Disk space running low

Hello all;
I have disk 0 of 136GB and it is partioned to 'C' 60 GB and 'D' 76GB. However the disk space on 'D' is running low everyday. There is apache webserver running however it is only 45gb and rest of the files are around 10gb. I was wondering where is the rest
20gb? 'D' drie is showing 700mb free Also I cleared some log files from apache and reduced 45gb to 25gb. Hence 'D' showed 18gb free. But today it is showing 1.64gb free.. I have no idea what is going on.

Hi,
“However the disk space on 'D' is running low everyday.”
Base on my experience, it most possible is your application cache full the disk space, or you have configured the unsuitable VSS back up schedule.

  • "Available disk space running low.  Shuttting down session."

I've been running into problems on a few machines that I have installed e-Load on. When I start the stress test, I get into a few iterations and then suddenly, the test will stop running and I get the following message:
"Available disk space running low. Shutting down session."
    Questions:
1.) What space is it referring to? The local machine or where the scripts are stored?
I can't seem to figure it out. The machines have more than enough space where e-Load is installed, over 10 Gigs free.
The scripts (repository) is on a shared network drive and that has 17 GB where the results are written to. Is there something I am missing?

  • Disk space running low... but not really.

I installed Arch on a 150Gb HD lately and I'm experiencing a pretty annoying thing regarding available space on the drive.
    Here is some info:
    fdisk

    0.0 B /sys
    0.0 B /srv
    e 0.0 B /mnt
    e 0.0 B /opt
Everything looks good so far and I should have plenty of space left on the device to play with. But using Thunar in xfce I am told that I have only 350Mb free. This is confirmed by the df command and I can see that I have a huge kcore in /proc.
    df
    /dev/sda3 7655940 7267696 388244 95% /

    ll /proc
    -r-------- 1 root root 1065349120 Mar 6 13:08 kcore
Now, I understand that the kcore file is a virtual file that really doesn't affect my available space. But yet, it does affect how eg Thunar operates as it doesn't let me use the gigabytes of free space that I should have available.
I like the simple partition layout that I'm using, but is there some way to let the system ignore kcore and show the correct available space? Or am I forced to reinstall and use another partition scheme and work around the kcore size?
Usually I use ext2/3 but this time I thought I'd try jfs. Can that have something to do with this fenomenon? I have never seen this before...

  • Receiving an automatic notification from Windows Server when disk space is low

    Hello,<o:p></o:p>
Does Windows Server 2012 R2 have any such functionality built-in to enable monitoring of disk space?
We have an old VB Script file that sends me an email when disk space gets low.
Also, the following post discusses the topic regarding Windows Server 2008:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/c9878861-6ba5-4d3b-b6b0-6e4b33c41853/notification-when-low-disk-space?forum=windowsserver2008r2management
I was wondering if there was any change regarding this in
    Windows Server 2012 R2 .
    Many thanks.<o:p></o:p>

    Hi,
Windows Server 2012 stays the same on that topic, you still need some kind of monitoring on your disk space.
If you don't have a monitoring solution, like for example SCOM, you can for example with powershell do what you earlier did in VB script. Either you have a scheduled task that runs as often as you'd like, or you can utilize something called WMI eventing
to trigger on an event 'disk low' but thats a bit more complicated.
See below examples on some example scripts that you could use.

  • I am getting a notice stating that my Iphoto Disk space is low

I am getting a notice stating that my Iphoto Disk space is low, what do I do.

How much availalbe free space on your HD?

  • PLEASE HELP!!! disk space is low message

i received a disk space is low message as i am working in my lightroom 5. i keep clicking ok and it does not let me get out of this screen. it is telling me i need to remove files or empty trash to make space. do i need to make space in lightroom or on my hard drive? please help, i have had this issue before.

25% seems pretty arbitrary and unreasonable.
With today's drive that means on a 2TB drive I need to keep 1/2 TB free. That means I am paying for 2TB with only 1.5 usable just to use LR. In my case where I have four 2TB drive I have to have 2TB free or equivalently have an entire drives worth of space (4*500M) I should not be using.
Even given that was true I get a similar message and it states I do not have at least 20M free on the drive where my catalog is. The drive where my catalog is has 800M+ of a 2TB drive free (exceeding the 25% rule).
And if you are talking about just the "C:" or "root" drive then I have a 250G drive with over 180M free. And neither my catalog or my pictures are on it.
    Still looking for an answer.
It is very annoying to be in the middle of an edit and have the message pop up and stop the edit. Then you have to clear the message, undo the incomplete edit and start over hoping the message does not come back.
    Any additional suggestions?

  • MacBook Pro becomes has spotlight problems when disk space gets low

I've noticed that when my disk space gets very low, that mds starts running all of the time bringing my laptops's performance to a crawl. I've also noticed that oddly, when I try to use spotlight for a full text search (not just from/to/subject searches) in Mail, that spotlight seems to start re-indexing immediately.
    Specifically:
    1) I go to mail and start a search in spotligh
    2) the "message body" option is available for me to search through the entire message body
    3) I select "message body" for my search, but spotlight finds no results (even though there are some)
    4) the next search I do in Mail via spotlight now shows "message body" as greyed out
    5) mds and associated processes suddenly start running and my mac becomes very slow
    6) after some number of hours, mds stops and "message body" becomes available in Mail again for searches, but as soon as I try to use it this process repeats
I had about 10 gigs free on my disk, but after freeing up about 30 gigs this all stopped and spotlight started working again fine.

This emphasises the old guideline of having not more than about 80% of disk space used for best performance on any computer. If in doubt about which hdd to buy get the largest you can afford - probably the next size up from that!

  • Disk space is low in drive

    Dear all,
In our IDES system it is indicating low disk space in SAP installed drive.
In that drive it contains SIDDATA1, SIDDATA2, SIDDATA3 and SIDLOG1 contents.
Our OS is Server2003 and DB is mssql 2000. I had tried shrinking the files in MSSQL level but it is not working for me. Still it is in Low disk space. Is there any way to delete the log files or any data archiving possible.
Is that we can delete the log files in SAP level.
    Kindly guide me .
    Thanks and regards,
    Rakesh

    Dear Rakesh,
First of all, what is the harddisk capacity of the machine in which IDES is installed?
In that drive it contains SIDDATA1, SIDDATA2, SIDDATA3 and SIDLOG1 contents.
Which are the directories which take space? if its SIDDATA1, SIDDATA2, SIDDATA3, you cannot reduce that. But if its SIDLOG1, you can.
Is there any way to delete the log files or any data archiving possible.
You can actually delete the old log files from usr/sap/<SID>/<INSTANCE>/work directory. But thats not going to help much. you can archive the log files through SQL enterprise manager and shrink the log files.
    Hope this helps.

    Jazz

  • Bridge Freezing, Not Displaying Thumbnails, Says Disk Space is Low and to Purge Cache

    Hello,
I'm working in Bridge CS5 on a Mac 0S X version 10.9.2. I have 12 GB of RAM and the server has 240 TB capacity, 76.69 available.
Recently I've received the following error message while processing large photo shoots with both DNG and JPEG files: Bridge is running low on memory. It is recommended that Bridge is restarted.
I have also been manually caching large photo shoots and my cache preferences were set to Keep 100% Preview In Cache and Automatically Export Cache To Folder When Possible. My cache size was set to 500,000.  Yesterday, Bridge started to freeze while attempting to open folders. The wheel would spin at the bottom with the message Compiling Criteria. The only way to close Bridge was a Force Quit. This happened several times.
Today, image thumbnails will no longer display, only the DNG/JPEG icons. I received the following error message:
I have tried restarting Bridge while holding the alt/Option key to reset the preferences and checking all three boxes - no luck. I have done the same thing with the boxes unchecked - no luck.  I have tried manually purging the cache from its location in the library - no luck. I have tried resetting the cache preferences from the toolbar - no luck. I have tried deleting the cache files from the folders - nothing changes. I have tried purging the cache for each folder from the tool bar - nothing happens.
I need to restore the thumbnails and rebuild the cache for each folder. Does anybody have an idea what is wrong or how to help?
    Many Thanks!

Okay, so I have a solution. If after purging the central cache on the server Bridge continues to not perform normally try emptying the trash. I did this and it worked.

  • Lightroom 2 keeps reporting "disk space is low" ... and it's *not* low...

I have a 2.0 terabyte RAID-5 disk array, of which approximately 1.5 TB is free. At periodic intervales, LIghtroom 2 reports "disk which contains your Lightroom catalog, is low on space," and requests that I try to free up 20MB.
    Heeeeeeeelloooo, Lightroom2. 1.5 TB > 20 MB.
What could be causing this? Vista reports 1.5 TB free. So does the RAID controller. Only Lightroom seems to be panicking.

I also experienced the "low space" warning. I was told that it had to do with the amount of free space being a multiple of (or at least ending in a particular number). If Lightroom sees that the free-space figure ends in a particular number, it chokes and gives you the "out of space" error.
To get around this error, I created a temporary folder into which I copied ~100MB of images. This altered the free-space figure just enough that I stopped getting the error. After my next photo import, I deleted the temporary folder.
Hopefully this issue is resolved before I hit another "trigger number".

  • Internal disk space is low

I'm getting this error message on a 1TB time capsule that is connected to an imac with about 700gb on it. I can't find anything that tells me what to do to fix this other than delete everything on the capsule and start again.
I assumed the time machine system would make space by deleting older stuff but this doesn't seem to be the case. Is there any way to set this up?
    Thanks

  • Prevent automatic removal of the Spotlight index due to low disk space

I am guessing that when disk space runs low, it automatically deletes the Spotlight index to make room for virtual memory. Then when space becomes available it reindexes. But I'm not sure about that.
Since my MacBook Air SSD is only 128 GB, I often work with little free disk space and the re-indexing drives me crazy.
I tried to disable Spotlight, remove its index and reindex. Also check filesystem and repair permissions. In diagnostic reports (~/Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports/) nothing about reindexing is mentioned.
You can say that I should control the amount of free space but also should be another way. Disabling Spotlight isn't the option.
    Crosspost: http://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/37321/prevent-automatic-removal-of-the- spotlight-index-due-to-low-disk-space

You can say that I should control the amount of free space .....
    Then I will
See if you have Time Machine Local Backups taking up space, and turn it off with:
         sudo tmutil disablelocal
Also consider turning off hibernate mode
I am guessing that when disk space runs low, it automatically deletes the Spotlight index to make room for virtual memory. Then when space becomes available it reindexes. But I'm not sure about that.
Not sure if that's the case, but low disk space can be causing issues.  What % of your HD is free?

  • Hyper-V: Why difference between "Free Disk Space" and "Inspect Disk" for a VM (Guest OS is Windows 2008, 2008 R2, 2010, 2010 R2)

I am trying to figure out the "Free Disk Space" on a VM on Hyper-V host.
When I see the available space inside the VM, shown by Microsoft OS, it is less than, what is reported by the ‘Inspect Disk’ utility of Hyper-V Manager.
    Why this difference?

    Hi,
Is it the exactly 10% free space when the issue occurs? Please run a chkdsk in CMD on that partition and see the size of available space matches the 10% - I'm thinking if it is actually full when a part of disk space is not calculated.
In my test I created a 9.87GB partition and keep copy a 1GB file on it. Now it only has about 130MB free space but I can still add txt file with small size onto it. So what's the exact message you got?
If it is a warning (but users can still add files onto it), please see if this will help:

  • Finder fails to open when starting up macbook pro due to low disk space (possibly)

    Dear forum,
I have a Macbook Pro (13") running snow leopard and have a partitioned hard drive (half OS X and half Windows 7). This morning I was using the Mac side and was running low on disk space (very low) so I was moving desktop files into folders to free up some space. I restarted the computer to see what the free space was but the computer stopped/froze at the desktop image (no folders or dock appeared. I restarted the computer many times but the finder never opens and all I see is the desktop wallpaper. I donnected usb drives and put in dvds but the finder never appears so I cn do nothing but shut down and start up.
I ran Disk Utility but it found no problems with the disk. I do not have a backup of the important file forlders on my drive and due to low disk space I am worried to reinstall and archive the OS since there may not be enough disk space to archive (only about 220 mb free on the apple side when I am in windows using bootcamp).
Does anyone know what happeded to my machine? Is there such low disk space that finder had an issue? I have started on such low memory before.
What does Archive actually do when reinstalling OS X? Does it make a copy of the HD files and folders or does it simply reinstall the operating system piece by piece while protecting the files and folders that I wish to save?
Thanks for all your help and sorry for the length of the writing (I wanted you to understand all before replying).

    Solved
By chance I got itunes to pop up (running hands over keys blindly) and with it the apple menu icon so I had access to my recently used items and so I could delete images from iphoto and thus bring the free disk space up above zero and then the dock/folders and finder came back....I have just backed up my important files......feeling better now
Any advice on how to more quickly handle this type of issue next time?
    Thanks.
