Display Audio Waveforms in Timeline, Premiere Pro CC

I have just started using Premiere Pro CC, watched all the turorials, and started a project. I am wondering how to display audio as waveforms in the timeline. I have tried suggestions like checking and unchecking rectify audio waveforms, but have not been able to get actual waveforms in the main timeline. It seems like there used to be disclosure triangles in a previous version, but there are none in this version.

After 35 minutes with Adobe phone support ... this is what we found and resolved the issues (as both A1 and A2 had no sound wave):
(1) When media files are moved, PR does not know where to find them. We had to extensively search project files (Lynda.com tutorial) to locate some missing files.
     This resolved A1.
(2) For A2, we right-clicked on the audio track and selected "Render and Replace" ... that resolved the 2nd issue.
Another word of caution ... there is a significant privacy bug at the moment. Even though my forum profile was set to only display my screen name (and only show my account name to myself), the my account name was appearing in this forum. I had to change my personal name on the account in 2 places and then reboot my browser. That fixed the privacy issue to the extent that a bogus personal name is now showing - and my screen name is still missing

  • How do I get audio back on single clip that loses audio when imported into Premiere Pro CC?

I've got one clip out of many that for some reason won't play any audio when imported into Premiere Pro.  I am new to Premiere Pro so am hoping it's something stupid I've done, but this is a problem with just a single clip exported the same way as all my others, the original audio is loud (not quiet) and none of the FAQ issues seem to apply (ie I haven't muted the audio or anything stupid like that)
The clip was exported from Plural Eyes into a "master" Premiere Pro project where the audio is fine. I exported it as a short MP4 clip and if I play the clip in Windows Media Player the audio is there loud and clear.
But when I import the clip into a fresh Preimiere Pro CC project this clip appears with just the "film strip" icon on the far left in the Timeline panel, unlike other clips which have an icon that shows "film strip" in the background and "audio wave" in the foreground.
I'm hitting so many glitches with the CC editions of Premiere Pro and After Effects which have annoying inconsistencies between them I'm tempted to just go back to Sony Vegas Pro (single program, no hassle) but hoping most of these issues are down to "newbie incompetence". Very hard to understand why this one clip out of many should be giving me this specific problem though. Any ideas?

I'm getting so many weird results. Most go away by simply closing the project and re-opening and I only have 6GB memory but even so, I'm disappointed by what I thought was supposed to be more "world class" video editing software than Sony Vegas Pro which I found to be a lot more stable. Also struggling with differences between Premiere and After Effects. Every time I want to do something in Pro I seem to need to go to After Effects and vice-versa. After Effects lets me do more of what I could "just do" in Vegas Pro timeline, but it's hideous for lining up audio and having to render anything in RAM to even get a clue as to what a change has done.  Need to add Audition to the long list as well I suspect. Fun times!

How do I display Hungarian fonts in the Premiere Pro CS6 PremierePro Titler ?

    Windows or Mac?
As far as I know for Windows, any "well designed" Truetype font will work in all Windows programs... BUT... not all fonts are well designed, so not all fonts work in all programs

  • PR CC doesn't display audio waveforms even though option is checked

PR CC doesn't display audio waveforms even though option is checked

I want to thank you for your reply. I figured out what was happening and
thought you might want to file the information somewhere.
The problem occurred whenever I imported an older legacy project. Even
though it was set to display waveform, it wouldn't do it until after I
closed and reopened the project file.
    Anyway, thanks again!

  • How to turn on audio waveform in timeline in Premiere Pro CC

I'm not sure why I'm not getting a clear answer for this question, but can anyone help me out here? In Premiere CS6, all I had to do was press the little arrow next to my timeline and I could see the audio waveform. The arrow is no longer in CC and I can't figure out how else to turn this on. I use this feature constantly so it's quite inconvenient not to have it on.

This seems like a bug to me. My audio was doing the same thing. I imported a clip from an HD camera. Dragged it onto my sequence timeline and the audio showed as a solid blue bar.
I couldn't see my audio waveform until I took the yellow scrubber and dragged it back and forth across the whole sequence. Then the audio wave started to appear. It was very confusing because I had one other camera clip on the audio track below this one and it showed fine.
Then, it still disappears while playing, but shows while its paused...very odd.
    While playing:
    While paused:
    UPDATE:
    My fix was to
    1. Alt+Click the audio portion of the clip to select just the audio.
    2. Go to Clip>Audio Options>Audio Gain
    3. HIt ok, Premiere then rendered my audio properly....odd. BTW, this clip was captured by premiere, so rendering audio wasn't an option. But as soon as I went to the audio options, it suddenly built the waveform peaks.

  • Audio-Problem with Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014 by using long Clips in AVC-Intra Codec (4Gb Border)

    Hello
We own a Panasonic camera (AJ-PX5000G) and we film in 1080p50 with the AVC-Intra100 Codec. When importing longer clips in Premiere Pro, the video is fully loaded, but the waveform of the sound ends at the Time Code 00:02:28:35.
Sometimes the sound could be played after this Timecode but otherwise there is no audio. Even if we use the same clip several times we see that it works sometimes and sometimes not. It looks random.
We also tried to import the Clips with Adobe Prelude directly from the P2-Card but there are the same problems.
The Clips in 1080p50 AVC-Intra100 have a bitrate of 227Mbps. After 2 Minutes and 28 Seconds 4Gb are written on the P2-Card and the Camera starts a new picture file and 4 sound files..
It looks like Adobe Premiere Pro has problems with the correct relation of the files that all get together to one clip.
Is there anybody who can confirm this problem? Can anybody help me with this Premiere Problem?

  • Audio disappearing in Adobe Premiere Pro CS6

So this is a weird one, but since I'm new to Premiere Pro maybe it'll be an easy fix?
I imported several clips in the same batch that were recorded on the same camera with the same settings (same hour, even). I mark a clip in and out and drag it into the sequence. I then go to do the same to another clip, but the audio on that clip has now disappeared. There isn't even a waveform. I tried to troubleshoot this by reimporting the clips and even making a new project. With the new project it fixed the problem for maybe a minute and then it started happening again.
This is using software on a school computer so reinstalling, etc. is not an option.
Thanks in advance for any help you guys can provide!

No. You will not find any Master Track Keyframes. These will be on the Audio Track, and will be attached to the Track, regardless of what Clip you have there. Here is a look at Track Keyframes, not to be confused with Clip Keyframes from PrPro 2.0:
Hope that this helps and good luck,

  • Audio Channel Mapping in Premiere Pro CS6

I am using Premiere Pro CS6 6.0.5. Double clicking on an imported 5.1 ac3 file in my bin brings up the 6 channels in waveform in Source panel. The channels are mapped L,R,Ls,Rs,C,LFE. This does not conform to Dolby Digital standard L,R,C,LFE,LS,RS. I have tried to set the channles this way in Audio Output Mapping in Preferences to no avail.
Question 1.-Is there a way to change the mapping to conform to Dolby Digital?
Question 2.- I use the Surcode plug-in. Will Surcode automatically map the channels properly upon export?
    Thanks!

    Hi DAC1x,
Have you tried to modify the audio channels from the project panel. If not, please try the steps and check if it helps
In the Project panel, select the clip or clips you want to map.
Select Clip > Modify > Audio Channels.
    Under Track Format, click 5.1

  • Audio rendering problems in Premiere Pro CC 2014

    Hi
I'm rendering a very small project in Premiere Pro (just some cut and music). I tried to render it in H.264 but when I open it in windows media player there is no audio, when I copy it to my mobile phone I can't hear the audio neither. When I import the rendered file into premiere I can see the audio waveform. When I render the project in mpeg I can here the audio and when I clik the "match sequence settings" button I can hear it to (AVI) but I need H.264. What is the problem or what am I doing wrong.
    Thanks in Advance
    Michiel

Windows Media Player sucks.  That's about the best 'why' I have for that.
I don't own a smart phone, so I can't help with that one.  (I'm one of those old fashioned types who only uses a phone to make phone calls, and the proper tool for all the other activities the 'phone' has co-opted lately - like a computer for playing back computer media files. )

  • How do I keep 24/96 audio quality in CS6 Premiere Pro?

Another rook question here:  I record audio in 24/96.  How do I make sure to maximize the quality and keep the 24/96 when I import audio into Premiere Pro for editing, and also when I export (assuming I'm exporting to a high data rate 444 codec)?

I guess that what you do need to know is that Premiere can actually Export Audio at 24/96.
It can also do that with various "movie exports" as well. (Video/ audio streams)
Check them out in Adobe Media Encoder settings.
What you need to decide is if these "exports  " fit your workflow plan as regards Mastering ..then distribution / display.
You should be running tests on this anyway - especially seeing you are running dble system sound system and have a major synching exercise ahead of you as well
If  you mix a master 24/96 audio outside of Premiere...you should be able to use that in a sequence for mastering from but I think it will conform for previewing.
    Plan...test...test..test
If you want to really know what i think.  ....24/96 is over kill and you wont here the difference considering your intentions  ( but does not hurt to have up your sleeve and the audio guys may be grateful if they have a heapof work to do on it)
Are your mics up to it..considering you are shooting on a DSLR???

  • Why would my entire iMac lose audio from working in Premiere Pro?

When using Premiere Pro, my iMac lost all audio several times in a row. The action that kept causing this malfunction was pulling audio from the Source Moniter into my timeline. The audio clip is a .wav file and is mono, if those details help. The only thing that brings my audio back is restarting the computer. I've gone into my sys prefs for audio and nothing there helps. What could be causing this?

    Hi,
    Could be problematic clip.
Try with a different wav file and see if you can reproduce the issue.
Also test issue with the same wave file in a new project.
    Good luck,

  • Displaying audio waveforms in viewer alongside composite video

I know you can switch, in the Source Viewer, from Composite Video to Audio Waveform - but is there any way to view BOTH at the same time, similar to how FCPX works? Basically I want to be able to scrub the Audio Waveform timeline, but be able to watch the Composite Video at the same time. Any ideas? Thanks.
Reference image (FCP X on left, Premiere on right):

I read recently that if you have a second monitor connected via Transmit, then you can watch the video there and view the audio waveforrm or scopes in the main PPRO UI.

  • Bad Header error importing Audio from Audition to Premiere Pro

    Hey guys,
I'm not sure if anyone is experiencing a problem like this below, but recently, I have been up in arms trying to export a 90-minute feature film's audio (Ch. 1=Dialogue - Ch. 2=M+E - 5.1 Surround Mix) in a .wav file format, and every time I try to export it out, it PLAYS in Quicktime player, but it WON'T import into Premiere Pro (citing BAD HEADER ERROR) in file.  I basically tried to utilize every file format there is for audio and such, but nothing is working (including .aif, but it kept cutting out at 13mins into the show).  I separated the dialogue music and sfx in 3 submixes, but I needed to combine the Music and Submix into 1 submix to have ONE DIALOGUE Submix, and ONE M+E submix for our distributors.  Any help to fix this would be great.

    Paul,
Sorry to hear about the PC -> Mac problem. Old 6.5 Mac Project opened fine in CS2 PC, after I added the file extensions.
As for the AVI, Curt is correct. There should be a utility for the Mac, like G-Spot, which will tell you everything about your AVI file. Unfortunatly, I do not know if G-Spot is ported for the Mac (www.headbands.com/gspot), so you might need to find similar for you platform. You can then identify the necessary CODEC and install it.
Last, you should be able to find an edit-shop that has CS3 on PC and get them to Import the old Project, then Export it in CS3, so you can open it on your Mac. If not a commercial shop, then maybe a friend with CS3 on PC? Next best thing might be to find a Mac with Premiere 6/6.5 (last Mac version, prior to CS3 ?) and try that route.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
