Disk Tracker files are no more opened

Hi,
After installing 10.4.2 in one of our new G5s, we are not able to open our disk tracker files which is created with Disk tracker 2.2.2. But we are able open them in panther. The icons of those files are shown as terminal files (unix). Though I changed the option "open with" to disk tracker application, none of them are shown in disk tracker. Can any one solve this?. Since we have thousands of disk tracker files which are used for searching our old files, we badly need to solve this.

I did contact Portents and they told me to try with Disk Tracker 2.3.2 but still no luck.The icons of the old disktracker files are still shown as terminal files in the 10.4.2 OS.I can read them all in panther with Disk tracker 2.2.2. So I guess the 10.4.2 is the culrpit not the disk tracker.
I do not get any error message as such, rather the files are not opened.

PNG files are grainy when opened in Illustrator.

Files that I create in Photoshop and save as PNG files are grainy and colored incorrectly when opened in Illustrator. The files are fine when opened in other programs. Please see the pictures below to illustrate my point. These are the same file, however, the first is the PNG file that I've saved in Photoshop and the second is how Illustrator renders the file.

It is PNG 24. It's super bizarre. I originally thought it was because the file began as a RAW file, but any file I export as a PNG gives me the same issue when opened in illustrator.

My tpl file are no longer opening with TextEdit but with Stickies...Why?

The strangest thing just happened and it must be a coincidence or some sort of glitch. I recently tried an LCD monitor on my Mac (which incidentally I just found out first hand why NOT to buy inexpensive LCD monitors). I disconnected it, hooked up my Sony CRT again and restarted. Everything seemed fine but when I tried to open some files with the .tpl extension they opened Stickies but did not even display any text.
A while ago I had gone to the Get Info of a tpl file and set all files with this extension to open using TextEdit. Until now that has always worked fine. When I try to do the same thing again it keeps reverting back to Stickies as the default. I am able to change an individual tpl file but can not make the global change. I dumped my finder preferences but that did not help.
Does anyone know how to set this or how to correct the glitch that is not allowing me to make this change?

Here is an interesting twist. Before I do as you suggest let me throw this out to you.
The tpl files are part of a php forum package. I have a clean copy of the forum so I can reference it and I work off a copy. I decided to take a look at the tpl files in the original folder. Not only are they all showing TextEdit as the app to open with but they are showing TextEdit in the list with (default) next to it.
When I look in the folder that contains the copy, which I am working with and editing, those files show Stickies (default) and do not show TextEdit in the list. I took a look around my drive for other rograms that also use tpl files and they were all fine. So for some reason it would seem that the problem is just inside the one templates folder and nowhere else. I was able to select all the tpl files, then control click and select Open With..., selected TextEdit, closed the Get Info window and all the tple files in the folder were changed. When I go back or restart and look they keep this setting even though TextEdit is not listed as a recommended or default app.
So even though this is working and I can open my files I am bothered by this and the fact that the same file type (same extension) presents a different list and handles this differently from other files of the same type in another location.
Does this make sense? Ever see this happen before? Even though I was able to make the change do you still recommend that I reset the LaunchServices database and re-install the COMBO update?

Pc recognizes air disk but files are not visible

i have an airport extreme and an express and after three days of fiddling almost everything is working. but on the pc i can open the air disk. in the info box the pc sees itincorrectly as a phat 32 disk even though it is hfs+. i am able to mount and open it but when it opens there are no files visible. if i plug the drive directly into the pc its all good. through the extreme network - cant see the files.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:

Project HTM Files are Blurry when opened in Web Browser

Hello, I'm hoping someone on this discussion board can help me!
I have created a video project for work in Adobe Captivate 6 and have published it. I now need to upload this video project onto our company's website.
In short, here is my problem: When I open the HTM file for my video project from the original file source, it appears normal. However, once I wrote a path to the HTM file in our website's HTML code and went to open the page in my internet browser (I've been using Firefox) the video appears blurry.
How can this be? Clearly the quality of the HTM file is fine, since it was not blurry when I opened it from the original file source. Can anyone think of a reason why it is blurry when opened in an internet browser? I know this sometimes can happen with the SWF files because internet browsers can alter their dimensions, but I thought using HTM files was supposed to help in avoiding these sorts of problems.

Disk image files are invisible?

I just started trying to use the disk image to drag some files into, and create an encrypted disk image drive to drag back into my flash drive. I tried it and when I open the disl image, it shows nothing in there. Plus, I just realized that I guess that .dmg file won't open on my PC at work. Dumb question?

Not cerin what is up with your DMGs, but since a PC is involved we can skip that as you've guessed.
The way to do it is to select a File, or a Folder if you choose, in the Finder, then Right Click, choose Compress or Archive, the whole thing will be stuffed into a .zip file which the PC can handle!

My 2006 iMac running Snow Leopard won't boot even after erasing and re-installing Snow Leopard (via my MacBookPro), either from the HD or DVD drive. Can't get it to run Hardware Test. Disk Utility says disk OK - files are there. What can I do?

My 2006 iMac running Snow Leopard won't boot even after erasing and re-installing Snow Leopard. I erased and re-installed by putting the iMac in Target Disk mode and usin my MacBookPro as the host. But after numerous attempts I still can't get it to boot either from the HD or DVD drive. I just get the white screen after the wheel stops spinning. I can't get it to run Hardware Test - just get the white screen. If I use Disk Utility via my MBP it says the disk appears OK. All the Snow Leopad files appear to have been installed. What can I do?

Perhaps you installed the wrong version OS X onto the iMac, you can't use the disk from another Mac.
clean the disk.
If it's not working then use this method to create a bootable 10.6 USB from the iMac machine specific 10.6 disk or the 10.6.3 retail disk on your other Mac, use it to boot the iMac with.

.php files are not being opened within Mozilla FF

Well, I'm learning PHP, and, although a file whose code is illustrated at www.w3schools.com, is being displayed within Adobe Dreamweaver, it does not seem possible to open the same file within the browsers installed on my pc, including Mozilla FF. It seems that this problem was noted by other people in the past however, I came across no solution.

Sorry I think the problem is simply that Adobe Dreamweaver is the default .php file viewer.

When downloading and opening a file through Firefox 5 on a Windows 7 machine, files are downloading and opening as read-only.

I am trying to download an attachment from gMail. When I select download, I can open or save as the document. If I select "open", it opens the file, but makes it read only.
If I do this exact action in IE8, it opens the document normally.

Unfortunately, I have not found a solution for this problem yet.
But I did find out, that Safari only crashes, when I choose a "custom" location to save the file at. When I simply click on Download to "Safari Downloads", it keeps working perfectly.
So it seems to be a problem with the choosing of a file location.
Does this give anyone an idea what else I could try?

Waveburner; a few Questions regarding track files and Session Data

After a bit of negotiating, I'm almost ready to burn. Was having problems with file locations and discovered that i had multiple files in different locations. Those have been eliminated and all relative track files are in one place now with the Song Data File as well.
I then re-imported the individual aif tracks only to find that all of my fades and edits are GONE. It appears that I may have to DO THEM ALL OVER AGAIN! Please tell me that there is a work around.
Is it possible to import only the Session Data related to the fades and edits(everything but the actual audio files), so as to avoid all this "do-again" work?
I was also wonder if it is necessary, or perhaps a good idea, to change the File INFO for each of the individual audio track files from "OpenWith" iTunes (default setting) to "Open With": WAVEBURNER ?. (selectable on the aiff files, "Show More Info" window
Currently the aif files are set to "OpenWith" iTunes (default)
One last question please.
Is Waveburner really up to snuff? How many people are using this for Mastering and Burning CD's? I'm about to start inserting some AU Mastering Plug Ins and I'm hoping for the best. Any other suggestions are greatly appreciated.

When i open the project file(.wb3),
The prompt says;
"Please choose a replacement from the list below:"

As you can see the files are in the trash.
The first problem is that there are no actual files in the trash. Just an icon of a CD Disc which was dragged there to eject it, It is no longer in the disc drive/tray. Perhaps i should put the disc back in the drive and then update/replace the files afterwords. (The CD is scratched.)
The strange thing is that i can still preview the track that's in the trash by selecting More Info and playing it on the little Quicktime player bar. I guess the file is in a cache somewhere?
I've looked everywhere on all drives for the specific files but can not find them anywhere.
In the Replacement prompt there is a place that I can check to "Search in the same folder for subsequent files" button on the "Replacement" prompt.
which "same folder" is it refering to?
The Trash folder where the old files are or the Folder where the actual .wb3 project file is? I do have all of the correctly named song files/regions in the same folder with the project file.

Song Files are missing?

i downloaded the version of i tunes 7.5 and now when i try and play my songs they have a little exclamation point next to them and it says something like; "could not locate this file would u like to locate it?" i click yes and it takes me to My Music folder. When I click on the folder that holds the folders with my songs that i bought in them nothing appears. I bought a new song on i-tunes as a test and it plays fine. Did something go wrong in the download? I tried dowloading it again and nothing changed. I am afraid to completely unistall I-Tunes because it might get rid of all my songs, i don't know what will happern when i plug in my i-pod nano (newest edition). I am afraid it will sync and delete all my songs on it.

SOunds like your iTunes Library.itl file got corrupted. iTunes doesn't know where the actual song files are, any more.

Illustrator CS6 crashes when 40 or more files are open at the same time

Windows 7 SP1, Illustrator CS6
The end users spends 7 hours of their 8 hours in Illustrator. As part of the job, they have to have over 40 different files open at the same time because they are working on several jobs at the same time as well as working forward. So the answer is not "they have to close some files". This, unfortunately, is not an option.
We recently upgraded them to CS6. They said that version CS5 was fine and didn't crash like this. But Illustrator CS6 crashes on them, closes itself, and obviously they lose all unsaved changes (saving the changes isn't a choice either, because the files are shared and have to stay original).
The only modification we've done to the program is to UNcheck "Append" in the preferences.
This happens on all 3 computers for all 3 users, so I don't believe it to be end-user related.
Does anyone out there know of a way to get Illustrator to stop crashing?
Is there a specific limit on the number of files that can be open?

No, they aren't working on the same files. All 3 employees are working on different files.
They are all on Dell Optiplex GX745 with 4 Gb of RAM.
The crashes are at different times, not all 3 crashing at the same time. Therefore, I don't believe network is the cause of the issues. Also, it didn't crash on CS5, but now it does on CS6.
What I'm looking for are possible settings within Illustrator CS6 that I can tweak to make it a more stable program.
