Display blanks and reappears

I have a MAC mini and have a Princeton 19" monitor using the DVI connector. I loaded Tiger about a month ago, but have noticed that recently the display has been blanking. The display totally goes black for a couple of seconds and then comes back. I'm running it at 1280x1024.
I guess I'm wondering if this is a known Tiger problem or is my mini video adapter or monitor going out?
Anyone have ideas on how to debug this problem?

Which has happened in Tiger and Panther. It may or may not have happened again today, i wasn't actually looking, it may have just gone to sleep unexpectedly... Although it had only just woken up...
In which case it's a mini problem in general.. I'd say definitely phone applecare, they need to know about this stuff...

the subject says it all.
brand new t520 with optimus (nvidia+intel) display adapter, 1920x1080 screen.
whenever i plus in or unplug power, the display blanks for about 2 seconds, then flashes back on.
the problem occurs whether the bios setting is integrated, dicrete, or optimus, and th problem occurs even if the display settings are the same in power profile for AC and battery.
is this normal? it is very BAD.

hey ghoffman,
uninstall the current graphic driver that you have. let windows install its own generic drivers.
once generic driver has been installed, test again and see if the problem occurs. If it does not, continue by going to our support site via http://support.lenovo.com
download the latest graphic driver for your unit, install it and test again.

settigns>itunes and app store to make sure you are signed in.. If you are, you will see your account name..... anyhow, click your account name, sign out and sign back in
also go to to settings>general>reset and reset network settings... if that doesnt work settings>general>reset and reset all settings!
one of those shall work. The last step would be to restore your device (apple.com/support) HT1414

Hp Photosmart C6180 display is blank and no lights

Hp photosmart C6180 display is blank and the console lights do not light up.
windows 7 64bit, 12 gig i7 3400 2-60gb ssd,raid 0 ,3 sata 6 drives ,dvd
i was having color issues not printing,magenta will not print,new cartridges tried, cleaned through hp software,still no difference.
Unplugged printer to move to desk, code came up improper shut down,would not respond to any input from panel or pc through software.
unplugged and let it set for 3 minutes plugged in again restarted screen came up and froze in the default ready to print screen. console would not respond to any inputs even the power button.
Unplugged again using the attempted the hard reset as mentioned on the community boards holding the power button.
Printer started no display,ran a print job no problem, color picture no problem, no magenta still but it did print from pc. Console has no lights on. power button will not respond.
Tried the # 6 button hold unplugg and replug routine.nothing same results.
dismantled the side to unplug the logic board and remove cmos battery and let it set for an hour. reinstalled noting that none of the capacitors looked bulged anywhere on the board.
Plugged power supply in lights up at connector, plug into printer ,no lights after a few seconds the printer goes into self test and sits there no display ,no lights on. Tried to print diagnostics, printed everything but magenta band of color , software shows no problems.
aside from taking the printer apart and using boiling hot water to clean the magenta print head circuit, what happened to the display? what can i do now with out spending more thanthan this is worth? i have some technical skills so time is not a problem.
i do have a new email address as well so please let me know in this forum, i will change default address asap.

Unfortunately, it sounds like the hardware has failed. I can't recommend any other solutions that you haven't already tried. The next step would be to service or replace your printer.
Service:

Create a play list that you wish to burn. Select playlist, the file from main menu which gives to an option to burn the playlist. A pop up box appears allowing you to select burn speed and disc format.

I already defined table and field names as mentioned by you .
Also i checked FAGLPOSYEXT structure the two fields were appearing as it was not there previously.
When i checked by running FAGLL03 , the fields customer and vendor were appearing blank only.
Also i tried by executing the report BALVBUFDEL - for buffer reset.
Kindly give me any suggestions how to rectify this .

How to display values and new char line (blank line)

Hi,
In database, one field contains values followed by new character lines (blank lines) after blank lines there is no values. Finally, I would say the field contains values and blank lines. Every thing is fine in database.
In Crystal Reports the field is displaying only values. Need to display values and blank line.
User is asking after values new character lines (blank line) to be shown. They enter like that in an application. The user doubt is why report is not showing what they enter in the application.
In detail explanation, front end tool is ASP.NET and backend is SQL Server.
User enter some values in note field, after that they hit enter button in the same field, cursor will go next line...user may hit u2018enter buttonu2019 more than 5 times. So note field contain values and some blank lines which are created by after hitting enter button.
If user opens the application, they could see values plus blank lines in the note field.
They are fine with the application.
In Crystal Reports, the note field shows only values.
User is questioning that why we could not see in report we enter.
I checked in .Net application and SQL server database it is fine. It is displaying values and blank line.
Please help me out how to display values followed by blank lines in Crystal Reports - the way they enter in the application.

I would like to explain again.
it is not exactly null values.
In .Net application it is called 'new char line'.
it shows those many lines look like null.
it is working fine in database.
Why it is not working in Crystal Reports? I am wondering...

User may enter any number of blank lines or they may not enter blank lines.
That is the reason I can not always give more height or blank text object.

Thanks that was very helpful info. I was able to boot into the recovery disk partition and run some basic HD tests and it found no issues. Then I booted into the hardware test and it found no issues. After these tests it still failed to boot into Mavericks. I'm guessing its a software issue and I can not find the original computer disk. I have a time machine backup from 2 months ago and I could use the disk utility on the recovery sector to launch it but I want to wait and see if I can boot from a software DVD first. If I can repair the current OS that is my best option.

iPhones do not have an international warranty. Warranty is valid only for the country of purchase. This is most likely because different countries require different iPhone models. Not reasonable to expect all countries to maintain stock for all models.

If your MBP is under warranty, bring it to an Apple store and have the technicians fix it. If not, try the steps in this support article:

LCD is lit, blank and gray, secondary Apple display works.

My PowerBook LCD is lit up, but blank and gray and when I hook up a second monitor that second monitor works fine.
I tried resetting the PRAM, but that didn't fix my issue. If I leave the machine idle, the LCD monitor even dims like it's going to sleep, but I can't get anything to show up on it. The Monitor preferences shows both displays and I can move windows over to the LCD, but nothing shows up on the LCD.
Any advice, do I need to replace the LCD or can I replace the problem part without purchasing a new LCD? Is it a software or hardware issue? Should I just go to the Genius Bar?

if you read my post on this board i was having very similar problems.
i did a huge amount of research and tried out a lot of 'software' things - nothing worked.
then i started to read about what actually controls the backlight / lcd - and found it was something called an 'inverter board'. i had that tested at an apple approved specialist and it was the culprit - thankfully they had one in stock and replaced it, and it was fairly cheap! the cost of a new logic board or lcd would just have been to high - would make more economic sense to continue using it with an external lcd then upgrading at a later date.
so - check the inverter board!! call apple - if you dont have an apple store close to you, they will be able to tell you where you can find a specialist approved by apple.

Problem.

After a random amount of time, usialy a fiew minutes after the computer starts, the display turns of.
This happens in the BIOS menu, the live arch tty, arch tty and gnome.
This does not happen if i boot into windows or a Ubutu live cd.
When the display blanks out in a tty i am still able to interact with it, eg: if i blindly type 'reboot[enter]' the stystem reboots, ore 'man[space]ls[up][up]' computer peeps.
When the display blanks out in Gnome the keyboard gets disabled aswell.
I am able to ssh into the computer if it blanks out while i am runnig arch.
When the computer blanks out nothing but a hardware shutdown and restart seams to turn on the dispaly again. doing a reboot comand (while blanked out) thorugh ssh causes the computer to reboot but the display is still disabled after the reboot.

It might be some motherbord fiture that blanks out the screen, what is curious though is thet Windows and Ubuntu never blankout, not even temporarely. So there must be somthing that can be done from the OS side.
Another weird thing is that I would exect it to blank out when the user input is inactive if it was a pawer saving fiture, but it usialy blanks out while i am typing.
I am grateful for all the help I can get.

IPhone 4 wont start. Screen remains blank and buttons are unresponsive unless its connected to mains or PC, when an Apple LOGO appears. Only on mains displays IOS 6, update, connect to iTunes. On connecting to PC just displays apple logo on and off.

Only on mains occasionaly proceeds to display IOS 6 logo and a slide sign to start recovery which proceeds to an instruction to connect to iTunes. Hwever, as soon as disconnected from mains (in order to connect to the PC) screen goes totally blank again. On connecting to PC the Apple LOGO starts appearing intermittently but does not proceed to display IOS 6 LOGO. I have recharged overnight and followed resetting instructions as per the iPhone support page. Any suggestions (short of taking it to a service centre) ?

With those symptoms, I'd try the following document:

(If there's a SpeedBit LSP showing up in Autoruns, it's usually best to just uninstall your SpeedBit Video Accelerator.)

Imac 21.5 (ver 10.6.8) Display flickers and it goes blank

Display flickers and its brightness automatically increases and decreases intermittently. After some time the Display goes blank and it doesn't appear even after pressing the power button or restarting the PC. At times it does appear after pressing the power button frequently or if the PC is left ON for some time. I am using software ver 10.6.8. Want to whether this problem will be resolved after upgrading it to Mavericks. But I am worried that during the downloading if the display goes off and if I have to restart the PC then I will have to start the downloading from the beginning. Please suggest.

If you live near an Apple Store, make a Genius Bar appointment to have the computer tested. Supposedly there is no charge for testing. Use 2nd link if not near an Apple Store or aren’t in the US.
