Display bug in DW CS5
Stats: Running DW CS5 v11.0 Buld 4964 on an iMac 2.8 GHz Interl Core i5 under Mac OSX 10.8.2.
Symptom: Design view cropped on left side of page.
Every page I display now in DW is cropped along the left edge. I have tried the hand tool to shift the image, along with every display modification I can think of (starting with display width). No joy.
The wierdest thing is that this bug persists when I use DW's Show in Browser function.
I should mention that I just got a nasty bit of misbehavior saving a page just before this display bug showed up. It seemed like DW was garbling display and/or having memory problems.
I have restarted the app. Problem persisted. Time to uninstall DW and reload? Anyone seen or heard of anything like this?
Richard Hurley
Grass Valley Multimedia
Thanks, Nancy.
I deleted the cache, and then I deleted the containing folder. No joy.
Here's the wierdest thing of all. When I open the development site files (on my computer) in Firefox, and the same problem appears. The left side of every page I open isn't visible! I can't imagine any scenario where this should be happening.
Just did some more testing. I can read files correctly from another site on my computer from DW! So the problem seems restricted to files opened from one particular site folder on my development machine.
I am completely baffled. Any thoughts at all would be hugely welcome!

Photoshop CS4 Menu toolbar display bug and fullscreen slowness...
http://img384.imageshack.us/img384/8202/menutoolsbugee3.gif
I'm having a display bug with the menu toolbar in Photoshop CS4 Extended. Notice the area of tools is gone and replaced by random pixels? This happens whenever I enter the fullscreen mode that hides the interface. And when I exit that fullscreen mode, that bug appears and doesn't fix itself until I restart Photoshop. Can this be fixed?
Image view rotation also happens much slower than normal in that fullscreen mode when interface is hidden. But performs normally after I bring back the interface.
I'm on WinXP, Athlon 64 4000+, 3GB ram, GeForce 6800 GT video card [driver 169.21]. I'm not sure if this is a video driver bug or CS4 bug.Yeah, Dave, I can understand how that can happen. I've seen that sort of weirdness when I've seriously overtaxed my hardware.
<br />
<br />Had way too much running all at once yesterday, switched over to Firefox, and clicking on folders in the Bookmarks bar, I had 4 bookmark/folder menus dropped simultaneously.
<br />
<br />I managed to grab a screenshot with 2 of them showing, but man! You shoulda seen it with 4!
<br />
<br />I ESC'ed out, quit GarageBand (had a song project of several hundred MB going) and all was fixed.

Minor display bug in JDev 11g "View Annotation" with Subversion
Hi all,
A very minor visual display issue with the "View Annotations" feature of JDev 11g when using a Subversion repository. To reproduce, simply follow these steps:
1). Open up any source file and right-click in the editor; select Versioning -> View Annotation. The annotations will be shown, and if you right-click again, you will see a check-mark next to the "View Annotation" menu item.
2). Open another source file. Annotations are not shown. Right-click in the editor; you will see that "View Annotation" menu item displays a check-mark (even though annotations are not shown). Select Versioning -> View Annotation. Annotations are now shown, but you will see the check-mark is no longer displayed.
To summarize my analysis; it appears that "View Annotation" was intended to be a global setting (as indicated by the check-mark), but is actually implemented on a file-by-file basis. Obviously a very minor display bug not affecting functionality, but a bug nonetheless.

Odd desktop/display bug - how to reset user display settings?
Greetings all,
I woke up yesterday morning to a puzzling problem with my G5. I logged in and started working - and I needed to use the windows remote desktop client to shell into a machine at work. I noticed that the fonts looked sort of funny (randomly quished) so I logged out and then back in. Then I noticed that the problem was not in the RDC display, but in the display of my mac.
This is sort of hard to describe w/out actually seeing it, but here goes...
When I move my mouse across the desktop (or what ever apps I have open) and the mouse pointer moves across and invisible (yet perceptible) line on my screen real estate, my background, icons, parts of displayed apps and fonts "shift". This causes fonts in the affected are to get messed up and causes general display irritation. That's the best way I can describe it, it's sort of a "you have to see it" problem. I will also note that this problem did not arise after an update or a software install or weird crash. Just another day.
So first I tried messing with my display settings (change resolution, color profiles, setting the background to a solid color, turning off screen saver). Rebooting. Nothing. Still there.
So next I log into another account (the root account). Ah ha! No display problems! Tried creating another user-level account. No problems there either. Now we're getting somewhere - it's something that is effecting my main user account and not a problem with my monitor, video card or OS. That's good.
So since then I've tried:
- Grooming the disc that my home directory lives on with DiskWarrior.
- Repaired permissions.
- Deleting the contents of home/Library/Fonts in case it's some funky font rendering issue causing this.
- Deleted the contents of home/Library/Preferences/MicroSoft to get any of its potential badness out of my life.
- Scanning with FontDoctor looking for bad fonts.
- Deleted my desktop and finder plist files.
- General maintenance and cache cleaning (including the MS font cache) with Onyx.
- Booting to Safe Mode.
Nothing. The display problem persists afflicting that one user account. All other accounts (root, and a second user-level account residing on the same disc) are free of these problems even though they are all using the same display settings (monitor, resolution, color profiles, etc). And as already noted, this problem was not "brought on" by anything like an update, installation, preferences modification or fatal seeming crash of an app.
So, my question to all you good people is: what am I missing, what might be causing this and what else can be scrubbed from that account (cache, plist files, etc etc) that might be harboring and causing this display bug? I would really rather solve this problem than go through the very very arduous task of moving all of my stuff to another account (an option, but a very unattractive one).
I was not a mac user during the OS 9 days, but I remember my co-workers doing the "rebuilding the desktop" dance. I realize that this is no longer an issue, but I guess I'm looking for something like that. I need to remove any and everything from my user account that has anything to do with display and font rendering since it's obviously some setting lurking in that account causing the issue.
I googled and searched the forums for this yesterday but could not come up with anything like it and all of the maintenance tasks I tried have not worked.
Any ideas?
Cheers,
Monte
G5 Mac OS X (10.4.9)Hi.
What kind of G5 do you have? An iMac or a PowerMac?
A PowerMac.
If you own a PowerMac, you'd better take a look (o
try with another one) at the DVI cable connecting the
display.
I did check my connections, but also, why would a faulty DVI cable only cause problems with a single user account and none of the others?
If you want to reset the display settings, start in
Safe Mode, and trash these files:
/Library/Preferences/com.apple.windowserver.plist
/Users/yourusername/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.a
pple.windowserver.some_number.plist
If I were at home now, I would try and report back. But I'm not. I'll definitely give it a try as soon as I can. Thanks for the pointer!
Cheers,

IPhoto - Hidden Photos - Events Thumbnail Display Bug
_*iPhoto - Hidden Photos - Events Thumbnail Display Bug*_
iPhoto 08 contains a bug affecting the display of images that the user has marked as "hidden." Specifically, when the user toggles the View-Hidden Photos menu option, the Library-Events thumbnail view does not refresh quickly or reliably to show or hide Events containing "hidden photos."
Sometimes all "hidden" photos remain visible when they should be hidden.
Sometimes all "hidden" photos remain INvisible when they should be visible.
This affects the Event thumbnail "key photo" if this photo was designated as hidden.
This also affects any hidden Event photos when the user "skims" over an Event thumbnail to preview its contents.
The issue is isolated to Events thumbnails. The problem does not exist:
a) while browsing thumbnails inside a specific Event.
b) while browsing photos in Library-Photos.
c) while browsing photos in an Album.
_*"Fixes" that do NOT work:*_
Software updates... I have the latest version of OSX 10.5.2 and the latest version of iPhoto 08, including all the recent security and graphics system updates as of 02/16/2008.
Maintenance... The issue is NOT resolved by rebuilding the database, rebuilding icons, or deleting the iPhoto preferences file. The issue can be reproduced in a separate user account after creating a new event in an otherwise empty iPhoto database.
After much tinkering around, the following is the closest I've come to a
_*TEMPORARY WORKAROUND:*_
To *NOT DISPLAY* hidden images, go to the View menu and make sure Hidden Photos *is not* checked. Restart iPhoto, and the hidden images should now be invisible.
To DISPLAY hidden images, go to the View menu and make sure Hidden Photos is checked. While the hidden images are now visible elsewhere, they may still be invisible in Events thumbnails, so restart iPhoto, and then wait about 10 seconds for the Events view to refresh with all the hidden thumbnail images now visible.
If after carefully reading this you feel you have a definitive solution, please post a reply with your suggestions. Otherwise, please post to confirm if you can reproduce the problem on your computer running iPhoto 08 on Leopard. If so, please also file an official bug report with Apple. The more people report this, the faster we'll get it fix.
.My Acrobat Pro 9 has also this bug. I am using XP SP2. I have reported this bug at Adobe web site many times. I wrote to the Adobe customer care. I wrote about this on many different forums and I was hopping an update with this bug fixed. I installed all updates till now bu the problem still exists. I do not know why Adobe is not caring about this stupid bug. It is really, really annoying. In my experience with Adobe Acrobat for about 10 years, Acrobat version 9 is the worst version I ever worked with. There are a lot of glitches and bugs in it, expecially with fonts, web version creation, password protection encryption etc etc.
If you find any fix please post back on this forum.
Many thanks,

Aperture 3 Display Bug and Export to Flickr Bug
Has anyone else experienced this issue, and if so what systems do you have and what graphics card are you using?
The issue is the way images are displayed in Aperture. There seems to have been a change in the anti-aliasing between 2 and 3 so than now images with strong highlights display nasty aliasing artefacts and black ringing around highlight edges. It's as if Images are being over-sharpened. Also, when you first move to an Image it displays perfectly fine while it’s loading then when it’s finished it pops into the over sharp aliased version.
I'm having this issue on my iMac 24" running a ATI RadeonHD2600. It seems to only show when the onscreen display is zoomed out to 25% or less. If you go to fullscreen the artefacts disappear on landscape oriented images but remain on portrait. If you zoom in, once you pass a certain zoom factor they disappear.
I have posted some samples of the artefacts here - as well as what they should look like.
http://www.thomas-fitzgerald.net/2010/04/28/aperture-3-is-really-ticking-me-off/
and here
http://theapertureblog.com/2010/03/29/aperture-display-bug/
The bigger issue is that when exporting using the built in fickr tool it uses the same antialiasing and so over sharpens and degrades images the same way.
The problem is not always apparent and it really only shows with images containing high contrast areas, particularly if they clip to white. I would really like to know if this is limited to certain graphics cards as I've talked to someone who has this issue when using the faster gfx card on their macbook pro but not when they turn on the slower one.
If I need to upgrade my mac to make this issue go away then so be it but I'd really like to hear form others who may have seen it?I have had issues with Aperture's anti-aliasing performance in the Viewer since version 1.5.
To summarize, Aperture's Viewer produces quite jagged edges from Canon RAW files compared to Preview's and Lightroom's renderings of the exact same files. There doesn't seem to be any radical improvements with the 3.x upgrades, and aliasing performance didn't seem to be affected by the updates to Apple's Canon RAW converter (I reprocessed). Images that I had a problem with are still problematic.
I thought that [this thread|http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=669881&tstart=0] referring to Aperture 1.5 laid out the issues pretty clearly and I was surprised at how little other users were affected by it (or so I infer from the number of responses.)
Until your post I had not looked specifically at Aperture 3.x. I haven't been able to exactly reproduce the issues I had (so many versions ago...) in Aperture 1.5 and it seems the situation has improved a bit.
Aperture still produces a much sharper rendering than Preview, though the aliased edges are not as prominent. To recap from Aperture 1.5:
And here's what I see in Aperture 3 on the same image:
Which looks about the same to me on near-horizontal lines, but much better on the high-contrast vertical lines (check upper left corner of the frame).
And today's Preview 5.0.2 rendering of the RAW image is even softer and less contrast-y than back in the day:

Having the same text resize bugs in Fireworks CS5
Yes, that's right, the same terrible resizing bugs, that I have complained about directly to Adobe MULTIPLE times have not been fixed.
Now we are told there is no patch coming to windows for CS4. Problem still happening. And its not just me.
So now I downloaded CS5 and HAD THE SAME ISSUES!
Seriously Adobe, sort yourselves out.
At my blog here, you can see it well documented. Literally the same issue I have occasionally with CS4. UNBELIEVABLY.
http://allaboutchris.co.uk/blog/2010/bugs-in-fireworks-cs5/
Adobe, when is it getting fixed?I don't have any problem resizing the text with the Scale tool as long as I hold down the Control or shift key while pulling at a corner with the double arrow cursor. If you pull vertically or horizontally you get just the kind of distortion I'd expect. That's not a bug.

Logic "Scroll in Play" Display Bug
Logic is exhibiting a mild yet very annoying display bug. I first reported it on Jan. 12, 2010 here:
http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=10892868#10892868
I am still plagued by this problem on my 8-core, 3GHz Mac Pro. I was about to purchase a new video card hoping that would cure it. Now, however, after trying it on a different Mac (dual core iMac), I was able to reproduce the problem. It's a Logic bug; not a problem with my hardware.
The problem, specifically, occurs when "Scroll in Play" is enabled and a multi-track tune is played (I'm using all MIDI tracks). Every so often (perhaps every 10 bars), some artifacts appear on the display. They appear to be image fragments that were somehow improperly reproduced. Below is an example.
Note that part of the bar number is improperly reproduced. Now, I have seen this bug on both a Mac Pro and a dual-core iMac. I certainly would like to see this problem fixed.Pete_in_Denver wrote:

I have noticed this most while tracking/recording (and not editing) - is there a way around that? Frankly, it FEELS like a bug - I turn it on, it turns itself off again - REPEAT.
Thaks for the response by the way!
You're welcome, Pete.
What I meant is: the turning-off-when-editing is by design, the turning-off-when-touching-nothing is a bug, and the only thing that works for me is to zoom out the affected window a little. -
Old Sample Rate Display Bug Rears Ugly Head in Logic 7
This bug has been around since Logic 4. I see it now in 7.1.1... (RANT: This drives me absolutely nuts, especially when trying to troubleshoot clocking problems.)
OK, my system = Logic 7, MOTU 424 PCI card connected to old MOTU 2408
1) Boot Logic (autoload song is saved at 48 KHz sampling rate)
2) Select File/Song Settings/Syncronization, then select the Audio tab
3) The sampling rate shown in this window is 44.1 (should say 48, yes?)
4) With that window still visible, change the sample rate to 44.1 (via Audio/Sample Rate menu item). Sample rate display doesn't change (appears correctly).
5) Now change the sample rate back to 48K. Sample rate display now shows 48K, but with about an -8% deviation.
Basically, Logic never shows the 48K sampling rate correctly in this window -- it always displays this deviation.
I can confirm this is a display bug, since a 44.1 file and a 48K file loaded into the same session will play back correctly at their respective sample rates.
Has anyone else seen this?bump...
Would like to know if anyone else sees the above-described behavior. Cheers! -
Graphic display bug on MSI GS70 2PE Stealth Pro
Hello,
I have a graphic display bug that appears every now and then... Most of the times, it only lasts a few seconds, but sometimes it hangs bugged and I have to reboot the laptop.
I would have like to post a picture of my screen when it's corrupted, but I can't find how to join a .jpg to my message, and I'm not allowed to post an external link neither!
I have updated my drivers; both for the GTX 870M and the Intel HD Graphics chipset... but to no avail!
I hope someone will be able to help me solve the problem!
Thanks in advance!Yes, the FAQ is for Apache not the stealth, just wonder if you experience the same problem. Anyway, try to unchecked the exclusive mode under advanced tab of microphone properties and chat with your friend in game again. Hop this could help you out. I google for a while and one guy fixed it up by unchecked the exclusive mode. Do not know if this applies to you since I unchecked it and chatted with my friend by skype, he barely heard me. But it would be ok if I ticked off exclusive mode. Strange.

Strange Display Bug - Photoshop CS5 64bit
I have an issue where a portion of my screen extending from the top left corner displays images in Photoshop just a little differently than the rest of the screen. You can see how it looks in these screenshots (I was a little surprised the screenshots captured the bug). These are screens of a photoshop document filled with one color, not the two shades it appears to be.
http://i.imgur.com/RzWei.png
http://imgur.com/NadQA
This bug doesn't appear except in Photoshop. As you can tell it's always the same part of the screen. Except somehow Photoshop briefly 'remembers' where the image bug is when I drag it around with the hand too. Eventually it goes back to the original spot or it will reset to there when I zoom or do something to the image. You can see in the screens how that works.
I have tried clearing out the settings files.
Reinstalling Photoshop.
Updated display drivers.
I connected to the monitor to another computer and ran Photoshop from that one (no bug).
I attached another monitor to this computer - no bug with that monitor. Strangely, it seemed to take a few minutes to reappear after I reattached my other monitor again. I thought it had gone away at first.
I've done some searching around the web and the forums but can't seem to find the right answers. It would be great is someone had some ideas on what's going on. This problem is driving me batty. Thanks much.
My screen is a Dell U2711.

Hm, seems to stop exactly halfway across, left to right, and in a 5:4 ratio.
Looks like a pretty big display... What's the pixel resolution of your monitor? Does it use a dual-link DVI connection?
Do you have any desktop management software active that does things like expand the desktop or provide multiple / virtual desktops? I'm trying to guess at whether something might be causing the system metrics to be reported wrongly.
Just on a hunch, try this: Choose Edit - Preferences - Performance, click the [Advanced Settings...] button, and change the OpenGL Mode to Basic.
If no change, does the problem go away if you uncheck [ ] Use OpenGL Drawing entirely?

Flash CS5.5 Display Bug
Have just installed CS5.5 on Windows XP3 - opened flash and tried to select a colour from the colour picker and saw the window in the screengrab.
More often there are no colours displayed. However it recognizes that I am hovering over different colours.
I've done some tests and found other issues.
Choosing a sub tool provided the following window.
When moving the Actions window, the display froze over the timeline
Graphics details: NVIDIA Quadro NVS 280 PCI
I do not expect to have to pay for customer service considering how much has been paid for the Master Collection Suite!!!
Please provide a solution to this bug.
(Same thing is happening with arrange documents and screen mode drop downs in Photoshop. Dreamweaver fine.)PS. Switching to test under the "desktop" setting seems to be more reliable.

Alright, so I'm running Windows 7 64-bit and Illustrator CS5.

I have an absolutely same bug - looks like font substitute
I had reinstall font family - no changes. Win 8.1 Illustrator CC. -
Photoshop CC 2014 critical display bug
BUG REPORT
I use Windows 7 x64. I have a very powerful machine, 32GB blah blah blah
Using Photoshop CC 2014, while in cropping mode and attempting to zoom with keyboard CTRL+ and CTRL-, I got an error pop-up and a severely botched document display:
http://i.imgur.com/Ge9IE3h.jpg
http://i.imgur.com/RhvWvdh.jpg
My performance settings: http://i.imgur.com/Sjvkd25.png
PS didn't crash. I simply clicked ok and it recovered. But it kept doing it while trying to crap. Though, it didn't prevent me from cropping.
This is the original image PS is trying to display: http://i.imgur.com/WqFS5sf.jpgDoes turning off »Use Graphics Processor« in the Performance Preferences and restarting Photoshop have any bearing on the issue?

Bug Report: DW CS5.5 Crashes Every Time On An Image Map
I am posting this in lieu of contacting Adobe support. I went to my account to send Adobe a bug report and was told I needed to contact support via phone. That's pretty crappy. As a licensed user who's owned it less than three months, there's no direct path to tell you guys that your software is broken?
Here's the deal: I am working on an HTML landing page with one image map attached to one image. Literally, every time I make a modification to the code near the image (tied to the image map) then click into the live preview window, Dreamweaver CS5.5 crashes like a 70-year old on a bar of soap on the floor of the shower. It crashes hard. My only relief is to save the file before clicking into the live preview window. That's my only workaround to the problem.
But I'm left amazed that I can crash it every single time over an image map, flicking from the code to the preview pane. You would think that at version 11.5, a minor thing like that wouldn't hemorrage the supposed creme de la creme of web design software.
Here's the code I'm editing that causes it to crash:
