Dear Satish & Shalini Chauhan
I am also facing same problem.
We have Varaint configuration products in ECC. For this we created Knowledge base object and runtimer version in ECC.
This KB are downlaoded sucessfully in CRM using the 'SCE' object. Again we download the 'Material' object.
Product are replicated sucessfully (COMMPR01) but there is no entries in tab Configuration and Varints.
Please guide me any further settings are required to view the product variants entires in tab Configuration.

    Hi
We need to create a configurable material in R/3 the same has to replicated to CRM using middleware.
In short we require to do the following.
The SAP tasks for setting up a new KMAT are outlined:
    Routings
    Smart Table
    MVC changes
    MVX changes
    ISA
    Create KMAT
    Create Class
    Create Characteristics
Create Configuration Profile & add procedures
    Create Super BOM
    Create Pricing rules

  • Please  send about the variant configuration

    Hi
please  send about the variant configuration

    Steps for SD Variant Configuration
Some light on Variant Configuration in Detail.
    The procedure is as follows:
Create a Material - KMAT type with Item category (002)
Create Charateristics in CT04 - Zbike, where in values mention the Color of the bile like Red, Blue etc
Create another characteristics in CT04 - ZPrice, where directly go the additional data tab and maintain the table SDCOM and field VKOND (ABAP Dictionary it will ask for)
Assign these two characteristics to a Class in CL01 - ZBikeclass ( Type 300) in characteristics tab page.
Then go to CU41 Configuration profile select the material and enter the description click on the class assignment ie assign Zbikclass.
Now go back to CT04 - enter Zbike -go to values- select Red- go to extras - Other Dependencies - Select Procedure enter in front 10 write - $self.ZPrice='Red' and save
Now go back go to extras - Other Dependencies - assignments and assign relationship ( by default it will come just save)
Now select Blue- go to extras - Other Dependencies - Editor - Select Procedure enter in front of 10 write - $self.ZPrice='Blue' and save
Now go back go to extras - Other Dependencies - assignments and assign relationship ( by default it will come just save)
Now go to VK11 - Enter VA00 (Condition)(For Std RVA001 Pricing Procedure) - enter variant Red and Blue give the rates accordingly and create the sales order.

  • Why don't  we do the confirmation in variant configuration?

    Hello guys,
As far as i know that in variant configuration we don't do the confirmation, we directly do the goods receipt. Is it right? If yes than why?
Following are the steps we  do while doing the variant configuration scenario:
1)First we create the characteristics and give the values inside it.
2)Then we create the class of class type 200 and give characteristics defined in it.
3)Then we create the variant of class type 300 and give all the characteristics inside it.
4)Now we create the configurable material with Basic data 1,2, MRP 1,2,3,4 , Classification view ,workscheduling view.
In classification view, we give the variant of class type 300.So it shows all the characteristics and its value over there. There we select all the values.
5)Now we create the super bom of configurable material and in class tab we give all the classes of class type 200.Here even we can maintain the dependencies if we define all the characteristics value in item tab.
6)Then we create the super routing and inside it we give all the possible operations inside it.Right now my routing contains operations  which are necessary all the times.
7)Then we create the configurable profile for configurable material of class type 300.
8)Now we give the requirement in md81 for configurable material and there we select the characteristics values which we want.
9)After that we run the mrp for configurable material and it generates procurement proposals(planned order) for it.
    10) Afer this we convert this planned order into production order and release it and save it.
    11) After this we do the goods receipt for the production order in mb31.Because of this it shows the stock of sales order as production order qty.
This procedure my tutor has taught me.Have i missed any steps or am i wrong somewhere? If that the case than plz guide me.

if you can generate a production order then you can always confirm it according to SAP PP logic.
we use variant configuration for the manufacturing of complex products. once the component quantities and
operation are selected for a particular variant and copied to Production order, the rest of the process is same
as normal Production Control. Revert back with any queries you have.

  • Wants to know the practical steps in Variant Configuration process.

    Dear Experts,
I want to know the practical steps being performed under the variant configuration process being followed under textile industry or a pharmaceutical industry. Can anybody please help me out of this issue?

    Dear Santosh,
I think you are aware Variant config. is used to configure the material according to the requirement of the customer at the time of processing the sale order. But to my knowledge of pharma business the material will be produced in advance and there will be lot of planning associated to increase the business, and there will be different combinations and strengths available at the disposal, there will not be any make to order scenario.Since it is an ongoing process. It will be like the number of end users of that particular product in the market(here end users will be the patients to whom the medicine has been prescribed).I hope this will be of some help to you.If am wrong pls correct me.
    Regards,
    Ramesh.

  • Variant configuration u2013 availability check for Configurable material

    Hi Guys,
We are doing the variant configuration scenario for one of our client. We are using planning strategy as 25 (sales order with variant configuration).
When we configure the Configurable material at sales order level, we wanted to check the availability check of Configurable for the combination of selected characteristics.
How we can configure it in the system.
    Regards,
    Shailendra

    Hi,
availability check will work as per the checking group you had defined in system.
additionaly you need to put tick in configuration profile for availability check.
checking for material varient is optional, if your bussiness has materail varients you can activate type matching and while configuring the sales order if the values of charactersticks matches system will suggest you the the appropiate varient and you can replace your configurable material in sales order with it.
    hope it will help you.
If you need some more information please explain what exactly your are expecting from system during availability check.
    Regards
    Ritesh

  • Save variant configuration data with BAPI or FM

    Hi experts,
I created a PP production order by using a configured material.
I can see internal object number in table AFPO-CUOBJ.
I'd like to change and save a value of characteristics by using ABAP.
Could you tell me it if there is a BAPI or FM to save values of characteristics in variant configuraion?
    BR,

you can chnage the variant configuration data using below bapi with strcture    order_cfgs_value      =
    CALL FUNCTION 'BAPI_SALESORDER_CHANGE'
        EXPORTING
          salesdocument
          order_header_in       =
          order_header_inx      =
           TABLES
          return                = return_lt
          order_item_in         =
          order_item_inx        =
          partners              =
          partnerchanges        =
          partneraddresses      =
          order_cfgs_ref        =

  • Variant Configuration including Bitmap

    Hi there,
we using often small bitmaps to show the customers a hint to the selected articles. The output of SD Order  are sapscript forms and we solve this  with include of an Bitmap in sapscript article description.
Now i try to include such a bitmap in a variant configuration.  If the user select a value 1 of a Characteristic ist should print bitmap xx, if the user select value 2 of a Characteristic ist should print bitmap yy and so on.
Is anyone who had solve such a problem or know how could i realize this in sapscript.
Is there a possibility to define a variable in the characteristics value or in the maintaining dependencies of  a value?
While processing the variant configuration table in sapscript (loop at tkomcon    conf_out = tkomcon) this could be done by an if then else statement. But i don't like to process this on all variant articles. So i search for a solution to sove this in the article description/variant characteristics depending on a selected value.
    Thanks for help
    Karl Mueller

    Hi
    1) A configurable material , let us say can have  1000 of variants based on the characteristics combination. Out of these 1000 variants we will be interested to stock only a few variants . This could be  say  10 or 20, and for these only, we need to create material variants. Actually this process  is similar to the creation of 10 or 20 new materials..but here  by selecting the characteristics, we are creating the materials which are known as material variants.
Hence we will not be creating material variants for all possible combinations
    2) For the material variants that we  created, we plan, produce & stock the required quantities.During SO creation we enter the specification ie characteristics combination given by the customer. In Sale order itself we can make the system to check whether a material/stock exist for the given characteristics combination and assign the promise date suitably.

  • Variant Configuration Data download from R/3 to CRM

    Hello all
It may be a very dumb question, but I would certainly appreciate an answer.
We are currently using SAP R/3 4.6c and heavily use VC for configurable products and also for pricing.
Now we wish to explore the possibility of using SAP CRM 5.0 to enable our sales force to use CRM PCUI to create quotes for configurable materials.
    My questions are as following:-
    1. Is it possible to download all VC related data into CRM from R/3 including pricing? I understand that for different VC object, I will have to use different CRM objects but is it possible? If the data transfer is possible, is it typically done by a middleware resource?
    2. I would also like to confirm that by creating a run time version and Kbase is pre requisite to enable the download to CRM.
If you could please point me to the appropriate help on this topic, I would really appreciate it.
    Best regards
    Jai

    Hi Gun,
    In your message, You stated
As recommended by SAP, if we have R/3 link into our CRM
the best scenario is to get VC product from R/3 into CRM.
Is there any documentation tjhat backs this up? could you give it to me
we have  a situation in our company where we have been using a home grown product  that not only lets you configure product bu it also takes the user through a selling experience for example it asks the user if he is interested in buying any accessories for the product and provides options through pop messages and the user can select. this way it takes leads the user  through questionnaires that comes in pop ups to select a product
we have crm service and ecc implemented and now we need to implement  this feature for the crm sales  piece
the question is do we go for  PME  or variant config that is already set up in ECC ?
the link and middle ware set up between ECC and CRM is also available so we can bring the variant configuration from ECC into crm.  but how about the questionnaires and the selling experience that is available  through pop up questionnaires,
we can set up the selling experience via the Product modeler   but as a company we need to make a decision whether we bring the varinat configuration from ecc and use the selling experience  for the pop up questionnaires that leads customer
or should we just use sales packages that behaves similarly like varinat configuration and add enahcnements to create the pop- up questionaires
Could you direct /provide some guidance in this area?

  • Custom ATP Check using Variant Configuration Data in sales order

I have a requirement to modify the standard SAP ATP check by including the variant configuration data entered on a item.  Standard SAP does not use/include the characteristics data when doing the ATP. None of the available user exits would allow me to do this.
The scenario is the client has a configurable product that exist in inventory as one item, base unit as IN2.  The batches that exist in inventory have the characteristics of width and length.  The order data specifies a width and a length, they need the ATP to identify the availability based on the characteristics of the batch.
The solution was to present the user with a list of batches based on the characteristics that meet the criteria.  The user would then have the option of choosing one of the batches which would mean that the line item would include the batch #.  If the user does not want any of the batches, they could choose to select a Make to Order option, which would change the item category of the item, so that it creates a production order upon saving the order.
The problem I am having implementing this solution is I have not been able to identify the internal table(s) that contains the characteristics data in SAPMV45A after the configuration screen is called.  If anyone knows where that information is during the sales order processing, it would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello Jean,
Have you managed to find a solution as yet? I know you have not received any replies but am hoping you were able to resolve the problem as we are facing the exact issue on our project.
    Please let me know,
    Thanks,

  • Variant configuration questions

    HI Gurus,
Pls help me answer following two questions
1.Is there a way i can transfer the variant configuration master data(Characteristics, class, dependencies etc) to other(quality, production) system automatically?
2.In case of inconsistency in the VC configuration system says "Configuration is inconsistent" it doesn't give any specific message where the inconsistency happened.Pls let me know is there a way i can give specific message when inconsistency happenes.
Example: when user selects car model 1105, colour red should not be allowed. In this case i want to send a message "For model 1105, colour red not allowed" not just "configuration inconsistent"
    Thanks,
    KRishna

    1) Data that is used in Varaint Config (Classes, Characteristics, Object Dependencies, etc .................) can be sent to other Clients by ALE).
    2) When you see that you have an inconsitency, double click on the Red Error, this will bring up a Window with the Characteristic and Value that is inconsistent.  Next click on the Object Dependency Button, under the window title bar.  This wil show you the Object Dependency that is raising the inconsistency.  Variant also has a Trace Tool that you can use to watch Object dependencies, to see the Value before the Object dependency set the Value, and than the Value after the Object dependency.

  • Variant Configurator and ALE

Has anyone had any experience with using ALE to transport all aspects of the Variant Configurator set-up to another SAP instance? We had planned to go this route, but have had people tell us that they wrote custom programs to download data from one instance and then use BDC's to load them in the new system. Is there a problem with using ALE for VC set-up data or anything we should be aware off?
    Regards.

    Hi Cynthia,
I have done this in the past.  Definitely ALE is the way to go over BDC's etc.
The only thing you have to watch is the sequence that you send the data in.  For example you must send dependency function module definitions before you can send any dependencies that call those functions.  Otherwise you get an Idoc failure.
Where you get circular references (for example you have a characteristic which has a dependcy attached to it, and the dependency actually refers to the characteristic by name) then the best thing is to set the status of the dependency to deactivated, ALE it to the target system (syntax check will pass because its deactivated), ALE the characteristic, set the status back on the dependency, and then ALE it again.
Apart from occasional circular references, however, it works really well.
Another thing to watch is that when you set up your ALE distribution model, that you consider the possibility of concurrent development and ALEing between systems.  For ease of administration, we set up our DEV system as the source for both QA and for PROD (rather than having DEV as source for QA and QA as source for prod) but this means that you shouldn't do any development on objects currently in QA as the latest changes will be ALE'd from DEV to PROD.
I think the general sequence of ALEing that worked the best was:
    1. Characteristics
    2. Function module definitions
    3. Dependencies
    4. Configuration profiles
I feel I have forgotten something there, but I guess you get the idea.
Last thing, you can't ALE the configuration profile user interface.  So if you have designed your own layout for the characteristics (with tabs, and userexit buttons etc.) you have to recreate these manually in each environment.  Not much fun when you have 10+ clients in your landscape.  I kept meaning to write a program to handle it but, time got away from me.
Finally, you have to ask yourself why SAP didn't treat all this stuff as configuration though, and allow you to migrate using change requests.  Wouldn't that be nice!!!
    Hope that helps.
    Cheers,
    Brad

  • ALE Variant Configuration

Hi , I am not having much idea about ALE , I am some problems in it.
When running the ALE to move the Variant Configurator from Client 130 to other Clients, I am running into the following issues.
1)it does not copy the dependencies within the Configuration Profile. It copies the dependencies themselves and the profile, but when you go into the profile, there are no dependencies listed. An example is: For SLCase in Client 130, go into the profile and you can see several dependencies there, but when you go into Client 110.
2)it does not always update the dependency when it already exists.
3)it does not update the Table structure when the table already exists.
4)it does not update the data in the table when the table already exists (this oculd be because the structure of the table changed in Client 130, but didn't update the structure in the other clients (as in #3 above).
5)it does not update the Default checkbox on the characteristic when the characteristic already exits.
    Thanks.
    Ankesh Jindal

    Hi
Check SAP note 10745. It has details how to transfer classification data from one client o another by ALE. Hope it will help to solve your problem

  • VA01 and Variant Configurator

    Hello Experts,
I am currently working on a project where I need to obtain the information for a configured product within VA01 once the user exits the Variant configurator.  I know that I need the value for CUOBJ in order to retrieve the information.  I have found a user-exit where I can obtain the value but I noticed that the configuration data has yet to be saved to the appropriate tables - IBIB, IBIN, etc.....  Does anyone know in what data object(s) this information can be found within SAPMV45A?  I need this information before the user leaves the sales order.
Your support will be greatly appreciated!!!!

    Hello Laura,
I am doing a similiar job and i too need to save the cuobj value in the table with configuration data so that i can substitute these for pfunction. Can you please share the approach you haveapplied. the user exit name would be very helpful.

  • Table needed- Variant configuration details of a material in a sales order

    Dear Friends,
I would like to display all variant configuration details/characteristics and values of a particular item in the sales order in a table. Is there any standard SAP table available to serve this purpose??
Ex: I would like to give the sales doc no and the item no and material. The system has to display all the variant configuration details (Characteristics and the values) for the particular item
could you please suggest any other methods to achieve this?
    Regards,
    Kali

    HI Kali
There is no standard SAP table available for your requirement.
Instead use FM "VC_I_Get_Configuration", and pass your sales order and item number to fetch Variant char. value for that line item in sales order.
    This is the only solution.
