Display audio duration

Hello
[Adobe Flash Player 11.2.202.235; Safari 5.1.5; Mac OSX 10.6.8]
When playing an audio file in Safari, is it possible to display the time elapsed (e.g. '4:13')? I was used to this in Internet Explorer/Windows, and I would like to use this feature in Safari/Mac as well.
Yours sincerely,
Marc

  • Audio duration and position-

I am using AudioQueues to play audio. In order to display a progress bar, I need to access the audio duration and the current position. Are there any APIs that I can use to get this info from the queue or the player?

I think you should know all of that from the state of your buffer callbacks. You tell the AQ services how much sample data you have, similarly, you should know where you currently are playing in that data, at least to within one buffer-length.

  • IMac force select "Display Audio" when headphone jack is in use

I have a new 2012 iMac and Thunderbolt Display.  I use the Display Audio from time to time, but also use a set of high quality speakers plugged in to the headphone jack.
Some applications, like Chrome (Google Hangout, Gmail phone calls) will default to using the Display Audio as the speaker.  If I have the headphone jack in use (using the desk speakers), then the Audio System Preferences will NOT let me select the "Display Audio" device.  It will immediately highlight "Headphone" again.  The problem is if I want to change the "Display Audio" volume, I have to remove the cable from the headphone port, then change the audio, then plug it back in the headphone port.
    It's quite annoying.
Is there any way to change this?
As a second request, is there an app that allows you to select which audio device applications will use?  Like, if I wanted to change Chrome from using the Display Audio (not sure why thats the default anyway), or another application to only use the headphone port...

    Hi,
The problem with the selection of the headphone port is something I reported to Apple back in October 2012.  After some time, the reply came back that this was intended behaviour, and my bug report was subsequently marked as, "behaves correctly"!  I agree with you that this is a pain in the backside and certainly appears to be bug-like behaviour.  If you can take the time, I'd ask you to file your own bug report on this matter here.  Perhaps it'll help cause a re-think.  You should be able to log in with your Apple ID.
As for your second question: many people are asking this now.  Rogue Amoeba made such a thing years ago, but it doesn't work on modern, Intel-based Macs.  Maybe they'd consider updating it if enough people asked?
For Chrome, you can use ChromeLauncherWithExtraAudio - I've tried it and it works fine, though once you've changed the audio output on launch you have to quit and re-launch to change it again.  If you want to choose where to send audio from movies, radio and so forth you could start using VLC, which completely ignores the system audio settings, and lets you choose from any connected audio outputs.

  • Display Audio - USB setting visible, but not selectable.

I have my 24" hooked up via USB, the mic pick up works fine. But when I go to the Output and click on "Display Audio - USB" the selection *jumps back* to what I had before, in my case headphones. What am I doing wrong?

Okay, I had to unplug the headphones from the headphone jack on the front of my tower for the Display Audio Output to work.
So my next question is, how do I keep my headphones jacked in without them usurping control of the audio output?

  • MacBook Pro won't automatically switch between internal speakers and display audio

I have a MacBook Pro that connects to a LED Cinema display.  It used to automatically switch between internal speakers and display audio when plugged in to the display but won't anymore.  I have to manually change it in System Preferences --> Sound. Does anyone know how to make it do that again?
    thanks,
    Ben

I just want to add, I have the same problem, and just want to help raise awareness of it.
1st, the problem only started recently (have been using the Thunderbolt display since it was released), I did not have this problem, and noticed it beginning only in the last month. (since January)
2nd, My particular setup, includes a hard drive attached to the firewire port on the back of the Thunderbolt Display (so, I am wondering if anyone else experienced this problem with a firewire drive being connected).
         My full setup:
              Macbook Air (2011)
             Thunderbolt display
Western Digital drive (attached to firewire of display)
3rd, If I go into settings, what I will see is the "Display Audio" is selected (but no sound coming out),
If I then select "Internal Speakers," a buffered "history" of all the sounds I did not hear is then played (pretty funny actually) - for  example, if I sent mail, adjusted the volume, and started playing a song.... it immediately plays all those sounds when selecting "Internal Speakers"
4th, If i then select "Display Audio" - it does nothing
5th, what I have to do, to resolve this is:  eject all my hard drives,  disconnect the thunderbolt cable, then reconnect the thunderbolt cable, and everything works as normal.

  • Sustained use of Cinema display audio results in noise, choppy audio, then cutting out

When I play a sustained audio stream through my 27" LED Cinema display – for example, listening to my music collection on iTunes – for a couple hours (since I powered on my computer), the audio suddenly gets very noisy and after a few seconds really choppy (+ noisy), and waiting another few seconds it's barely audible (just repeated hints of noise). After this happens, I can press Pause in iTunes, wait a few seconds, then press Play, and the audio is perfectly fine again.
Then, after only a half hour or less, the same thing happens, and I have to do the same thing to fix it. I am always able to fix the audio perfectly fine, but it inevitably craps out again after 5-30 minutes.
If I power off my computer or let it sleep overnight, then come back and play iTunes again, the audio will be fine for a few hours before this inevitably happens again.
I've followed the advice of an Apple support technician of resetting both my NVRAM and SMC, and that had no effect. The Cinema display audio continues to behave the same.
I have the USB for the Cinema display plugged directly into my MBP's USB port (no other USB hub in the way).
I have the latest version of OS X and thus the 27" Cinema Firmware 1.0 update has already been applied (I tried applying it by downloading the firmware update manually, but it refused, saying I do not need this update).
This should go without saying, but this never happens when I play music through my MBP's built-in speakers, or when I play music through external speakers plugged into the line-out port. It's behaviour that happens exclusively through the 27" Cinema display's audio interface.
    Thoughts, anyone?
I'm especially curious whether anyone else has had precisely this kind of audio problem with their 27" Cinema display. I've seen many people post audio issues relating to their 27" Cinema display, but most of those problems were remedied by the 1.0 firmware update, and besides none of the problems were described quite like mine (specifically, audio that becomes noisy, then mostly cuts out - it never completely cuts out - and that can be reliably [temporarily] fixed by pausing and playing the audio again).

Can an MBP Sound preferences output to the display as opposed to through usb?  I use a mac pro and have those two choices for my mini-displayport 27" apple display.
I am not suggesting this as a fix but only testing various other paths to try to diagnose the problem.
What first came to mind in your description was that you are having some kind of temperature problem.  And I think the temp problem lies with the MBP and not the display.  To that end you might consider adding one of the temp monitor utilities like iStat Pro, iStat Menus, Temperature Monitor, Temperature Monitor widget, Hardware Monitor, etc.  See if there some correlation with the temps shown in some of the readings and your sound problem.

  • How to display audio file as a graph?

    Hi all,
I m creating a swing application for processing audio file.
In that application, i want to display audio in wave format.

*2. zooming (scaling) of graph with respect to time should be possible*

    JavaZoom's API does: [http://www.javazoom.net/projects.html]
3rd party libraries and plugins do lots of stuff, sure. But this is a JavaSound forum, after all...
For mp3 files, audioInputStream.getFrameLength() is -1.(this code requires that for creating graph).
So how to solve this? The existence of JavaZoom doesn't change the fact that "no one solved it", because JavaSound doesn't support MP3 files... So JavaZoom isn't going to change the results of audioInputStream.getFrameLength() for an MP3 file.
So, in conclusion... If you want to play an MP3 file, JavaZoom will do that. But if you want to +"solve it"+ then you're still SOL ;-)

  • Where can I download Intel (R) Display Audio driver for HP Compaq L2206tm?

    Hi,
I am using an Elitebook 820G1 with an external monitor HP Compaq L2206tm.
The monitor is also not showing up in Sounds>Playback as of now.
But when it does show up in Sounds, it can play sound from the laptop.
Problem is sometimes after reboot or wake up from sleep, the monitor drops off from the Sounds panel.
I tried uninstalling Intel (R) display audio driver from Device Manager, and then do a scan for hardware changes to reintall the driver, I get a message "Device driver software was successfully installed."
May I know where can I download Intel (R) display audio driver for HP Compaq L2206tm / Elitebook 820G1?
And what can I do to keep the monitor stay on the Sounds panel?
Please help, I have googled endless with no results.

    Thank you Paul.
I'm downloading the driver as I write.
Hopefully HP will update their page and correct the link soon

  • PR CC doesn't display audio waveforms even though option is checked

PR CC doesn't display audio waveforms even though option is checked

I want to thank you for your reply. I figured out what was happening and
thought you might want to file the information somewhere.
The problem occurred whenever I imported an older legacy project. Even
though it was set to display waveform, it wouldn't do it until after I
closed and reopened the project file.
    Anyway, thanks again!

  • Video app: how to display audio language?

Using Apple's native video app to watch movies on my iPad, I wonder why (if you have a movie with multiple audio tracks) those languages aren't displayed. Say you have a movie with english and french audio track. Now, if you want to chose or change the audio, instead of displaying 'English' and 'French' you only get 'Stereo' and ...'Stereo'.
I remember in former iOS versions, the languages were displayed.
Note: Movies with subtitles, you see the actual subtitle language. To turn subtitles on or off for a movie with english subs, you get 'Off' and 'English' !

Many thanks for your quick and helpful suggestions, but they didn't quite solve my issue.  Bear with me, I'm an FCP7 expert considering making a leap to the dark side.  So far, all looks great in Premiere CC except this one sticking point -- displaying audio and video in separate windows for logging.  Why is that so difficult?
I tried the "Gang Source and Program" technique, which did open  audio in source and video in program, but one of the two playback windows freezes, e.g. if the cursor is in audio (source) the video (in program) is stuck in pause.  I reduced playback quality and size to minimum values, and have a powerful macpro with 12 cores and 24G of ram.  IF there is some setting I'm not using to make both windows play, that would solve my problem.
I don't want to just make the edits in timeline because I would like to create subclips to use and re-use in the future.  Any resulting jump-cuts will be covered with cutaways.
It is handy to be able to see both the audio waveform and the video while editing dialogue -- very easy to do in FCP.

  • Display Audio Waveforms in Timeline, Premiere Pro CC

I have just started using Premiere Pro CC, watched all the turorials, and started a project. I am wondering how to display audio as waveforms in the timeline. I have tried suggestions like checking and unchecking rectify audio waveforms, but have not been able to get actual waveforms in the main timeline. It seems like there used to be disclosure triangles in a previous version, but there are none in this version.

After 35 minutes with Adobe phone support ... this is what we found and resolved the issues (as both A1 and A2 had no sound wave):
    (1) When media files are moved, PR does not know where to find them. We had to extensively search project files (Lynda.com tutorial) to locate some missing files.
         This resolved A1.
    (2) For A2, we right-clicked on the audio track and selected "Render and Replace" ... that resolved the 2nd issue.
Another word of caution ... there is a significant privacy bug at the moment. Even though my forum profile was set to only display my screen name (and only show my account name to myself), the my account name was appearing in this forum. I had to change my personal name on the account in 2 places and then reboot my browser. That fixed the privacy issue to the extent that a bogus personal name is now showing - and my screen name is still missing

  • Summary task displaying entire duration between split tasks

    Hi,
I have two task under one summary task that are each only one day in duration (the one starts and finishes on 3 March, the other starts on 7 April) but the summary task displays a duration of 25 days. How do I make the summary task only count duration as
2 days and not 25 days?
    Thanks, Jaco

    Jaco,
Ben is right, when using Project it is necessary to understand the difference between duration and work, so let me try and give you a quick study.
Duration is simply a span of time. For a summary task, it is the working time from the start of the first subtask through the finish of the last subtask. Duration accomplishes nothing. Duration is not additive.
Work on the other hand is the effort needed by one or more resources to actually accomplish the task. Work is additive. If a single resource is assigned 100% to a task then the duration and work will be the same. I
In your case, if a single resource is assigned to the first task, the duration of that task will be 1 day and the work content will be 8 hours. For the second task, the duration of that task will be 2 days with a work content of 16 hours. The total duration
of both tasks, given the start and finish dates you indicate (assuming a normal standard calendar) is actually 27 days but the total work content of both tasks is 24 hours.
    Hope this helps.

  • X220 Intel Display Audio problem

I received a new X220, and I initially had the same problem getting audio through a displayport to hdmi cable that other users have experienced.  For me it turned out to be the cable.  I got a new adapter and the audio worked great.  As soon as I hooked up the cable, the audio would automatically switch to my TV.  Perfect.
Now, however, I'm having a different problem.  The audio will stop working for apparantely no reason.  I was just playing a movie on VLC with no problems.  Went and did something else, came back and woke the computer from sleep and now the audio no longer works.  When I open my audio playback devices I can see the levels moving, but I hear nothing.  I reboot, unplug the cable from the laptop and the TV.  Nothing works.
I think it may be a problem with the Intel Display Audio drivers because I've had this problem on another laptop before (with a standard hdmi out).  On the old laptop I would uninstall drivers, reinstall, rollback, etc.  Nothing would work.  It would just all of a sudden decide to start working again.
I've been told elsewhere to uncheck any enhancements in the audio properties and to make sure that the selection under the advanced tab, "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device" is unchecked as well.  I still have the problem however.
This is incredibly frustrating.  Does anybody know how to fix this issue?  Thank you.

A Code 10 error is generated in Device Manager in one of the following situations:
    - Device Manager can't start the device.
    - One of the drivers that the device needs does not start.
    - Device Manager has insufficient information to recognize the error that is bubbled up by the device driver.
To resolve the issue follow troubleshooting steps given in below link

  • How to display time duration (NOT dates) with an input mask in a JTable?

Background: I am trying to display in a JTable, in two columns, the start position and time duration of an audio clip.
They are stored as type float internally eg. startPosition = 72.7 seconds.
However I wish to display on screen in the table in HH:mm:ss:S format. eg. 00:01:12:7. The user can edit the cell and input values to update the internal member fields.
Problem: I am finding it very difficult to implement this - what with the interactions of MaskFormatter, DefaultCellEditor etc.
Also using SimpleDateFormat and DateFormatter does not work as they insist on displaying the day, month, year also in the table cell.
Taking the Swing Tutorial TableFTFEditDemo example as a template,
    (http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/uiswing/components/example-1dot4/index.html#TableFTFEditDemo)
does anyone know how to do this?
I can post my (buggy) modifications to the example code - if it would help.
    Appreciate any help.
    thanks,
