  • Source Timecode lost when exporting

    Hi,
    just a quick question:
Hwo do I keep the sourcetimecode of a clip when I export it?
I have a bunch of Red clips which I need to stabilize but when I export them I lose the source timecode of my clips, why?

Thanks Brian... I did, I exported my sss.key into an sss.mov and I could run it 'manually' in QT (clicking on the screen change the slide.. good
In QT Pro, I have an option to export this sss.mov for the web : multi-files
sss.m4v, ReadMe.html, sss-poster.jpg, and sss.mov which is good for testing it embedded into html...
this is where I lost the +manual functionality+....

  • Viewing source timecode in sequence

Could some kind person please remind me whether it is feasible to view the timecode of the source footage once it has been inserted into a sequence.
I am having to the re-lay sync audio in the timeline, and it would help if, when on a clip's in point on the the timeline, I knew exactly where it was on the source footage.
I'm sure I've done this in the past.
    Age!

The Info panel will display the source timecode of every clip in all tracks that fall under the CTI (now playhead).

  • Is there a way to display and export SOURCE timecode in FCP X?

We need to burn DVDs with the SOURCE timecode of our media files displayed.  So far, all we've found is a way to apply a Generator that reflects the PROJECT TC.

Sorry, but this is not possible in FCPX. They didn't include it.

  • Why does Premiere Pro CS5 process audio source before exporting clip in AME CS5?

Hello everyone, my first post here. I am currently trying out the trial CS5 Master Collection on my MacBook Pro. I've been using Premiere Pro CS5 to put together family videos. I select a certain portion of a sequence and queue it for export in Media Encoder CS5 in the format H.264 for iPod with video and audio.
Now in AME I have a queue list of about 5 clips from the sequence. But when I hit the Start Queue button, the bottom left of the progress bar states "Adobe Premiere Pro processing audio source from [then file name]"  for all 5 clips from the sequence then creates the first output file.
Then it moves to encode the second and again states "Adobe Premiere Pro processing audio source from [then file name]"  for all 5 clips of mt sequence then spits out only the second output file.
This continues for the remaining 3 output files. The total sequence length is ~32 minutes with transitions and it takes about 35 minutes to export which is all consumed by the process audio source of the 5 clips in my sequence for 5 separate times.
Is there a certain reason why Media Encoder or Premiere Pro does this process of audio source? Is this process necessary or needed? I experimented with choosing different output formats but the results are the same. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Now that's pretty good follow-up to your first post, and quickly too! Nice detective work.
As you have found, there is basically a Render/Replace operation going on in PrPro, to get the material in the correct form for AME.
Thank you for reporting, as it saved me, and others, from basically saying what you said.
Good luck, and sorry that you beat us to the punch.

In audio post-production a .BWF files is used (broadcast wave file), with all the "audio information" timecode is used to sync with an external video...
To do this kind of export i would need an extrenal hardware to record it... i was trybg to know if you guys have another way os doing it.
I can sync by 1khz, 3/5/10 seconds from start... but with tc ... it would rock on!
    Thank you all...

  • Export Embedded AAF Error - "Cannot embed audio source error number -2147483647"

I have a sequence that I need to send to an audio post house running ProTools. We have agreed to send an AAF for delivery. The sequence I have prepped looks like this:
    - All video and video tracks deleted (except V1);
    - All audio effects & volume removed;
    - All audio transitions removed.
I export the sequence, am presented with a choice to embed the media into the AAF:
It runs and begins to build the AAF but I get this error message: "Cannot embed audio source "/Volume/...." because an error occurred when writing essence data. Premiere ASL error number: -2147483647".
What is causing this error and how can I prevent this from happening? It is very frustrating and causing a lot of trouble.
I should mention that I can export an OMF fine with "encapsulated media".
    Adobe Premiere V7.2.0 (46)
    Mac OS X 10.8.5
    WAV 48kHz 24bit in 1080p @ 25fps Sequence
    BlackMagic Ultra studio Express connected
    Problem occurs with final output.

I have the exact same problem. Did you allready found a solution?
OMF has the 2GB limitation wich makes it hard to use for my project.

  • Quicktime- Match Source Timecode

    Hi,
I’m getting transcripts of footage that I shot and digitized into Final Cut Pro HD. My transcriptor only has a PC so I copied all the quicktime media files onto a PC-compatible hard drive, but I just realized when opening the quicktime files on the PC that the timecode for each media file begins at zero as opposed to the timecode originally on the source tape. Before, when I had a few transcripts done, I would add the clip to my FCP timeline, lay Timecode effect over it, render, export as an mpeg1 with compressor, then burn the mpeg1 file to dvd. This was a time-consuming process that I don’t want to go through again. Now I have dozens of hours of footage I’m getting transcripted, so I need a simple and quick way to have quicktime files with matching source timecode.
    My questions are:
    1. Is source timecode written onto the quicktime file itself, or embedded within FCP files?
    2. Is there an option/preference in quicktime to view source timecode?
    3. What other simple solutions are there to have quicktime files with matching source timecode?
    Thanks,
    Alexander

    1) Source timecode is stored in the Quicktime file as a track. FCP project file then references it.
    2) Yes/No. There are ways of displaying the timecode external to FCP. The excellent Sebsky Tools (free) and also an old Quicktime app from Apple that switches the display flag for the timecode. However, you have to re-export the whole movie to get one with the time code displayed.
3)Don't really understand this. Sorry. Do you mean you want to export from FCP Quicktime files that reference the original timecode? You can do this, but it depends how you do it.
Say if you put a captured clip in a sequence and you export the Sequence then it will have new timecode starting from 00. Since the timecode reflects the sequence itself.
If you trim the clip and right click on the clip itself and export then it will have the timecode of the original captured media starting and ending from the trim points. I.e. not 00.
You can't have a sequence containing multiple trimmed captured media to have timecode reflecting the original media. The timecode would have to jump all over the place. The only way you can do it is burn it in.
If you already know all of this I apologise. Like I said I didn't really understand what you were getting at.

  • My iphone4 recently stopped working in my car and no longer asks for audio sources.  It is paired and turns off the radio when a call occurs but does not utilize the speakers or mic in the car.

My iPhone recently stopped asking for audio source in car and no longer works through the speakers.  It pairs with the vehicles just fine, turns off music, but I must use the actual phone to communicate.  What happened?

The same problem I have today afternoon.
My car audio system is compatible with iPod USB connector and worked fine for also 6 months.
When connecting my iPod nano 6rd gen via USB to car audio system, iPod displays on its screen a sucessfull connection, and music tracks is successfully displayed on the car audio system. But do not play. Switch forward or backward by playlist (by the buttons on the car audio system) works also, but still there is no start playback.
I tried plugged my iPhone 5 via USB to car audio system - it's works fine.
I plugged iPod to my mac computer - itunes says it's all Ok.
I am confused and do not understand what is happening.
May be restoring to default factory settings iPod....

  • Preserving Source Clip Information Upon Export In Premiere

Is there a way to export clips from sequence timeline and preserve source clip metadata?
Example - I have a clip I used warp stabilizer on and I have marked the clip with in/out. Now I would like to export the clip with same clip name and source timecode and hoping there is a setting to do so.
    Thanks, Chris

  • BITC of the source timecode for playout

    Hi,
I was wondering if there was a way in FCP 5 to play out a quicktime file which has BITC of the source timecode so that I can use it to double check with a conform that I will be doing on another system.
I don't know FCP very well so any help you guys may have would be greatfully appreciated. Im not getting handed the laptop with the offline edit until the director returns to the UK on Wednesday so I can't have a play around with it at the moment and am trying to get solutions sorted in my head before that.
    All the best,
    Ian

You can use a filter/generator on the clips that will super their original timecode... then export that as a QT movie.
It's in the video effects, video filters/ video submenu. TC reader...

  • Source Timecode not preserved when making AC3 file

First of all, this is my first time using Compressor so it is very likely that I have overlooked the obvious!
I have created an AC3 Dolby Digital file in 5.1 from 6 wav files.
All has gone well and I can successfully create the file and play it back, when reimported, via the preview window.
My original 6 wav files all contain identical source timecodes.
The resulting AC3 file does not appear to have preserved the source timecode.
The preview window displays the timecode as starting from 00.00.00.00
I have also imported the AC3 file into Final Cut Pro and confirmed that the timecode starts at Zero.
My six original WAV files definitely have timecode.
I cannot find any setting in Compressor that will let me alter the resulting file's timecode.
If anybody could tell me what I have done wrong I would be very grateful.
    Thanks in advance
    Adam

Having done a bit more investigation, I have found that AC3 files can have timecode embedded in them.
Unfortunately Compressor does not preserve the source timecode but writes it's own, starting at 00.00.00.00
Dolby Media Encoder SE (from Dolby) does give you the ability to preserve the source timecode - as do a couple of other programs - but they tend to be very expensive!
I am not sure but I think that Final Cut Pro does not recognise the source timecode of an AC3 file - maybe that's why the option is not given in Compressor ?
    Thanks
    Adam

  • Source timecode

I am having a problem making the source timecode show up in Premiere Pro CC 2014? Not sure what I need to do?

Can you describe what you want to do?
Are you looking for it in the Project Pane, or want to display it in the Viewer, etc.?

  • Quicktime Pro- Source Timecode

I was told that with Quicktime Pro you can view the original source timecode of footage originally captured in Final Cut Pro. Can someone take me step by step as I was given these instructions:
"This works with QT 6.5 PRO on a mac or PC. Open the QT file. Get movie properties. Select the video track from the left drop down and time code from the right drop down. You will see off-tape time displayed."
I tried following these instructions step by step but do not see any "off-tape time" display. I am also unclear what the "left drop down" and "right drop down" are? I've tried these steps with both a mac and pc but it doesn't seem intuitive. I would apppreciate if anyone could give a detailed response.
    Thanks,
    Alexander

Open the captured QuickTime movie in QuickTime Player Pro 6.5. Press Command-J (Mac) or Control-J (Windows). Watch this movie for the next steps...
    http://www.automaticduck.com/screenshots/Windows65.avi
or if you don't have the codec for the AVI watch this MOV...
    http://www.automaticduck.com/screenshots/Windows65.mov
As you scrub through or play the movie the window updates with the timecode.
BTW, I tried this in QuickTime 7 (Mac) and I could not figure out how to display the timecode.

  • Video app: how to display audio language?

Using Apple's native video app to watch movies on my iPad, I wonder why (if you have a movie with multiple audio tracks) those languages aren't displayed. Say you have a movie with english and french audio track. Now, if you want to chose or change the audio, instead of displaying 'English' and 'French' you only get 'Stereo' and ...'Stereo'.
I remember in former iOS versions, the languages were displayed.
Note: Movies with subtitles, you see the actual subtitle language. To turn subtitles on or off for a movie with english subs, you get 'Off' and 'English' !

Many thanks for your quick and helpful suggestions, but they didn't quite solve my issue.  Bear with me, I'm an FCP7 expert considering making a leap to the dark side.  So far, all looks great in Premiere CC except this one sticking point -- displaying audio and video in separate windows for logging.  Why is that so difficult?
I tried the "Gang Source and Program" technique, which did open  audio in source and video in program, but one of the two playback windows freezes, e.g. if the cursor is in audio (source) the video (in program) is stuck in pause.  I reduced playback quality and size to minimum values, and have a powerful macpro with 12 cores and 24G of ram.  IF there is some setting I'm not using to make both windows play, that would solve my problem.
I don't want to just make the edits in timeline because I would like to create subclips to use and re-use in the future.  Any resulting jump-cuts will be covered with cutaways.
It is handy to be able to see both the audio waveform and the video while editing dialogue -- very easy to do in FCP.
