Disk Space Requirements - 11.5.9 Upgrade to Rel 12

Just wondering, roughly, aside from the database, how much disk space should I require for a basic upgrade of Oracle Fins - release 11.5.9 to release 12?
Is release 12 just like 11i was - meaning, it installed all the apps, even though you used just a few?
Thanks.

In addition to Gareth's very valid observations, you might also find Metalink Note 399362.1 to be useful...it shows data and tablespace growth statistics from an 11i->R12 upgrade.
On our systems, I've seen about 3-5% growth in the size of the database when doing the R12 upgrade, but our system is fairly new...closer to the "3 year" system described in the note.

  • DVD Disk Space Requirements - Best Performance vs. Quality

I put together an iDVD 8 project that has about 135 minutes of content. When I go to burn the DVD using the Best Performance setting, is says it takes about 7gb (and I need to use DL). When I switch to the Professional Quality setting the disk space requirements are about half (almost to the point I can use a single-layer DVD). It seems it should be the exact opposite where more detailed, less compressed images should take more disk space.
Can someone explain this apparent contradiction? Thanks.

Google and learn about MPEG2 compression.... this is the backbone to iDVD. In general you have three encoding options:
    CBR: Constant Bit-Rate
    Single Pass VBR (variable bit-rate)
    Two-pass VBR
CBR keeps the bit rate constant and therefore is the fasted way of encoding.
VBR will vary the bit rate. Scenes with a lot of motion get a higher bit rate, static scenes a lower bit rate.
Two pass VBR will analyze the entire sequence on the first pass to determine where and how high or low to go with the bit rate and then on the second pass, do the actual encoding. The two pass method may determine that you can go with a much lower average bit rate thus saving precious disc space. This method also takes twice as long!
But, that is just the math. Some sequences look better via CBR while others look better with two-pass VBR. Unfortunately, there isn't really a way to determine this prior to the lengthy encoding process. The best thing one can do is keep content as short as possible. If I had 135 minutes of material and I was using iDVD, I would want to create 2 DVDs instead of one. But that's me.

  • What are the disk space requirements for CC2014?

Yes, Adobe has the system requirements for each INDIVIDUAL app in CC2014 listed, but they're all listed separately. Since I'll be installing the entire suite on my new machine, I'd like to know the disk space requirements for the ENTIRE suite.
    Thanks

  • JDK1.4.2_02 disk space requirements (bugs 4842602, 4842606)

I can't find any way to install J2SE 1.4.2_02 on a machine with 70MB free on the C: drive. The installer reports "insufficient space on drive C:" and bombs out immediately, without giving me an opportunity to specify a different drive to install it on. I've looked at the description of disk space requirements in the release notes and it explains which components take up space in which drives, and in theory I should have been able to install it on my system - but I can't. I've set %TEMP% to a different drive in case the problem was caused by the temporary files used by the installer, no help.
Bugs 4842602 and 4842606 seem to match the symptoms I'm getting i.e. the installer insists on having 371MB free space regardless of the actual installation requirements. These two bugs are marked as fixed in "mantis-rc" and "tiger". What do these names relate to? I can't find any way to relate these to J2SE versions.
Can anyone advise on a workaround for this problem, or help me work out what "mantis-rc" and "tiger" are?
    Thx,
    Peter Humphries

I was aiming to install the JDK on a different drive, which had masses of free space. As I understand it, some components have to go on the system drive anyway (the public JRE I think) but most of it would have been installed elsewhere. However, the installer bailed immediately and didn't give me the chance to say what components I wanted or where I wanted them installed.
JavaSoft say the bug has been fixed in "mantis-rc" and "tiger". Is there any way to work out what releases these names correspond to?

  • Disk Space Required to Install BOXI R2 SP 2 and SP 3

I have been unable to locate documentation stating how much disk space is required for the installation of BOXI Release 2 Service Packs 2 and 3. We are scheduled to upgrade our servers tomorrow and I have just discovered that we only have about 1.3 GB free space.  Will that be sufficient for the installs?
    Thanks. L. Sohn.

  • Inquiry on OPA and OPM Minimum Disk Space Requirement

    Hi,
We would like to know the required disk space (or minimum disk space needed) to install OPA and OPM. Thanks!

    Hi Frank,
Thanks for the reply. We are new to OPA and have no knowledge (except from its features and OPA runtime components) on how it works and integrated with PeopleSoft applications. Your assistance is highly appreciated.
Just some follow - up questions:
    - How much memory should we allocate for OPM and OPA? We'll use Oracle Weblogic for OPA on Java application.
    - Do we need to create a separate database instance for OPA? If yes, would you know how much disk space should we alllocate for it? If not, where will OPA store its data?
    Regards,
    AnnAnn,
Oracle Policy Automation communicates with systems like Peoplesoft via web services. For this the runtime components must run in a J2ee application server (java) or IIS (.NET). While the footprint of the OPA runtime is very small, application servers usually require a fair amount of memory allocated to them.
There is no OPA to Peoplesoft connector as a product, although Oracle Consulting have built several integrations for customers specific to their needs
OPA does not require any database at all to run. However, it does not persist results. An Integration between OPA and another system typically involved OPA sending the results of an Interview of Assessment to that system which is then responsible for doing something with the results.
You can find lots of information at http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/apps-tech/policy-automation

  • Disk space required for business content activation

    Hi everyone,
I'm looking for information about how much disk space is required for activation of differents parts of business content (or ultimately, ALL business content in NW04S). I'm also looking for that information on extractors side on R/3.
Reason why i'm asking is that I am convinced that it is better to activate as much Biz Content as possible straight at the beginning of an implementation project even though part of it should not be used in the first place(mostly because if you activate BC later while already in production you have high risks of overwrite or conflicts with existing objects). However I am often opposed the argument that this consumes useless diskspace blah blah blah...
I'd be curious to know the exact diskspace Biz Content actually takes when activated, so any information about it is welcome.
    Thanks!

  • Disk space requirement

    Hi, there,
I am planning to install 11.5.9 on RHAS3. The installation manual says the disk space for vision demo requires 80G(55+25). Can somebody confirm the actual space utilization after installation? Thanks.

My 11.5.9 Vision install on RH3 is 79GB, not including the staging area.

  • What hard disk space required

Hello .I am a novice to Solaris .
I had posted a question earlier but got no reply.
1.I just want to know how much hard disk space is needed for installing the Solaris 8 OS (IA) . I have a 7.5 GB hard disk and I want to know if this will suffice.
2.If I get a 40GB hard disk , can I install both Windows XP and Solaris 8 on it on 2 different partitions ?
    Please help;
    Thanks

It requires 1.4 gig technically, but rarely uses over 750meg. You will have plenty of space. You should be able to load both os's on the 7 gig, adding another small drive in later as excess storage space for either OS.

  • Not enough disk space. How do I upgrade it?

So basically, I have 75gb of overall space but only have about 3.8gb left now. I would like to somehow upgrade my overall disk space and i'm not sure what the best way to do that is. Is it best to go into an Apple store and ask them? If so, does anyone know what my options would be and approximately how much it would cost?
Also, how do I check what is taking up so much of my space because I have no idea?
    Thanks,

Here are instructions on replacing the hard drive in a MacBook with a removable battery.  http://creativemac.digitalmedianet.com/articles/viewarticle.jsp?id=45088
To transfer your current hard drive I like the free application Carbon Copy Cloner. It makes a bootable copy of everything on your hard drive http://www.bombich.com/index.html You'll need a cheap SATA external hard drive case. Put the new drive in the case then partition and format the new drive and clone your old drive to the new one. Check that it's set up right by booting up from the external drive. Then replace your old hard drive with the new one.

  • Disk space required to download an iTunes purchase

HHow do I know how much disk space I need available when I want to purchase say a full session of a tv show from iTunes

It will depend upon the length of the episodes, whether they're in HD or SD, and how many episodes there are in the series. As a rough estimate an hour's HD will be between about 2.4 and 2.6 gig, in SD about 700 to 800 meg - the size of an episode should be shown on its description page in the store
