Disk gets corrupted everytime I connect to my MBA

I connected my previous hard-disk to my laptop, and it got corrupted. I purchased a new hard-disk, copied everything from that Hard-disk to new one. After few days, my new hard-disk also got corrupted.
Few days later, I connected my friend's hard disk. Now his hard-disk is corrupted too. My guess is it is because of my Macbook Air.
Any ideas how to fix it?

2 out of 3 voting disk gets corrupted

O/S - Oracle Linux
DB Version - Oracle 11.2.0,3
Three node RAC
Voting disks is 3 in Normal redundancy out of which 2 disks gets corrupted.
I know the process of recovering the voting disk but I am not able to stop the cluster services and start the same in exclusive mode. I am always getting "Unable to communicate with CRS services" . I rebotted 3 nodes but the same issue persists.
Any advice will be appreciated.

Is ASM used for OCR and voting disk storage?
This is the recommendation and the default - creating a normal redundancy diskgroup with an additional quorum disk (i.e. 3 disks in total).
There is an automated backup of the OCR. No backup needed for voting files. So it is not a disaster loosing the cluster's OCR and/or voting disks.
Assuming ASM and a diskgroup is used.
Anything else on the diskgroup?
I recently had a similar problem. I used the diskgroup only for OCR and voting disks. Lost 2 disks. I shutdown the RAC. Started CRS in exclusive mode on 1 node. Launched sqlplus and dropped the diskgroup and recreated it with 3 disks (and a quorum). Restored the OCR backup. Confirmed the voting disks config (no need to change it as the underlying diskgroup did not have a name change). Restarted that node. Forced a rebalance of the diskgroup. Then started the remaining cluster nodes.
There are Oracle Support Notes that describe these steps in detail. It should be relatively easy finding the note for fixing a 11gr2 RAC's OCR/voting ASM diskgroup.
If you have database data on it too - problems. If the remaining working disk is the quorum disk, then both mirror disks are toast. If not, you can try to force the disks online again - assuming disks are okay and broken path was fixed. Else add 2 new disks to replace the 2 broken disks and rebalance. Never done this myself though with a quorum disk..

IPod gets corrupted everytime it's plugged in.

I've got an iPod classic and a giant music collection. Initially, I just copied everything in my library on to it. The problem is whenever I plug it back into my computer to add new music, iTunes recognizes it as corrupted. So I restore the iPod and recopy all of my Music onto it. Next time I connect, it's corrupted. This keeps repeating. It's like plugging the thing into my computer corrupts it. Otherwise it works just fine. I feel like something in my collection is busted. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

ITunes Library.itl gets corrupted every time I restart my CISCO VPN enabled laptop.

iTunes Library.itl file gets corrupted everytime I restart my laptop.
I am using Lenovo T410 with Windows 7.
This is causing alot of problems as all my iPhone songs and apps get deleted after every sync.
Please help.

I have the same problem.
I have removed and re-installed iTunes. The music files are still intact but the library gets erased every time I restart the PC.
This means I have re-scan all my music files over and over again.
Also, an inspection of the iTunes directory reveals lots and lots of temp (iT*.tmp) files, all of them are about the same size as the iTunes library database (10mb in my case) so it looks like iTunes is not closing down correctly / writing the temp file back to the iTunes library (iTunes Library.itl)file.
Can anybody help?

Everytime I connect...says Ipod is corrupt

Everytime I connect my 2nd gen Ipod shuffle it says it is corrupted and needs to be restored. I restore.....add songs to playlist.....works fine.....but once I unplug and plug it back in I get the same corrupt thing all over again and have to restore and do the same thing all over again????
Is anybody else having this problem? I have installed Itunes and uninstalled....am using the latest 7.4 version. I am stuck and completely frustrated and afraid to plug it in the dock.

i would suggest deleting and readding the mail account in settings > mail contacts calendars

Dock gets corrupted on Iintel machines/10.4 after restoring from disk image

Hi all,
I run a script at home that creates an image of my boot disk every night (it reboots into another volume, runs SuperDuper! and boots back into boot volume. I also use master disk images to deploy Macs at work. Every time an image is restored the dock becomes a mess, it looks something like this:

This only happens on Intel Macs and started to happen recently after one the system updates. It wasn't happening under 10.4.6 I think but it started some time after.
What's even weirder is that restoring com.apple.dock.plist from backup (Retrospect) doesn't seem to help, the prefs get corrupted anyway. Is there any other prefs file responsible for maintaining links betwen items in the Dock and originals? By the way desktop shortcuts do not get messed up, only the dock.
Any ideas? This is very annoying. Thanks.

This behavior is happening to quite a few of our computers. What they all have in common is that they are Intel Macs that have been upgraded to 10.4.10. I have verified on our test boxes that the problem does not occur with 10.4.9, then appears in 10.4.10. Don't know why.

We get the internet via cable company and their modem is upstairs and the Time Capsule is downstairs in the basement. The latest error message was about it could not backup as it was already in use (should have written it down before clicking OK and moving on.

What I did:
1.- Went to preferences in itunes/ Devices --> erased the corrupted backup (there were two backups)
2.- Upgraded to iOS 5.0.1
Done!
PS: Maybe upgrading solves the problem without erasing the corrupted backup

Several options. Keeping an up-to-date back-up to an external drive is vital, either via Time Machine or a bootable clone (preferably both). With these you can simply restore if ever you need to have new hard drive is installed.
You're running Lion. It is has a Recovery HD which, assuming your HD hasn't died, will allow you to run repairs on your HD or re-install the OS, so long as you have an internet connection. Restarting holding down Command+R takes you to the Recovery HD, or you can restart holding down the Option key and at the start-up manager select the Recovery HD.
You can also create a Lion installer USB Stick/DVD if you have the Lion installer or you can buy Lion on a USB stick from Apple.
Whatever you do, keep a current back-up. And, in case I didn't mention it already, keep a back-up .

Text message sent to me everytime i connect to my ...

May be some one can solve this one for me, everytime i connect to my car bluetooth i get a text message buisiness card from a friend of mine that he may have sent to me at some point.
This happens every time i connect - i can also make it happen by going to messaging/options and selecting sim messages. I get the same text.
I have removed everytext from sim card and inbox and sent item and it still happens
I recently did the upgrade by doing the thing you are not to mention and upgraded to v2. While im not blown away by the update i would like to thank Nokia for a much much better bit of stable software and i look forward to further updates.
Anyway it was backup/ hard reset/ upgraded/ hard reset and then the messages restored- it has happened since this restoring.
The text message appears as a new message from my firend, correct number and everything.
Please help its driving (no pun intended) me nuts

1. Press Command and R keys while your Mac is starting.
2. Open Disk Uitlity, select Macintosh HD in the sidebar and repair the disk. If it can't be repaired, take your Mac to an Apple Store
