Disk space required for Grid Control

Just getting started with the Grid Control. Anyone know roughly how much disk space is required for a basic installation?

I've re-posted this in the grid forum.

  • What are the disk space requirements for CC2014?

Yes, Adobe has the system requirements for each INDIVIDUAL app in CC2014 listed, but they're all listed separately. Since I'll be installing the entire suite on my new machine, I'd like to know the disk space requirements for the ENTIRE suite.
    Thanks

There's a summary in the table at the bottom of the page here:

  • Disk space required for business content activation

    Hi everyone,
I'm looking for information about how much disk space is required for activation of differents parts of business content (or ultimately, ALL business content in NW04S). I'm also looking for that information on extractors side on R/3.
Reason why i'm asking is that I am convinced that it is better to activate as much Biz Content as possible straight at the beginning of an implementation project even though part of it should not be used in the first place(mostly because if you activate BC later while already in production you have high risks of overwrite or conflicts with existing objects). However I am often opposed the argument that this consumes useless diskspace blah blah blah...
I'd be curious to know the exact diskspace Biz Content actually takes when activated, so any information about it is welcome.
    Thanks!

    I have a MacBook Pro with a 500GB disk.
Thinking about upgrading to 10.8 but in the App Store the Customer Reviews are mixed leaning to negative.
In the last couple of weks I've been having a lot of negative experiences with Apple in specific this issue: https://discussions.apple.com/message/15394781#15394781.
I want to avoid having a negative experience if I decide to move forward with the upgrade.

  • Database limits for Grid control repository?

Document "Oracle® Database Licensing Information / 10g Release 2 (10.2)" [Part Number B14199-10] discusses the restricted use license of database for grid control repository and rman repository use.
nfrastructure Repository Databases A separate Oracle Database can be installed and used as a Recovery Manager (RMAN) repository without additional license requirements, provided that all the Oracle databases managed in this repository are correctly licensed. This repository database may also be used for the Oracle Enterprise Grid Control repository. It may not be used or deployed for other uses.
A separate Oracle Database can be installed and used as a Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid Control (OEM Grid Control) repository without additional license requirements, provided that all the targets (databases, applications, and so forth) managed in this repository are correctly licensed. This database may also be used for the RMAN repository. It may not be used or deployed for other uses.
There is no discussion of licensing requirements for options of the database (RAC, partitioning, etc) when the database stays within these repository use restrictions. Therefore it is unclear whether the Grid Control can be configured to provide appropriate monitoring without additional licenses.

This is the reply I received from release
    management:
If they have deployed an EE edition of the database
as an OEM repository, and then want to protect that
with RAC or Data Guard, or make more Secure with ASO
or Database Vault, or indeed get any of the
additional benefits any of the options provide, then
they will need to license the option.
Let me know if that is still not clear, and I'll go
    back again.Thanks.
There is a minor inconsistency in their response ... they say "if deployed on EE". However, as far as I know OEM repository required VPD, which is available only on Enterprise Edition (see http://download-east.oracle.com/docs/cd/B16240_01/doc/em.102/e10953/pre-installation_req.htm#CHDGIEAD)
However, it is quite clear that 'they' are telling us that the RAC option is not inherent in the "Special Use Licensing" as described http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/license.102/b14199/editions.htm#CJAHFHBJ .
The implication (not necessarily a topic for this forum) is that the OEM is not guaranteed to be able to provide basic monitoring and reporting functionality without additional license fees to make OEM more highly available than the targets being monitored.
It would be nice to have the information about which Oracle products (database and app server) have included licenses with a basic Grid Control install and which require additional licenses as part of Chapter 1 of http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/license.102/b40010/toc.htm (That document goes into excruciating detail about the extra packs, but ignores the basics.)
For that matter, since OEM Grid Control can not be purchased, it would be nice to have a list of products that provide license to install Grid Control, again in Chapter 1 of the Grid Control Licensing document listed above.
I appreciate your time in having dug into this.

  • Problem Load Balancing connections for Grid Control Console on port 80!

I have two OMS and I'm balancing connections for Grid Control Console using a Software Load Balancer according with "Oracle Enterprise Manager Advanced Configuration". I have success where the load balancer is listening on port different to 80. When I configure Load Balancer to listen on port 80(architecture requirement) and distribute load between the two OMS(Port 7779), when login to Enterprise Manager Console the URL on the web browser changes to the port configured for HTTP server (port 7780) wich produces an "unable to connect" error message; and this behaviour also happends in some of the internal links of Grid Control Console too. Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance!

  • JDK1.4.2_02 disk space requirements (bugs 4842602, 4842606)

I can't find any way to install J2SE 1.4.2_02 on a machine with 70MB free on the C: drive. The installer reports "insufficient space on drive C:" and bombs out immediately, without giving me an opportunity to specify a different drive to install it on. I've looked at the description of disk space requirements in the release notes and it explains which components take up space in which drives, and in theory I should have been able to install it on my system - but I can't. I've set %TEMP% to a different drive in case the problem was caused by the temporary files used by the installer, no help.
Bugs 4842602 and 4842606 seem to match the symptoms I'm getting i.e. the installer insists on having 371MB free space regardless of the actual installation requirements. These two bugs are marked as fixed in "mantis-rc" and "tiger". What do these names relate to? I can't find any way to relate these to J2SE versions.
Can anyone advise on a workaround for this problem, or help me work out what "mantis-rc" and "tiger" are?
    Thx,
    Peter Humphries

I was aiming to install the JDK on a different drive, which had masses of free space. As I understand it, some components have to go on the system drive anyway (the public JRE I think) but most of it would have been installed elsewhere. However, the installer bailed immediately and didn't give me the chance to say what components I wanted or where I wanted them installed.
JavaSoft say the bug has been fixed in "mantis-rc" and "tiger". Is there any way to work out what releases these names correspond to?

  • A possible bug for Grid control?

    Hi, Dear all,
We installed Grid control 10.2.0.1 on Redhat Linux R3 with existing database(10.2.0.4).
During the installation, we succeeded for repository creating but failed at OMS Configuration.
When I start oms in cmd line, I got the following error: the repository database can not be connected.
    The description for the environment:
    1. OMS server and repository database are installed on the same server, on which HA is used.
    2. There are two floating IP on this machine,
IP | server name | used for |
    xx.xx.xx.124 | cnsz030318 | oms server |
    xx.xx.xx.80 | oem.db.paci.com.cn | repository database |
3.When we installed the oms with OUI, the repository server we input is oem.db.paci.com.cn
    The problem we found:
During the installation, the repository was created successfully. But it failed at OMS configuration.
The error we got: the repository database can not be connected.
there are two lines in emoms.properities which seems strange:
    oracle.sysman.eml.mntr.emdRepServer=oem.db.paic.com.cn
    oracle.sysman.eml.mntr.emdRepConnectDescriptor=(DESCRIPTION\=(ADDRESS_LIST\=(ADDRESS\=(PROTOCOL\=TCP)(HOST\=cnsz030318.db.paic.com.cn)(PORT\=1535)))(CONNECT_DATA\=(SID\=oem10g)))
The emdRepServer is what we have input on OUI:oem.db.paic.com.cn. But for the connectDescriptor, it is changed to "cnsz030318.db.paic.com.cn", which does not exist at all!.
Now, we have worked around this problem by adding "cnsz030318.db.paic.com.cn" in the /etc/hosts.
But my question is, why the connectDescriptor set the HOST\ as cnsz030318.db.paic.com.cn? Why does it not use the name we input in OUI (oem.db.paic.com.cn)?
Maybe it is a bug for Grid control?

Did you install with "Use existing database" or "Use new database"?
I recommend that you use fully qualified domain names only!

  • DVD Disk Space Requirements - Best Performance vs. Quality

I put together an iDVD 8 project that has about 135 minutes of content. When I go to burn the DVD using the Best Performance setting, is says it takes about 7gb (and I need to use DL). When I switch to the Professional Quality setting the disk space requirements are about half (almost to the point I can use a single-layer DVD). It seems it should be the exact opposite where more detailed, less compressed images should take more disk space.
Can someone explain this apparent contradiction? Thanks.

Google and learn about MPEG2 compression.... this is the backbone to iDVD. In general you have three encoding options:
    CBR: Constant Bit-Rate
    Single Pass VBR (variable bit-rate)
    Two-pass VBR
CBR keeps the bit rate constant and therefore is the fasted way of encoding.
VBR will vary the bit rate. Scenes with a lot of motion get a higher bit rate, static scenes a lower bit rate.
Two pass VBR will analyze the entire sequence on the first pass to determine where and how high or low to go with the bit rate and then on the second pass, do the actual encoding. The two pass method may determine that you can go with a much lower average bit rate thus saving precious disc space. This method also takes twice as long!
But, that is just the math. Some sequences look better via CBR while others look better with two-pass VBR. Unfortunately, there isn't really a way to determine this prior to the lengthy encoding process. The best thing one can do is keep content as short as possible. If I had 135 minutes of material and I was using iDVD, I would want to create 2 DVDs instead of one. But that's me.

  • What is Hardware/O.S. Recommendations for Grid Control server

I understand both Linux and Window servers are supported for Grid Control Installation.
However, since we are running Exadata database and cells, what would be your recommendation when we choose which O.S. we should run G.C. on?
Since the entire Exadata environment is running Linux, so, personally I'd prefer to use Linux server. But, what is your preference, and please detail your reasons.
    Thank you!

Grid Control (OEMGC 11g) for Windows is only available (certified) for 32 bit Windows. So you can run into memory limitations, dependeing on the number of agents/targets you will be monitoring. Second you have to install Cygwin on your Windows server if you want (or need) to be able to SSH to a Linux/Unix server. Installing Cygwin is very problematic to say the least.
If you would use OEMCC (12c), and I don't know why you wouldn't, you can install the 64 bit version for Windows however you still have to install Cygwin.
So in your case I would go for the Linux version.

  • How to configure the requirements for output control ?

    Hi ,
I have some problems in configuring the requirements for output control like following :
My aim is to make a condition check when i create an inbound delivery ( VL31N)  or MIGO ...., as default in the requirement check for output , a message type will be created automatically if the it satisfies the condition in the KOBEV .....KOBEV( each sub routine was defined with a message type ( V6 )  ( if sy-subrc = 0) . And then a printing program will be triggered to print the SAPscripts form in the table "tnapr"  but even if i have put sy-subrc in ( KOBEV...KOBEV ) always = 0 the printing was not executed , and in this case i do not understand the reason why , If you please to help me this .
    Thanks ,

    Hi,
it seems that the requirement you made is not the reason why it's not printed. If you set sy-subrc to 0, this code should have no effect.
    Cheers,
    Stefan.

  • Access sequence requirement for output control

    Hi!
I would like to get some inputs on how access requirement for output control works. I created a new requirement for a condition table that has key combination billing type/sales org/country because I need to restrict the output for a paticular customer in one country. I think the requirement works fine such that it is not fulfilled for the customer that I want ot restrict, thus no output is created. However, I noticed that other customers in that sales org/country are affected by the requirement. The output is created (sy-subrc=0) but it is not processed (remains in yellow status). The output should be emailed immediately upon creation (medium 5/timing 4). For other sales org/countries the creation of output and sending of email work as expected.
I hope someone have valuable inputs regarding this.
Note: I created this discussion under ABAP development but it was rejected, for reason: This does not appear to be an ABAP question. So I hope I have selected the correct one with SD.
    Cholen

There is Output determination log available in the output screen (see the menu). It tells everything about how the output was proposed.
If the requirement is not fulfilled, you won't see output created with any color - yellow, red or purple with sparkles. If output has been proposed and has a yellow light it means it has not been processed yet. Output is processed only after the document has been saved, so while creating the document, you'll never see any other color. If after saving the document output is still yellow, it must have a different timing than 'process immediately' and it will be processed according to that setting.
This is a very simple concept, well documented and discussed gazillion of times on SCN. Requirements and conditions are two different things with different purposes. You might want to read a bit more on the output determination.
    Thank you.
