Disk Not Ready Error

I have installed Itunes several times on my computer and it always does thge same even when I do a clean install. Itunes installs and it even picks up my Ipod but when I try to move music over it gives me a "Disk drive not ready. Please make sure that the disk drive tray is not open." error and then it gives the choice to "Continue", "Try again" or "Cancel" after choosing any of the options, itunes
no longer recognizes the Ipod unless I restart. I know its not the Ipod (Nano) because I formatted it and installed it on a completely different computer and I get no problems. I even tried it with another Ipod (Mini) and I got no problems. I have the 3.0 Installer for windows and SP4 so I am really stumped.

Several things can cause the bios to fail recognize the hard dirive.
0. Try loading bios defaults, save changes on exit of bios, see iff the error persists.
1. Bad hard drive (try another hard drive)
2. Bad hard drive data cable (replace cable)
3. Failed hard drive controller on the motherboard (replace motherboard)

Time machine fails backing up with a "backup disk not found" error after upgrade to Lion 10.7.2. I've erased and reformatted the drive; reconnected Time Machine(it saw it) and began a new backup. The backup starts again but fails before completing with backup drive not found error. I used the 10.7.2 combo update. Any help on how to fix this problem would be appreciated.

After waiting since October for a fix, I have now upgraded the firmware on the Time Capsule and installed the new Airport Utility, released yesterday, and the situation is even worse.
Up until now, the Airport Utility had an option to disconnect all drives manually and the Time Capsule would then work until the next reboot – a temporary (?) work-around.
Now that option does not exist in the new-look Airport Utility. And the Airport Utility installation can’t be rolled back and the old utility won’t restore.
The sparesbundle is still not accessible. Anyone worked out a work-around in the new environment yet?
I have another Time Machine backup working fine to a trusty old Lacie Drive so erased the one on my Time Capsule to see if that works. I have renamed the Capsule and the Time Capsule Drive. But to build another full backup will take at least two days and I shall be away from tomorrow and am reluctant to leave the Capsule and computer up and running for a week. And I’ll bet the sparsbundle will still be nowhere to be found.
How can Apple screw up so badly when they are to become the richest company in the entire world and – soon – will have more cash in the bank than the entire United States? Can’t they afford someone who really can sort this out? Especially when a Firewire connected hard drive – my trusty and simple LaCie – works fine.
Words, almost, fail me.

"Drive not ready" error message; synching issue

Hi- this is my first posting!
I am having problems syncing my ipod and itunes. I keep getting the error message "Drive is not ready for use; its door may be open. Please check drive \Device\Harddisk1\DR3 (here it has been DR5, DR3 and DR21 at different times) and make sure that a disk is inserted and that the drive door is closed."
Of possible relevance-I am on a network computer and this message has occurred after 1. a computer upgrade and 2. the discovery of spyware on my computer, and 3. itunes and (attempted) ipod update. (The spyware issue has been fixed, but I wasn't involved in doing that.)
A final bit of info-I have tried to change the E: drive to a different letter, like Z: but that gave me the same message.
Any suggestions?

Drive Not Ready Error Message

Hello all,
Today I tried to sync my Ipod and I got an error message that said "Drive not ready". When I turned my ipod back on, it was wiped clean. Itunes was not seeing the ipod, then it was, and finally I was able to restore it. However, when it goes to sync up after being restored, it only gets up to about song 300 until I get this error message:
itunes.exe - Drive not ready
The drie is not ready for use; its door may be open. Please check drive \Device\Harddisk1\DR3 and make sure that a disk is inserted and that the drive door is closed.
Any suggestions?

Hard disk Not found Error

My computer suddenly after working properly the day before, started displaying an error that says hard disk Not found. It is not booting up to windows aince the hard disk has been disconnected in some way. It is still under the hp manufacturers warranty till auguat of 2015, so would I be able to send it in for either a device replacement or a service order to correct the error. Also there is a small crack in the body near the charging port, but that is from a drop from eariler. Please get back to me as soon as possible, my son needs to use this for his computer science class.

You should contact HP directly to arrange to have the notebook sent in for warranty repair.

Backup disk not available error

I had been using a Time Capsule as a backup device for years. It has worked very well. Last month, there was some work being done in my house and the contractors knocked over my cable modem and Time Capsule. They weren't damaged, but they got disconnected.
I had trouble getting everything started back up until I reset the Time Capsule to its factory settings and set up a new network, that had the same name as my old one.
The Time Capsule transmits fine, but it won't make backups.
I get a variety of error messagess:
1) Backup disk not available
2) User name or password for backup disk is not available
I know the passwords are correct. The backup disk shows up in Finder. But the Time Capsule won't start backing up.
I have tried deleting an entry from the Preferences folder for the Time Machine and reestablishing it and I get the same error.

This was finally solved by removing every possible permutation of the name of the network and TC from the Keychain and reentering all the passwords.

Nikon D100 'Disk not recognized' error

I can't get my Nikon D100 to show up on my computer. I have tried two different machines (macbook and macbook pro both on OS X 10.4.11) and both give me the error 'Disk not recognised' when I attached the camera to the computer via USB. The camera switches to PC mode automatically and I can see memory card in Disk Utility. What am I missing? Do I need a driver for the D100 to mount?

Cannot access time machine, backup disk not available error code.

My time machine stopped backing up. It is a 2TB. I get error code -6584. and says backup disk not available. Coincidentally, I had to reset my time machine for a forgotten password about 6 days ago. Wi-fi works fine, but a few days later when trying to access old files throughout the time capsule I could not. Said my last back up was the day the time machine had to be reset. I have 1.79 of TB used..which is weird my computer is only 4 G and have only filled up 2.4 G of it.
ANy ideas?

We haven't seen report of problem with 6584 for a while. It generally means a corrupted backup. You need to do a verify of the back.

This will take a very very long time if the backup has almost filled the TC.. so at least use ethernet connection.
You do have a problem.. the formatted capacity of a 2TB disk is 1.8TB.. If you have used up 1.79TB then sorry but you really need to erase the TC and start over.
The TM can fill up huge disks if you use parallels or dropbox or any dual boot system that has a virtual disk file.. TM will backup 20GB for every 1KB change. That file is hidden btw so you might not see it but I assure you it will chew up space.
I don't know what you mean by computer having only 4GB. That would make it rather ancient.. Surely even smallest SSD must be 64 or 128GB.

I get a message" printer not ready" when printing to "Adobe PDF." Have changed many settings, without success. Occurs when printing from MS Outlook, Internet Explorer, and MS Word. Any way to make Adobe Acrobat print a file as a PDF?

...still no luck... AcroTray is running according to Task Manager. I tried using the "Repair" option in the Add/Remove Programs control panel item. I still get a message "Printer not ready" or simply a null response from the computer when requesting a print to Adobe PDF.
Do I need to completely reinstall Adobe Acrobat Standard XI?

Time Machine "Backup disk not available" error message since install Snow L

Since installing Snow Leopard my back-ups have failed, generating the error message "The back-up disk is not available." Last successful back-up was immediately pre-install of Snow Leopard. TM looks like it is backing up but in the end I get the error message. The wireless aspect for internet connect works fine so I don't think connectivity is the issue.

I have four macs using time machine on a single 1TB drive connected to Airport Extreme through USB. This morning I got the dreaded error-109 on Mac#1. This occured right after I had added Mac#4 to the bunch. While adding the Mac#4, I mounted my airport disk and then used time machine to select it for backup. I forgot to eject it after it had done the initial backup. That was when the error occured on the Mac#1.

First I turned off TM on all of the Macs. I mounted the airport disk again, on Mac#1. I deleted the sparsebundle for Mac#1. I opened TM and selected the airport disk for backup. It is now backing up again on Mac#1. When it is finished, I will turn on TM once again on the other macs and see what happens. There is still a chunk of space left on the airport disk, about 680GB after all of the backups

I'm trying to write a DVD and it simply isn't working. DVD-R's don't work, but DVD+R's do. I'm getting the error message that's in the topic name every time I try to do a simple "Burn" to DVD-R. Any suggestions? (I've tried restarting computer to no avail.)

If you using DVDSP to burn your disc, you can try another * Creating Disc Image in DVDSP * and burning with Disk Utility or Toast. This workflow use to solve some issues related with DVDSP beeing VERY sensitive to media.
Besides that you can read here * about quality media *. Try getting allways first quality media.

I keep getting this annoying pop up randomly and it takes 100 clicks to get it to go away. I uploaded all updates. What next? The old HP Deskjet I had had the same type of nonsense error messages. Won't buy another HP if this is not resolved! HELP! I have an officejet 6500.

I am having the problem as described in the first post and I followed your command to turn on the notebook, press F12 and boot from CD/DVD. After that, the RAMDISK is loading and then there is a "PLEASE WAIT" message and then my notebook suddenly turned off and turned on again without doing any recovery (just start normally in Windows). Do you have any ideas to help?

Might be worth double-checking your authorization.
If that doesn't help, post back with more detail.

Sometimes ADE gets its registration/activation confused and in a semi-authorized state.
Uninstalling and reinstalling does not help.
Unfortunately, it often then gives misleading error messages about what is wrong.
A common incorrect message informs you that the ID is already in use on another computer and cannot be reused.
This can often be resolved by completely removing any authorization using ctrl-shift-D to the Library screen on ADE (cmd-shift-D if on Mac).
Restart ADE, and then reauthorize with your (old) Adobe ID.
In extreme cases on the mac, the following extra step has helped some people. Navigate to /Users//Library/Application Support/Adobe/Digital Editions and drag the activation.dat file to the trash. "Message storage memory not ready" error message

Ever since I got my Nokia 2320 (which for some unknown reason is not listed on this site) back in December, it ran slow when I turned it on and took a few minutes (up to five) to what I call "recall the messages and remember it could send messages." But lately the time it takes to recall the messaging is longer and longer. A couple days ago it took me 27 hours. This time, its been 30. I read on another site about a guy who had this same message on this same phone and it had been 3 days and the problem had still not corrected itself. I want to know what is happening, why, and how to fix it. I called my carrier customer service and have been on the phone with them on and off for about a month about it. They have NO CLUE what it is. HELP!
