Disk lost in move
Hello:
I have kind of a silly question. We bought a copy of Excelsius 2008 last year and installed it on my laptop. I am getting ready to swap out for a new laptop and the disk(s) have gone missing (probably during the last move). Is there a way to retrieve the relevant license information and acquire a new copy of the software? What information would I need (invoice, etc)?
Thanks for fielding my rather absurd question.
You should be able to find your key in your registry. Otherwise you can contact SAP Licensing.

I have a PowerBook G4 17" and need Apple discs to set it up again. Mine lost during move. Screen seems damaged, has vertical lines. Can anyone help. I can call as I have unlimited calling on my iPhone 6 anywhere in North America.
king,
If your Powerbook's serial number (do not post it here) starts with "W8" then the vertical lines are mostly likely due to a defect in the display itself. W8 is a factory code and, during the iMac G5 and PowerBook G4 timespan, that factory shipped thousands of units with the same defect. It cannot be fixed via software.
As all PowerBooks are now classed as "obsolete," an Apple Store will not work on it. They will look at it ands tell you it has vertical lines and that they cannot fix it. This Apple article shows Apple devices they curently considered obsolete:
Vintage and obsolete products - Apple Support
It is possible that some Apple Authorized Service Providers (AASP) will still work on older computes but they cannot get neededparts from Apple. As this issue was so pervassive, it wil be hard for you or an AASP to find a used/pulled display that is not effected with the "W8 Curse."
Although I love the old PowerBooks, I would not even spent the money for disks, much less the US$150-400 it would cost to replace the display, even should one be available.
If you give us a rough idea of where you are in the world, we can suggest repair shops specializing in fixing older Mac notebooks, but be aware those resources may be rather scare outside North America. -

I have an hd movie on final cut pro x; i want to create an sd disk of that movie. compressor created 2 files: dolby.... and mpeg2. How do I get these files burned to disc to create my sd movie?
These are elementary streams and they would be used by DVD authoring apps that use them for reasons like foreign language capability. Examples would be DVD Studio Pro, Adobe Encore, Toast.
The most straightforward way to burn your DVD is either to use the Share feature in FCP or the Batch Template feature in Compressor.
If you can find a boxed copy of iLife (try Amazon), it should have iDVD as part of the suite of apps. iDVD offers far more complete authoring capability than FCP or C4. iDVD doesn't work with elementary streams; you'd just drag in your HD movie and you'd be good to go.
Good lluck.

You can redownload iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
For other media you have to get them from where you originally obtained them -
I lost my movie. The lost chronicles of Narnia, the lion, the witch and the wardrobe? I might of used a different account, but I don't remember it, and now that that happened I only stick to one that I can remember? Can anyone please help me? I'm not good at this stuff. It's too complicated for me? Thank u very much!!!
First of all unless you live in the U.S., you will have to buy the movie again. Only U.S. residenst have the option of downloading movies again for free. Second of all - not all movies can be downloaded again currently since not all studios are in agreement with Apple to allow this.
So .. if you live in the U.S. - go to iTunes and tap on the purchased tab. Then tap the View button in the upper left corner and select Movies. If the movie shows up - then clcik on the icon and then click on the cloud icon in the Movie window to start the download.
You have to use the same ID that you bought it with. That is the only wat that it will work. -

Patch Update - Disks lost labels
Hi Gurus,
I have a problem with solaris 10 update 3 where by disks lost labels after a patch update. Can you please help me figure out what might have gone wrong?
Please be patient with me as i am still newbie to the Solaris OS.
Thanks in advanceThere is no update from 10.2.8. You need to purchase retail version of Tiger, 10.4.x. It would help if you gave as much information about your Mac as possible; i.e., model, ram, hard drive, etc.....What method were you using to install the new OS?

I lost some movies on my iPad.
Hi, I have lost some movies that I have purchased on my Ipad before I had the chance to transfer them to my ITunes library. Will have to purchase them again of should I be able to download them again from the ITunes store.
You cannot redownload movies.
You can try contacting itunes support and asking for an exception. -
I have now lost my movie folder within itune on my computer, is there anyway to replace or put in a folder for movies
Uh, the developer forums is not the place to ask a question about iTunes.
Which kind of computer. A Mac or Windows? No matter, the answer is to use your backup you make of your computer against this kind of loss. -
HI therei seem to have lost my movies of my iTunes when I upgraded to 11 why
If you are in the U.S. You can re-download purchased music without being charged again. I'm not sure if this applies to movies and tv as well.
Bassed on the spelling of "programmes", I'm guessing you are NOT in the US. Unfortunately, you can NOT re-download purchased media outside of the US. This is a licensing restriction imposed by the copyright holders. It is NOT something Apple has a choice about.
Backing up your media is your responsibility. If they were not backed up, they are gone. -
My computer crashed and I lost my iTunes library, On my new computer I downloaded iTunes and some of my songs were there. Although I lost my movies that I had purchases on iTunes, which of course cost quite a lot. How can I go about getting these back?
See Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

I lost my movie that I purchased on iTunes. How can I get it back?
You can try contacting Apple via the Lost or Missing Items section under Video Purchases on this page http://www.apple.com/uk/support/itunes/ - but Apple are under no obligation to let you re-download it, you should have made one or more backups via your computer

Knowing I was about to purchase Apple TV, I purchased three movies from iTunes and downloaded them to my MacBook Pro. One was the monumental Lawrence of Arabia! In due course, they were all transferred to my new Apple TV to show on the big screen. Figuring I could now free up disk space on my MacBook Pro, I trashed the movies. Wrong. They also disappeared from Apple TV. Nowhere as an Apple TV newbie did I see where this might happen. Seems like a major fault. I'm out the cost of the three movies.
I'm afraid AppleTv is not a backup device or a device that allows you to free up space on the computer running the itunes library.
AppleTV merely holds a copy of files in the iTunes library that you have chosen to sync to it.
While this may seem obvious to a seasoned user, I think it's quite silly of Apple not to have put some safeguards in place to prevent this happening without some kind of warning in iTunes.
Something along the lines of a popup saying '3 movie files on AppleTv are no longer in the iTunes library - performing a sync will delete them from AppleTV. Do you want to proceed, or...?'
Herein lies the problem - there's currently no way to copy stuff back from AppleTV if it wasn't purchased on it.
The message above would need additional options:
1 - Proceed and the files get deleted from AppleTV
2 - Restore files to iTunes library and maintain on AppleTV
3 - Restore files to iTunes library but remove from AppleTV
If I were you, I'd go to the iTunes store support pages and send off a support query saying you'd purchased 3 movies and thought AppleTv could be used as the primary storage location, so you removed them from iTunes. Say you had no warning that the files would then be deleted from AppleTV and that you have lost your purchases. Ask them to reinstate the files for download in iTunes - I would hope they'd be sympathetic, if not I suspect you'll not buy from the store again.
Do rememebr though that even if you still had the files in iTunes it is prudent to make a backup copy of purchases either on CD/DVD or by copying files to an external driev or similar. You'll always get some wise guy saying it's your fault for not having a back up, but with the best will in the world no one spends all their time ensuring everything is backed up instantly. I need to archive some stuff but I don't do it every day and there's always a risk.
