Disk ejecting automatically during import

I hooked up my camera to the computer and proceded to import a clip dirctly from the camera to FCPX. I noticed that it was running a bit slow but didnt think much of it untill I tried to share the master file and nothing was there. I noticed that on the clip in the event library it had a picture of a camera and the task wheel was at 100% and it probably shouldnt have finished as quick as it did so I figured it must not have imported from the camera and its just seeing the clip on the SD card in the camera or something. So, I closed FCPX to start over fresh and I took the SD card out and poped it into the reader. I then proceded to try again, at this point it started to import but at 10% the apple error message for improperly ejecting a disk popped up and the import failed. I then tried again and same thing. I then deleted everything I did for that project closed FCPX, reopened and tried again. This time it got to 18% before failing. Its the same process I always use and this is the first time Ive had this problem. Im going to restart my computer now and do the option+command+P+R thing during boot up but in the mean time...any thoughts?

Well, with respect, everybody's got a preferred workflow. When I upload 3 or 4 16GB cards, the last thing I want is manually reviewing each photo before ejecting.
Lightroom allows me to eject without erasing and without having to manually click each card I've inserted. It's amazing how convenient it is when you get used to it. And it has never failed to copy all pictures.
As far as I can tell, Aperture doesn't offer that facility. And to me, at the moment, this might well be a deal breaker.

  • External Disks Ejected Improperly During Sleep

New MB Pro with a LaCie 2Big Thunderbolt external ejects the external drives when it goes to sleep. I'll put the system to sleep in the evening and find it on in the morning with the "Disks Not Ejected Properly" message. The problem is intermittent. I see a lot of discussion about this but no experts have weighed in and there is no solution that works (including the "Swiss" solution).
I'm very concerned about damaging the data on my external, is there a solution to this problem, or a workaround?

Ask Apple.  This is a long-running problem that predates Maverick.  If you search "improperly eject" you will find many ciscussions and many different machines and configurations involved.  I've got an iMac and a LaCie 2big Thunderbolt running Time Machine.  I've "temporarily" solved the issue by turning off "sleep."  That is, I have unchecked everything in the "energy saver" section of preferences.  Before I did that I got the "improperly ejected" message.  I turned off the LaCie and turned it back on and it showed up, without apparent damage of any kind -- except that until I did that there would be no backups to TM, so if I didn't notice the "imp" message, I might go for hours or days without.
This is either an inherent problem with Apple soft or firmware, or Apple has not communicated the right information to manufacturers such as LaCie which are building HDs wiuth Thunderbolt, apparently primarily for the new Mac product line.
LaCie support recently advised me that "Apple has recently acknowledged problems within current versions of Mac OS X that can cause external drives to become improperly ejected during system sleep. Patches from Apple to correct these issues are forthcoming."  We shall see ............

Does after IMP import the tables are analyzed automatically?
When i done import process of TEST user
    imp system/manager file=/home/oracle/test.dmp FROMUSER=TEST TOUSER=TEST
and when i execute following query
    SELECT table_name,last_analyzed FROM DBA_TABLES WHERE owner=TEST'
I find that table/indexes are analyzed automatically.

  • Disk drive ejects automatically

My CD drives is getting ejected automatically since I have refreshed it. Initially it ejects on booting, but problem has been sorted out somehow, but now, it ejects while working.
    I'm using G6-2202 TX with Win8.

How common is it for the lens to get dusty and not read a particular DVD? I have two new DVD movies that are not even recognized on my PowerBook, and get spit out after a minute of cycling. Every other DVD works fine. I even returned one of the non-recognized DVDs and exchanged it for another of the same title, and guess what, it does not play either.
I tried these two problem DVDs in my G4 desktop last night, and they both worked just fine in that older drive. Unfortunately, and unrelated, my four year old Quicksilver desktop died overnight after the successful movie screenings.
Are some newish Region 1 NTSC DVDs different somehow (what is DVD9?)? Or is it most likely a dirty lens needing service, as you suggest?

  • Problem during import of 121 transport requests to productive system

    Hello
We have problem during import of transport requests to productive system. Import of 121 transport requests stopped very soon in phase "N" (in TRBAT I have only one entry and in  TRJOB  as well).
In sm50 there is an BGD running under user DDIC in client 000 now for 14453 seconds (program SAPLSDB2). This should be import.
In SM37 I can see it as  job "RDDGEN0L" with  repport"RDDGENBB". Based on some literature it should perform "Converting all structure changes generated by the import and recorded in table TBATG, other than the structure changes to matchcode objects." Very interesting  that TBATG has only four entries related to 2 indexes in table "DFKKOPK" , one in table "DFKKREP06" and one" ENQU" for EFKKEXC". (only this last one has not status error)
For fist two indexes I know they are not present  as objects "LIMU""INDX" in any transport request beeing imported.
Also on productive system there is no"VOL" and "ZOL"indexes for table "DFKKOPK"(instead they are created on test system ie. not transported from development to test system)
Last command for that process is "CREATE INDEX "DFKKOPK~HKO" ON "DFKKOPK" ("MANDT", "HKONT", "OPBEL") PCTFREE 10 INITRANS 002 TABLESPACE PSA
    PTR3 STORAGE (INITIAL 0000000016 K NEXT 0000000016 K MINEXTENTS 0000000001 MAXEXTENTS UNLIMITED PCTINCREAS"
There is enaught space on disk and in tablespaces (it is an oracle/HPux server).
Does anyone knows workaroun to solve production

are you importing these transport requests simultaneously into production?
I would suggest you try doing in smaller groups of 5 or 10 and then see whether you are able to import the requests

Do a backup,  preferable 2 separate ones on 2 drives. Boot to the Recovery Volume (command - R on a restart or hold down the option/alt key during a restart and select Recovery Volume). Run Disk Utility Verify/Repair and Repair Permissions until you get no errors.  Reformat the drive using Disk Utility/Erase Mac OS Extended (Journaled), then click the Option button and select GUID. Then re-install the OS.

  • "An Error Occurred During Import"

I am importing video from a Canon Vixia HF10 HD CMOS camcorder into iMovie 08. After the thumbnails are created, I select the clips I want and click on Import. I tried in a a Large (960x540) and Full (1920x1080) format and receive the same error message - "An Error Occurred During Import." I am then instructed to check the footage carefully and try again.
What could be causing this error?

I had exactly the same problem in loading files from by HF10 onto my iMac but I didn't have the same problem on my Macbook. So I tried to copy the clips from my Macbook onto the iMac but imovie on the iMac wouldn't recognise them ...
This suggested to me that the problem was with the Imac's version of imovie being unable to read the file types from the HF10.
I had, in parallel, been trying to fix an error shown when iMovie on the imac starts up :
"The QuickTime components necessary to view, edit, import, and export several kinds of movies are not installed. These components are included with the iMovie installer; please re-install"
The discussion and solution to this problem can be found under the "Missing QuickTime Components" discussion on this site however to save you time I have copied below fgalvani70's solution (Bravo !) which works perfectly ... both the missing component issue and the import issue are now perfectly resolved !!
1 - install software Pacifist (http://www.charlessoft.com/) (it's shareware but you can use without problems)
2 - Insert Original Apple installation disk
iMovie '08 missed a Quicktime Component called: “AppleIntermediateCodec.component”. This component is necessary for importing movies in iMovie 08.
So, just let Pacifist read the Install DVD and extract only the ‘AppleIntermediateCodec.component’ to the default directory.
    It's under Contents of BundledSoftware.mpkg -> Contents of AppleIntermediateCodec.pkg -> Library -> QuickTime
    Select AppleIntermediateCodec.component and click Install

  • Why is aperture 3.4 crashing during import after upgrade?

After running a typical upgrade from Software update on my mac I have had the problem of importing files into Aperture.
Exactly what happened and equipment used.  Used SD 45mbs 16gb SD card to import RAW images after a shoot.  This has been working and tested the day before update.  Was prompted to update to Aperture 3.4 along with another update for OSX.  After reboot I launched Aperture and was prompted to update library.  Next SD card was inserted, pictures showed up as previews, all were selected and checked to import all.  Application crashes see below.
    What I have tired.
    removed application
    removed preference files
    reinstalled application
was prompted for upgrade of library
once done inserted SD to import files
Same issue files show up but they do not import and same report comes up
have attempted multiple SD cards with no resolve.
Able to use disk on another computer with no issue.
    Someone please help

What Aperture version are you running exactly? Aperture 3.4 or 3.4.1? The 3.4.1 update has some important bug fixes. If you did not install  the last update, I'd recommend to update.
Some posters had problems with the image capture preferences, after upgrading to 3.4, and that caused troubles during import. Try if removing the image capture preference files helps:
To remove the image capture preferences:
If Aperture is running, quit Aperture,  and log off and on again.
Open your user library from the Finder's Go menu: Hit Command Shift G (⌘⇧G) and then type in: ~/Library/Preferences/  then hit return.
In the window that opens remove "com.apple.ImageCapture.plist"
and look into the subfolder "ByHost": if there are files named com.apple.ImageCapture  something.plist  remove them too.
    then try again.

  • Disk ejecting when trying to format

I inherited an older iMac that dates back to 2004 which will not boot up correctly. When I tried to format it with OS X 10.4 (PPC), the disk ejects while holding 'C'. If I press/hold alt/opt during boot-up, it only shows me the Macintosh HD and not the optical drive. Could it be that the optical drive is bad? ...or might this be happening if it's an Intel that I mistook for a PPC?

Here's an update -- I put in an older O/S install disk for Leopard 10.3 (PPC) and the optical drive recognized it; however, the setup screen was hardly viewable. Is this possibly an Intel imac?

  • Aperture 3.3.2 Not Ejecting Card After Import?

Has anyone else noticed that Aperture is not automaically ejecting the SD card after an Import even thogh that option is checked on the Import window? I've loaded two cards since the upgrade and so far neither time has it ejected the card as expected.

    Jim,
Glad you're happy it no longer ejects the card after import. However, that's not the way it's supposed to work if you have the eject card option checked.
    thank you, I think
The way it is supposed to work is not described in the manual, for it is depending on the make of your camera. The manual only states:
Note: The options offered in this dialog depend on the way your camera is made available when it is connected. Some cameras connect as mass storage devices. When you import from these cameras, the Erase and Eject options appear. Other cameras simply connect as cameras, and you will not see either Erase or Eject after the import is completed. In that case, you can erase the images directly in the camera.
I see for all cameras different controls. For my Lumix camera I see the "Eject" button, but no option to choose, if I want automatic eject. The Canon camera does not show any options at all. The automatic "Eject" option I have never seen for any camera I had - only an automatic "Erase", that I never used, for it is dangerous. So up to now I had to live with auto eject, because there never has been an option to select differently.
Apple certainly could improve the documentation of this feature in the otherwise very good manual.

  • Aperture 3.6 - wrong image selected during import

    Aperture 3.6
    OS X Yosemite 10.10.1
    MacBook Air
I run a program at a guest ranch where we import photos from our guests into Aperture. We see multiple devices and have this issue randomly on many of them.
Lets choose an iPhone for the example. Connect the iPhone, go to import, select the device, choose 'Uncheck All'.
Now when scrolling through the images, the guest will select a photo, and at times the image next to it will be checked as well without being selected by the guest. Sometimes it it the first or second image that is automatically selected during import.
    Any ideas?
    Best,
    Lee

Problems with the UI can sometimes be resolved by removing the Preference file.
See Get help with Aperture 3 - Apple Support , scroll down until you see
    Reset the user preferences
and follow the directions. Note in step 5 Restart your computer if you're using OS X Mavericks that will apply if you are running Yosemite also.

  • Separation of RAW and jpeg formats during import?

    Hi everyone,
I'm new to Mac and more specifically iPhoto 11.......having fun though!!
Does anybody know whether iPhoto has the functionality to separate or create sub folders for both RAW and jpeg picture formats during importing?
This would save a fair bit of time manually moving photos between folders!!
I believe Aperture has the ability but I'm not ready to upgrade just yet.
    Any help greatly appreciated.
    Cheers
    Craig

    No it doesn't.
    Some possibilities:
    1. Use Smart Albums to separate them
    2. Remember that when you import a Raw to iPhoto it automatically creates a Jpeg preview. So, now you have two jpegs of the same Raw. Do you need to shoot both Raw and Jpeg?

  • There is not enough disk space left to import

I am in the middle of editing a movie. I have imported two clips and am trying to import a third.
I have precisely 62.42Gigabytes of hard disk space (I have a 120 Gig HD). The clip I want to import is 1.69 Gigabytes.
    I get the following message:
    Error during Import
The file could not be imported: There is not enough disk space left to import...
I tried moving the project to another account on the same computer but that did not work either.
I have searched through these forums and many others seem to have the same problem but I have yet to find ANY workable solution!
    HELP please!

The clip I want to import is 1.69 Gigabytes.
By any chance, is the "clip" a compressed QuickTime movie? If so, when iMovie converts it to DV a 1.69GB movie may expand quite a lot. Please describe the clip.
And describe the disk the project resides on. Is it an internal disk or external disk?
Here's some things to check out...

  • Error during import (-40)

I have a G5 Dual 2G with 2G of ram running Imovie 3.0.3. I am trying to import a 42.9M mp4 file and a 189.9M .mov file and am getting this error message after about 6 minutes of trying to import: "Error during import (-40)".
Can anyone tell me what the problem might be? I have serched the forum and came up with the "Use Streamclip 1.8" thats why I could make the 189.9M .mov file into the 42.9M mp4 file.
I was sucsesful in importing 38.5M .mov files into itunes but I seem to have a limit. Does this make sense to anyone?
    Thanks for the help.

    Aquilafisher,
You can open the 189.9 mov file in MpegStream clip and export to DV format for iMovie (DV is iMovie's native format).
When you choose export to DV format you'll be presented with the "DV Exporter Window" with several options. One option is to "Split DV into Segements" Choose it (This option automatically splits the clip into 2gb or less segments).
You can export the segments directly into your iMovie project's media folder. Next time you open the iMovie project you'll be offered the option to have those segments moved to the clips pane (you can also import the segments but that takes longer).
I was sucsesful in importing 38.5M .mov files into itunes but I seem to have a limit.
Is this the same file 49mb mp4 file that you could only partially import or is this a different file that you were successful importing?????
Is there any particular reason you exported to mp4 first, exactly what are you trying to accomplish?
