Display dimming buttons don't function on wireless keyboard.

Display dimming buttons do not function on the wireless keyboard, but do function on the MacBook Pro's keyboard. That is, I cannot control brightness of the MacBook Pro's display from the wireless keyboard, but can do so with the MacBook Pro's built in keyboard. Neither of the keyboards seem to have any control over the external monitor. The wireless keyboard is a brand new Apple aluminum keyboard. How can I gain control of the wireless keyboard's brightness control buttons?

Hello roytel:
Welcome to HP's forum. Sorry your keyboard has become corrupted. Unfortunately there is no way to excess the keyboard. They are manufacturered preinstalled software as a set. That is Bllue Tooth Device, Mouse and Keyboard. The only solution is to replace the set. I am on my third Keyboard, Mouse and Blue Tooth Device set. Please check and compare the prices at HP's store and HP's part store. HP's parts store was cheeper when I bought my last set. I have on hand a cheep USB Keyboard as spare. This way you can continue using your computer in the mean time while your new keyboard set is being ship. Here is HP's Part Store link http://h20141.www2.hp.com/hpparts/ and here is HP's Store Wireless Keyboard sets link http://www.shopping.hp.com/en_US/home-office/-/search-SimpleOfferSearch;pgid=9ENQqrMsvdhSRpHAjtpLkm....+  You are welcome use your Sound Icon by the clock on Task Bar as the volume control or any of  your media  players untill your new keyboard arrives. frrw

  • Volume buttons and mute button don't function in Windows 8 64-bit

Almost funny, I also have installed Windows 8 64-bit on my ThionkPad SL500 (clean install). I have read other people complaining about "Volume buttons and mute button don't function". This is exactly the same problem I have. I have found no exact procedure about what software to install to make this work. Instead people refer to other threads that often end in some desert... So, does anyone (Lenovo?) have a clear answer on what software to install (and links to those drivers please...) :-? And, yes, I have tried installing different software packages by following threads, but nothing has worked just yet... So, clear instructions / links, please :-)
    Thanks,
    Niels

My keyboard volume controls suddenly stopped working
If the volume controls on your keyboard stops working, check the Human Interface Device Access service on your computer to make sure it is set to Automatic.
In the Start menu, type View local services.
From the Search Results list, select View local services.
In the Services dialog box, locate Human Interface Device Access. Make sure the status is set to “Started.”  If it is not started, click Start the service.
Right-click Human Interface Device Access and select Properties.
On the General tab, in the Startup type, select Automatic, and then click OK.

    Hi champrider,
You can use an application such as Apple Remote Desktop to control your iMac remotely. See this article -

  • After update, keyboard and trackpad does not work on MBA but wireless mouse works. I don't use a wireless keyboard. Stuck at login because need to enter pw. Anyone have this issue? Please help!

My Macbook Air (13", mid 2011) right after I did the Maverick OS update. My keyboard on Macbook Air is not working and it says "There isn't a keyboard connected" (Bluetooth Keyboard Setup). I do not use a wireless keyboard. Apparently my bluetooth works because my wireless mouse works. I am currently stuck at my login screen not being able to get in because I can't even enter my password. I am, however, able to login as guests and get to the Keyboard viewer to type things with my wireless mouse. I really need my keyboard to work to use for my job. I need help please!

I forgot to mention that my power button did work but everything else, keyboard and trackpad, didn't! Anyway, I shutdown my laptop, slept, and turned it back (in hopes that it might work instead of restarting it like before). Now my keyboard and trackpad works! Thank goodness! I was about to go to the Apple store upset too!

  • Only the top row of buttons works on the aluminun wireless keyboard

After returning my first wireless keyboard for not pairing with my iMac (which has all the right tech specs) I exchanged it for a new one. Initially, I was able to type letters and numbers only and many of the keys were not doing the task they were supposed to--the F12 keys ejected CDs and the eject button did nothing. I went to the Apple icon and downloaded all of the new updates that showed up, restarted my computer and then suddenly, the eject button worked! But, when I tried to type letters and numbers, nothing happened. My computer recognizes it and the top row of buttons works just fine.

the same has happend to me, it's a new wireless keyboard, and from the moment i paired them only the to row (f1,f2....eject) buttons are working.

  • Preferences Buttons Don't Function

I initially thought I was having a problem with Time Machine, because nothing happens when I click the Select Disk button. However, it turns out that NONE of the buttons in any of my system preferences function. But only on my Macbook Pro, not on my Mac Mini. Anyone else experience this?

    From elsewhere in this forum:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5484035?start=75&tstart=0
    This is the fix:
    In Terminal...
         defaults write NSGlobalDomain NSUseLeopardWindowValues YES
         defaults write com.apple.Safari NSUseLeopardWindowValues YES
defaults write com.apple.screencapture disable-shadow -bool false
         killall SystemUIServer
    (Credit and thanks to luke_aus)
    Fixed my problem completely!

  • My printer will come on, control & power button don't function.

I have J6480 All-in-one printer, while turn-off  the printer off I held the on/off button to long, I think this created the problem?

Is the iPhone online?  The Find My iPhone help says once the device is online, the sound plays for two minutes, and an email is then sent to your Apple ID email address (the one you use with iCloud).
If all that occurred and your iPhone is still not working, perhaps it's run out of power.  It might simply need a good charge.
If it has power, you might try a reset.  Hold the on/off and home buttons together for about 10 seconds till the Apple logo appears.

  • Can't use tab and esc function with wireless keyboard

I've recently installed the wireless apple keyboard and it works fine when typing emails, etc., but I can't seem to scroll with the arrows, tab through emails, use the ESC button to close email messages, etc. Is this fixable?

I do not know about good specifically, but almost none do.  The wireless key board is good for moving around within a text box or a document.  But moving around a web page, or anything outside of the text box, is based on screen touch.
So in your case it means type an entry, touch the screen to get to the next box, type and entry.  Thats just the way it works.

  • Toggling between functions on wireless keyboard

Can someone point to the instructions for toggling between the general function key and the programmed function that comes installed with the keyboard?
For example: I want to use the F12 key to control volume and to also use it to toggle Firebug on and off.
    Thanks.

toggling between the general function key and the programmed function that comes installed with the keyboard
It might be less to remember to program Firebug to open with Command-F12 (for example). That command opens Firebug in a new window by default, but you can change that to have it open in a split window in Tools > Firebug > Customize Shortcuts.

  • Air for iOS 7 App  - Listen for wireless Keyboard events

Greetings i've been reviewing this older posting relating to the same problem that I have, but cannot surmise the solution from the thread. Could someone help point me in the right direction?
    https://forums.adobe.com/message/5618417
I've built a flash ios app that relies on the input from 5 keys to function. I'm using Flash CS6 and AIR 13.0.0.111 for iOS. The app wont recognize the input from my bluetooth keyboard though.
This code works until loaded onto the iPhone:
    stage.addEventListener(KeyboardEvent.KEY_DOWN, ScrollDown);
    function ScrollDown(e:KeyboardEvent):void{
    if (e.keyCode == 83){
I guess in need to use a event.CHANGE listener but I can't find any similar tutorials to follow.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know how wireless keyboard work for iDevices...
Try to add StageText, tap on it and try to edit text using your keyboard. Could StageText hook keyboard input?

  • Apple Wireless keyboard and slow response

I just purchased a 27" Retina display iMac. It came with a wireless keyboard but every now and then, typing on it can be painful as the letter won't show up on the screen until after a few seconds. Has anyone out there had this problem and figured out how to fix this? I checked the battery level and it's at 100%. Running Yosemite.

I'm also having Bluetooth problems. The mouse periodically "slows to a crawl" and I have to cycle it's power.

  • Blue Screen of Death from Apple Wireless Keyboard in Windows 7

    Hi all,
Situation: I have Windows 7 Professional 64 bit installed (boot camp) on my late 2008 MBP. Oftentimes, I'm plugged in to an LED Cinema display and work off of the Apple Wireless Keyboard & Magic Mouse. The Boot Camp partition / Drivers were originally installed from a Snow Leopard DVD. My Apple Software update reports that all my Apple Windows Software is up-to-date.
Problem: Since installing Windows 7 back in May, I've experienced the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) 5 times. Each time has resulted from a key press on my bluetooth keyboard after it had been sitting idle for some time and presumably gone into power save mode. Any key press causes an instantaneous BSOD. It only occurs when I'm running windows and I'm working off my bluetooth keyboard so it's hard to replicate and likewise hard to troubleshoot and determine if a fix has worked.
*Error Details:* Here's some information I've extracted from the BSOD dump files.

+The problem seems to be caused by the following file: ntoskrnl.exe+

    Paul

I'm experiencing the same problem with the BSODs while using my Apple wireless keyboard (latest model).
I'm running Windows 7 x64 and admit that I bypassed the BootCamp software/driver installation wizard after it complained that my model didn't support installation of the x64 drivers. Its a bit of a gray area, as my system is 64-bit capable and many services and applications run in 64-bit mode without my intervention.
Just curious if Windows 7 x86 users are experiencing these BSODs or is it a coincidence that you all are installing the drivers creatively.

  • I have a first gen iPad, and it will randomly go home from the Internet when I don't press any button.  I have a wireless connection at home.

I have a first gen iPad, and it will randomly go home from the Internet when I don't press any button.  I have a wireless connection at home.  Is this a known bug?  What can I do?

You maybe running low on memory since you are using the original iPad with iOS 5.1.1 and the iPad is crashing. This may help and it certainly won't hurt.
Quit all apps completely and reboot the iPad. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the recents tray will appear with all of your recent apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
Do this before you launch Safari again. Go to Settings>Safari>Clear Cookies and Data. You don't have to clear the history.

  • Wireless keyboard function keys don't work even though updated

    Hi,
like i read in different threads, many others had this problem too.
The function keys of my bluetooth keyboard (aluminium 2009) don't work even though i did firmware update for mighty mouse AND the keyboard firmware update. I also unset the option 'use function keys with fn......' option in system preferences. I also tried disconnecting and connecting the device. In system profiler the entry says it is (still) firmware version 80.
    What can i do?
    I'm thankful for any hint.
    Best, Jörg

wrote this in another thread, but it is relevant here, too.
Wanting to buy a keyboard and reading this thread (and others), I went to a local Best Buy. They had quite a few of the wireless keyboards out. They had MC184LL(A) models and (B) models.
ALL of the (A) models worked perfectly with the iPad (typing, brightness, volume, ipod functions, etc).
NONE of the (B) models worked other than basic typing.
They had a stack of maybe 50 new wireless keyboards on the shelf. All but two of them were (B) models.
I bought one of the two (A) models. It is working perfectly on my iPad.

  • My apple wireless keyboard is just over a year old, but I find that delete ( backspace ) button no longer functions, has anyone else experienced this problem, do I need to have it looked at by an apple technician ?

My apple wireless keyboard is just over a year old, but Ifind the delete ( spacebar ) button does not function, does any one know if this is a common fault, do I need to have an apple technician to take a look at it?

It appears to be out of date so far as the warranty is concerned.  There may have been some minor detritus slipped down the side of the key.  See if you can find a buush with stiff but fine hair.   Perhaps a toothbrush.  Then brush around the key.   It is possible to remove the key if you are very careful and that would make it easier but you have to be very careful.   You are sure there hasn't been any liquid spilt; even the smallest amount can cause a drama..
