OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
7GB of available space
Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply. -
Disk Cleanup won't run (doesn't start)
ultimately i'm trying to cleanup the Windows Installer and SxS folders, but i can't seem to get the cleanup utility to start.
Configuration:
Panasonic ToughPad G1
Windows 7 x86 (latest updates)
i have 3 of these toughpads and the disk cleanup only works on 1 of them. the other two, i've tried running it from the disk properties panel (on the general tab), i've tried searching "disk cleanup" and running it as admin, and then i just browsed
to the cleanmgr.exe in sys32 and ran that as admin. in every case, i get a half-second of hourglass and then nothing.
on the computer that does work, i can just hit the button in disk properties (as a normal local user) and it starts scanning the disk.
i have no idea what i'm missing. any thoughts??
~if this were /. this sig would be funnyHi,
Have you tried the suggestion mentioned by
Balamurugan? Any result?
Meanwhile, according to this blog
http://blogs.technet.com/b/askpfeplat/archive/2013/10/08/breaking-news-reduce-the-size-of-the-winsxs-directory-and-free-up-disk-space-with-a-new-update-for-windows-7-sp1-clients.aspx
disk cleanup plugins for Disk Cleanup are listed under the registry entry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\VolumeCaches
I suggest you check whether there're some corruptions or permission issue for the registry entry in the problematic pcs, you can compare it with another one (which is functioning fine).
or some third party tool you installed conflict with the built-in disk cleanup tool.

When I click on Firefox the first time it says "Foxfire is installing your updates and will start in a few moments…. (with a green bar)" then it says "Software Update Failed (in blue) with an exclamation mark inside a yellow triangle)
The update could not be installed. Please make sure there are no other copies of Firefox running on your computer, and then restart Firefox to try again." When I click the ok, Firefox opens up. If I open another Firefox window with the previous one still running, it doesn't give me any of these messages, it just opens normally.

Every time Firefox openedIf you can't install on top of the current installation then you need to delete or rename the current Firefox program folder to do a clean install.
It is possible that your security software is using or locking files, so you can try to temporarily disable that software during the installation. -
I keep getting the following error message when I try to update my itunes, "There is a problem with this windows installer package. Aprogram run as part of the set up did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor."
Yes, I had found a similar solution also. I'm running XP Pro, SP3. I went Control Panels/ Add-Remove programmes/apple software update/ change/ repair. Then run the 10.5 exe.
While the programme updated from version 8 of iTunes, my new iTunes is now a mess. Not all of my music was in the same folder previously but it all showed up on iTunes. Now many albums have been left out, some have only a few tracks and some have two copies of some tracks as well as having other tracks missing. I haven't begun to work on that.
