Display differences between machines.

Has anyone please any idea why this image opened in Elements Camera Raw should look flat like this:
http://community.dcmag.co.uk/photos/alan_inghams_gallery/picture678816.aspx
and when opened on another machine which show exactly the same default settings look like this:
http://community.dcmag.co.uk/photos/alan_inghams_gallery/picture678576.aspx
The first image is flat beyond belief whilst the second appears completely different. Both machine monitors are calibrated and there doesn't appear to be any settings in Elements Camera Raw to change any working space settings etc etc. Any advice/help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Windows XP

Michael
Thanks, maybe I didn't explain the situation clear enough in my original post.
(a) when the image is right-clicked upon (Explorer) and the option chosen to open in Elements 5.0 then ACR opens by default. Without any of the sliders being moved i.e. the radio button is set at Default the result is as shown in the first link e.g. completely lifeless.
(b) when the same image is opened on another machine in exactly the same manner as described above the image is displayed as shown in the second link i.e. much more lifefull and saturated. Just to emphasize - still no sliders have been moved and the radio button is as for the first machine set at default.
The result is that two machines are showing different renderings of the same image although you will note that the slider settings (not very clear from the screenshot I know) are all set the same.
As a RAW image does not have an associated colour profile and there are not any settings to change within Elements RAW (ACR) it is hard to find an explanation as to why the images should be displayed in entirely different ways.
Referring to your last sentence which says "Leastwise, you can try to make sure that both are processed exactly the same way, in which case they should appear the same" I don't quite follow what you are saying. The images are NOT being processed - they are simply being opened in ACR via Elements, default setting, sliders are reading the same for both representations - it is just that they are being displayed differently.

  • IBooks display differences between iOS7 and iOS8

I work for a music publisher where we build reflowable ePubs that mostly contain music and embedded audio/video files. It is critical that we deliver an eBook that keeps a/v controllers with the title, credits, music etc. and maintains proper spacing throughout. It's critical not only for the overall look but for the readability and usability of the musician. Clearly a user can increase the font size and destroy any well designed layout for ePub, but if the ePub is designed properly, targeting median font settings, our layouts are consistent from tablet to tablet.
The recent release of iOS 8 has brought changes to iBooks once again and how it displays content. I've noticed differences with A/V controllers displaying more margin, troubles controlling the alignment and overall width of player. I've also noticed additional margin at the top of each "page" in iBooks which wasn't there in iOS 7.
These changes may seem minor but they completely break our layouts. I have been trying to correct these issues using CSS, but haven't had any luck. What's even more frustrating is that iBooks for Mac on Mavericks doesn't have these issues. In fact, the audio controller has a completely different look and responds to CSS as it should. These small issues are causing major problems for us because we have thousands of ePubs with audio at Apple.
We've seen changes in the past with our ePubs when iOS 6 went to 7, so we were expecting things like this to happen. But because our CSS modifications don't seem to work on the iOS side, I'm beginning to think that this is a bug or that there are new issues to contend with when developing ePubs for iBooks. If there have been changes, it would be great to have specs from Apple that would help identify what is happening within iBooks. It would also be great to have development tools for iBooks like there are for all modern browsers today.
If anyone knows anything about these issues or has information as to where I can find the answers, I would be most grateful.

This has been my headache since day one and a complete swing and a miss by Apple.  I haven't been able to get ANYTHING I have not explicitely purchased from iTunes to sync in iBooks across device.
For example:  If I load an ePub or PDF into iTunes and "manually" add to a device, this works just fine.
However, if I open a PDF file on my iPhone into iBooks, it doesn't show up in any of my other devices, including the new iBooks on my iMac with Maverick.  it doesn't matter which device it's added, nothing syncs if it's not purchased from iTunes.
Please, someone make me a liar and tell me I've completely missed something.
Apple:  Why or why can't I add PDF files to iBooks on my iMac and have them automagically show up in the collection I created on all my devices?  Because I didn't purchase them from you, you say?  Stupid, stupid, stupid.
Then don't let me add it in the first place and stop advertising "my content anywhere on any device" because this has been broken from day one.

  • Displaying differences between topic versions

I need to be able to show what was changed in a Topic and the
previous version for an audit. Currently Version Control will show
each version using the Truecode. I will be showing the difference
to non technical people so I would like to show each version of the
Topic in an HTML format. Is this possible or do you have any
    alternatives?

Using RoboSource Control Explorer, you can perform a 'Get'
for any version of a topic from its History. This gives you a local
copy of this version, which can be displayed in a browser.
Two things to keep in mind:
    - Make sure that you don't overwrite the topic in your local
    project folder.
    - Make sure to copy other needed files (style sheets,
    javascripts, etc.) as well.

  • Colour difference between color and FCP

i have edited in FCP doing no colour correction at all then i have sent it to color using the

no i am really happy with the colours in color using pri in, sec in, colorFX and pri out, rendered it all but when i send it back to FCP everything is redder well pinkish then what it looks like in color
am i doing something wrong at all
i have tried to adjust the amount of red in color then render and send back but it still looks the same.
im lost can anyone please help
    adam

Yes, you are doing something incredibly wrong. This non-issue is rearing it's ugly head so much it's nauseating. What you are seeing is the display differences between Color and Final Cut Pro. Do a search on all the Color forums and you'll find a host of very similar threads to yours.
The solution is to use a real input/output device like an Aja Kona or Blackmagic Decklink card and send the video signal to a production monitor. Those of us using this infrastructure see none of this non-issue that other users who are relying upon their highly inaccurate computer displays are seeing.
You are at a disadvantage however as there is currently no accurate way to get external monitoring capabilities out of an iMac as it is woefully lacking in expansion capabilities.

  • Differences between Browserlab ie7 & ie developer tools browsermode: ie7 + onion skin problem

    Hi,
I've just noticed display differences between what I see in browserlab for ie7 and what I see using ie9, but in browsermode:ie7.  I would have thought they would show the same as both are supposed to represent what the webpage would look like in ie 7.  Please can someone explain:
    a) why they should be different,
    b) which is the correct one.
Basically the Menu is perfect in BLab, but is floated left in browsermode:ie7.
There is nothing out of the ordinary in the code for this page, just html, css, a tiny bit of javascript & some php.
I am using windows 7 on a PC and the problem occurs if I use BLab through Firebug or directly from Dreamweaver.
The url is my old site that I am in the middle of updating, but I still get the same error with the new site that I am testing locally:
    http://www.laughingrabbit.co.uk/
    Kind regards
I am also having a problem with the onion skin feature, which I had about 2 months ago, but which then went when I deleted the cache and rebooted - no such luck this time.
When I try and show 2 browser views over each other, only one will show when I slide the slider bar making direct comparison impossible - both views stay the same as the one on the left.
eg try http://www.laughingrabbit.co.uk/contact.html  The corners of the form should be rounded only in later versions of ie, as it isn't supported in earlier version.
It is the same either through the main BL interface or Dreamweaver.
I have tried closing down BL, deleting cache etc (the usual stuff), but it doesn't make any difference.  I work on a PC.
Has anyone else had issue with this and if so, how did you solve it.
AND YES, I AM SLIDING THE SLIDER FROM LEFT TO RIGHT and all over, but ti makes no difference
    regards
    Bek

hi Mark,  Here is one example, on my new site.  I have used css3 to round the tabs in the navigation which works for FF5, but obviously not for ie7, but no matter how much I slide the slider accross the image (and the tabs) never change.  i get the same whenever I try and use onionskin at the moment - the image doesn't change from the one on the left hand side.  If I swapped FF5 & ie7 round (as per the image) then the rounded tabs change to square as you would expect in ie7, but don't change to rounded as you slide the slider to the FF5 side.
    kind regards
    bek

  • Functional Differences between SAP 4.6 version and SAP 6.0 version

What are the functional and display differences between SAP 4.6 and SAP 6.0 versions?

There are several changes have been done... and of course it is beyond the scope to discuss in this forum area.. but the guideline can be provided here, where you can find out relevant information - Please check the following links:
    http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/nw-70?rid=/webcontent/uuid/401a43d0-be49-2a10-a192-f03503a00825 [original link is broken]
    https://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/ESpackages/SAPERP6.0
Some part of earlier SAP functionality now included into separate solutions as part of NetWeaver (for e.g. HR has incorporated into HCM). Also there are several new functionality (you may say "Module" as per earlier concept) as come into picture as part of some Industry Solutions (IS). You need to install them as Add-On.
In SMP.. go to Solution details --> Release Information .. check the information provided here.
Sorry as I can't able to give you all Older functional module details as you wanted ... it's really tough to expedite in this short scope (as per my opinion).

  • Difference between iMac 20" screen & 20" Cinema Display

I am hesitating to switch my PowerMac G4 to an iMac G5 or upgrade my G4 and add an Cinema Display
I would like to know what is the difference between the iMac 20" display and the 20" Cinema display.
    Please, Thank you.

He is right, the Dual 867 is a workhorse. Out of the three machines I mentioned in my earlier post, our Dual 867 at my workplace seems to be the fastest. This is because it almost never crashes, unlike the Dual 1GHz MDD, and the RAM and the pipeline are quite a bit faster on the MDD than on the Quicksilver.
However, I move to differ in opinion about upgrading. I still think you should stick to the iMac. Here's why:
You as a graphic artist (I read that in the other thread) need processing power. Running apps like Photoshop, Illustrator and After Effects, you need RAM and a very fast processor. Especially when rendering large files. Sure, the disks may make a difference, but they aren't going to slow you down considerably. When I mentioned that my wife's iMac G5 leaves my company's Dual 867 in the dust, it was specifically in those areas. She uses Photoshop CS mainly, and shoots RAW photos of 18 MB or more, and then layers them. She's had files around 250 MB, which were nothing for the iMac G5. Also, I've used hers as a render machine in After Effects, simply because it's so fast. I even use DVD Studio Pro, and I tend to let her machine do the processing, since it doesn't take nearly as long.
Video editing is another story. I disagree with people when they say that you need a beefy processor to edit video. I used to edit video on a 9600 at 200 MHz. What I did have was a SCSI RAID with 5 bays to store the video. In video, if you have fast hard drives, you can capture, scrub, edit, scan audio, and do all that stuff without a hitch. Rendering is slower, but I just use the time to make a sandwich.
Here's a trick for fast hard drives on an iMac (and this is what I do so call me crazy). I use 5, but you can use up to 6 for this (any more will max out the pipeline). Get a bunch of the same size external FW400 hard drives. Connect half to FW400 port 1, and the other half to FW400 port 2. Open Disk Utility and RAID 0 them together. This will split the load so that not only are the hard drives sharing the load, but the FireWire ports are as well. It sounds psycho, I know, but I'm using FCP on an iMac G4 700, and one of my friends uses it on a Cube. It works. Just make sure you have a drive cabable of backing up the whole RAID set. My suggestion, get maybe 4 100 GB drives, and a 500 GB for Backup. Also, LaCie Triple Interface drives will allow you to chain using FW800 when connected to the FW400 ports on the machine.
I know my little tip sounds crazy, and I'm sure I'll be attacked for that one, but I've been doing this for years and haven't had an issue yet. Knock on wood. I know it won't ever get near a SATA RAID, but I really don't think Photoshop needs a SATA RAID to operate. SATA RAIDs are for HD Uncompressed video, and the occasional extremist.

  • What is the  difference between list display and grid display in alv report

    Hai genious
i am a new of the abap, i dont know the alv report, i have a small doubt, can u please tell me  what is the main difference between list display and grid display in alv report
    thanks&regards
    chinnu

    Hi ,
    1. For all practical purposes, they are the same.
    2. Some differences:
    a) from abap coding point of view,
alv list is done with Function modules,
alv gris can also be done with FM,
but can also be done using OO concepts.
    b) Alv grid (using oo concept) requires
    designing the screen layout .
Hence, in one screen, we can show more
    then one alv grid
    (we cannot show more than
one alv list on one screen)
    c) ALV grid uses ActiveX controls
    present on the Presentation Server.
    Hence, it consumes More Memory
    on the presentation server.
    d) ALV LIST is Display Only.
    Whereas
ALV Grid Can Be made EDITABLE for entry purpose.
    e) In alv grid, these options are possible,
    but not in alv list.
    without horizontal lines
    without vertical lines
    without cell merging during sorts
display total lines above the entries
    I hope it helps.

  • Differences between macbook pro displays

    hi all!
i'm thinking on buying a new macbook pro i7, but i'm a bit confused about the differences between the display options.
MacBook Pro 15-inch Glossy Widescreen Display (default)
MacBook Pro 15-inch Hi-Res Glossy Widescreen Display
MacBook Pro 15-inch Hi-Res Antiglare Widescreen Display
is there any difference in the display panels in therms of bits, like 6 or 8bit, so i can get more colour depth? or is "just" the resolutions and surface finishing? & Which one will be better ???
    thanks in advance

    From the Apple Store:
+The 15-inch MacBook Pro comes with a 1440-by-900-pixel LED-backlit glossy display. You can also choose a high-resolution 1680-by-1050 glossy or antiglare display that gives you 36 percent more pixels.+
    +About the high-resolution display+
+The 1680-by-1050 display gives you more pixels — which is especially useful when you’re working with HD content in pro applications, like Final Cut Studio — because you get a sharper image and more screen space to work with.+
    +About glossy and antiglare+
+Choose the glossy widescreen display to make your graphics, photos, and videos appear with richer colors and deeper blacks — great for watching DVD movies. If you prefer a display with antiglare coating for a matte rather than glossy viewing experience, choose the antiglare widescreen display.+

  • What is the difference between the 4th generation ipad and the ipad 3 with retnia display?

What is the difference between the 4th generation iPad and the "New iPad with retina display"? i don't quite understand. are they stilll the same size or would i have to get a different case?

The 3rd and 4th generation iPads are the same size. The 4 has a faster processor, and a little better iSight camera for FaceTime. The 4 also has the lightning connector so your old cable will not work with the iPad 4.
You should always check with the manufacturer of the case to see if it will fit. You can probably do that on the manufacturers website.
