Display adapters
envy m6 recently updated to windows 8.1 Now there is a fault with the display adaptors. Intel Graphic 4000. I have tried everything on the internet. Geeksquad had no luck. But I think that they just tried everything I did. Deleted, removed and updated. I run 2 monitors one on vga and other on HDMI. This laptop is of no use to me like this. Please can anyone help.
You're very welcome.
If the graphics worked fine on W8, then it is a driver problem.
There are no W8.1 drivers for your model on the support page, so it is possible the specific Intel HD graphics chip is not supported by HP for W8.1 and needs a custom driver which does not exist.
I don't see any W8.1 drivers for the m6-1200 series notebooks either that have the same Intel graphics.
You could try various W8.1 Intel drivers from other HP notebooks with similar hardware, but don't get your hopes up.
I'll toss you a couple for you to try from HP notebooks with the same chipset and graphics as yours, that have W8.1 drivers.

Photoshop crashing with 2 different display adapters
I am having trouble with Photoshop CC.
My laptop is a Sony Vaio Z Series model SVZ131190X. The internal display adapter is an Intel HD Graphics 4000, this is the Driver Node Strong Name from the device properties:
oem6.inf:ATI.Mfg.NTamd64.6.1:iIVBM1ML_PROXY:8.961.1.0:pci\ven_8086&dev_0166&subsys_90a5104 d
This display adapter drives 1 of my external displays (it also drives the laptop's display).
The Vaio has a docking station which has a second display adapter, an AMD Radeon HD 7670M. This is the Driver Node Strong Name from the device properties:
oem6.inf:ATI.Mfg.NTamd64.6.1:ati2mtag_Vancouver_PXAI:8.961.1.0:pci\ven_1002&dev_6740&subsy s_90a5104d
With both display adapters active Photoshop displays the splash screen, begins initialization, and then stops working. Windows asks if I want to debug it and the app closes. I can disable the monitors from either display adapter and Photoshop starts fine. Once Photoshop is running I can re-enable the monitors I disabled and it continues to work, I can move Photoshop from one screen to another and back again with no issue. My current setup is using both monitor outputs on the docking station, the VGA port is plugged into a Samsung 191t, the HDMI port is plugged into a ViewSonic VA2246M-LED (with an HDMI to DVI cable). The internal laptop monitor is not active (the lid is closed) and attached to the VGA port on the side of it is another ViewSonic VA2246M-LED.
The OS is Windows 7 Home Premium, SP1. It is the Sony OEM install of Windows aside from updates that have been installed since I bought it (xmas of 2012).
This is the Driver Node Strong Name for the Docking Station:
machine.inf:GENDEV_SYS.NTamd64:NO_DRV:6.1.7601.17514:*pnp0c15
Here is the system info from Photoshop when it is running (started with the monitor on the Intel HD adapter disconnected). When the 3rd monitor is activated after starting Photoshop the System Info dialog sees that monitor as Display 3 (the system info once the 3rd monitor is activated is pasted below this):

T510 - Device Manager showing multiple Display Adapters
I recently started experiencing a problem with a Java application locking up when moving windows from the laptop screen to an external monitor. One of the things we discovered during troubleshooting is that I am showing 2 Display Adapters:
Intel(R) HD Graphics - running the Laptop Screen
NVIDIA NVS 3100M - running the external Screen
Is this correct? I now also know why when using the NVIDIA Control Center it only shows the one monitor.I'm not joking.
In BIOS (press F1 key when you see turn on the computer and see the Thinkpad screen) you can select the different graphics mode of the machine. As you are keenly aware, the machine does have 2 graphics processors.
Under Display:
Selecting the Integrated option in BIOS shuts off the nVIDIA graphics card and uses the lower power Intel graphics 3000 on the CPU. This limits graphics performance, but allows for longer battery operation and full CPU speed on battery.
Selecting the Discrete option in BIOS forces the system to use the nVIDIA card. This improves graphics performance, allows you to use multiple monitors, but decreases CPU performance while using battery and reduces battery life.
Selcting Optimus allows software or the user to determine which graphics processor to use "on the fly" so that power budget and GPU performance are balanced for the workload.
Enjoy!

Multiple Display Adapters - Why??
Hi guys,
Got me a new W520. See something odd I don't understand... In Device Manager, I have two Display Adapters:
Intel HD Graphics Family
NVIDIA Quadro 2000M
I am by no means a hardcore graphics user and I am not a gamer, but I added the 2000M when ordering because, well... Why not? Anyway, the first thing I did to this thing was rebuild it with a fresh copy of Windows 7 Pro x64. At some point, I realized the Intel graphics were not installed and as a result, I had NO video. So...
Why are there two graphics cards?
Why do the Intel drivers need to be operational with the NVIDIA there?
How can I even tell what is actually driving my displays??!!
Which brings me to...
This laptop is docked 80% of the time. Connected are three 24" LCDs. LCDs 1 & 2 are connected directly to DVI ports on the dock. LCD 3 is connected using a Lenovo USB2DVI Adapter.
All run at 1920x1200 resolution and overall work fine, although I do sometimes detect flickering and "waviness".
I just wanna get the most out this system; graphically and otherwise. It's running the SSD HDD and 8GB RAM, so combined with the NVIDIA, this thing should be a beast. The NVIDIA Control Panel doesn't seem to actually have any settings I could adjust even if I should or wanted to. And in the programs list under NVIDIA, all I have are the options to enable or disable "3D Vision". Don't even know what that is.
So, what should I be doing here? Anything? Nothing? Thanks!I'm not joking.

Display Adapters included?
I just sold my early 2008 macbook air and can't wait to get the new macbook air! They're awesome computers and I'd reccommend them to anyone who puts a premium on portability and great customer service on Apple's part. But aside from that, I'm a little confused. ...so there's NO display adapters included with the new Macbook Air?? Why would they not include them this time? I mean, just why? Especially when they've just introduced their new Mini DisplayPort which no other device a user would need to hook-up to has, except their new cinema displays..? Have I been misinformed or does the computer really not come with any display adapters....? I mean i'm not asking for full cables or anything, but at the very least, an adapter (which has always been included with their new notebooks) would be nice and expected... just really confused about this one....
It's the way of Apple lately -- things that "always used to be included" are no longer included -- there are no adapters with the MBA. There is no dock included with the iPhone 3G, which used to be included with the first gen. Their iPods always used to come with a Dock...those were dropped too eventually.
The reality is, 90 percent of the users don't use those things. While it's nice to have them included, Apple makes more money from the 10 percent of users who DO need them, charging them extra for them. Available at the Apple Retail Stores, or online. -
Satellite L850D - Display Adapters Code 43 error
Hi,
I have a Toshiba Satellite L850D and I installed the pc game Sims 3. For a few months, the game was working fine with minimum glitches occasionally until one day the game froze so I rebooted my laptop.
When I tried to open the game again, it came up with "The operation could not be completed. An unexpected error occurred (error code -43) I did some research and found out that my Display Adapters had problems and when I opened it it said "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)"
How do I fix this?
And if I have to re-install the drivers, where can I get the download? If you have European notebook model you can download driver from http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp
Try to reinstall display driver. -
Use all three display adapters - N560GTX
Hi All,
I just upgraded to a N560GTX Twin Frozr II/OC and wanted find out if there is a way to use all three display adapters (2 DVI and 1 HDMI)
Does anyone know if this is possible and how would you go about doing it?No, that's not possible. With that vga you are limited to two displays.

G550 Multiple Display Adapters - Why??
Hey guys
I am running a G550 64bit Windows7. When I restart the computer it boots fine till "starting windows" screen the screen then goes blank. Not dead just without video.
I run in safe mode and it boots as should. Now from her ei started to get pretty determined so I did a bunch of research and after long found myself here..
In the device manager there are two display adapters listed. Both the same "mobile Intel 4 series express chipset family"
I deleted one and rebooted no issues. Still got screen resizes and flashes periodically. And now each reboot 2nd adapter reinstalls and I am left with the same problem mentioned above
what I am asking
is this a virus? How to remove
(I cleaned the registry stopped unwanted startup autoruns malwarebytes run antivirus run Microsoft security essentials)
Thank you for your help.
Moderator Note; subject edited; post moved to here from a ThinkPad boardHi mynameisjd,
Thanks for posting and welcome to the Lenovo Community,
Am sorry to hear about the issue that you’re facing and I’d like to ask you if you faced this problem from a recent time?
And as I understand from your explanation that when you uninstalled the graphic driver it worked fine so I’d like to ask you to try to perform a recovery for the system to get the machine back as a brand new machine,
If you’d like to take backup from your data as all files on C: will be erased as this process will return the machine back to the initial state if your machine came with preinstalled operating system and there is changes on the operating system nor the partitions of the HDD sizes,
And please connect the charger and the battery and then please press on the one key recovery button while the machine completely off and then see if you can windows loading files and then you will get the options for the recovery and kindly check the below link for the recovery steps:
http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=HT062552
Hope the information helps. Let us know.
Regards
Soha

K7D Master-L graphics problem: multiple display adapters/no winxp star
Hiya,
I just recently bought a new K7D Master-L and I've had a few problems with it. Other than these issues the board has been great, but this is getting pretty annoying and I can't seem to fix it, so I'm posting here for advice/help/solutions.
System Specs: I have two AthlonMP 1900+ and 786MB Corsair RAM (registered PC2100, 512MB in slot 1, 256MB in slot 2). I have a WD400JB (40GB ATA100 drive with 8MB buffer) and a generic IDE CD/DVD-ROM. I have an ATI Radeon 9700 Pro AGP card running at 4x.
When I first installed the motherboard I tried to load Windoze XP on it (actually I first used Linux but had ...driver problems). Anyway XP seemed to install fine, but upon reboot, the system would get to the "progress bar"/"OS loading" screen (the small blue bar that goes back and forth) and the bar would get stuck exactly 2 "bars" from where it started--every time. I could boot into safe mode, but nothing seemed screwy. Doign the command-line boot (I think) where it shows the drivers it is loading, it got to the "agpgart" file then stopped, maybe this was the problem. I gave up after a dozen reboots or so, trying various things, and installed Windows 2000+SP3.
Win2K installed fine, and after installing the drivers on MSI's site for northbridge, southbridge, audio, and lan, and installing ATI's latest Catalyst 3.4 drivers (I also tried 3.2), device manager had no more problems, save one.
The problem is that there are two display adapters listed: "RADEON 9700" and "RADEON 9700 (Secondary)". There were two adapters listed before I installed the drivers, called something like "Display Adapter" and "Display Adapter (VGA compatible)". In Properties it says "PCI Slot 4 (PCI bus 1, device 5, function 0)", is this normal for AGP cards? Here is a screenshot (I disabled one to see if that helped my settings-loss problem, but it doesn't):

Whats worse is that the display settings don't seem to stick around across reboots--it always reverts to the default settings of 640x480x16--which is extremely annoying. These problems exist regardless of whether I have a Service Pack installed (currently I'm running on a fresh Win2K install with no updates and having the same issues). I've tried multiple drivers for the card and no change, I've tried with/without the updated chipset drivers, and I've had this same setup work on my previous motherboard (Tyan Tiger MP) without seeing multiple display adapters.
Any ideas? Or is there something that might fix my WinXP startup freeze? If so I could reinstall WinXP and see if that has the same multiple adapter problem...
Thanks for any advice.
JoshWell my system just booted into 640x480x16, so it appears those registry changes didn't fix the issue. The registry settings were simply changed back to 640x480x16 for some reason. I haven't reinstalled the motherboard drivers, but I gathered them all up and I'll try this later today. Here are the latest drivers I found, all from MSI's site:

We shall see if this fixes the multiple adapter problem. As far as the display settings problem, I don't know that the deal is. It works fine on other motherboards with the same hardware and drivers, so it must be something with the K7D, Windows, and ATI interaction.

P.S.: There is a bug with this forum software and apostrohpies. Every time you preview your post it inserts escape characters ("\") before apostrphies, and also inserts escape characters for these escape characters, so quickly you have something like "\\\\\\\'" where you want "'". -
Problems XI/PI with displaying adapters in adapter monitioring
Hi everybody,
we have yet installed XI/PI 7.0 SP09. In the adpater monitoring we can only see the JPR adapter but no other standard adapters (FILE, JDBC etc) are displayed.
Furthermore the adapters could also not be selected during creating a communication channel in Integration directory.
<u>Already done:</u>
1. We have made adapter full cache refresh (CPA Cache)
mentioned following:
a) empty cache even after refresh
b) "SAI_CACHE3_REFRESH_BACKGROUND" Job not "displayed" in SM58?
2. successfully Connection tests in component-monitioring (RWB)
Only Web Service security yellow status (integration engine)
Thanks for your help.
Best regards
MarioMost likely the post config step is missing:
"Importing the XI Content for Software Component Version SAP Basis"
This is in the install guide and should be done by basis after install.
You can get the .tpz file from Service.Sap.Com
You can get the steps from the install guide or from help.sap.com - basically you need to place it in the import directory and import it from the IR.
The metadata for the adapters is in this software component for basis, this is why you cant see any from the drop-down list. JPR adapter status isnt a good indicator of all adapters being present.
hope this helps,

Old Studio Display Adapters?
Someone just gave me an old Apple Studio Display, the one with the Apple Display Connector cord that carries power and video on one cord. I want to connect it to a Mac Pro circa 2007.
All of the adapters I've found so far work with machines that have an ADC connector and connect to a DVI display. Does anyone know of an adapter that will do what I need?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!I believe the answer is yes. As far as I can tell the resolution of the 23" Apple Display is 1920x1200 pixels and this resolution is supported via the HDMI interface on the current Mac mini.
HDMI to DVI ---> DVI to ADC ---> ADC to screen
See Apple Cinema HD Display (23") - Technical Specifications
Note: The 17" screen was called a Studio Display but the 23" screen was called a Cinema HD Display. This was because
It was a wide screen display
It was HD resolution
If you have the 17" Studio Display then just use a Mini Displayport to DVI adaptor and then connect that to the ADC adapter. -
Triple display adapters?
I have a 2010 Mac Pro with the 5870 GPU.
My displays are:
- 27" Apple
- 2x 23" DVI LG
I could use some help in figuring out which adapters will allow me to run all three.
Thanks!HT4279- Mac Pro (Early 2009), Mac Pro (Mid 2010): Supported display configurations
The Apple 27 inch has a Mini DisplayPort that plugs right in.
The first of those DVI displays connects to the DVI port.
Short term: Since it is only 23 wide, it is likely to be under 1920 wide, and can use a single-Link DVI cable to save money now (but the cable will not be useful for a wider display later.)
Long Term: Shop REALLY hard for a Dual-Link DVI cable that is also cheap.
The second DVI display will need an adapter or a converter.
Short Term: Mini DisplayPort to Single-Link DVI adapter is all you need for now. That adapter is MUCH cheaper because it forces the Mini DisplayPort into "Single-Link DVI compatability mode"
Long Term: If you ever want to run 3 DVI displays, you may have to spring for the Dual-Link converter. But the cost is so much higher I would wait until you were forced to do it. -
Apple, Please Fix Your Cinema Display Adapters Already
I know this is not a new issue since there are already topics identical to my problem. I bought my Cinema Display in 2007, since then I have had to buy 3-4 power adapters. When they fail the screen goes black, then you unplug it and it works for a short time but as you keep using it the time they work keeps decreasing. My question here is why, Apple, have you not fixed this problem which I have had for the last 5 years? The other issue besides money spent is my computer is basically worthless until Apple sends me the new part. I either have to have a backup power supply for the Cinema Display or have a different brand monitor as a backup. Apple, please fix this problem, I like the display, fix the adapter.
Brian,
I had this same issue and finally found a prefPane called SwitchResX that addresses the issue that I wish Apple had. It is designed to many other things but I only use it to deactivate a second display and it seems to work well for that. -
Do ATI Display adapters work better than NVIDIA?
hi all,
this is a question that has been pointed to in this topic:
http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.59b79682
As long as so many users got problems with their fullscreen preview on a secondary monitor at nvidia cards or trouble with their latest drivers I wondered, if there a less problems with ATI cards.
Does anyone uses such a display adapter and can tell us more about this?
spreeniThe jury is still out over here. I used 2 different ATI cards over the course of 6+ years with very few problems, and now I have a top-end (?) Nvidia card - the GTX 280. I've had some minor issues with a few apps, but I can't say if the Nvidia card is involved, or if it's just Vista, 64-bit, or a whole host of other changes. Time will tell.
One thing Nvidia has all over ATI is the driver update process. It is completely painless. I rarely, if ever, updated my ATI drivers because the update process was so painful and time-consuming. Uninstall existing driver. Reboot. Install new driver. Reboot. Put your desktop back together like Humpty Dumpty after the update.
With Nvidia, I launch the installer, wait for it to finish, reboot, and I'm done. No muss, no fuss.

CS6 artboard - cant resize from center
