Disk Utility-Warning: SUID file
Every time I run Disk Utility it repairs a few items then give this warning:
Warning: SUID file "System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/ARDAg ent" has been modified and will not be repaired."
Any ideas?
Ok I have the same suid message no concern there. But having added and additional hard drive to my G5 and modified permissions running disk utility gives the following:-
Repairing permissions for “Leopard”
Warning: SUID file "usr/libexec/load_hdi" has been modified and will not be repaired.
Warning: SUID file "System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/DiskManagement.framework/Versions/A/Resources /DiskManagementTool" has been modified and will not be repaired.
Warning: SUID file "System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/DesktopServicesPriv.framework/Versions/A/Reso urces/Locum" has been modified and will not be repaired.
Warning: SUID file "System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Install.framework/Versions/A/Resources/runner " has been modified and will not be repaired.
Warning: SUID file "System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Admin.framework/Versions/A/Resources/readconf ig" has been modified and will not be repaired.
Warning: SUID file "System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Admin.framework/Versions/A/Resources/writecon fig" has been modified and will not be repaired.
Warning: SUID file "usr/libexec/authopen" has been modified and will not be repaired.

Warning: SUID file "System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/ARDAg ent" has been modified and will not be repaired.
So I guess my question is do I ignore these too, are they nothing to worry about.? I hope apple gets around to updating disk utility to fix this issue then there wont be so many posts on the topic...
Thanks
Alan

Warning sign with Repair Disk Permission" Warning: SUID file..."
When I run Repair disk permission from Disk Utility I get these messages with warning. Why do I get them, and how do I fix them?
1. Warning: SUID file "System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/DesktopServicesPriv.framework/Versions/A/Reso urces/Locum" has been modified and will not be repaired.
2. Warning: SUID file "System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/ARDAg ent" has been modified and will not be repaired.how do I fix them?
You don't - they are harmless.
Why do I get them
Apple has this to say about that:

You did the right thing by asking first - good luck with Snow Leopard. -
Disk utility says "suid file has been modified and will not be repaired"?
when i run disk utilities and repair permissions i get this message.... warning: SUID file "system/library/core services/remote management/ARDAgent.app/contents/MacOS/ARDAgent" has been modified and will not be repaired. what does this mean? i just upgraded to snow leopard and when i try and launch skype it crashes every time... before it even opens... i have installed the latest version and still the same.... can anyone please help me/
it works on my laptop with snow leopard and my reg user name... but with my desktop when i try and launch it i get the skype user agreement screen... i answer "i agree"... then sometimes i get as far as my apple keychain and if i get that far i answer "always allow"... then it crashes?

I saw this message when I was doing a Repair Disk Permissions-
Warning: SUID file "usr/bin/quota" has been modified and will not be repaired.
Is this something I should be concerned about?I was booted into my VERY clean and fully updated 10.5.7 install last night, and just for kicks ran Repair Permissions. For comparison purposes, in my "working" system, which is still at 10.5.5, and where I have not run a fair number of other updates either, here's the total number of advisories in Repair Permissions:
Permissions differ on "private/var/log/secure.log", should be -rw------- , they are -rw-r----- .
Permissions differ on "Library/QuickLook/iWork.qlgenerator/Contents/CodeResources", should be -rw-rw-r-- , they are lrw-rw-r-- .
Group differs on "private/etc/cups", should be 0, group is 26.
Permissions differ on "private/var/spool/cups/cache/rss", should be drwxr-xr-x , they are drwxrwxr-x .
In 10.5.7 the situation is quite different: there are a raft of notices about files having been replaced with a symbolic link in Front Row, iTunes, the Media Browser, and iPhotoAccess. These are all the result of Apple's most recent Media updaters.
There are also new SUID notices:
Warning: SUID file "System/Library/Filesystems/AppleShare/afpLoad" has been modified and will not be repaired.
Warning: SUID file "System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/DiskManagement.framework/Versions/A/Resources /DiskManagementTool" has been modified and will not be repaired.
Warning: SUID file "sbin/umount" has been modified and will not be repaired.
Warning: SUID file "bin/rcp" has been modified and will not be repaired.
Warning: SUID file "usr/bin/quota" has been modified and will not be repaired.
Warning: SUID file "usr/bin/rlogin" has been modified and will not be repaired.
Warning: SUID file "usr/bin/rsh" has been modified and will not be repaired.
These strike me a bit peculiar since the SUID bit is set on ALL those in 10.5.5, where Repair Permissions makes no comment about it, and there has been no change at all....except evidently the database used by Repair Permissions no longer seems aware of the files' status.
Finally, both sets of Repairs complain about the group admin having read access to the secure.log file. I can't imagine why.

I get this message when I run Disk Permissions:
Warning: SUID file "System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/ MacOS/ARDAgent" has been modified and will not be repaired.
Started after installing Snow Leopard. Still coming up after installing updates. Anyone have any idea what this means? Or if I need to do something about it?Anyone have any idea what this means?
It means you have the current Apple Remote Desktop version installed. Nothing needs to be done.

Warning SUID file message in disk util ???
Hi all Just got my Imac today Before I did anything I did a repair perm after doing the updates to the software and I am geting the message Warning SUID file "System/Library/Coreservices/Remotemanagement/ARDAgentapp/Contents/MacOS/ARDAge nt "has been modified and will not be repaired
True I Dont need to do so many (so to speak) But I use my system mainly for audio production and I always have some new update, plug-in, or this or that I am doing to my system. And In all fear and respect for the ghost bugs computers sometimes get, , I always do repair perm after any update or maintenance, and , so far, knock on wood, My systems for the past 5 years have been trouble free

Warning: SUID file “System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/ARDAg ent” has been modified and will not be repaired. When I repaired "disk permission", this message was what came up. What does this mean, and how can I fix it?
The opperating system I am using is 10.7.4, and updating to the latest version currently. Computer is running fine, except that when I did some utility repairs, I got the warning above, and not really sure what do, in regards to repairing it correctly, not just getting the message off of my computer.
Thank you for your help, and please only contribute if you know about this issue please. That's a status message which can be safely ignored.

Reinstall Lion, Mountain Lion, or Mavericks without erasing drive
Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
Reinstall Mountain Lion or Mavericks
OS X Mavericks- Reinstall OS X
OS X Mountain Lion- Reinstall OS X
OS X Lion- Reinstall Mac OS X
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet
if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
