Disk Error while Installing Windows

Okay so this is the story: I get my brand new MacBook Pro and install Leopard on it, with the disk that came with my Macbook Pro. After a while I decide to install Windows, so I get my Windows with SP2 disk, load up bootcamp, choose for it to partition 32 GB for Windows, put the disk in and start the installation. I choose to have Windows installed in the partition that Boot Camp created. But after the installation is done and the computer reboots, I get a black screen with the following:
Press any Key to boot from CD ...
Disk Error
Press Any Key to Continue
Now there's a period of time when it allows me to 'Press Any Key to Boot from CD', but when I do that it just tries to install Windows again and the same thing happens. If I just wait, it gives me the Disk Error, and when I 'Press Any Key to Continue' nothing happens. So I reboot my Macbook Pro and it takes me straight back to that screen. Help! I can't even figure out how to remove the Windows install CD, and I can't use the Macbook Pro at all! I hope it's not busted...

Press X at startup to force a boot to Leopard. Press Eject, F12, or hold the trackpad button during startup to eject the Windows CD.
Start over with BootCamp and see:

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
Please ensure you are following the Boot Camp installation guide, as you should be selecting the partition named "BOOTCAMP" when you are at the Windows installer screen.  See page 6 of the following PDF:

  • BOOTCAMP error while installing Windows 7

I am attempting to use BOOT CAMP to install Windows 7 and I keep getting this error message.
The USB drive connected to this Mac contains a bootable volume. In order to install Windows 7 from the DVD, the Boot Camp Assistant needs to disable this functionality. No information on the drive will be removed. Do you want to continue?   When I hit continue I get this "Your disk could not be partitioned" An error occurred while partitioning the disk.    HELP please.  I have a brand new MAC PRO bought in DEC.  and I am using a brand new USB port.

Please erase your USB Flash drive, and use Bootcamp Assistant to build a USB with the Windows ISO and BC drivers. Use a USB2 flash drive, not a USB3 one. It will not work with Windows.

  • Hard disk error while installing Yosemite

    Hi all,
While installing Yosemite, my Macbook 17 in, I got an error after the reboot of the computer.  The screen shows "Installing on "Macintosh HD", and the remaining time ..... and then, I get the message saying, "OS X cannot be installed on your computer.  File system verify or repair failed.  Quit the installer or restart your computer and try again."
I have been restarting a couple of times, and I get the same message every time.  I cannot go back to my previous installation of Mavericks.  While holding the option button and rebooting, I am presented with only two options .. OS X Installer and the recovery disk.   Where did the Mavericks install on the Macintosh HDD disappear?
Choosing the first option (OS X Installer) does not boot into the OS, takes me back to the same routine thatI described above and gives me the error that I talked about.  Choosing the latter gives me the Disk utility.  I verified the disk's permissions, and the utility found some errors that it was able to fix.  I proceeded to verify the disk, which informed me that the hard disk needs to be repaired.  When I clicked on repair disk, the repairing went on for some time and it gave me an error message saying, "Disk Utility can't repair this disk.  Back up as many of your files as possible, reformat the disk and restore your backed up files."
What are my options now?  How do I retrieve the data that I have on the HDD?
My hard disk was not giving me any problems all these days while I had Mavericks OS installation on the laptop.  It is not clunking now....  It seems to be fine.  Do you think, there is some problem with the hardware inside the HDD?  Or is some data on the HDD corrupt which caused it to not to be repaired?
    Appreciate your help.
    Regards,
    Kamran.

  • Error while installing Windows XP

I just got my iMac Intel Core 2 Duo. I've updated all the software and firmware, restarted, downloaded BootCamp 1.1.2, burned the Mac drivers CD, and partitioned my hard drive. When I put in my Windows XP Home Edition CD, it seems to install Windows but then suddenly shuts down with an error after attempting to load.
I've tried restoring the hard drive and re-partitioning with no success. I'm stuck.
Has anyone encountered this problem? If so, I'd appreciate any help or suggestions. Thank you.

You need Windows XP with Service Pak 2. The version you are installing is probably not the correct version required for Boot Camp. Please read the Boot Camp documentation regarding the required version of XP.

  • Error while installing Windows 7

When I'm trying to install Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit through Boot Camp I always get this message after like 86% of expanding files.
Windows cannont install required files. File may be corrupt or missing. Make sure all files required for installation are available and restart installation. Error code: 0x80070017
I read from a few posts on Google that it has something to do with the bios.

    Hi,
Identify your drive and find out who the manufacturer is and then go to their website, go to the driver section and enter your exact model. Download the drivers and put them on a USB device. when asked to load the drivers, click Browse and browse the USB
device. You should locate the .inf file that is used for this hard drive and load it. Windows might now be able to properly detect the drive and you can continue with your Windows installation.
    Thanks!

  • Bootcamp, Non-system disk error while installing Win 7. iMac Late 2012

    Hello,
I am having an issue while trying install OEM Win 7 Home Prem. 64bit on my new iMac 27 inch late 2012 with bootcamp. I am using all brand new products with an Apple SuperDrive. After downloading the Windows Support files onto a USB and paritioning the hard drive, the system reboots to begin the Windows 7 install; however, a black screen appears and it simply says, 'Non-system disk. Press any key to reboot'. I am not sure what to do here and any help would be much appreciated! Thanks
Also - i read this thread, but it doesnt look like an answer has been posted:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4682842?start=0&tstart=0

Sounds like the Boot camp system that looks for the Windows install system can't see the Apple superdrive. Which doesn't surprise me all that much as Apple has limited the external superdrive to working with only some Mac computers. Yes yours is included when you are booted into OSX but we are talking boot camp and Windows here.
You may need to place the Win install files on a USB thumb drive by making an ISO of the install files and or downloading an ISO file from the "My Digital Life" website for the version of Win 7 you have and then using a program like ISO to USB to place the Win install files on a USB thumb drive. Bad part of all of that is you may need a Windows PC to do that. I am not sure if it can be done on a Mac using Disk Utility and or even if Disk Utility can expand the ISO file whether it can make it bootable.

  • When I format hard disk while installing windows it shows an error?

When I format hard disk while installing windows it shows an error and says that windows can't be installed to this hard disk, but I have installed windows before. How can I install windows?

You are getting this message because you are trying to create an iCloud account on a PC by signing with your Apple ID.  You can only sign into an existing account on a PC.  You first have to create iCloud account on an iOS device (iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch) running iOS 5 or higher, or on a Mac running OS X Lion (10.7.5) or higher.  After creating your account on one of these devices you will then be able to sign into the account using this ID on your PC.
