Display driver for IBM Thinkpad T60 on Windows 7

Hi,
I've just installed windows 7 on my T60. It seems that the display driver (Intel GMA 950) is not behaving the way it used to behave in windows XP. I tried to install everything I could find on the support web site. They say that the support for display driver for T60 has been dropped for Windows Vista onwards. Is there any fix for this problem?
Any help is appreciated...
Thanks,
Harsh

The Win 7 is still in beta version, there is still no official support for it.... I don't think Intel will drop support for the GMA 950 GPU, as this way a lot of relatively new laptop will still be useless.

Jin Li

  • NVIDIA Optimus Display Driver for Windows 7 (64-bit) - ThinkPad

The display driver available at http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds029106 is advertised as being version 9.18.13.3302 / 8.15.10.2725, released on 5/20/2014, but what can really be downloaded from the URL (g5de45ww.exe) is actually a two-year old driver from 2012, version 9.17.10.2483 for Intel HD 4000. Does anyone know from where the current, up-to-date display driver for Intel HD 4000 in the T430 can be downloaded?

On lenovo blogs someone asked Russ Compton (lenovo employee) this question, see his reply below:-
"Q: Is this a software/driver update that can be applied to existing switchable graphics T410s models, or is there a hardware change which means it’s a feature of new “Optimus systems” only.
A: Amardeep, that is a good question. All ThinkPads shipping today will be Optimus enabled if running Win 7.. The current T410, T410s and T510 that are in the field will not be able to upgrade. The changes are the following: 1- Graphics Driver, 2- BIOS UPDATE 3- EEPROM Flash. So the hardware is not changing, but the upgrade to Optimus is not supported due to the EEPROM update that is required."

  • Missing windows 7 display driver for my Toshiba Satellite?

    Hello everyone,
I've got a problem with the display driver of my laptop. Specifically, the display driver is stop working when I awaken the device from a sleep. I have tried to update the driver from Toshiba Australia but surprisingly I did not find the display driver for my model. So I tried to use the vista drivers but the problem still exist. Unfortunately ATI does not provide the drivers directly to Toshiba notebook instead they advice to go to Toshiba. Can any one advice me how fix this problem. My Toshiba specification details as follows:
    Satellite Notebook
    Series A300
    Product: PSAG4A-02500M
    Operating system Windows 7 64-bit.

There's a link on the Australian A300 driver page "unable to find W7 drivers - click here" (its in red, small and not obvious). Looks like you want to go here [http://support.toshiba-tie.co.jp/windows7/download/Satellite_A300_64_au.htm]

  • Satellite L10-190 - Display driver for Windows 7

    Hi,
reading the message below *I* *wonder about this anwer* from Toshiba support! Why *not* installing Win 7 on an "oldie"? I did the same and it works very well. But I have got the same problem as Assim. And everybody knows, that Intel has not the intention to allocate a Win 7-driver for this chip (INTEL 82852/82855 GM/GME Graphics). In my opinion, this is not a correct behaviour.
I think either TOSHIBA or INTEL should allocate such a driver for their clients. This would be a minimum of support. Perhaps you think about...
    Best regards,

    Correct
    Hi
Im wondering that you installed Windows 7 on this oldie. In my opinion Windows XP would be the better choice but ok, you can do what you want ;)
Anyway, as far as I know your notebook is equipped with an Intel graphic card so I would recommend downloading the driver form Intel directly because the Toshiba website shows only Windows XP display drivers.
    http://www.intel.com
    Check this!!!

It is not so easy like you think. As you know hardware and software development goes together. With other words with new operating system there are new requirements for hardware and you can see on new notebooks sticker like Designed for WXP or Designed for Vista.
So now you and many other notebook users have old piece of hardware but want to use newest and latest software on it. OK I can understand it but can you understand that notebook manufacturer on some step must say: enough for old models. Who want to have newest stuff must also have newest hardware. Maybe sounds stupid now but for me it sounds logical.
The whole consumer products industry follows this logic I think.
You must also understand that support is not cheap and if you want to support old hardware with new operating systems you must have team of programmers who must design hundreds of drivers, tools and utilities and also many people who must test it before it comes to the customers. It is the army of people who are very expensive.
How the question is: is this rentable for the industry? To be honest I don't think so.

  • Trouble installing latest Intel Display Driver for Windows 7

Anyone else experiencing issues trying to install the latest Intel Display Driver for Windows 7, version 8.15.10.2057, dated 2 Mar 2010?
This is the second updated driver release that refuses to install due the following error while running setup.exe: This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software.
I've verified compatibility and have disabled Switchable graphics and selected Integrated Graphics in the BIOS
    System: T400, 2764-CTO running Windows 7 (64-bit)
    Thanks...
    T400 2764CTO
    Windows 7 x64

    bwpotter,
Appears you selected the right .inf file for Win7/64. Notwithstanding the error flags, are you sure the driver did not install?
For WinXP/32, the equivalent file name is kit22686.inf. In the case of WinXP (likely similar for Vista and Win7), Lenovo's file-set will unpack to C:\drivers\WIN\DISPLAY2. The .inf file that appears in the Device Manager install-routine lives one level down, in C:\drivers\WIN\DISPLAY2\Graphics. Only one .inf file resides in this directory.
When forcing installation of the driver under WinXP, error messages appear that are similar (but not necessarily identical) to those you encountered. Still, after a sequence of five or six such error messages, the driver does load and can be verified after a reboot. (The new driver has performed to spec for the past several days--no issues whatsoever.)
The final splash screen in the series reports "Completing the Hardware Update Wizard." (This message does not, however, necessarily denote a successful installation.)
In the case of WinXP, the errors appear to be generated by the installer, igxpun.exe (v1.2.30.0). Note that the flaky display driver installation should generate an error log. Search for an error log file using the string "*appcompat.txt" (no quotes) and see what it says.
In the end, the problems with this package can be attributed to simple sloppiness (vendors commonly forget to eat their dog food) and should be quickly fixed if the community barks loudly.
    Hope this helps.

  • Satellite P205-S6237 - Display driver for Windows 7

When I boot up Windows 7, after the Windows 7 logo my screen goes black. The computer is still on, I just can't see anything. I can access safe mode just fine.
If I disable the two Mobile Intel 945 Express Chipset Family drivers, I can get into Windows 7 however I can't use hibernate or sleep mode, and the highest resolution is 1280x800. I need a driver that works. Please help me.
I've downloaded all the drivers and tried them from Toshiba & Intel however none of them work

    Hi buddy,
Its not a good idea installing all drivers you can find. This could muddle up the operating system and cause such errors.
Usually the drivers provided on Toshiba page are always work. At the moment I would recommend removing all display drivers that you have installed now (you can do this in safe mode). Then restart your computer (also in safe mode) and run a registry cleaner like CCleaner to remove old registry keys. Restart again and now install the newest Toshiba display driver for your model.
Your model is listed on Toshiba US page:

  • Tecra A2: WDDM / LDDM display driver for Windows Vista

I've searched on different sites for an AeroGlas compatible display driver for my Tecra A2. I'v haven't found anything on Intel or Toshiba sites. Is there a chance for such a driver??
    Thanks
    Sincerely
    Stefan

    Hi
    What is AeroGlas?
Is it a special application which is not compatible with the graphic driver?
Unfortunately, Toshiba recommend using own original graphic drivers because they are a little bit modified.
The graphic drivers support a overheating protection of the graphic cards.
If the temperature of the graphic card increases to the critical level the driver decreases the card performance.
However, if the Toshiba drivers and Intel graphic drivers doesnt work so I assume there is no much to do ;(

  • T43 IBM Thinkpad, I installed Windows XP pro on a new harddisk, found no netowork

T43 IBM Thinkpad, I installed Windows XP pro on a new harddisk, found no network,  so installed drivers for the chipset and network. Still no way to go on inernet.
Folloing drivers i installed from following site. What do I do now:
    http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/research/hints-or-tips/detail.page?&DocID=HT035703

Hi guys and thanks for your help. Yes, after authenication and working on this Windows partition, I have less than 3GB space. Also, I cannot drag and drop files from desktop, like a text file into the Windows partition. Says it doesn't have permissions to drop files.
It looks like now I will in fact have to start from scratch and repartition the HD but put in a minimal 12GB or so into the Windows partition. Also, I tried to name the Windows label, but it's locked and under get info, it says the Windows partition is read only, ownership grayed out and says it is NT coded format. Shouldn't that be MS-DOS or FAT 32 automatically?
I have to tell all of you that this is getting time consuming, too complicated and when I get my own ProBook, I have no desire to install VISTA or MS whatever. Plus, we have to still do the MS security pack updates and install virus software for the Windows partition, isn't that correct?
Is there a step by step link here like a BootCamp/Windows XP Pro installation tutorial so I can move a bit faster on my next attempt?
    Thanks SteveB

  • Old display driver for Satellite U920T-10J

    Hi,
My display settings say: generic pnp monitor with a driver date of 2006. Updating the display settings does not change this.
What is the proper display driver for this laptop and how can i change it?

    >My display settings say: generic pnp monitor with a driver date of 2006.
This is NOT graphic card driver.
The +generic pnp monitor+ entry appears within the Monitors section and the mentioned driver from 2006 is part of the Windows system and its common Microsoft driver which cannot be updated.
The _graphic card driver_ is listed within the section called Display adapters and this driver could be updated (if neccessary). So please dont mix both entries.

  • Display Driver for W2k for Satellite L20-112

    hello!
i am looking for a display driver for the Satellite L20-112 for Windows 2000.
Can anybody please help me. I am looking for the Driver for a long time. I have the ATI Radeon Xpress 200M.
I downloaded the Catalysp 5.13, but it still say that "Video Driver not found - INF Error".
    Thankx for helping
    bye

    Hi Kevin,
As far as I know the L20 range was only supplied with Windows XP so it is unlikely that you will be able to get a suitable Windows 2000 Display Driver from Toshiba.
As you have already found out it is usually not possible to use the graphics manufacturers drivers directly since the graphics card is specially modified for use in a notebook.
You could try using third party drivers from sites such as http://www.omegadrivers.net/
    best of luck

    Hello
Like Joao said, the graphic driver for this unit is only available for Xp and W2k.

Well, you can check other Toshiba notebooks which have the same graphic card and try to download this driver.
You can also try to search on the European Toshiba website for the units with the same graphic card.
