Disk space not enough

the planning database grows very fast .... it grows 100gb/month
any help
to reduce it

Hi-
1. By changing the density of the data, by means of increasing the number of sparse dimensions, u will reduce the .pag files and increasing slightly .ind data.
2. By setting the data type from Stored to Dynamic Calc or Label Only, u will reducing the block size (if done in dense dimensions), and number of blocks (if done in sparse dimensions).
3. Try to restructure ur database, in case of the database is suffering fragmentation.

I have 11 partitions (drive letters). Which one I should check? System partition, programs partition, tmp partition or profile partition? Games partitions maybe or documents?

That message may be misleading; try these installers:

  • OS X could not install on this disk. Not enough disk space

    Hi,
Disclamer here is that I am completely new to the Mac world after having used purely Windows for the last 15 odd years so sory for any silly mistakes
I tried to do an upgrade on my Mac Book Air but am running into a really annoying issue am hoped that someone would be able to give me some much needed help.
I downloaded Mavericks from the app store with no issues. I then tried to do the upgrade and I get to the OS X installer screen, were I chose my language then hit next. I then select the harddrive to install on press install. I then get to the Installing X screen and status says Installing OXS on the disk "Macintosh HD"
After a few seconds I get a message saying "OS X could not install on this disk. There is not enough space on this disk to install the selected items. Deselect at least 1.16 GB and try again"
I appreciate that I need to delete some files but how can I get get to the files in order to delete them as, as soon as I resart the PC I get caught in the same loop
Manu thanks for taking the time to look at this and for your help

If you cannot get into your Mac at all, if you MacBook Air is still under AppleCare, you can purchase an external hard drive to connect up  to your MacBook Air (MBA), bring both the drive and your Mac in an Appe Store or Apple Auhtorized reseller/repair center so Apple techs can install a bootable copy of OS X 10.9 Mavericks onto the external drive where you can boot to that drive from your MBA and access your MBA's internal hard drive and start cleaning off and archiving data.
You should never, EVER let a conputer hard drive get completely full, EVER!
With Macs and OS X, you shouldn't let the hard drive get below 15 GBs or less of free data space.
If it does, it's time for some hard drive housecleaning.
Follow some of my tips for cleaning out, deleting and archiving data from your Mac's internal hard drive.
Have you emptied your iMac's Trash icon in the Dock?
If you use iPhoto, iPhoto has its own trash that needs to be emptied, also.
If you store images in other locations other than iPhoto, then you will have to weed through these to determine what to archive and what to delete.
If you use Apple Mail app, Apple Mail also has its own trash area that needs to be emptied, too!
Delete any old or no longer needed emails and/or archive to disc, flash drives or external hard drive, older emails you want to save.
Delete any other mail in your Junk folders. Also, look through your Sent Mail to see if there is anything that can be deleted.
Other things you can do to gain space.
Once you have around 15 GBs regained, do a search, download and install OmniDisk Sweeper.
This app will help you locate files that you can move/archive and/or delete from your system.
STAY AWAY FROM DELETING ANY FILES FROM OS X SYSTEM FOLDER!
Look through your Documents folder and delete any type of old useless type files like "Read Me" type files.
Again, archive to disc, flash drives, ext. hard drives or delete any old documents you no longer use or immediately need.
Look in your Applications folder, if you have applications you haven't used in a long time, if the app doesn't have a dedicated uninstaller, then you can simply drag it into the OS X Trash icon. IF the application has an uninstaller app, then use it to completely delete the app from your Mac.
Download an app called OnyX for your version of OS X.
When you install and launch it, let it do its initial automatic tests, then go to the cleaning and maintenance tabs and run the maintenance tabs that let OnyX clean out all web browser cache files, web browser histories, system cache files, delete old error log files.
Typically, iTunes and iPhoto libraries are the biggest users of HD space.
move these files/data off of your internal drive to the external hard drive and deleted off of the internal hard drive.
If you have any other large folders of personal data or projects, these should be archived or moved, also, to the optical discs, flash drives or external hard drive and then either archived to disc and/or deleted off your internal hard drive.
    Good Luck!

  • Disk permissions/not enough disk space Warnings

When trying to export tracks, on one system we use, (using an External FW800 1tb HD) with only about 50gb used, after I hit EXPORT on the menu, It tries to write, then I get a disk permissions warning/not enough disk space. ALl the permission on my disk are set to read and write. Anybody?

sorry for the multiple posts... First two tracks exported fine, then the third track generated the error again. I discovered that track had a / in the track name, which meant the files had a / in the name. Removed the slash by renaming the track. BINGO, problem solved. files on computers can't have / in the file names right... beware of the other characters not allowed.
    Hope this helps someone.

  • Time Machine won't restore a critical backup - disk space not sufficient error

Using Time Machine Restore Backup says my Macintosh HD has 55 GB available. I need to restore a 50GB Time Machine Backup from an external disk to the Macintosh HD device as the transfer destination of the restore copy it it gives me a message 'This Disk does not have enough space to restore your system'. In fact trying to restore all my many time backups over the past months give the same error even though the backup size is less then my Macintosh HD destination.
So I used the Time Machine software to delete many of my documents in the backup that I want to restore, now it is 30 GB through the Time machine finder, but restoring still gives me the same error. However, time machine made a new backup of my system today of 30 GB but when I go through the backup process using this, there is no error about there not being enough space.
It seems although the finder in Time Machine recognises that file is just 30 GB, in the restore process it doesn't recognise that file has been reduced to 30GB

If you're trying to add a large amount of data all at once, and you get an alert of insufficient space, then from the menu bar, select
     ▹ System Preferences... ▹ Time Machine
If the padlock icon is closed, click it to unlock the settings and authenticate. Turn Time Machine OFF, then back ON and close the preference pane. Restart the computer. Test.

  • Disck Space not enough during upgrade CUCM 9.1(2)SU1 to 9.1(2)SU2a

    Hi,
I face an issues during upgrade my current CUCM 9.1(2)SU1 to 9.1(2)SU2a, it show with this error message "There is not enough disk space in the common partition to perform the upgrade, for steps to resolve this condition please refer to CUCM 9.1(1) release notes or view defect CSCuc63312 in bug toolkit on Cisco.com".  I had check the bug id and got 2 way to do it:-
    1. reduce the amount of traces on the system, but I not ready want to do this
    2. install a COP file name: ciscocm.free_common_space_v1.0.cop.sgn
If I select option 2, will it have any risk? Is it mean 9.1(2) - inactive version will be clear out from disk space or it will clear out 2 version - active and inactive version from disk space?
I need have some advice on this before I perform.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    As per the following link
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/rel_notes/9_1_1/CUCM_BK_R6F8DBD4_00_release-notes-for-cucm-91/CUCM_BK_R6F8DBD4_00_release-notes-for-cucm-91_chapter_011.html
You will not be able to switch to the previous version after the COP file is installed. For example, if you are upgrading from Cisco Unified Communications Manager 9.0(1) to Cisco Unified Communications Manager 9.1(1) and the previous version is Cisco Unified Communications Manager 8.6, the COP file clears the space by removing the 8.6 version data that resides in the common partition. So after you apply the COP file, you will not be able to switch to the 8.6 version."
Additionally, regarding the first option, if you do not want to reduce the tracing levels you can still delete some old traces using RTMT which gives you an option of deleting the traces from the server as well as transferring / downloading them to your pc simultaneously by checking the 'delete from server' option on last page of log file collection option.

  • Available disk space not correct

    I'm using a MacBook Pro (March 2011) running 10.6.8.
I just deleted (technically backed up to an external raid and then deleted from the system disk) about 8gb worth of files.
However, in Finder and in Disk Utility, it shows 1.96GB available.  That number is up a little and for awhile at least, was growing.
I'm also experiencing this same problem on an external USB drive.  I deleted about 3 gb worth of files, but the available disk
    space hasn't increased.
I'm coming from the PC world, where, if you delete a bunch of stuff, the free disk space magically increases to show the correct amount.
    What gives?
    Thanks,
    Larry

    Thanks.
I thought about that but a Genius at a local Apple store told me that whatever's in the Trash doesn't impact the total free disk space.
I suppose this means not all the Genuises (Geni?) are Geniuses?
    Thanks,
    Larry

  • Disk Space not restored after deleting iphone backup

    Hi,
Today while restoring my iphone i realised that itunes had made multiple copies of ~3gb of my iphone data. Since my iphone was restored successfully I decided to remove all the backups and make a fresh new backup. After deleting the multiple backups I found that my available disk space had not increased at all. I even went to ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup and ther was nothing in there. So I went ahead and made a new backup which consumed additional ~3gb. And just to test if it was only itunes that was doing this I deleted my photos from iphoto ~5gb and even that did not give me back my 5gb. I went to trash and I dont have anything there.
So, here I am confused as to where my deleted stuff is going to because it does not seem like its getting deleted.
Anything that i can do get my space back?
    Thanks,
    Yogi

Local snapshots are hidden copies of files that have been changed or deleted in between Time Machine snapshots. They are stored in free space that would otherwise be unused, and therefore wasted. The space occupied by the snapshots is managed automatically. When free space starts to run low, the snapshots are deleted. The Finder reports the space occupied by local snapshots as "Available," which it is.
If there are unwanted changes to your files in between Time Machine snapshots — which may be far apart when you're moving around with a portable computer — you may be able to revert the changes from a local snapshot. If you disable local snapshots, you lose that protection, and you gain nothing. There is no offsetting benefit whatsoever; merely added risk.
Empty storage space is simply wasted. You paid for it to be there, but it's doing you no good at all. Local snapshots put it to use.
Very rarely, if ever, you might need to delete the local snapshot store in order to add a large amount of data all at once. If that need ever arises, which it probably won't, all you have to do is turn Time Machine OFF in its preference pane, and then turn it back ON immediately.
You should ignore the bad advice that circulates on this site to disable local snapshots permanently by running a shell command. If you ran such a command, ask for instructions on how to reverse it.

  • Free disk space not changing after deleting (large) photos

    Hi,
I wasn't sure whether to post this on the iPhoto board or on the MBA one, since it's not clear if it's a system-level issue or not. Anyway, I had about 30GB of free space on my 256GB MBA and the other day I deleted four or five albums of photos from my DSLR that I'd downloaded to my computer, after I made backups of them elsewhere. In total there were about 3,500 photos, roughly 24MB each on average. I made sure that after deleting them, I deleted my iPhoto Trash as well as the system Trash. Neverless, my level of free space hardly budged and if anything, it decreased slightly. I've read several threads saying to wait a while as sometimes the system takes a delay to adjust - that's fine.
It's now almost five days later and the situation remains the same, if not worse. I ran DaisyDisk and aside from the usual large folders (my movies in iTunes etc, none of which had been added to since I deleted all those photos), the only one I couldn't recognise was this folder iLifeAssetManagement (9GB). I know that there are a few threads about this one, and most people seem to suggest you can clear this if you're happy to lose the content in your Photo Stream. The thing is, I've looked through some of the images in this folder and I'm quite positive that a number of them are from the DSLR albums (there are CR2 files, which I believe is Canon's exclusive RAW format). Some of the others are definitely from my iCloud Photo stream. I'm more than glad to lose all the DSLR ones, though I'd like to keep the iCloud ones and I don't really want to have to sort through 5,000-odd files. I'm positive that this folder is related to why I never gained that free space.
Has anybody else had issues like this and any suggestions for clearing this folder of all the files I already meant to delete, whilst keeping the others? Or have you had issues relating to this? Any help much appreciated.
    Thanks.

If you've installed third-party software called "Disk Drill," I suggest you remove it according to the developer'sinstructions. If you prefer to keep the software, refer to the developer for support. Otherwise, see below.
You may notice a difference in available space statistics between Disk Utility, Finder, and Get Info inspectors. This is expected and can be safely ignored. The Finder displays the available space on the disk without accounting for the local snapshots, because local snapshots will surrender their disk space if needed.

  • Disk space not found

tried to partition using bootcamp while installing win 7...in between the process, power went off.......now i lost 250 gb space coz it is not showing it anywhere

There are numerous utilties available to inventory your HD so you can see where the space went. If you Google something like "Where is my disk space OS X" you will find them. One I've used was Grand Perspective,  you can find it at:
    http://grandperspectiv.sourceforge.net/
If that doesn't help you you may be forced to do an erase and install of you HD and restore from either your Time Machine or Bootable Clone backup.

  • Unallocated disk space not showing up in disk management

I have an HP Proliant dl 380 running Windows 2008. My c:\drive was built on a 33 gig raid 1 partition. I am almost out of drive space. I have tried this method before on Windows server 2000 and it worked. However this time it did not. I took one
of the 33 gig drives out and put a 146 gig drive in it's place. I let the mirror rebuild itself. When it was done I put the other 146 gig drive in and let it rebuild. Now I still have the 33 gig partition but when I ran disk management
the unallocated space did not show up so I cannot extend the volume. I tried to rescan the drives and have device manager rescan as well but no go. I talked with hp and they had me update the firmware of the raid card and restart but still nothing.
    Can anyone help?

  • Space not enough in the transfer from view to fml

I define that the view's count is 100 and the fml occurence is 100,but when
when i use Fvstof32 to transfer from c structure to fml,the ferror report :NO
    SPACE ENOUGH
When i increase the fml occurence ,that can solve this problem .
How i use this to solve this problem without increase the fml occ?
    append:

    struct INTVAL {
/* View structure for intval information */

         long     smid[100];          /* null=0 */

    #define     VALUE     ((FLDID32)100663699)     /* number: 403     type: float */

I'm not sure what you mean when you say that you define the FML
occurrences as 100. FML does not have a way to limit the number of
    occurrences.
Are you referring to the occurrences in the Fneeded32 function? You will
also need "Value" space for the data itself.
Can you call Funused32 right after you tpalloc or Falloc the buffer, and
see what it says? And if you're using Fneeded32, can you call it on its
own, and see what it is returning?
Since your field types are all numeric, they do not need to store field
lengths. I'm assuming that you're on a 32 bit machine, so each of your
data fields takes up 4 bytes. There are another 4 bytes per field for
the Field ID. So you need 300*8 bytes just for the data. Then you need
space for the header and the index. If your index interval is 16, you'll
    need around 20 entries.
I would say that 4000 bytes should be adequate, as long as you don't
plan on adding too many fields to the buffer.

  • Used disk space not showing up in finder

A friend has asked me to look into his external hard drive issue.
He got it back from a store that backed up his start-up drive to this external the other day to discover that there isn't any visible files on the drive. It does state that there is 100 gigs being used on the drive, the exact size of his back up, but there isn't one file or folder on the drive.
I've used tinkertools to see if there was any hidden files with no luck and I've also repaired and verified the permission.
Does anyone know why this is happening? I don't want to simply re-format without a clue why the 100 gigs isn't showing.
