Display crashes and locks up.

I've had this happen three times now. It seems if I have open office, and vmware server 2.0 running, the display dies and I'm unable to hit control alt delete (or backspace). I did happen to get some of the output when it crashed.

The system doesn't crash, just the display. Anyone have an idea on what's up? I'm running a T61p with the Nvidia graphics card.

i was able to copy my inbox over to thunderbird for the time being...but i'd still prefer to use evolution.
for the curious, to move over my inbox i just:

obviously, x9exn2ug.default is likely to be different on other systems.

Crashes and Lock-ups

I have been experiencing crashes and lock-ups in Premiere CS4.
Last week I was running Encore to burn a DVD and when I noticed the processor was running flat out. I decided to run Core Temp to check the temperatures. At that point my encoding stopped and Encore locked up.
Now I usually have Core Temp start when I load Windows. I have now disabled it and when I ran Premiere last night guess what? No lock-ups. Now this is early days but I suspect Core Temp might be the problem. I hope so. I'll report back with my findings when I have had more time to experiment.
PS I'm running Windows XP SP3, Quad Core 6600 and 4Gb RAM

Phone crashes and locks up

just installed latest update about a week ago and now it crashes and locks up 30 times a day. Help

I get the same problem only it's not 30 times a day. I can't remember exactly what it was I was doing it first happened but it scared the **** out of me.
Since then I do remember it's happened most often when I'm removing recently opened apps from the multitask tray.
I don't think it's a particular app that does it but it might be that I'm clicking on one after the other in quick succession but I can't saw for sure.
I can't say for how long it lasts either but it seems like forever yet it might be about 2-3 mins.

Display Crashes and recovers Quosmio X505-Q870

The hard drive quit working in this laptop so I sent it to Toshiba repair. However, when I got it back the screen keeps crashing and says the display drivers have crashed but were able to recover. How do I stop this from continuing to happen? I just go the laptop back. Is there a display driver update that will stop it from crashing?

You can try reinstalling the latest display driver.

If that doesn't fix it, you may want to contact customer support again.

Bridge CS3 won't display thumbnails and locks up

Running a Mac G5 Dual 2gHz processors with OS 10.4.11 and 4GB ram...
I started today working with images on an internal drive and all was well until I selected an older external drive. Bridge vers. 2.0.0.975 would not display thumbnails on the older drives and stopped functioning altogether when selecting a different folder or any menu item.
Reinstalled Photoshop and Bridge and folders/thumbs from internal drive still displayed just fine, but still would not display on external drives. Ever since I tried holding down the option key when restarting Bridge, the the problem has spread to the internal drive and now those images will not display.
And yes, I did try upgrading to Bridge 2.1.1.9, but that update never worked at all for me.
I gotta vent here. Bridge CS3 has been a consistent headache from the first day of purchase. Since Bridge CS3 has never worked properly, how can I justify the purchase of Photoshop CS4 upgrade?

Good it worked, seem to remember that there have been problems with some users and the auto update feature from Adobe?
Whenever I used Bridge CS3 for a week or 6 to 8 (I also work with it a lot and and also large amount of files) trouble was coming up and I just delete the plist and cache file and restarted with option to refresh prefs. I don't use the cache for archive purpose and usual work with one main folder. After finished I move the files to specific folders without caching those so after deleting cache I only need to recache a few folders and was able to work flawlessly for a certain period.
I must say that Bridge CS4 is more stable and is working also very nice and again better compared to the prior version.
For system maintenance I use Disk Warrior every now and then but Cocktail on a daily basis, scheduled automatically after an also time scheduled auto start up of system and some apps. Cocktail is cheap and easy, :-)

Firefox is in conflict with Flash player. Flash keeps crashing and locking up Firefox. Also, may be effecting Outlook. Downloaded the current rev of Flash. Still crashing. Please advise.

Of late, when ever I attempt to listen to radio online, or view video, the viewer / Flash crashes, locks up Firefox, and seems to also have some sort of effect on MS Outlook.

Safari crashes AND locks up the Mac too

Safari crashed while browsing for no apparent reason. Now will not launch, and also locks up the system when it crashes. Have to restart the computer. Tried deleting the cookies.plist file, and no change. I also tried re-installing the app, no help there either. Any suggestions?

I have the same issue where Safari locks up my Mac Book Pro, Dou Core 2, Leopard (whatever the lastest update is).

Process crash and lock status

Hi All
In my case, when one environment is shared among multiple processes and suppose if one of the process crashes after acquiring a write lock on a Dbt. then all the lock requests by other processes causes the Berkeley DB to return DB_LOCK_NOTGRANTED error code.
Following is the code snippet after which a process crashed.

I can only get out of this situation only after performing a recovery, that is using the DB_RECOVER flag in the environment open, which requires all the process to stop all the database operations in the environment.
I would like to know is there any workaround other than performing a database recovery.

How can I quit my iPhoto screen that as crashed and locked on. The locked screen has no iPhoto file list on the left and the part of the screen that should have uploaded photos is blank except for the rotating download icon in the centre of screen. Help?I

My SD card reader has caused my iPhoto screen to be locked with no list of files on the lefthand side and a blank main photo area apart from the rotating download icon operating in the centre of the photo part of the screen.
I have tried to quit iphoto but when I restart it the same locked screen appears.
I believe I caused this problem when I removed my SD device without first ejecting it when the blank screen appeared without downloading my new photos.
Can anyone help a 66 year old computer illiterate fool ?.

Use Force Quit (under the Apple menu at the top) to close iPhoto. Then try opening it again. If it locks up again force quit and try this: launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library. Import some photos and check to see if the same problem persists.
If the problem does not persist try the following: make a temporary, backup copy (select the library and type Command+D) and apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #1, followed by #3 and then #4 as needed.
Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.
If the problem persists in the test library do the following: make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.

3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto. You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.

IPhone crashing and locking up

iPhone locking up mainly using safari. Having to do a hard reset to recover. Is anyone having the same problem? Has during other apps besides safari. I hope they are planning a firmware update real soon. Makes a great iPod though.

They don't get stored unless you instuct it to do so. If you have taken photos iPhoto should recognize this and open up automatically (unless you have it disabled). I would suggest that when you take photos on your iPhone to sync it nightly and import them to iPhoto. Like I said this should be automatic everytime you sync.

Samsung S4 crashes and locks

I've had my beautiful Samsung G4 for 6 weeks -- it's beautiful to LOOK at but it repeatedly locks up and shuts down. I had trouble downloading the 4.3 update for several weeks, and when it finally loaded the trouble really began. My phone is becoming a piece of junk. Help!

Also, what software and android version do you have installed? As far as downloading the 4.3 update, please verify that you have enough device memory to complete the update as this has been an issue for those in the past. My brand new iPod 5G 80GB keeps crashing! Sometimes the only way to recover is to let the battery run flat then it will reset as the Menu/Select will not work?
Does anyone else have this problem?

To 'fire' a software reset, just enable/disable
hold-function sometimes and click & hold the menu-
and ok-button the same time! You may do this several
times!!! On success, your iPod will startup with the
apple logo and needs some time to re-run the menu!
My iPod has been crashed two times in a week now and

Thanks for your suggestion, Today this method of reset would not work.. All key presses where not recognised.. now I sit here as I type this at Edinburgh airport with a dead battery on my iPod as this was the only way to reset it, i.e. let it run out of battery power. f.y.i. I get the Apple logo when I try and use it then the battery low warning then it swtiches off.. So I'm guessing it's now reset, won't find out till I get home and near a charger (fingers crossed :-~)
Not a good situation I had a 3G 20GB iPod up until last week when I purchased this one. The older 3G 'NEVER' crashed in all the years I had it.. I hope Apple release a bug fix soon as reading here I see others have lots of 'crashing' problems with other 5G iPods..

I suggest you pull yourself together and stop running off with your mouth. So far each and every posting of yours has been on the edge of a rant or been one right away. Given, that you admitted yourself to be using the program for only for a short while, I find that more than odd that you blame specific tools and features, when your inexperience is just as much part of the problem. This strikes me as yet another one of these cases. Now it's impossible to even see what's going on, since you don't bother to provide any info about your system, what footages you used, what your steps were when initiating the DL connection etc.., which is another of those things... I know losing work sucks, but it happens and that's why people use versions and backups and that - once more - is fully in your hands. I will quietly bow out of this thread before this turns into yet another of those furball threads I'm so tired off, but maybe someone here might find it in his heart to still help you, regardless of your rude and insulting behavior...

Aperture is crashing and locking up computer , requires hardboot

Aperture is recently freezing up computer and there is no way to get to any other application without turning off computer to reboot. Are other people having the same problem recently.

Having the same issue with Aperture.
Trouble started after upgrading to version 3.2.3.
Initially would freeze and if left alone for a few minutes would be fine. Now heavy editing after about 20 photos causes screen to goes black. No warning, no nothing just all of a sudden, black. Have to press button at back of computer to re-boot. I am a fraid to have other programs open because of potential lost data.

Have 4 different libraries in Aperture. All have been repaired. Permissions and Database. I am holding out on re-building as a last resort. Plug ins are all up to date. Topaz Labs and Perfect Photo Suite. Also PS Elements 9 which is hardly ever used.
Always worked fine until the upgrade, now I do not trust it. This has brought my workflow to a grinding halt. Investing in Lightroom. Support is also useless when you spend forever trying to get them then you know morte than they do and they tell you it will be $100 to go over yoyur problem!
