"Disk not found" and "No boot device found"

Please share any knowledge that may help in overcoming this problem. Installing Solaris 7 on Dell Precision 620, 933 Mhz, PIII. At the point where all systems seem about ready to go in completing interactive install, it comes back with "Disk not Found". A friend tried to help with his limited knowldeg from having loaded Solaris software before, but was unable to ascertain the problem. set_ environment command was not recognized. If its any help the boot path read: /pci@o,o/pci_ide@1f,1/ide@1/sd@o,o : boot args kernel/unix_-r
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi ,
I have not faced this problem on solaris 7 however I did face a problem similar to this on Solaris 8. I made a small dos partition and made it active and then started the solaris 8 installation which then went through fine.
Hope that helps.

my Ipad will not charge and Ihave booted it and still no chargeing tryed computer and wall plug

The best way to charge an iPad is to use the charger that came with it connected to a known good wall outlet. The following might be the problem.
    No power in the outlet.
Bad charger unit. Try a different charger.
Bad cable. Try a know good cable.
Dirt in the connector on the iPad. Check and clean.
A fault in the charging software. Reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider should one appear until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.
A hardware failure. Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support.

  • I'm receiving error Boot Device Not Found and Hard disk not exist when I boot up my laptop

I'm receicing the error Boot Device Not Found when i power on my HP G60-235DX laptop.  After following HP's recommended troubleshooting steps, I receive error Hard disk not exist.  Hmmmm....that's a little concerning.  My guess is I need a new hard drive?    I have the 17 recovery disks I made when I setup this laptop, however I'm not sure if they will resolve this issue.  Any suggestions?

One of 3 things has happened, listed from most likely to least likely
    1. Hard drive has died, replace it with one of the same size or larger, then use the HP recovery discs to re-install windows.
2, The motherboard has serious problems. (Replace the notebook)
    3. The hard drive cable that connects it to the motherboard has somehow failed, not very likely. (replace the cable)
Replace the hard drive with a new one and use your recovery discs to get Windows back on it.
Here is your service manual, will show you how to replace the hard drive

Go into either F2 (UEFI diagnostics) or F10 (BIOS) as you power up and look for a hard drive diagnostic and run it. Best bet is your hard drive crashed and needs replacement. What kind of Sleekbook? We need that information to tell you how to proceed.

    Hi there  @Eliyana
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that your Webcam is not working and does not appear within device manager. I am happy to assist.
This document is pretty much a catchall of webcam related issues. There is a section specifically for the device not  appearing in device manager. Check it out, unfortunately if it does not resolve with that then it is likely either a loose connection or fault in the device.

  • On start up, no booting device found

Okay so I just bought this thing not even a month ago, I started it up last week and it told me "boot device not found. please install an operating system on your hard disk" I don't even know what kind of stupid laptop it is bc the packaging info tells me NOTHING, should I just take it back and see if I can get a new one or what??? Pleasee help!!

    Hi,
Shut down the notebook.  Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to enter the Start-up Menu.  Select the Bios option ( usually f10 ) and under the Advanced or Diagnostic tab you should find the facility to run tests on both the Hard Drive and Memory.  Post back with the details of any error messages.
Can you post back with the full Model No. and Product No. of the notebook - see Here for a guide on locating this information.
    Regards,

  • 11.3 and FTF1 boot device failed

    Hi,
I upgraded the system from 11.2 to 11.3 and applied the last patch FRU1 11.3.0.37267 FTF Roll Up 1. 400 computers are waiting for deployment bundles on boot device and nothing is working anymore. Boot device installation always working normally. I found a couple thread about this bug on this Forum since March 2014, 11.3 have this problem.
    Problem :
Boot device installation is not working and the agent gives me always "not installed" on each bundle.
    1. system Windows 7, 64 bits and 32 bits
    2. 11.3 without Patch and with Patch fru1
    3. The Schedule time is working to deploy sofware
    4. 11.2.2 and 11.2.3 always working for boot device bundles.
Some People opened SR and it's suppose to be fixed on fru1 but is not working

Oh and Shaun's issue is something a little different.
We have not gotten to the root of his issue yet, but something else is
    going on.
At this point, there is not any confirmed issue with Boot Bundles.
An Official Service Request could get someone digging deeper.
However, my 1st course of order would be to simply a test environment.
Make sure a Device does not inherit any bundles - put it somewhere else.
Create a Simple Bundle that runs on boot that does something very simple
such as create a directory on the Root of C:
Then refresh to make sure the device sees it and then reboot.
I strongly suspect you may have an issue with one more of your bundles
that is in retry and holding everything up. You would not have seen
that in 11.2 due to the lack of ordering and haphazard execution of the
    bundles.

  • F8 and F9 Boot Device Option doesn't work HP Elitebook 8470p

During the start up menu, when I press F8 or F9 it does not work and the system starts up normally. How do I make it so that F8 and F9 works? What do you think seems to be the problem? I've tried pressing the buttons once and also repeatedly and both instances the system starts normally. How do I make it so that I can get into safe mode by pressing F8 or F9 to boot device during start up without booting the hard drive?

Was the bios updated prior to this problem occuring?
Try clearing the cmos as follows.
With reference to Page 109 of your Maintenance & Service Guide remove the RTC battery.  Hold down the power button for 30 seconds.  Reinsert the RTC cell.
Can you access any menus at boot now?

  • LaCie 1TB Big Disk not mounting as a shared device

    Hi!
Today, I purchased a brand new AirPort Extreme 802.11n to replace my now dead NetGear WGR614. The set-up went well, but I have a query.
I also own a LaCie 1TB Big Disk connected to the AEBS via ethernet as a NAS Drive. The disk itself is set-up with Apple File Server and Bonjour Services enabled. With my NetGear WGR614, the hard drive would automatically appear in the Shared Devices column in Finder. The only way I have been able to achieve this same outcome is to log into the drive using Command-K and then adding it to the Login Items in the Accounts Preference Pane. This is so it will automatically appear connected in the Shared Devices column after a restart.
I have spent the morning searching many and varied forums for a solution, but almost all entries deal with USB connected drives.
If anyone has some information they would like to share, it would be greatly appreciated.
    Many thanks in advance.
    Rodger.

    Solved on the MacTalk.com.au forums.

  • DVD will not play and states "supported disk not available" and makes a weird noise and then ejects the dvd

My MacbookPro is only 5 months old and in really good condition. The only problem I am encountering is that when I insert any type of dvd disc, it starts to make this weird grinding noise that goes eeee-eeee, and then does that a couple of times and then the disc ejects on its own. When i try to play it with idvd, it does the same noise thing and then iDvd state "supported disk not available". The dvd does not even read on the computer.

If only five months old it is still under warranty. Take it back.

  • Internal web cam does not work and unknown usb device pops up

I have had my Pavillion DV6 1230us laptop now for about 7 years now and it was working great untill last year. When the lap top comes out of sleep mode or I restart the computer the " unkown device" balloon pops up. I have tried the following fixes, un-installing all the usb devices and did a reboot, I removed the main battery and held the power button for 2 minutes and re-installed it , I have re-installed the webcam drivers from HP and even removed and installed  the small mother board battery with no sucess. When the " unknown device " balloon pops up I can hear an audio prompt like I am plugging and un-plugging a usb device in one of the ports but I am just watching and hearing the problem happening.

    Hey Scotman,
The Webcam would not be listed as USB device as it is built into the Notebook. Do you have anything connected USB? What do you see in device manager for your Image devices? Here is a video on Webcam. I am not sure if anything will help you in it or not. If you remove all USB devices in the device manager and remove all USB cords from the computer the balloon should not appear on restart.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks.

  • K9Copy and K3b - no devices found

I'm Running Arch with kernel 2.6.28.8-1 (a custom parallel kernel) with GNOME as the DE with the KDE 4.2.2 libs installed and the latest repo versions of K9copy and K3b.
The problem is that neither K3b nor K9copy are showing any selectable devices i.e. my Benq DW1640 DVD RW drive (which is on IDE interface, Slave 0).
The drive is detected and runs fine under Nero Linux which I have installed as well.
My user is a member of the optical group, and I've tried running both programs as root, but still no devices are found.
Not many ideas turned up on a search, other than permissions and ensuring user is a member of 'optical', which I've already done.
    Thoughts on where to next?

I think there was a bug that made the link between /dev/sr0 and /dev/cdrom disappear. Most programs look for /dev/cdrom. If you can change that, try pointing them to /dev/sr0 until that little bug is fixed. I can't remember if it's a kernel bug or udev or ??? There's a thread about it here somewhere...
    Good luck!

    Hi.
On boot I see the message
