Display disappearing

I'm having problems with my computer screen freezing up for a quick second and then the display goes black for a second, and then the display comes back. This also sometimes results in the blue screen of death with the "IRQ NOT LESS THAN..." message (not sure exactly what it all says since it goes by so quick). This happens at completely random times so I haven't figured out a way to narrow it down to one specific thing.
I've looked at the IRQs and adjusted everything so that nothing is sharing an IRQ so it shouldn't be that, but I still have not been able to solve the problem. (GRR ITS HAPPENED AGAIN!!!) I'm wondering if maybe increasing the voltages to either the graphics card or the memory will help solve the problem. I'm assuming that it is one of these two things that is causing the problem, although I don't know much about voltages so I don't even know what would be a good voltage to raise to for either one of these. I've ran memtest for hours, mulitple times with no errors, and I've also checked the MSI website and they recommend using this memory and having it in slots 1 and 2 like I have it. I've also tried different slots and taking out one of the sticks, but still no help. So I'm assuming that it is not the memory that is the problem. Currently I am running bios 1.4 with all the latest chipset and graphics card drivers. I'm really stuck and EXTREMELY frustrated with this problem because I just can not seem to figure out what it is. Hopefully someone out there can help me?!??

Ive tried every Nvidia driver so far that has come out in the last 4 months and none of them of helped yet... You probably just missed in my original post(cause its so long) that I cleared up all of the IRQ problems, so now nothing is sharing an IRQ. Cause I know that there is a problem if you use the onboard LAN than, this shares an IRQ with the AGP slot, so I added a separate ethernet card to clear up the add on sharing. Also played around with different combinations in the rest of the PCI slots to make sure no other hardware were sharing IRQs. If you got any other suggestions I'd be glad to hear them

I'm sure I will be calling AppleCare, but the problem is, they charge for the phone calls don't they? Because I don't have money to be spending to be on the phone with a support service.
In other things, it seemed like the only time my MacBook was working was when I had Snow Leopard without the 10.6.8 update download that was supposed to be done to prepare for OS X Lion.
When I look at the information of my HD it says that I have 10.6.8 but that was the install that it claimed to have failed and caused me to restart resulting in all of the repeated problems.
Also, because my computer is currently down, and I've lost all files how would that effect the use of my iPhone? Because if it doesn't get fixed by the time OS 5 is released, how would I be able to upgrade?!

2nd display disappears on switching focus to another application

Hi,
I'm running LR5 on Windows. I've got the grid view on my primary display and a second display showing the loupe view.
If the focus moves to another application (i.e. a small notepad window on the primary display) then I can still see LR with its grid view in the background behind notepad on the primary display however the loupe view on the second display disappears and I can see the desktop.
Is it possible to configure LR not to automatically hide the 2nd display when the input foucs moves to a different wiindow? I'd like to be able to continue displaying the image on the 2nd display while I'm doing something else on the primary display.
I've not been able to check but I've a feeling this is new behaviour in 5, I don't think 3 or 4 did this.

Display disappearing in viewer and in ext monitor

I am at my second project using Color, so I'm pretty new to it.
The first time it worked out fine.
This time I am encountering a strange problem.
I send the project from FCP, it takes me a couple of times to get it to open in Color, but I finally make it.
Once in Color I start grading my shots. As soon as I drag a grade from one shot to another though, the displays disappear, either my external display than the one in the viewer on my computer monitors, and there's nothing I can do to get it back. I have to resend the project back from FCP, just to have the same problem occur.
Anybody has any idea why it's doing that?

Nope. We aren't looking over your shoulder so how can we tell based upon the information you've not given?
It would nice to know what video format you're working with. It would be nice to know if you've followed the stringent rules for prepping your sequences for Color. It would be nice to know your equipment software/hardware infrastructure.
But to throw a guess out there, since you're using a G5, I'm guessing your video card is substandard and not liking what you're using for video.

Display disappearing after two seconds

My Macbook (about 2 years old) was fine all of last night, but this morning I opened it up and the display disappeared after a minute. Now it disappears after just a brief second.
I can toy with the brightness bringing it down all the way then up one, and it appears and then disappears quickly. Same thing happens when I close it and open it again.
Anybody got any ideas?

Not sure but it sounds like the inverter, which is the power supply for the backlight, is failing. Do you have an Apple Care extended warranty?

Command line display disappears during boot [solved]

I've brought my machine up to date with systemd, and have run into this latest problem. I boot with syslinux. My machine has started giving me kernel panics when I boot with the primary configuration, which had
acpi=off
in the append line, I believe to address this very problem. If I boot with the fallback, which does not have this entry, I get a boot that I can access over ssh, but the command line display disappears after running through a few lines. Commenting out the acpi language in the primary gives the same result as the fallback.
If I can't boot with it in there, and can't see the screen with it out, what do I do?

I was looking for some information on the boot process to explain what changes during the boot to cause the screen to go from visible to invisible. When it used to boot, I remember a font change happening part way through the boot, but don't remember what caused it. Searching for the boot process on the wiki only gives the systemd page, and I didn't find anything there that was helpful in this regard.
I am downloading a live iso and will try booting with that to see if the display issues are present using that approach.

Ok, it had nothing to do with acpi. I was running the nvidia driver. My machine has a processor with a gpu, and apparently it decided to hand off to my intel gpu, which has nothing attached to it, instead of sticking with the nvidia. May have to do with KMS (wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Kernel_Mode_Setting). So I deleted the nvidia driver per the wiki instructions and added the nouveau driver, enabled the KMS per the instructions, and now I have a command prompt.

Caller Display disappeared after I ordered Privacy...

I have always had Caller Display as a call feature. I recently found out that you can have Caller display for free under Privacy at Home, so I cancelled the paid feature and ordered Privacy at Home instead. I have received written confirmation from BT, and Caller Display disappeared, despite having Privacy at Home!! I dialled *#234# and received the message that "the service requested is not available". I want Caller Display even if I have to pay for it, but when I logged onto Change Calling features, I could not find the option "Caller Display". What's happening? Can someone help?

Seems that since you ordered privacy on line they have forgot to add the caller display option.

Timeline frame display disappears when viewing area bar changed

I'm trying CS4 and one of the frustrating things compared to Pro 1.5 is when I change the zoom using the viewing area bar all the frames that were displayed disappear and the only way to bring them back is to click in the area where they should be. In 1.5 the frames would disappear while the bar was being moved, but would be redrawn when the mouse button was released. Why doesn't the bar behave like this? The zoom slider does the right thing but is far too coarse.

Time display disappears on timeline

I'm beginning to import audio on slides now and for some reason the time display disappears from time to time from the timeline. When this happens I can't manually adjust where the playhead is either.

Sorry, have been busy preparing for a trip and have had little time to try your suggestions out. I tried a new blank project and BRIEFLY tried it by throwing a couple of images in and it seems to be fine.
So it may be that one project. Something one of my colleagues found (as she is having the same issue, so not sure if it is just isolated to this one project) is that by manually shifting the slide bar at the bottom the time display. She found this screen shot online:
This seems to be a stop-gap and gives the display in the moment, but is not a permanent fix. This may be a clue that it disappears by manually moving the slider at the bottom in the first place. A hypothesis, I have yet to try it out at this point. Will let you know when I get back from my trip in a couple of weeks.

Album Art Not Displaying/Disappearing

I've had the iTouch for a week & all of a sudden most of the album art disappeared from the iTouch. I synced again, some came back but much of the album art does not display even though it's in the iTunes library. Also, album art is duplicated for other/different artists. What's happening? Any solutions?

This is also happening to me.
First the album art vanished, and then I would resync, and the album art would go to different albums.
my Breaking Benjamin album art went on my Frank Sinatra album, and my Gnarls Barkley album.
My 50 Cent album art went to the Brad paisley album, and the Rufus Wainwright album .This is doing this, even after I updated the iPod.

Page display disappeared

Help! indesign CS5 page has vanished whilst working on it and now won't display at all. I grabbed the top of the document page and moved it up on screen when it disappeared into the top toolbar. I have managed to save the work, before quitting out. When I reopen inDesign the document won't display. How can I get it back?

If you're on a Mac, first make sure you have the application frame activated. From the Window menu choose Arrange > Consolidate all Windows.

Tool Tip Display Disappears/Bug/Glitch

I am having an issue with the tool tip function. When i mouse over multipe triggers quickly and then stop. The tool tip displays comes on and then disppaears. This is happening on multiple sites that i have. here is one example.

If you mouse over the yellow boxes you will see the display come on. The yellow boxes are the triggers alone with a color fill provided by muse. If you scroll through them quickly and then stop at one, even if you are in the dead center of the trigger and it recognizes it's on rollover, the display will appear and disappear.

From more testing it seems that chrome is not recognizing when I mouse over the trigger for the tool tip to become active but instead stay on the mouse over state.

Mavericks Mail Address Displays Disappearing

Okay this one's weird.
It seems like it happens when I wake my display from sleep, but sometimes in the message view window, the To and CC fields just disappear. If I move the mouse over them, the addresses will show back up in the blue bubble, but they won't stay. I've tried changing view options, toggling Smart Addresses, restarting Mail to no avail. Rebooting is the only reliable fix I've found to date. It happens both in the preview pane (I use Classic layout) or if I pop the message out into its own window. I've tried moving between spaces and between monitors as well.
Anyone else seen this? I did a search and didn't see it, but it's a hard thing on which to search.

The preference that most closely matches the description of your issue is the header detail preference, which is explained in the following article:

HTML Code Display - Disappearing???

Running into an issue, not sure how to fix this.
I am building a link to an external .htm file that will be included with our help CHMs. It's staying external because this allows us to update it at any time without having to update any CHM itself by re-importing and building. The html files are in the same folder as the help CHMs.
Normal hyperlinking doesn't seem to work - the CHM can't apparently see the content of topic, and may be running into an issue because it appears to be trying to open within the help screen rather than through a browser like IE or Firefox.
So I did some googling and found the following html code which works like a charm:

The issue I'm running into is that this code doesn't display in RoboHelp itself. That is, if I view the topic in Design mode, the hyperlink text ("Doc name" in the example above) never shows. And if I go between design and html, or close and reopen, the code disappears in the HTML view as well. The code is still there - the links show up as designed (and work) whenever I compile the project. I just can't find a way of getting them to display in RH beyond staying in the HTML view for that topic after inserting the code.
Any ideas why this is happening, and what can be done?

You could try an iFrame. Much easier in RoboHelp 9 I believe but also available in RoboHelp 8.
