Disk is full on macbook air, 32GB of "other", how do I clear this?
operating slowly, message that the startup disk is full
when I check memory, the "other"/yellow category is full
I have no idea what my "other" may be or how to clear it

The sound on my macbook air has stopped working, how do I fix this? :(
It was working fine, suddenly there was a sudden static noise and it just stopped working completely.
i have tried restarting the macbook but nothing seems to work..try resetting your PRAM. also what do you see on the screen when you change the volume? does it like like it normally does when changing the volume?

HT1229 i need to back- up my photos from my MacBook air to my iPad- how do i do this?
HT1229 did not help me-
does any one know how to back up the photos on my computer to my iPad?you can not really - you can sync lower quality versions to your iPad - you need an external hard drive and run Time Machine
You can move copies to the iPad using PhotoStream - but that is not really a backup

The sound on my macbook air isn't working how can i fix this
i was on line and i went to watch a video and the sound wasnt working and it still wont work everything is on but its not working out
Welcome to Apple Discussions
Some times simply quitting any and all sound Apps (iTunes, QuickTime, any audio player) restarting often solves the problem. An SMC reset might also work.
If the laptop went to sleep with headphones or external speakers plugged into the headphone jack loss of audio on wake can result. In future do not sleep with headphones or speakers attached. -

What about the incredable lag time from clicking on a program to the time it opens (or the time till the loading screen starts)? I wish I could record it and play it so I could see if thats normal from other members... the icon just sitting there for over 35 second (I just counted 36 till the loading screen popped up) at first I thought it was me not clicking hard enought cuz the mouse button I have is real stiff (any ideas on that?) but no it takes that long just to get to the app loading screen... this happens every time same amount of time with the 3 programs I use the most, prolly more but I know for a fact world of warcraft, uTorrent, and Google Chrome. I would just chalk it up to slow hardware but they load real quick in windows 7 and once this bad spot is loaded the program runs so fast and nice afterword. Maybe some tweeks? I wonder if this would happen in Snow?
The coment "few outdated programs" Ive seen alot its not just a few its a lot and since games are not Apple's strong point I would think they would want to keep as many as they could...
An example of the rants you will see from a lot here. Don't be put off as these problems are generally user specific, and these same old comments come out after the release of every OSX I can remember. When Lion is upgraded to the next OSX you can gaurentee these forums will be full of people screaming about how great Lion was. Happened with Tiger, Leopard and Snow Leopard.
So come to think of it you may be better off Googling sites that give you unbiased views on Lion, rather than expect any positive comments here. For every one complaint there are probably 100,000 people with no issues.

I have lock my MacBook air for everyone. How can I unlock it?
I have lock my MacBook air for everyone. How can I unlock it?
If you do it only for your user, you can try resetting permissions > http://osxdaily.com/2011/11/15/repair-user-permissions-in-mac-os-x-lion/
If this doesn't work, open Disk Utility from Recovery (if you have OS X Lion or Mountain Lion, pressing Command and R keys while your Mac is starting) or the Mac OS X DVD (if you have Snow Leopard or older, pressing C key while your Mac is starting), select Macintosh HD in the sidebar and repair permissions.
If this doesn't work, reinstall Mac OS X -
i downloaded mountain lion for my macbook pro and i want to install it on my sisters' macbook air, my question is, how many times can i share my purchase?
Association of Associated Devices is subject to the following terms:
"You may auto-download Eligible Content or download previously-purchased Eligible Content from an Account on up to 10 Associated Devices, provided no more than 5 are iTunes-authorized computers."
That information is available here > iTUNES STORE - MAC APP STORE - TERMS AND CONDITIONS
If you re download Mountain Lion using your Apple ID on her Mac, your sister will need to use your Apple ID and password to install and update apps. -
i have two drives, 80GB and a 2nd Windows drive 40GB. I'd like to get rid of the 40GB and go back to original 120GB, MacBook Air 2011, OS X 10.7.5 is this doable?
If you used Boot Camp to install Windows you may use Boot Camp to remove it and return your drive to as it was.

Will the Garmin GLO connect with a MacBook Air? If so, how does it display?
Will the Garmin GLO connect with a MacBook Air. If so, how does it display maps?
This issue was recently solved, you can see it in http://russia4d.ru/podklyuchenie-garmin-glo-k-mac-os-x.html (sorry, but only in Russian). Garmin GLO can be easily connected to MacBook.

I would like to upgrade my itunes but have a macbook 10.8.5. How can I do this?
Do you have 10.8.5 or 10.5.8? It's listed as the latter on your equipment setting, but you stated that you have 10.8.5? If you have 10.8.5 you have the most recent version and you should be able to update iTunes by checking for updates. However, if you have 10.5.8 you need to first update to 10.6 so that you can download the new version of iTunes. To upgrade to 10.6 (Snow Leopard) you need to get a hold of Apple so that they can send you the install DVD which will allow you to update your computer, after that, you can then download updates and get access to the App Store right from your desktop where you can then download Lion or Mountain Lion should you choose to move on further.

ArchLinux Installation disk doesn't recognize Macbook Air SSD[SOLVED]
I want to install ArchLinux on my new MacBook Air (dual boot), I made a dd of the installation iso to a usb disk. The usb disk can boot and run, but it cannot recognize the hard drive(SSD) of Macbook air.
There are three disk files in dev: /dev/sda /dev/sda1 and /dev/sdb
/dev/sda is the usb disk, /dev/sdb cannot be opened by parted and cannnot be mounted (it reports "no medium found") and I believe it is the sd card reader.
What can I do?

How do I free up disk space on my MacBook Air
Hi,
I have a MacBook Air with a 128GB disk. I recently noticed that I seemed to be using up 74% of the disk capacity so thought I would try and remove some old video files from iTunes. When deleting the files I was prompted to remove the files from the file system which I did. I then empted the trash. But that seems to have very little impact on the disk space used. Considering I must have deleted about 20-30GB of files I would have expected the disk usage to come down a fair bit (I have a 128GB SSD).
Any idea how I can get my disk usage back down?
Thanks

Why can't a choose to create a Windows 7 install disk on my 2010 macbook air?
It is a 2010 macbook air, with lion 10.7.2 and bootcamp 4.0.1. the option to create a windows 7 install disk is greyed out, i have a trial version from microsoft website, but i also have a downloaded windows 7 both of them are .iso, i also have a 4gb usb in. could someone explain to me how to fix this?
You might follow this procedure...
http://howto.cnet.com/8301-11310_39-20020513-285/install-win-7-on-macbook-air-fr om-a-usb-drive/
Note that to start the procedure, you will need a Windows computer to create the USB install stick.
I have an iMac with Windows 7 running via BootCamp, but I really don't like the BootCamp setup mainly because it's necessary to reboot the computer every time you switch from one OS to the other.
A few days ago I got a new MBA 128GB model which I decided to put Windows on via Parallels. I have an old stand-alone DVD drive I plugged into the MacAir which immediately recognized the DVD drive. I then installed Parallels on the MacAir. When that was finished, it prompted me for a Windows installation disk, which I then put in the DVD drive.
Away it went with very little requests for inputs from me. In a short time, I had Windows 7 up and running. So far it looks like a great setup. With a few other programs, the MacAir reports that it still has 88GB free out of the 128 GB SSD.
