Disk stuck INSIDE laptop - Pavilion 17-e110dx (F9L87UAR#ABA)

Hello -
I have a Pavilion 17-e110dx (F9L87UAR#ABA), running Windows 8.1. Today I put a DVD into my optical drive, and when I didn't hear it spinning, I ejected the drive, but the disk is now stuck INSIDE my computer....please help!  The drive opens and closes without any problems...where did my disk go?!   How can I safely remove the optical drive in order to get the disk out? I do not want to damage the disk, as it contains irreplaceable pictures.
Also - I purchased this laptop about a month ago, Refurbished, and it is still under warranty.
Thank you!

Thank you very much...it worked! But I do have to tell you that when I pulled out the optical drive, the CD-R was actually inside the computer...not inside the optical drive. Very strange...never had this happen to me before, and I've been using computers for a very long time!
thanks again.

It has to still be inside the optical drive. It is a closed tin can. Flip the laptop on its back, open the service bay and look for a single screw with a DVD drive icon next to it. Remove the screw and the DVD drive should slide out of the chassis with a little push from behind with a flat blade screwdriver. Pages 47-49 in this Manual show how.

Once the drive is out of the chassis you can use the pinhole to open it with a bent-out paperclip. Open it all the way and you should be able to see the disk in there to remove it.

  • MacBook Air. How to eject CD when it stuck inside of Super Slim DVD player?

I'm using MacBook Air with Super Slim USB2.0 (portable DVD player). I inserted a Blu-lay disk in accident and then the disk stuck inside of the player. I can hear motor sound from the player but disk does not come out. I tried to write "drutil eject" on Terminal but did not work. Please help me how to take the disk out of Super drive. Thanks!

Five ways to eject a stuck CD or DVD from the optical drive
Ejecting the stuck disc can usually be done in one of the following ways:
      1. Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the
left mouse button until the disc ejects.
      2. Press the Eject button on your keyboard.
      3. Click on the Eject button in the menubar.
      4. Press COMMAND-E.
      5. If none of the above work try this: Open the Terminal application in
your Utilities folder. At the prompt enter or paste the following:
            /usr/bin/drutil eject
If this fails then try this:
Boot the computer into Single-user Mode. At the prompt enter the same command as used above. To restart the computer enter "reboot" at the prompt without quotes.

    Hi,
Follow the procedure on the link below to create a bootable Ubuntu CD and follow the steps in Part 3 to 'Try it' to see if this OS will run from the CD without the need to install on your HDD.  This will show whether the problem is with Windows or a Hardware problem with the optical drive.

  • Help! Disk stuck in Drive

I was loading some photo's onto a disk and when I went to eject the disk the CD icon turned into a folder with a circle that looks like a radiation warning it also looks just like the "Burn Folder". When you Control left click there is usually an option to eject...its not there. I tried to eject with the button on the keyboard....nothing. Tried turning off the computer, that didn't help either.
Can anyone tell me how I might eject the disk stuck in my drive?
    Thanks

You can get another way also...
On your main hard drive, dig down into System > Library > CoreServices > Menu Extras. Inside that window, double-click on the icon called Eject.menu.

You'll now have an Eject Icon in the Menubar.

  • DVD drive with DVD stuck inside.

I dropped my MacBook with a DVD inside. Now the DVD won't play or eject. How do I eject the DVD from the drive?

It's likely you'll have to get physical. This works but requires a few tries.
Take two playing cards. You'll use these as tweezers essentially. Use fairly stiff high quality ones.
Fish around gently and put one on top of the disk and one on the bottom of the disk.
Once in place keep sweeping in and pulling out as you hit the eject button trying to grab (with friction and sweeping motion) and pull it out. Don't fully remove the cards but keep sweeping in and out. It works on MacBooks and slot loading iMacs.
This is assuming your macbook still makes the eject sound like it's trying to push something out. I've gotten disks out that have had 2 disks stuck in as well as stuck disks from faulty drives.
IVe also also used business cards but playing cards work best.

  • 2 CDs stuck inside

I have 2 CDs stuck inside the CD/DVD drive slot. Do I need to open up the back of the machine and take out the burner to try and get these out? When the computer is on the drive tries to automatically eject but nothing will come out.

    Hello,Welcome to Apple Discussions.
The optical drive is a sealed unit so removing the back of the iMac won't loosen the discs.
Surely one of the disks is protuding from the drive? I can't see how two could fit in a slot loading drive (and I'm not tempted to try too hard to find out).
My feeling is that if you can't pull out either disk, then the only way to do it would be to removed the optical drive from the iMac and try to open the drive enough to free the disk - optical drives are precision bits of kit though and unless you know what you're doing you could very quickly end up with a dead drive.
It may be worth consulting your local AASP.

I understand that your desktop computer is giving you an error message stating that the boot disk could not be detected, and I would be happy to assist you in this matter!
To ensure that your hard drive you computer is trying to boot from is in working order, I recommend following the steps in this document on Testing for Hardware Failures (Windows 8). This should help determine if there is a fault with the hard drive.
If the hard drive passes all of the required tests, I recommend returning the BIOS back to its default settings by following this document on Recovering the BIOS.
Please re-post with the results of your troubleshooting, and I look forward to your reply!

  • Have a new hp laptop pavilion g6 amd,i need an adapter to plug in my sony wireless headphones.

Just purchased HP Laptop Pavilion G6 and Sony Headphones [Wireless],find the plug in adapter will not fit Laptop.
As I live a far distant from my supplier wondered if this a common problem.

I was afraid of that.  When I plugged my older Cinema Display monitor into the thunderbolt port on the new Mac Pro, it worked fine, for two days.  Then it went black screen.  Local Apple Store tells me the old display needs a new LCD panel (over $600!).  I will get an older display that should work with the older Mac Pro and go from there. Thanks forgetting back to me!

  • My lock button is stuck inside my iPod touch.

Whats wrong with it and How much will it be to get it fixed?
I have an iPod touch, 4th generation.
I got my iPod about a year and a half ago, but I've only used it for a year. About a month ago, after dance I had grabbed my iPod and tryed to unlock it but it wouldn't unlock. Before I pressed it to unlock it, it was very loose. After I pressed it, it got stuck inside and its still a little loose but it wouldn't come out. So I pressed the home button to unlock it and I've been doing that ever since. I have to let my iPod automatically lock, because of the button not being able to work. I'm just tired of waiting and not being able to lock my iPod. I was wondering if anyone has an idea of how much it will cost to get this problem fixed without the warranty (I never got to set it up)
Please if you know how much, let me know. Thank you.

I would make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple stoe.  Maybe they can free the button.  If not, Apple will only exchange it for a refurbished one for $99, $149 or $199 depending upon the capacity.
