Disk limit dropping audio...

Hi,
I have a old project that worked 100% fine in old Soundtrack version.
Now i try to play the project in Soundtrack Pro and i get this message !!!
"Soundtrack Pro is dropping audio because your computer's hard disk cannot deliver all of the ausio in time. Try removing some long files or quitting other applications."
I have very basic sound effets over a normal video.
thanks

I've had the exact same problem. I never had problems with Soundtrack 1.5 that came with FCE. I could easily get 8 tracks going on my old iMac G5 w/ 1GB RAM. But when I upgraded to Final Cut Studio 2 and an iMac C2D 2.33GHz w/ 2GB RAM, I couldn't get more than 2 audio tracks to play without that alert. Sometimes, it wouldn't even play one track.
I was scoring a film, so I had exported video from FCP. I reduced the quality of the export to a small 320x240 MPEG4 file, but that made no difference. On my old iMac, I could use a full-res HDV video with no problem.
On a hunch, I disconnected my 2nd monitor, which I recently added. After that, I've haven't had a single problem. I've got 5 tracks going on my current project. Haven't seen the alert again.
Makes no sense, but I did notice a performance drop in my iMac when using that 2nd monitor. I have a NVIDIA 7600GT w/ 256MB VRAM, so I thought it should handle it. Guess not.Oh well, I can live without it. The 24" screen is plenty big!

  • Problem with dropping audio and disk limit

    Hi,
I have problem with working of Soundtrack Pro. When i trying to work and show message:
    DISK LIMIT
Soundtrack Pro is dropping audio because your computer's hard disk can't deliver all the audio in time. Try removing some long files or quitting other applications.
The problem is that i have 200 GB free space and in one time use only soundtrack for working.
    Please help!!!!

Thank you fro your answer, but i try to make a short audio 30 sec. spot. The media for this spot is not very big. The transfer of system disk is 50 mb/s do you think if we put another disk will help?

  • "Disk Limit" warning

I've started getting a warning message come up telling me: "Disk Limit--Soundtrack Pro is dropping audio because your computer's hard disk cannot deliver all the audio in time. Try removing some long files or quitting other applications."
I don't get it. As you can see by my stats below my machine should be able to handle this, no? I've quit most apps. Plus I have a 2T HD that's only 1/4 full so it's not a space thing. What would be causing this? What does it mean by a "long file"? I'm only working with a tutorial at the moment so it's hardly some kind of power-user situation.

Are you running everything from one hard drive?
If so, you will likely see a benefit from adding a FW800 RAID 0 drive to that has been designed for A/V applications to store and playback your media files. Drives in this class include offerings from Caldigit, G-Technology, Granite Digital and others.

  • Disk Limit Alert In Soundtrack Pro...

    My specs:

    2 GB RAM
    160GB HD - 70GB Availible

Good Day All... Maybe you can help me please. I am running into my hard drive not keeping up with streaming my sound clips. I have a moive I opened up in Soundtrack and the movie is 18 mins long. I have three tracks. The audio from the movie. A mertonome click track. A Piano track. A strings track. The audio from the movie and the mertome click track run throughout the entire 18mins.
The piano track and the string tracks shift back and forth through the whole movie.
My problem is... when I play back the movie... the audio hangs and I get the "Disk Limit Alert In Soundtrack Pro..." I am not running any other programs and my computer is choking up on only a few tracks! Is there anyway to help this situation out? One post online mention trying to sperate the audio into different programs??? How do I do that is that is the way to go? Is there a better way?
    HELP PLEASE!
    Thanks,
    Ron

Seeing the same thing. Maybe it has something to do with having a G5 Quad. Besides things as my tempo value slider should be somewhere but is nowhere to be seen.

  • Premiere Pro dropped audio after export, AME no audio

Similar problem in both premiere & AME - clips are exporting with video but no audio.
When queueing up jobs in AME, they'll finish with no Audio & now even exporting directly from the timeline in Premiere Pro CC 2014.2 (just updated 2014-12-14) our clips still have no audio.
All clips have conformed on the timeline before beginning export.
This is happening despite trying these various solutions... re-installing Premiere, starting a new project, choosing a new Scratch Disk with 3 TB of available hard drive space... also our operating system is a 2014 3.5 GHz i7 32GB RAM iMac, running Mavericks with a 256 GB Flash Hard Drive, so RAM or HD speed should not be an issue?
Any advice or a solution would be greatly appreciated.  We export dozens of jobs a day and cannot find a reason why this Adobe Premiere Pro & AME Software is not working correctly & giving us dropped audio upon export - very frustrating, thanks for the help...

I have 2 macs, screenshot with identical export setting was from 2nd mac. if you can repro now here is a 2014.2 screenshot & same export settings on the 2014.2 mac; issue occurs on both computers thanks - also this timeline, before export I had audio on all tracks.  Here is a screenshot of the timeline post export; all of the audio is gone?  It was there at time of export

  • Disk limit message

    ji
i posted over in ST PRO but no one seems to have a suggestion. does anyone have a handle on this disk limit message? i have a brand new G5 quad with 2 internal 250 Gig drives one housing the apps and system and the other exclusive for audio. i run both ST 1.2 and ST Pro and have never experienced this on my old G4 which i just got rid of. the only thing i changed on the OS is i updated to OS 10.4.5. now on even new ST projects if i have 4-5 tracks open with some loops and then add play back a recorded guitar one-shot i continually get the disk limit message that appears. no other apps are open at the time and i am recording to the audio exclusive drive not the system drive. there are hundreds of gigs of space available. i also have 4.5 gigs ram. i have made sure my whole audio in/out system is synced & everything is processing at 44.1/24 bits.
could it be something to do with the 10.4.5 update? or quicktime? can't be the computer speed!
    anybody have an idea?

thanks for the thought. in my case, i only had 2 or 3 tracks open, little or no effects. still don't understand why. interestingly, ST Pro works a charm. been recording audio tracks with it along with 15-20 tracks of samples, loops etc. no issues except for the occasional 'this program has unexpectedly quit...' that was usually caused by asking the program to do too much.

  • Dropping Audio

How can I get the audio to play?
When I open a multitrack project Im working on I am getting this error message:
"Soundtrack Pro is dropping audio because your computer's hard disk cannot deliver all the audio in time. Try removing some long files or quitting other applications"
The audio is also not playing and I have no other programs open and plenty of hard disk space.
How can i get the audio to play?

Audio recording is governed by Preferences->Recording->Recordings Location
If you're importing audio it could be from anywhere.
You could always Save As of the project to your media drive to make sure. In the Save dialog first make a new folder (for organizational clarity), check Collect Media, then Save. You'll end up with your New Folder containing a MEdia files folder and the project folder.

  • STP drop audio

Soundtrack Pro is dopping audio because my computer's hard disk cannot deliver all of the audio in time. I removed some long files and quitted other applications, but the problem persists. What would be the best solution to avoid dropping audio altogether? Thank you. golab.

I have 2 external devices, one allocated to video (500Gig left) and the other to backup ( 120Gig). And of course the internal one with only 70Gig left. So if I have to buy one for Audio only what is the best available because I do want keep track of the audio files.
Any reputable 10,000rpm Firewire drive should do.
I have a speaker (audio technica AT897 line+gradient condenser Microphone) . I don't know if it can be directly connected to my MacBook Pro or I need an audio interface, and if so which one would be the best one. And finally i wonder if can connect XLR-P (from ProSignVieo), which I used with my camcorder overseas, to my computer to get best sound, and if so how. Thank you so much. golab
You'd definitely need something with a mic pre-amp. I really don't know this market at all, but [M-Audio|http://www.m-audio.com/index.php?do=products.family&ID=recording] has a complete selection of interfaces, both Firewire and USB. You might post a thread about interface recommendations in the Logic forums to get some opinions.

  • Todays update! After todays update I can no longer send Safari or Spotify to the task bar without it cutting out (dropping audio in and out). Streams normally if I keep the window open on my desktop. This needs to be fixed immediately.

    Nevermind. I figured it out.

  • 2.0.1 dropped audio with Alpine iDA-X200 car stereo

So after about 20 minutes of playback, the iPhone will 'drop audio' for a brief moment .. enough to be annoying. When the iPhone was running 1.1.4 of the OS, I never had the dropped audio problem. But ever since I 'upgraded' to 2.0(and 2.0.1), the dropped audio will occur with the iDA-X200. Any solutions? I've tried Airplane Mode and same problem

Hmmm interesting, I have the x100 and an original iPhone running at 2.0.1. I've noticed a few times that the music 'dropped out' but once I had the audio go totally bonkers, spitting out digital hash mixed with snippets of the song. Since I was driving at the time all I could do was to jiggle the connector and that seemed to work. It hasn't happened since.
I wish I was of more help, but maybe by bumping this topic up a little someone else will chime in...

    Thanks.

The message says that CS6 is not supported on this type of Mac.

  • When burning iso with disk utility, the audio is off!

I have an ISO file that works fine when I mount it or watch it on VLC.   If I burn it using windows (in parallels) it is fine...
But when I burn it with disk utility, the audio is off by a second or so.  I can't figure this out since it is a disk image.  there shouldn't be a way to dissociate the audio.  I did have a previous version of the iso file that was off..  Is it possible that I am trying to burn an iso file and it is burning a mounted version from before (even though I am choosing this from the finder?)
    Any thoughts or suggestions?
I though macs just work.  Seems a bit more complicated.

I don't recall for sure about "disk utility" and DVD and/or Bluray. It seems to me that Toast is usually used.

  • Disk limit message wierdness..

    Hi,
I know this has been covered alot on many posts, but i have noticed something bizarre. I have been working through a project and all has played fine with no message making an appearance, but when i got back to a particular bit there is one clip that refuses to play, ringing up the disk limit message every time. So i thought that may be give a soundtrack a couple of seconds to catch up with itself, i.e. giving it time to purge the memory and load in whats needs to be played. But no. Nothing, just that **** message. solo the track and the same. the only way i have found to get around this so far is to quit STP and reopen, which i you read one of my earlier posts is, takes about 20 mins, which is unacceptable.
I have read all the press releases of how the STP has been reprogrammed from the ground up. Erm.. why? they obviously don't have a clue. Why not take some notes off more reliable products and then reprogram STP and make it a reliable product - Apple, please take the Pro suffix off and just call it ST3 or Soundtrack Nightmare, then people might have more of an idea of what they are buying.

How much ram do you have dude? There's only one way to get the files to open quicker and that's to add ram, I noticed a triple increase going from 1g to 2.5g.
That will help you with your disk limit issues too, but it depends on how fast your processor is as well. I can do up to a gig files on my laptop but it takes a long time!

  • Audio cd burn from 11.1 not playing on old version of iTunes on another MAC. error message was cd created on newer version of iTunes.  If the disk was a audio cd it should not matter the iTunes version.

The error message was cd created on newer version of iTunes.  If the disk was a audio cd it should not matter the iTunes version. I converted all songs on playlist to MP3 and then selected burn playlist and checked audio cd. This worked in itunes 11.0.5. Also itunes 11.1 will not accept the second disk on a cd audio burn. It just keeps telling me to insert a blank disk, no matter how many blank disks are inserted

I think that the operating system is 10.4.11 and iTunes isn't responding to this operating system. I cannot upgrade the operating system to a version any later than what it is as I think it would then go to Tiger.
10.4 is Tiger, and 10.4.11 supports the latest version of iTunes and QuickTime. So either the system isn't at 10.4.11 - your original post said 10.4.1 - or there's something wrong with the system in which case earlier versions of iTunes/QuickTime might well also fail to install.
Please confirm the version of Mac OS X that really is on the system and we'll go from there.

  • Airplay dropping audio to apple TV and other airplay devices.

I have an Apple TV that will drop audio when streaming from the ipad2, laptop, iphone 4s, and iphone 5. I also have an airplay Yamah receiver that will do the same thing. I have replaced the wifi router that did not make a difference..Do you have a way to resolve this.

Thanks for replying and trying to help Lanny.
When I try to select Apple TV it would simply bounce back to the internal speakers (or the last device I had selected).
Since posting I found a solution on another thread.  The post from DC Soup on this thread on flushing the DNS cache.  Everything works fine after that.  I don't know why flushing the DNS cache would fix the issue.
It's great because I can now get audio from any app to stream to my Apple TV.
