Display Arrangement is missing?

I bought a Samsung external monitor over the weekend (HDMI version) S22D300 22" monitor & it worked fine when I first plugged it in on Sunday. I worked from home on Monday, started right up no issues.
Tuesday morning no problems! I come home Tuesday after noon & now my iMac won't detect the monitor. I don't even see the "Arrangement" tab in display preferences??
I've tried starting in Safe Mode, resetting PRAM resetting SMC, changed HDMI cable. The only thing I haven't done is buy another thunderbolt adapter to the HDMI.
I've read several threads about it not working from the start but can't find anything in regards to an external monitor that worked & then just arbitrarily stopped working or even being detected by Mac?
Anyone have any suggestions?

Two Windows scripts to make playlists of Duplicates and Exact Duplicates. Use shift-delete to remove selected tracks from the library as well as the playlist.
There is also my DeDuper script if you don't want to do it by hand. Please take note of the warning to backup your library before deduping. See this thread for background.
Enjoy.

  • How to Disable "Auto Align" in [System Pref.] - [Display] - [Arrangement]

Does anyone know How to Disable "Auto Align" in [System Preferences] -> [Display] -> [Arrangement]?
It always want to align the two screens from the top when they are lined up close together and I need them to be aligned from the bottom. Since the resolution heights are so close together (1080 & 1050) it does not allow one to align side by side from the bottom as it prioritizes top alignment.
I guess I'm looking for a script to disable this feature.

    Anyone got any ideas?

  • How do I get my laptop to remember different display arrangements for different external monitors?

I have a couple of different places where I work, and in both places there is an external monitor. As it turns out, the external monitor is on the left in one place and on the right in the other. They are different monitors, too (one's an old dell and one's a mac monitor). I remember in previous versions of Mac OS X, my MacBook would remember the display arrangement depending on which monitor was connected, and place my secondary desktop on the correct side. In Mavericks, it seems to maintain the arrangement from the last place that I changed it.
What this means is rather than my computer remembering where my external monitor should be, I have to change the arrangement of my monitors every time I switch desks.
Is this a feature that Apple removed from Mavericks? Was I imagining things in older versions of OSX?

"Is there a way to display my iPhone in the finder?"
No. You can't. It's not an external drive.

After upgrade to OS X10.6.7 Mail doesn't display pix.  Missing plug-in instead. Already reset Java to default.
Did not find any other suggestion online.
    What's happening?

    Hi
Is it not displaying any type of picture attachment (JPG, GIF, TIFF, PNG)? Is it any message that you view, from any sender?
How did you reset Java? You may want to clear the caches as well. Empty ~/Library/Caches & /Library/Caches/.

  • Asset values cannot be displayed due to missing text

    Hi guru's,
I am facing the problem while i am displaying the asset values,i am able to create asset through as91 but when i go for awo1n system showing error" Asset values cannot be displayed due to missing"
    help would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Ravi

    Hi Vyas,
I am getting error like below.
Asset values cannot be displayed due to missing texts
    Message no. AY363
    Diagnosis
The values of the selected asset cannot be displayed. Text elements are missing in logon language EN.
    System response
    Processing is terminated.
    Procedure
First, check if you are logged on in a language that is maintained for this system.
This error can also occur, if the company code of the selected asset is assigned to a chart of depreciation that is not fully maintained.
In many cases, the problem can be corrected by re-importing the missing texts from the reference chart of depreciation. You can do this using repair program RACORR14. Refer to SAP note 0773639 for more information.
    Thanks

If you're on a Mac, a default System shortcut needs to be turned off. Turn on the one highlighted below:

  • Mavericks forgetting my display arrangement

I have a MacBook Pro with three external displays - two of which are connected via USB/DisplayLink adapter. Since upgrading to Mavericks, my system forgets the display arrangement every time I reboot. It defaults back to "mirroring" which I have to fix and then the order of the monitors is wrong which I also have to fix. This is quite annoying.
On top of that, I have the issues that others have mentioned - screen flickering when opening the Mail application, lagging mouse pointer, etc.
According to DisplayLink, this needs to be fixed in an OSX update. Does anyone know if there are plans for this and/or is there a workaround?
(and yes, I do have the new beta driver for DisplayLink)

I found this from another thread in Mountain Lion:

    Hello everyone,
While I fear everyone may have moved on to the ten grand can by this point, I am still trying to get this issue with the older Mac Pro resolved. I have some exciting news for you all!
About a week ago, I had had enough, so I unplugged my Mac Pro, and carried it 10 blocks down to the Apple Store in Charleston, SC, where I was graciously greeted by the genius team whom I had previously spoke to about the problem. We did some testing in the store and were in fact able to replicate the problem. The genius spent some time looking through Apple's logs of cases and support documentation, but was unable to find anything relating to this issue. The next step he then told me, was to escalate the issue to the engineering department. I was told I would hear a response back in about a week. To my amazement, it was less than 48 hours later. I got a call from the same guy at the local Apple store. He told me that he spoke to the engineering team and said this, "this is a software or firmware bug that has recently been brought to light. The issue is related to the order in which the displays are powered on/brought out of sleep." I was told the best thing for me to do next, was to head over to apple.com/feedback and fill out a software bug feature request. I did so, and I would suggest that all of you, still have this issue do the same as well!
I will certainly keep you all informed of any further developments.

  • Display arrangement for 2 monitors

I recently purchased the Mac Pro and just connected 2 monitors.  I want to expand the desktop but can't find the "arrangement" feature in system preferences.  Where do I locate the display arrangement feature?

First, you need to read from the Mavericks Hymnal about how they think it should work:
OS X: Using multiple displays in Mavericks
Then you use this to turn it off if you want Extended desktop:
Then you will get this in System Preferences > Displays > Arrange:

  • Lion forgetting display arrangement

    Hi guys,
Hopefully someone can sprinkle me with their wisdom.
I have my macbook plugged into an external display, which is slightly higher up. As such, I have a staggered display arrangement (in Sysprefs) to mirror what's happening in real life. This has never been in a problem before, but recently (within the last week or so) it keeps forgetting this arrangement when the display is unplugged and reattached.
Only things I've done recently is an OS update and something where I deleted a prefs file because iTunes kept constantly asking for firewall permissions even when I'd already set it (which fixed the problem. Obviously if the former caused the issue then Apple have something to answer for, whereas if it's the latter I might imagine that same prefs file had something to do with screen arrangements too. Other than that, I have no clue what the problem is.
    Any help, much appreciated!
    Cheeeers!

did we get solution for this issue, even im facing this issue from past few weeks but not getting the answer

  • Display arrangement behaves strangely

I have a Macbook Pro with 2 1280x1024 monitors attached, one with a DVI out cable and one with a DisplayLink adapter via USB. All seems to work fine for most arrangements, however in the display arrangement gui ins system preferences I am getting an inconsistent result. When I try and put the laptop screen beneath the DVI attached monitor and set the dock to be on the DVI monitor, it actually appears in reality on the laptop screen. If I move it under the other monitor it works fine.
So I am getting a different result to what is being displayed in the arrangement window

    Desktop?
    Do a backup.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder.  Select Library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.desktop.plist.  Move the .plist to your desktop.
Re-launch Finder by restarting and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the same, return the .plist to where you got it  from, overwriting the newer one.
Thanks to leonie for some information contained in this.

  • Display Arrangement - Menu Bar

    Hi!
I have recently upgraded to Lion and I am experiencing a problem with the External Monitor.
When I connect it reads ok and I have the external monitor as my main screen. However I can't use the other screen (MBP). When I go to Display > Arrangement the blue screens with the bar disappear. If I click Mirror Display they are both there and grouped but again when Mirro display is off there is no way to select which monitor should be the primary and the position of the screens.
How can I do? Third party softwares perhaps? Is this a bug? It wasn't the case with Snow Leopard!

  • Remember display arrangement..

At home i have the 27" screen left and the macbook pro right.
At work i have another 27" screen right and macbook pro left.
I constantly need to goto system preferences > display > arrangement to adjust the monitor setup.
removing the com.apple.windowserver.plist (from /library/preferences/) has no effect...
    OSX lion bug or...?

Slightly different problem: I have three monitors attached to a MacPro running 10.7.
With most restarts (but not all) the arrangement of the monitors changes. Usually the primary monitor moves from centre to far right; the resolution from the centre monitor goes from 2560x1600 to 800x600; and the far right and far left monitors swap locations.
Sometimes less disruptive changes occur but it's always annoying. This setup worked fine in 10.6
I haven't found any other useful threads and deleting the preference files and profile files from this threads didn't help.
    Any suggestions?

  • Display arrangement no longer being saved.

Hi, everyone. I've had a 24" LED Display for a few months now, and up until recently the arrangement of my displays was always saved. Every time I connected the LED display to my 13.3" MacBook, it would become the primary display and the MacBook's display would be arranged such that its bottom left corner touched the bottom right corner of the display (in system preferences).
Now when I connect it, every time, the two UPPER corners touch and I have to move the display manually within System Preferences. The display still works, but this is becoming an irritation.
    Anybody else seen this?

To anyone else having this problem, I may have figured it out. There is a preferences file, "/Library/Preferences/com.apple.windowserver.plist" that seems to store display configuration stuff. When I opened it up, there were 20 different stored configurations. Trashing this file seems to make my problem go away, and my display arrangement is now normal.

  • "Arrangement" tab missing, can't display Macbook on HDTV

    Hello,
I have a mini-DVI to HDMI adapter, an HDMI cable and an HDTV. I'm trying to hook up my Macbook to the HDTV, but I'm having trouble because the "Arrangment" tab is missing in the Display settings.
The crazy thing is that I've successfully mirrored displays countless times before, with the same cables, Macbook, and HDTV. But one day the "Arrangement" tab decided not to show up, and I'm at the end of my rope trying to figure out what happened or what I did differently.
The HDTV recognizes that the HDMI cable is plugged in, and the Macbook recognizes when it is connected to the TV as well, flashing blue when I plug or unplug the mini-DVI adapter. I've tried everything I can think of: restarting, unplugging everything and plugging it all back in, sleeping and waking the computer, trying to connect the Macbook while plugged in and while just running on the battery, turning everything off before disconnecting and reconnecting the cables - everything. No matter what I try, clicking "Detect Displays" still does nothing, my HDTV's screen remains blank, and the "Arrangement" tab remains absent.
I've done everything short of buying new cables, which I don't want to do because I know that what I have works!
Any suggestions? I've really missed watching things on my HDTV. Thanks for your time!

After much fiddling with display resolutions and TV setting, and several calls to Apple help, problem was found to have a really basic solution: replace the RCA connector cable. The old one was shot.

  • Display Arrangement Missing

I'm trying to set up my iPad 2 as a second monitor to my MacBook Pro (with air display). Initially, it worked out fine but after trying it again, the display not only doubled the image on from my Pro, but also shank the Pro's resolution to iPad size. In order to fix this issue I need to go into System Pref> Display> then Arrangement, but this option for Arrangement is not present. Could someone help me render this issue?
