Two places you need to check: EventViewer (Application and System logs) and the SAP Management Console (MMC).
Event Viewer can provide useful information and it may help you pinpoint where the problem resides. The SAP MMC gives you the ability to visually see the system status (green, yellow or red lights), view the work processes status and view the developer traces, which are stored in the "work" directory. Example: /usr/sap/TST/DVEBMGS00/work
and
Dispatcher Monitor (DPMON.exe), which is located under /usr/sap//sys/exe/run. Database logs

When you see a beachball cursor or the slowness is especially bad, note the exact time: hour, minute, second.
These instructions must be carried out as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
          SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select

Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Scroll back to the time you noted above.

Disp+work.exe stopped after Kernel upgrade

Hi
I have put a new 700 unicode kernel 236 SAPEXE/SAPEXEDB and DW patch 258 lib_dbsl 256 onto the V6R1 database server. This worked fine and the instance starts up including DISPATCHER and SERVER0.
Next step was to update the kernel on the Windows application server, again to same level with igsexe 17 and sapwebdisp 258.
When I start the Windows instance, the sapcpe,exe executable copy completes, (no errors in sapcpe.log in the work directory), then the disp+work.exe tries to start and fails. It briefly shows "running but not connected to message server' then goes to Stopped. However the igswd.EXE goes green status Running.
The only error I can find in the work directory is in the stderr1 file which has the following messages- (the developer trace for disp+work last message was 10 hours ago when running on old kernel level).
Any advice? Tried search of sap notes but no result. I have tried a reboot of the Windows Server 2003 x 64 machine, still same error.

If you switch back to the old kernel, does that work?
The system tries to allocate shared memory and fails. Did you install any security patches on the Windows box or did you change/fiddle with the users?

Web Query (.iqy) not working in Excel after upgrade to 11.1.1.6

After upgrade 11.1.1.5 to 11.1.1.6, the Web Query (.iqy) does not work. After open the .iqy file in Excel, entered the user and password, it only pulls in "PK" in one cell, instead of the expected analysis report. This was working in 11.1.1.5 before upgrade.
Does anyone know how to correct this issue? Is this a bug in 11.1.1.6, or required some new configuration settings?

CMD+ any shortcut doesn't work in Safari after upgrading to Yosemite

After upgrading from Mavericks to OS X Yosemite 10.10 not a single CMD+ shortcut works?!
For example CMD+tab works (switching between apps), ctrl+tab works (switching between tabs), but none of these work: CMD+W, CMD+Q, CMD+F, CMD+C, CMD+X, CMD+P...
They all work perfectly fine in all other apps. It's just Safari.
Does anyone have any idea why and how to fix this?

I have a similar pb :
CMD+SHIFT+1,2,3,... doesn't work in safari.
I'm using "English interface" with "French keyboard".
following miladc advice and link (Shortcuts not working on Safari and Firefox),
I changed my Language pref to French ... so I got "French interface" with "French keyboard" ... and it worked once !!!!

Disp+Work.exe stop after 1 minute

Hi Experts,
                  I am doing the DR setup for production server. Created standby database successfully. Then I shutdown primary database and activate the secodry database to primary database adn chage the profile configration and start the SAP instance, Desp+work.exe down after 1 minute and ABAP WP table is giving error.

Exchange server doesn't work at all after upgrade to 8.1.1

Hi there,
Upgraded to 8.1.1 yesterday and ever since getting mail from an Exchange server (not GMail as exchange, real exchange) doesn't work.
I have tried removing account and re-adding it again, it authenticates, all is dandy, but it never pulls the folders list or the mail at all.
Refreshing says "Updated just now", and then zilch, nothing, nada.
Can someone please help?

PS. I tried resetting, wifi/3g, push vs fetch, all the standard knobs and whistles - nothing helps.

I just got my emails again, not sure what did the magic, but this is what I did:
- Downloaded my enterprise certificates (device provisioining) - Maybe you don't have to do this step.
- Reset the iPAD (press power button and menu button until you see apple logo -> this doesn't erase data on the iPAD)
- Deleted the exchange account
- Created the exchange account - at this time the iPAD could confirm credentials
After a couple of minutes emails started coming again!
Btw, I had this issue after upgrading to iOS 8.1.1.

After upgrading to Mountain Lion, I'm no longer able to use Google Talk with the new Messages App. It worked fine on iChat, but now I cannot enable the account. When I try to check the enable box, it immediately unchecks itself and nothing happens. Any suggestions?

Send button not working on sms after upgrade

My send is no longer working on sms after i upgraded. I have done factory setting and still not working . Any ideas of anything else i can try ? frustrated

There's no way a software update causes a hardware issue. This is just coincidental. Bring your phone to Apple for evaluation and possible replacement.

BINARY SEARCH does not work as before after upgrade

We recently upgraded from HRSP 26 to HRSP 40 as well as similar upgrades in non-HR areas on our ECC 6.04 system. We've been in SAP since 1998, and have a lot of old custom programs which were written when we were still new at ABAP. In a few, we put records into an internal table sorted the table, maybe added a few more records to the table, and did a READ BINARY SEARCH. Granted, this is not correct, adding records to a table after it is sorted. But these programs have worked for more than 10 years and now, since our upgrade, the READ BINARY SEARCH does not always find a record where it did before the upgrade.
So this is mostly just a heads-up. If you are missing data in reports after upgrading, this might be the issue. Also I am wondering if anyone has experienced this.

Hi Janice,
you did not give any context. Please note that it is a popular error to think that a SELECT statement will fetch data in order of the primary key of the table - although it happens quite frequently. So always first sort, then binary search.
Probably not related to upgrade.

Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

Disp+work.exe stops after 1.13m

Hi i did the refresh of the database...well i did it on the dirty way where I copied ans renames the data ans log file. i had all SAP services down as wel as SQL ones...For some reason R/3 wond come back up with disp+work.exe goes back down after turning green?

look at sap note Note 551915 - R/3 won't start after database restore or database copy
read it carefully
QA9 is your sap sid,
in your case system running with database user 'dbo'. which is wrong
All the tables in such systems belong to user 'sid' (the system ID in
lower case, in your case it is qa9).
change the owner of database, download the file user_restore.zip which is attached to note 551915 unzip it and run the query according to note,
further more also look at sap Note 151603 - Copying an SQL Server database which is helpful to copy sap database on sql server ( homogeneous system copy)
