hi gay.i have a problem whith my display power book g4 aluminium 1.5ghz.you can see the photo in this link.i can not explain with word what is it,it`s like a dead or stuck pixel.the bed pixel are present in a diferent part of the screen an move there are not fixet in the same position. the problems come when the mac stared,when i boot the powerbook whith my mac cd install the problem will be not visible.is this the worm who attacks the accelerator graphic or no?can anybody help me? thanks

Looks very much like your LCD cable has been damaged with the hinge.
I had a similar problem and replacing the LCD cable resolved the problem.

How do I troubleshoot an ipad screen that goes black or displays crazy white lines?

IT looks like that is not a software issue but more on the hardware. are you covered by limited warranty or apple care? If you are you can bring it to the apple store for repair. Else you might be paying for an out of warranty repair. However, diagnosis is free so you can still go there for a free diagnostic test. It might be a display/ screen issue

Can you advise as to display craziness?

I have a what seems to me to be a very weird display issue. From time to time the screen gets a yellowish/green overcast, broken up looking somewhat like highspeed computer screens we seeing ticking off information in scifi movies. While this is going on any program displays when dragged around leave a ghost image behind.
The computer continues to work fine and sometimes it just clears up by shutting down a program, sometimes doing a restart, sometimes a restart doesn't help. It has been going on for quite a while and I can not find any regularity to it at all, no sequence of events, no programs that trigger it.
It may happen several times in one day and it may not happen for 3 weeks.
If connected to another dispaly the problem will show up there as well.
I have a screen shot of the issue but don't see a way to attach it here.

Webpage display crazy

Hey,
I got my MacBookPro as present yesterday. When surfing through the internet, some pages are crazily displayed, it is just a colorful, pixelmass all over. Tried to do a screenshot but it just saves a black nothing. Any idea what this is and how I can fix it?

Tell the gift giver you got a lemon. Pixelmass usually means trouble with the graphics chip. You can verify this with this article:

Retina Display Crazy

I start to notice this error a couple off days ago, when browsing in Safari. The thing is, suddenly the screen turns grey(it's not a solid grey color, but shades of grey) , and it's not like if the Macbook froze, it's possible to see the some colors from the mouse pointer, or the dock when i scrooll the mouse above it. It's similar when you disconnect the cable from the videogame or dvd, and you can't see the image but you listen the menus scrooll etc... Little hard to explain!!
This error comes and goes from time to time.
Maybe it's a hardware problem, i don't know if anyone experienced something like that on the Retina.

Looks as if you've a graphics card and/or screen problem - I would lean more towards the GPU.
You should take the machine into your local Apple Store or an AASP and have them evaluate the problem. This diagnosis should be free as should an estimate for repair (if you're not still under warranty).

Boxes and grids on display

The display on my iMac G5 (2nd generation, 20 in, ambient light sensor) has all kinds of boxes and grids all over it. I am unable to even read the display. Every now and then it is OK after a restart. My iMac is 5 years old, so beyond the 3 year warranty period. I have a photo of the display (JPEG), but don't know how to attach it to this post. I really don't where where to start with this. I have no idea if it is a software or hardware problem. Restarting with the install disk (using C key) produces the same display problem. When the display was OK, I ran disk utility (from the install disk startup) and permission repairs were complete and there were no repairs necessary. Does anyone know what this problem might be? My situation looks exactly the same : iMac G5, almost 5 year old, and a display crazy from the boot.
Here are some useful (hopefully) information:
1- You can still boot your imac in safe mode (press the shift button). The display remains disturbed, but you can save your data on the external data.
2- I didn't believe it, but suprisingly I have solved (temporarily unfortunately) the issue by reinstalling the MAC OS X (boot on the install CD, press C button, and try to launch the different step of installation in spite of a display still crazy). At the end of the installation, after a boot, the display has becomen clean!
3- Unfortunately, the issue occured many times (I can bare work on it several minutes before the issue reappears). However, I managed it by installing the Onyx freeware and by cleaning all the caches (still in safe mode).
Conclusion: the issue seems to come from the VRAM (the HAT raises an issue in the VRAM) and to be irreversible, even if you can find back some fonctionalities by following the advices above.
If somebody succeeded in definitely solved the issue, I'm in!

LR3 Flickr export plugin. Is the export without ICC profile available?

I want to use the new integrated Flickr export plugin in LR3 to publish my picture on my photostream.
Since I want my pictures to look the same accross all browsers I want to convert them to sRGB and I don't want to embed the ICC profile.
I haven't seen any option in LR3 that allows me to do so. I have to do it in photoshop (save for the webs without profile) and then import it manually using Flickr update webpage. In my opinion, it is kind of weird that Adobe didn't think about that. Is there an option somewhere, a workaround?

Safari 4 color manager is bugged!!!! And guess what I was using? Safari 4... I just upgraded to Safari 5 and now the color of the tagged images look great. They look exactly like in CS4 and FF 3.6.
Everything I could read or everything you explained didn't make sense with this stupid Safari bug as it was displaying crazy colors; But now it does. I do understand now why I don't need to strip the profile.

At the risk of raining on your parade...
I just opened the files again in CS4 and in Safari 4.0.5 and the all look the same, just as they did in Safari 5.0.
Safari 4.0.5 displays the files as I would expect, at least on my MacPro and MacBook Pro. You may have found a solution but I'm afraid you don't really know what the problem was.
Sorry, JB. Safari does know how to correctly display images.
Ah ah! You are not raining on my parade. From the comments on the page I have mentioned, it seems that not everybody has this issue. Could it be an issue with another Safari version (4.0.??). I don't remember exactly which version I had. Could it be a compatibility issue with some driver or ...?
Even though I am not sure what the problem was, don't you think I can assume that the problem was not with my files or my calibration?

Toshiba Tectra R850 display going crazy

Brand new out of the box.
Toshiba Tectra R850-S8511
Windows 7 64bit.
Lastest bios.
Once in a while the screen will turn into static
and the fan comes on and then the laptop will shutdown.

It is static electricity that is causing it. When I touch the left mouse button with my finger the static discharges and the screen goes crazy.

Display gone crazy

I've got a HP2605dn and it works great up to today. The display has gone crazy. Is there a hard reset for the printer to resent it's memory?

My display has gone crazy, please help!!!

Well folks, you can count me in as another victim of the "checkered/blocked" display problem. It suddenly came up just a few hours ago and I,m going crazy. Have been reading some of the posts and Apple should definitely look further on this issue since it's affecting a considerable number of users. I,m not clear if my system is covered under Apple's Extension Program. My S/N begins with W8526xxxxxxx, please help us Apple.

Basically your screen looks like an old-fashioned TV test card with blocks all over it? That happened to my imac G5 when I had only had it a short while back in 2005. I had just switched to mac and was devastated. When I rang Apple they said it was the logic board which is the most expensive part to replace apparently. I had it fixed under Applecare. I would find out if you can get it fixed under the Apple program as now it is a known fault with these models.Here is a link to the page Apple have set up about the extended repair program, it does look like your model could be one of the affected ones:

Crazy problem - PDF shows image in my AA8, image does not display in customer's AA8

Hi all
As title really. First thing I thought was of course was Overprint Preview but I've turned that on and off with no joy. The image is a cover with a panel containing several images - on the customer's screen the bottom right image is there, on our screen it is not. We have printed thousands of these without the image.
I have never seen a problem like this before. If you break the PDF apart with the Pitstop tools there is no image there, yet when the customer views the same file he says an image displays. The file contains no layers. The original PDF was printed as a postscript then distilled.
Anyone else seen this problem?

Hi. Apologies to LoriAUC and Bill@VT for my delay in replying - I've been off sick. Thanks for your replies.
My description wasn't quite right - the image is missing in my AA8 but the customer swears it is there in his AA8. Viewing the same file!
Bill@VT - It's definitely not due to View Large Images being off. That leaves a grey box but this is a white box (also, the setting is ticked on in my Acrobat).
LoriAUC - I hadn't thought of that. Selecting the images mentioned in the Content panel selects them on the page - I go through all the images and they all appear, there's no image entry in the Content panel for the mysteriously missing image. Which confirms my first finding - that there is just no image there.
I can't explain why the customer says it is displaying in their Acrobat. I talked through it with them on the phone to try and make sure there was no confusion about what we were talking about and as far as I can tell they're looking at the same file as I am but just not seeing the same thing! Any more suggestions gratefully received.

Upon restarting my computer (which runs OSX 10.6.8), one of my 23 inch Cinema Displays is flickering like crazy. Please help!!!

I use two 23" apple cinemas displays with my MacPro. Several times in the past, when I've restarted the computer one of the monitor is flickering as soon as it powers up. One of those times I shut the computer down again right away and restarted and the problem went away. Another time it stopped after sitting for a while. But it has just happened again....and this time, no matter how often I restart, or how long I've let it sit, the monitor continues to flicker. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

IMac 400mhz with crazy display problems

I just finished assembling an iMac CRT and everything works great except for the display. For some reason the colors dont wanna line up and i cant figure out what the problem is. Ive tried everything i can think of. I ended up plugging in another monitor and everything on that display is fine. Is my iMac CRT toast?

for installing 10,4 tiger, you need an Apple which has built-in fireWire. this means that at least iMac 400 or a later model. 640 MB RAM is enough for installation. By the way, iMac G3 (640MB) is not an enough explanation to classify your mac.
skype 1,4 needs:
Macintosh computer with G3, G4, G5, or Intel processor
Mac OS X v10.3.9 Panther or newer. (The widget requires Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger.)
128 MB RAM
20 MB free disk space on your hard drive
Microphone
Internet connection (either dial-up: minimum 33.6 Kbps, or any broadband: cable, DSL, etc.)
so if your iMac is 400Mhz or more and have 10.3.9 or 10.4.x installed, yes you can use skype.

Display has crazy vertical bars and flickers. (PIC)

My aluminum macbook from 2008 has been having this problem for quite some time. Now its just getting worse and I cant take it anymore. If I bend the screen at certain points the flickering bars disappear. Im wondering if there is any easy fix since I know the display still works properly if bent a certain way. Any help will be appreciated. Im including a picture of my macbook so you guys can see what Im talking about. Thanks.

You need hardware service to fix this. Contact Apple at the appropriate phone number on this page or carry the MacBook in to an Apple retail store or authorized service provider. They should give you an estimate before working on your computer.

Freezes, Goes All Crazy or Displays Weird Colors

I have the latest 14 inch iBook (1.42 GHZ, 1G RAM) purchased at the end or Sept. 05 running Tiger 10.4.4 and these problems have been happening just about the entire time. I've never had it repaired and I just recently did an Archive Install to try and fix it but nothing.
Every day my monitor will get one if not all of these problems:
1. Big squares of a red to green gradient show up over icons, text, palettes etc. out of no where. When I switch out of the program with the squares and back in they're gone but it happens all the time.
2. My monitor will have a seizure; it's the equivalent of having the TV on the wrong channel, it going all black and white and making that loud noise. Mine's all different colors and doesn't make a noise but the rest is the same. I have to hit the power button and restart to get rid of it.
3. The last is the OS just freezes; it freezes about 4 times a day. I've done the hardware test and everything passed but nothing's changed.
I need my computer every day for work and can't spare the time to send it away to get fixed. I was hoping this was a common problem and there was a fix I could do myself before I have to ship it off.

The last event was at 11:50 this morning. Machine froze and took about 3 restarts before it would boot back up without erroring out.
