Display Attachment Broken

After four years of dedicated service, my Macbook appears to have finally kicked the bucket. Today, I put my computer on sleep mode and went out with some friends. When I came back and opened the display, it practically fell off, as the hinge appears to be broken. My question is; is this something that apple can fix? Or for the time being, will I have to resort to using an external display? The computer appears to still be fully functional, just the display wants to come off.

Most parts for older MacBooks are pretty easy to come by, and if it's just the clutch block that's failed, the parts may be reasonably inexpensive. If you do a web search for "macbook parts", you'll find a number of vendors. I've not ordered from any of them so I can't make any recommendations, but if you decide you want to investigate self-repair, if you post again, someone may be able to make a recommendation. PowerbookMedic is one resource, and offer parts and repair guides.
Note as well that you may be able to get a better price on the repair from an Apple service center. So once you find out what the Apple Store would charge, if it seems more than you want to pay you could try a service center and see if they'd give you a better price. Won't start with thunderbolt display attached

Almost new 3.5 Ghz Intel Core i7 iMac 2014 SSD only, 32GB disk running 10.9.4. Absolutely will not start up from shutdown state with an additional 27" Thunderbolt display attached. Unplug the display, boots fine. Then plug in the display, all works peachy. Sleep is also broken and hangs on restart, except if you only sleep the displays, not the CPU then it always wakes up fine. This is pathetic, very Windows-like.
Suggestions?

Has anyone encounter this? Anyone have a solution? Should I try an SMC reset (always a bit nervous about that)? Might it be a driver issue in Yosemite?

how do you log into hotmail at work? via webmail interface? hotmail provides POP email access only when using an email clienet and you probably have Mail set to remove messages from server after downloading them. go to Mail preferences->account->advanced and check those settings. you can change them to leave messages on server or to remove them from server only when they are moved from the inbox.

How to edit/print photos marked with an icon displaying a broken rectagle?

I have been trying to print pictures displaying a broken rectangle. When I open up the pictures, they will not become clear on the screen and consequently I can not edit them. They seem to be missing the base part of the picture that must be lost in my computer. Thanks for the help. Debby

PSA SE does not store the picture files anywhere. It only catalogs what you have. If you deleted them from My Photos after importing into PSA SE, the image files are now lost [unless you have a backup or they are in the Recycle Bin].

Works fine as dominant display (currently not mirrored) but I need Cinema Display attached and powered up to run system. The Power Switch on tower lights, but won't shut down system, or start it without ADC attached. (It won't control system at all, only Power Switch on ADC works) Nothing in Preferences seems to apply. Should I just duct-tape new Display over old ADC and move on??? THANKS!

I was hoping I had overlooked some simple Preferance-type step in the change-over, but beyond maybe changing the old battery next, I'll just put one screen in front of the other- fortunately I've got room. 2 displays attached to 17" MacBook Pro?

Does anyone know whether it is possible to have 2 24" LED displays attached to the new 17" Macbook Pro?

I have a 15" macbook pro-late 2008 model with mini display port. I have a 30" ACD and a 23" ACD. Is there any way to run both screens at the same time? I have the dual dvi for the 30" currently running of the MBP.

There are two different types of case on the iBook G3 (Dual USB), so in order to find one that matches, we need to know which model it is.

Kernel panic when trying to use spotlight with external display attached

Having an issue with my fairly new MacBook Pro (purchased in April). When it's connected to an external display, I will get a kernel panic 100% of the time if I click on the Spotlight icon. The same also happens sometimes when clicking Documents or Downloads in the dock, but that is infrequent. and see if the panics occur then, though quite frankly it appears it may be an issue with your video card and/or drivers.

Do you use the MS Word editor as the graphical editor for smartforms? The old graphical editor is not unicode enabled.
You can activate the MS Word editor for smartforms and sapscipt via the report RSCPSETEDITOR. After this try again to enter te characters in the smartform editor and it should worrk ok.

Why is there an arrangement button in Displays when I don't have an external display attached to my MacBook Pro?

I can't even get my pictures from iPhoto to my external hard drive I just bought.
Quit iPhoto and drag the iPhoto library to the external drive as an intact single entity - launch iPhoto while depressing the option (alt) key and point iPhoto to the new location - test the library fully and then delete the library from the internal drive
I'm about ready to just get a disposable camera and call it good.

That is correct - you must have 10% or a minimum of 10GB of free space for efficient and safe operation

Not to mention, the CD drive has a disc in it that won't come out. I'm not anywhere near an Apple dealer, and my MacBook is under warranty, so I can't go anywhere but Apple.
