Dispatch event from the main App file

Hi,I have one simple question.I know how to dipatch events from the some of the components files to the main App file,but I don't know how to do the opposite?
I have an HTTPService with id = "getData" in some component file and I want to dispatch an event that will send it getData.send();
Is this possible,and it if is how?

It is possible but not a recommended practice.
Worst case you proxy out methods on your components and call directly:

My 2 cents are too look into MVC architecture and have the service inside a command which gets treiggered by a controlled which reacts to your event dispatched by the view.

I can't seem to remove / unload the external swf files e.g when the carousel.swf (portfolio) is displayed and I press the about button the about content is overlapping the carousel (portfolio) . Thank you for the helpful advice. I made the changes as you suggested but I am receiving a #1009 error message even though my site is working the way I wan it to work. I would still like to fix the errors so that my site runs and error free. This is the error I am receiving:
"TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference."
I'm sure this is not the best method to unload loaders and I am guessing this is why I am receiving the following error message.

I also tried creating a function to unload the loader but received the same error message and my portfolio swf was not showing at all.

Best Practice in regards to adding showing SkinnablePopUp from the Main application file of Mobile A

Hello,
I want to display a SkinnablePopUp when the user presses the back key when the current view is the first view to ask if he wants to quit.
The logic (checking if the key pressed was the back key && the current view is the first view) is in the main application file and if those two conditions are true then the exit() method is called.
I want to show the confirmation popup. Should I move all that in the first view mxml component or is it OK to instantiate the SkinnablePopUp in the main app file?

My application won't open, even from the original app file. I don't even get an error message. What can I do?

I have lightroom 5.7 x64bit. I've had the most recent upgrade for over a year. I had to shut my computer off, so I closed out of LR and now the applicaton will not start. I've tried opening it from shortcut, from point of origin file. the window churns then stops, no error message--nothing. Help

Have you considered solutions that don't involve event handlers available to AS3.
If I understand correctly you are trying to:
1. Control buttons that exist in your main .swf file
2. Control the visibility of those buttons from a child .swf called into existence from the main .swf file
You could control this completely from the child .swf by setting a variable for your parent .swf
In your child .swf creat a variable that contains the parent movieclip:
var myParentClip:MovieClip = MovieClip(parent.parent);
Now control your buttons with the appropriate command from your child
myParentClip.buttonName.visible = true;
myParentClip.buttonName.visible = false;
Total control from your child .swf

App Signing Error, Number of Folios Does Not Match the Main Folio File

I have a 250 page standalone app that I am trying to compile for the Apple Store. I read through the forums and enabled "AppBuilderLoggingEnabled.cfg" in my user directory to capture the issue. Here is the snippet of the log that was created that, to me, shows why the app isn't being signed.

I've stripped out special characters from the article titles and re-built the app only to face the same error. I went ahead and created a new AppID in the Apple Developer Portal, created new provision files, and the error remains. I am now creating a new folio and importing the articles into the new folio to see if that will solve the "number of folios does not match" issue.
Any help or insight would be amazing. Thank you all.

I created a new folio and imported all of the articles again. After hitting "Create App" for this new folio, at about 10 pages in a "PDF Export" error stopped the create app process. I went into InDesign to update the layout for the 10th page to see that the PDF export issue was stopping me from updating the layouts as well. Something in the InDesign file wasn't playing nice with the folio creation, so I created two new InDesign files, deleted the article, and built a new article from scratch. I was able to import the new layouts as a new article to the main folio and hit "Create App" again. This time there were no issues with the creation process. I synched up the provision files in App Builder and was able to code sign the application.
I guess the moral of the story is to double and even triple check every article along the way to make sure there are no issues being introduced into the process that will ultimately cause headaches during the distribution phase of app creation!

I use org.osmf.vast.mediaVAST2TrackingProxyElement from the VASTLibrary for display advertising and use click to handle advertisement redirection.
It's works for flash.media.Video.
But after setting OSMFSettings.enableStageVideo = true, the click event from the MediaContainer is not dispatch.
Can you please help?

Actually, I looked briefly at the dev guide this week end, and Stage Video actually renders from the GPU under the Actionscript App.
It could be something like this:
Stage video is behind the Actionscript objects and one of them is as big or bigger than the video rendering rectangle and it is grabbing mouse interaction.
Just speculating.
Also, I'm not certain StageVideo can recieve mouse events...

How do I attach multiple files from the pages app to my email

I'm trying to attach multiple documents from the "Pages" app to my email. I'm using an ipad. It is only letting me attach one at a time and send each document as individual emails. I would like to be able to send one email with all 4 documents at the same time. Any suggestions?
Another thought- When I go to my gmail app to compose an email, I have the following to send:

But there is not a paperclip to click to attach any documents either. Is this all connected and something in my ipad settings needs to be adjusted?

You can only attach one file at a time to email in the Pages app
You cannot attach files in the mail app. If you want to email a file, you do it from within the app where the file is saved such as what you did with Pages.

How do I call a component from a the main.mxml file?

It won't see it just by creating the namespace that contains it. There has to actually be an instance of it in the application. So in your case, your main application file (lets call it MyApp.mxml) would look something like this:

     <components:GetComponent id="getComp"/>
</mx:Application>
Then, you can reach down (mind you this isn't best practice) into those components to access their public properties. In a script block in MyApp.mxml, you could access the VBox with getComp.vbTB.
I don't know the ins and outs of your application, but perhaps Main is the main application, so then you would add GetComponent as a child of it instead of both Main and GetComponent being child components of the MyApp application. Does that clear up the confusion?

You can change the settings in Security & Privacy to "Anywhere"...
That should work... as to whether the printer driver will work, that's another question.

Under the first heading 'LIBRARY' appear the items Library, Music, Movies, iTunes U, Books, Apps and Ringtones. I'd like to remove the item "Library" from that list - it appears immediately after the heading "LIBRARY" and serves no purpose whatsoever. (Neither does it appear to cause any harm, I must say, just a nuisance.) This item does not appear in any of the iTunes viewing options or controls lists. Neither does it appear in iTunes in the other accounts on my Mac and I have yet to see it any other iTunes on any other Mac.
I've upgraded since about iTunes 8 assuming the problem would eventually disappear through the upgrades but it hasn’t, even through all the providedupgrade increments available for iTunes.
I'm assuming it's from something I've installed in my main user account at some stage and it entered this item in the iTunes app. But I can't see how to remove it. The only things I can remember installing are "iTunes Batch Column Renamer" and "Join Together", both if which are just Scripts and which I use fairly regularly, but I don't recall either of them installing that particular item.
Is there any folder I can navigate to to edit the list of items in that main left hand column of iTunes?

on second thought, that you have an item "library" is indeed odd - there shouldn't be.
suggest you try removing iTunes completely (click here and follow the instructions), then reinstall it using the standalone installer from here: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/.
note this will not do anything to your media files, playlists, ratings, etc.
btw, you didn't install any 3rd party tools like this script:
