Display driver trouble

I have a Compaq Presario c700, and I am continually having problems with the screen going blank (black), recovering, going blank, recovering, then going to a blue screen. When the screen recovers, it gives me a brief message that the "display driver" has failed and recovered. When the blue screen appears (sorry, don't have the language it tells me - will add here when I see it again), the only way to get my computer back to functioning properly is to press the power button down and restart.
Can I just re-install a display driver? If so, can you recommend where I can do this for free?
HELP!

What is your exact model number? C700s all use the Intel integrated graphics so they are not prone to the same types of graphics issues as the dv6000 series. This type of issue is notoriously hard to diagnose. Since the graphics uses system memory it can be as simple as a bad stick of memory in the computer. It can also be a bad motherboard, or even a virus. Unfortunately simply loading a new driver is not likely to help much. It usually requires a reload of Windows just to take the system back to a baseline for testing. Even before that you would want to run a memory test to see if maybe it is just bad RAM. Also run a full scan in safe mode with Malwarebytes. After that I would try uninstalling the old driver from the device manager, rebooting and installing the latest chipset and video driver here:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=2093&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=3559...
I would also try updating the BIOS. if none of that works I would try the Windows wipe and reload and lastly I would begin to assume it is a bad motherboard.
Post back with questions and we can try to help.

• Update of photoshop CC - trouble with NVIDIA Quadro 1000M display driver. PS freezes

Hey guys,
Since today I've got trouble with my PS CC.
I've updated PS CC yesterday 2014-12-12.
I was doing some drawings today and two times PS freezes during switching layers of or selecting a mask.
A message appeared that there was trouble with the display driver an PS switched off the GPU support because of that issue.
Ok, I thought let's update the display driver and so I've done today. I switched to actual NVIDIA display driver version 314.21
I'm working with an NVIDIA Quadro 1000M on a DELL mobile Workstation Precision M4600 with 8 GB RAM.
Now when I start up PS and press alt+k, my 2 displays showing a black screen for 1-2 seconds.
After closing the general setup window again black screen for 1-2 sec and the top menu bar is showing no entries.
When I move the mouse pointer over the bar, the menus appear again. But the bar is like transparent at the parts where no menues are.
When I unlock the window from the screen an put it back fitting to the screen everything looks like normal.
Till today I hadn't any problem with my notebook in that kind of way.
Maybe someone has or had similar problems.
Would be nice if someone can help me.
thanks

Oh, that sounds very bad. It's not that bad for me. It's not crashing that often at the moment, only black screens at start up or if setting dialog is opened. But I will see tomorrow how often it will crash, during today it crashed 2 times when doing some ridiculous simple actions like switchid to another layer and the other time when trying to edit an mask layer. I will contact the support chat on monday regarding this issue. Maybe there is a solution or an update soon... I keep may fingers crossed for you.

• Trouble installing latest Intel Display Driver for Windows 7

Anyone else experiencing issues trying to install the latest Intel Display Driver for Windows 7, version 8.15.10.2057, dated 2 Mar 2010?
This is the second updated driver release that refuses to install due the following error while running setup.exe: This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software.
I've verified compatibility and have disabled Switchable graphics and selected Integrated Graphics in the BIOS
System: T400, 2764-CTO running Windows 7 (64-bit)
Thanks...

bwpotter,
Appears you selected the right .inf file for Win7/64. Notwithstanding the error flags, are you sure the driver did not install?
For WinXP/32, the equivalent file name is kit22686.inf. In the case of WinXP (likely similar for Vista and Win7), Lenovo's file-set will unpack to C:\drivers\WIN\DISPLAY2. The .inf file that appears in the Device Manager install-routine lives one level down, in C:\drivers\WIN\DISPLAY2\Graphics. Only one .inf file resides in this directory.
When forcing installation of the driver under WinXP, error messages appear that are similar (but not necessarily identical) to those you encountered. Still, after a sequence of five or six such error messages, the driver does load and can be verified after a reboot. (The new driver has performed to spec for the past several days--no issues whatsoever.)
The final splash screen in the series reports "Completing the Hardware Update Wizard." (This message does not, however, necessarily denote a successful installation.)
In the case of WinXP, the errors appear to be generated by the installer, igxpun.exe (v1.2.30.0). Note that the flaky display driver installation should generate an error log. Search for an error log file using the string "*appcompat.txt" (no quotes) and see what it says.
In the end, the problems with this package can be attributed to simple sloppiness (vendors commonly forget to eat their dog food) and should be quickly fixed if the community barks loudly.
Hope this helps.

• R400/T400/T500/W500: display driver "amdkmdap" crashes

Executive summary: All current Lenovo ThinkPads with switchable graphics (R400, T400, T500, and W500) have usability issues in connection with Vista and the use of external monitors. For more than half a year, users were plagued by frequent Windows crashes. During that time frame, Lenovo did not comment on the various available reports and complaints. By the end of April 2009, Lenovo resolved many issues by releasing a new official driver. Though several problems, including severe ones, remain as of today. Lenovo has said to be actively working on the remaining issues (without outcomes so far).
Important information for affected users: If you're having one of the issues reported here, then Lenovo advises you to call your local Lenovo Support. Demand that a case is submitted to hardware engineering. In particular, you should ask for "a CMVC case to be created and escalated". Using these "code words" ensures that your case is properly addressed.
Old problem description
On Vista 32 and Vista 64, the ATI display driver "amdkmdap" crashes when an external monitor was active before OR an application (game) using DirectX technology is used. The user typically receives a couple of so-called "Timeout Detection and Recovery" (TDR) messages from Vista:
(Click here for an explanation of the message from Microsoft)
Sometimes, amdkmdap crashes several times in a row. Then Windows crashes with a so-called "BSOD", likely resulting in data loss. Typically, Windows detects "atikmpag.sys" as the crashing driver. Sometimes, also an instantaneous reboot happens independent of prior TDR crashes. In such a case, no BSOD is displayed.
The following movie illustrates the phenomenon: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LBX9QsCmrpY
This behavior above has been confirmed for the following ThinkPad models: R400, T400, T500, and W500 (see below). Problem reports indicate that the symptoms are often related to playing games and/or the notebook being docked and the external monitor being connected via DVI.
Though, the presence of these two conditions is not necessary to trigger the driver crash:
There are reports where no dock was involved and the external monitor was connected directly to the notebook's VGA port.
Furthermore, there are reports where the notebook was docked and an external monitor was connected to the DVI port.
So far, there has been no report relating to a monitor being connected to the Display Port which is available on some models. (Possibly because this port is not used.)
There are a few reports where neither a dock nor an external monitor was involved.
Playing certain games reliably triggers the crash.
Steps to reproduce
While intially (around September 2008 - October 2008) the crash could be triggered easily, the situation is now (December 2008) more complex. The crashes do still occur, though there is no clear pattern anymore. According to various reports, the display driver crash can be triggered as follows:
Resuming from standby
Watching a DVD.
Playing one of these games: Fallout 3, Bioshock, Team Fortress 2, Knights of the Old Republic.
Arbitrarily during normal work. On a normal working day, the problem occurs at least once.
Further issues
Here are more issues which seem to be related. More information can be found in other posts of this thread:
The notebook display and/or the external monitor runs at a low resolution after resuming from standby.
After the login both monitors flicker while adjusting the resolution of the monitor.
The external monitors cannot be activated using Presentation Director.
The external monitor is blank after docking or undocking.
There are some reports about display driver crashes on machines running Windows XP.
The switchable graphics drivers limit the useable RAM under Vista 32 to 2.5GB (i.e. 500MB-1GB less than usual).
Workarounds
Lenovo has released a new "tip" document which provides a link to a new driver. Get it here but be sure to read the instructions!
(Old tips follow below the line. Consider them as obsolete.)
Here are some tips which might make the problem occur less often. I have not tried all of them. Though, A. and B. have improved the situation for me; your mileage may vary.
A. If you do not have to use an external monitor, then switch to Intel graphics for time being.
Otherwise:
B. Make some changes to your system:
Disable Aero.
Create a new profile in the power manager with the following setting: When running on AC, turn off the monitor after 40 minutes. (Thereby, the notebook goes less often to standby.)
Install the newest graphics drivers.
Install the newest BIOS.
Install the newest Hotkey utility.
Install the newest drivers.
C. Disable the switchable graphics in the BIOS setup and install modded drivers from ATI (see zilla's post in this thread for instructions).
The last workaround (C.) has been confirmed to work reliably by several users. Though, thereby you use drivers which have not been tested by Lenovo. It's possible (but not very likely) that damage results by doing so. Also, it might be difficult to install a future Lenovo driver which resolves the issues reported here. Finally, you cannot use the power-saving Intel graphics. Thus, you should only use this workaround if you know what you are doing.
The programs can be downloaded from the following locations. Notice that System Update does not always offer you immediately the lastest versions.
R400 and T400 users: Go here.
T500 and W500 users: Go here.
User opinions
"Is there any chance this will be fixed, or should I just get used to my "workstation-class" machine crashing regularly?"
"I [am] thinking about to sell my w500 if this problems won't be fixed in the next weeks."
"I've got a T400 w/ Vista 64 and I'll say the Switchable drivers on it S[**]K bad."
"Unfortunately for Lenovo, our IT Manager is at the point of a awarding a new and rather substantial Enterprise Agreement for our whole organization's PC's, which included a rollout of many new PC's for 2009. The contract was going to go to Lenovo. He mumbled something about HP when I asked him about the state of affairs with my PC... [O]ur firm's IT Manager decided to return all the faulty Lenovo's for a refund and would replace them with HP's."
"Is someone from Lenovo paying attention[?]"
"i'm getting angry with ati and lenovo."
"there are no new drivers and no ETA for a fix."
"ThinkPads are supposed to be good, so you'd think there wouldn't be a problem like this."
"honestly it is completely unacceptable for lenovo to have done nothing this long. I paid extra to get the ATI card, and now I can't hook up my laptop to an external monitor without it crashing. I will probably end up selling the laptop soon since using an external monitor is extremely important to me and lenovo doesn't seem to care about fixing the situation."

Original post
Hi there!
I have major troubles using a Dell 2709W monitor with my T400.
The notebook is attached to a Advanced Mini Dock to which the monitor is connected via DVI.
The problems are as follows.
A. Activating the external monitor often fails
Steps to reproduce:
1. Attach a Dell 2709W via DVI to an Advanced Mini Dock which is connected to a T40
2. Start Windows and make sure that the T400 is running on the ATI card.
=> Dell monitor enters power saving mode because no signal is coming.
3. In Windows use either the Presentation Director, Windows, or the ATI tools to activate the Dell monitor.
Expected result: The Dell monitor is activated and the Windows desktop is shown on it.
Actual result: It takes 1-3 seconds for the Dell monitor to display something. The monitor shows the Windows desktop for a short period. Then it's black again and the monitor returns to the power saving mode .
Analysis: It seems that the Presentation Director, Windows, or the ATI tools (or more aptly, I guess, the ATI driver) expect a quick response from the DVI-port that a monitor is present. If they do not receive the response, the DVI-port is deactivated again. Since the monitor is too slow to respond and enters the power saving mode too quickly, the monitor can hardly ever be activated.
Suggested change: Change these tools (or the ATI driver) so that they wait longer for a response on the DVI-port.
B. Resuming from monitor sleep causes Windows to fall back to a low resolution if the Dell monitor was activated before
Steps to reproduce:
1. Attach a Dell 2709W via DVI to an Advanced Mini Dock which is connected to a T400
2. Start Windows and make sure that the T400 is running on the ATI card.
3. Select the Energy Star profile
4. Activate the Dell monitor
5. Don't use Windows until the notebook display and the Dell monitor are set to sleep by Windows.
6. Wake up the displays (e.g. by pressing some keys)
Expected result: Both displays are run in the display mode as before.
Actual result: The Dell monitor still sleeps. The notebook displays is run at a lower resolution (I guess 800x600). The Windows login prompt is not visible and it has to be guessed that it is shown. Though the typical Windows login background is visible. If the password is entered, then Windows can be used again. Though, the resolution is still low and the Dell monitor still sleeps.
Analysis: It seems that by sending the Dell monitor to sleep, the monitor deactivates the DVI-interface or enters a low-power interface mode. This seems to disturb some component in Windows (the Presentation Director, Windows, the ATI tools, the ATI driver) in a way that Windows only activates the notebook display when it resumes from "monitor sleep".
Suggested change: Change these tools (or the ATI driver) so that they can cope with the situation that the DVI-interface is deactivated and wait longer for the interface to be in a useable state. Reactivate an external monitor even if it "sleeps very deeply".

Solved!
Go to Solution.

Lenovo support made me reinstall presentation director to rule out this component as a factor. After the reinstallation, the amdkmdap-problem is still present. Letting Windows go to standby and waking the system up afterwards, is a reliable method in my case to reproduce the problem on condition that an external monitor was active. The problem does not occur if no external monitor is present.
A web search for "amdkmdap", "atikmpag","BSOD" with one of the ThinkPad-series names (like "T400") shows that other persons also have this problem with R400s, T400s, T500s, and W500s:

- Why Vista crashes so often when dual display is enabled?
- Vista and 7.3 Display driver atikmdag stopped responding error
- 4870 vista x64 multi-mon = atikdmag BOOM
In the cases in which people observe the "amdkmdap"-problem and describe the circumstances, the use of an external monitor is always a factor. These other reports also indicate that it is likely not an issue with the hardware of my notebook (or then a general problem for many batches of these machine types). For it happens a) on many systems and b) on different kinds of systems.
If others want to contribute to the problem solution, then we should provide Lenovo and ATI a good problem description. So, please add your description.

• Multiple Adobe Applications "Missing" Display Driver

I am now using the following system configuration:
2 NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970s
5960X CPU
2 850 Pro SSD drives
32 GB DDR4 RAM
Windows 8.1 Pro
A list of my currently installed applications can be seen here:
1
I am having problems with 4 utterly crucial applications:
Photoshop, Premiere Pro, SpeedGrade and After Effects. They were just installed last night; they are the most recent version.
Here are the error messages that I am receiving for each program:
Photoshop "detected an error in [my] display driver" and won't allow me to use any 3D options or even the either of the graphics cards.
2
Premiere Pro won't even enter the workspace and gives me the following error message: "Adobe Premiere Pro could not find any capable video play modules. Please update your video display drivers and start again." After this message it crashes.
34
SpeedGrade won't even launch whenever I try to open it. The cursor begins to spin as if it's doing something and then quits. I've tried opening it several times, even with Administrator Permissions, but to no avail. It just won't open at all and doesn't even bring up the entry loading screen.
After Effects is a whole heap of trouble, with three error messages coming up:
Firstly, "After Effects crashed previously attempting to initialize OpenGL. Consult the manufacturer of your graphics card for a compatible OpenGL driver."
5 Which is followed by:6 and then continued by: 7
After this, After Effects completely crashes and refuses to open (giving the same error message as seen in picture 4).
I've got the crazy notion that it has something to do with my video card drivers (sarcasm). Every message seems to have something to do with the graphics card, and SpeedGrade is the only thing that I can't be sure of since it doesn't even begin to start up whenever I try to open it.
However, here's the catch; I have no idea what. Just now, I manually uninstalled all of my graphics card drivers and did a clean re-install of the newest NVIDIA GTX 970 drivers from here: NVIDIA DRIVERS GeForce Game Ready Driver WHQL
So I have the most updated drivers and most updated adobe software, and certainly have hardware that it's capable of using. I'm not sure what the issue is here.
Another thing that I would like to mention is that, when opening the NVIDIA control panel, I only have the following options:
89
I recall that, on other, older computers that I've used with NVIDIA cards and the NVIDIA control panel, there were many other otptions, such as the ability to control SLI and change 3D settings and whatnot. None of that exists here, and I can't even enable stereoscopic 3D. In fact, whenever I try to change anything in my extremely limited control panel, I just get the message shown in picture 9: "To use this feature, set the color depth to at least 32-bit."
Alright, to sum it all up once and for all:
I'm assuming the problem that all of these applications are having has something to do with the NVIDIA GTX 970 cards
Even with the most updated software, the problem still exists.
A list of all my programs was given in case any of them might, possibly, be interfering with Adobe.
This computer is brand-new, basically, and the SSD drives are all quite empty.
I am running 4 displays, 3 of which on the same GTX 970 and another using this product: JUA310 USB 3.0 VGA Display Adapter
Don't ask why I'm using that J5create product mentioned above, but I'll tell you that I have a feeling that it could, possibly, be interfering considering that it is basically its own graphics driver. I have means to support this display without using it, however, so please mention if I need to stop using it for troubleshooting or because it could be the source of the problems. Also, the other adobe applications seem to be working fine at the moment, but if they do ever have any problems, I might assume them to be caused by the same thing that's messing up all of these programs.
So what should I do?!?

I also forgot to mention a few things:
Windows 8.1 has successfully updated to its most recent version and installed all updates.
I'm using an MSI X99 Gaming 7 Motherboard.
It’s very urgent that I get these programs to work ASAP

• Photoshop CS5.1 Crashes Upon Opening: "Photoshop has encountered a problem with the display driver-"

Every time I try to open photoshop I get a window that pops up and says:
"Photoshop has encountered a problem with the display driver, and has temporarily disabled GPU enhancements. Check the video card manufacturer's website for the latest software.
GPU enhancements can be enable in the Performance panel of Preferences."
Then windows shuts the program down. The details of the problem are:
"Files that help describe the problem:
C:\Users\Owner\AppData\Local\Temp\WER70AD.tmp.WERInternalMetadata.xml
C:\Users\Owner\AppData\Local\Temp\WER9389.tmp.appcompat.txt
C:\Users\Owner\AppData\Local\Temp\WER9407.tmp.hdmp"
I'm on a custom Asus
I'm using Win7 Home Premium 64-bit
16GB RAM
Nvidia Geforce GTX 560 2GB video card
Intel i7 core 2.2 GHz
12 GB of memory
The error happens so quickly that I don't have time to do anything. Please help. >.< I've been on hold for *checks phone* 2 hours exactly. Wow. It is a legit copy and was working last month with no trouble. I've updated the drivers and tried a few solutions that have worked for other people that I found on Google (such as disabling CUDA and setting my "power management mode" to "prefer maximum performance" on my video card) but so far nothing has worked.
Thanks in advance!

It has stopped crashing because somehow it turned off "Enable GL Drawing" on its own because I could never even get a menu open. Not sure how it did that but I am grateful. I still get the error when I open Photoshop up but at least it hasn't crashed yet. At the time when it was crashing I never would have been able to get you the system info due to the speed that it was crashing upon just opening the program. In case you still need it:

• Can't install both GART driver and display driver!!

Ever since I got my k8n neo 2 + 3200 winchester for christmas I have had tons of problems. Problems that even come out of nowhere, like when one night when I was playing WoW, the game crashed and I eventually had to reformat. Ever since then I have been unable to install both the latest nforce GART driver and the nvdisplay driver at the same time. I can install either one seperately, but when both installed Windows boots up to a black screen. And there's nothing I can do about it. I've just gone with having only the display driver installed, but I noticed that my 6800GT has the bus listed as PCIx0 which is obviously incorrect, it should be AGP 8x. I'm pretty sure that is because the GART driver cannot be installed, as the GART driver has software to manage the AGP bus. I'm ALSO pretty sure that this is one of the reasons I get such pathetic performance in Doom 3. It dips down to 10-15 fps often, and it NEVER did that when I had my old P4 3.0 ghz. What gives? Does anybody have ANY suggestions as to why I can't have both of these drivers installed without windows just giving me a black screen???
I am so disappointed with this board that I don't see how I could ever bring myself to buy MSI again.

sarcasm = "A cutting, often ironic remark intended to wound."
That comment of mine you quoted was neither ironic nor intended to wound anybody or anything. I was simply voicing my disappointment in this motherboard, I have had many other problems with this board besides the one I am asking for help with right here. Please know what sarcasm means before you accuse me of using it. It's not my intent to get into trouble here. No hard feelings.

This is not a MB issue.
I never had this problem with my pc and drivers before I bought the Neo2. I am fully open to believing that my PSU is the problem, however.
Quote from: Tiresmoke on 09-March-05, 23:41:51
However as you didn't say it was a clean install
Sorry, I thought this was clear enough. (down)

I eventually had to reformat.
Anyway, I am going to find out my PSU volts in a moment. I will edit this post when I have found them.
Edit: Argh, I've never looked for PSU specs before. Can anybody tell me how to do that? PSU is high up in the case and I'd have to remove it to get a clean look, is there any other way of doing it? Sorry, a little embarrassing for me. I appreciate all of your suggestions. Thanks!

• Latest Windows 7 on latest Mac OS X via Boot Camp = display driver problems

I've just done (with difficulty) a Windows 7 installation via Boot Camp on my hot new Mac Quad. But when I use Photoshop Elements for Windows-- the problem may occur with other Windows applications too but I haven't tried them yet-- I'm getting frequent blackouts and recoveries accompanied by the now slightly infuriating error message, "DISPLAY DRIVER STOPPED RESPONDING AND HAS RECOVERED. Display driver Radeon ATI family stopped responding and has successfully recovered."
I'm also getting frequent spotty screens which suggest compatability problems. What gives? Are other people troubled by this? Seems to me that this is a problem crying out for an Apple software fix. But other people may have an answer now.

Did you uppdate to bootcamp 3.1? To update to 3.1 you need to have installed 3.0 from your Snow Leopard install disc. What version of the display driver are you using.
See this thread that just started too.
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2345677
3.1 solved the "display stopped responding" for me. Of course that introduced other issues.
Check your driver version and read here for other display issues fun...

• Windows 7 Display driver MBP 2011

Hello, I just purchased my new mac book pro 13' late july of this year and finally got around to installing windows 7 on this machine for my gaming laptop is dead.
I followed the instructions in bootcamp and burned a disc with the bootcamp software and installed it on windows and now everything works as far as keyboard and trackpad and I assume my display driver is working. I am able to WoW , Rift, EvE, and LoL fine with no lag and great texture quality. However I bought Metro 2033 off steam and when I attempted to run it I am getting a D3D error with my display driver. Now from what I understood these MBP are running GPUs from Nvidia? However I am not sure. Anyhow this error can be resolved by installing the most current up to date GPU drivers for my system, and I am having alot of trouble finding the driver under support.
When I goto nvidia driver scan it returns with check apple for most up to date drivers.
Any advice would be great, thanks.

Hi
First of all you should find out what graphic card is built-in.
Install an free hardware diagnostic tool. You could use Everest Home Edit. for example.
This would help you to get more details about your GPU.
After that you could investigate a little bit what Toshiba notebooks have been equipped with the same graphic card chip.
I noticed that many series use the same devices like the same graphic card or chipset
Anyway. The Toshiba US driver page contains many Win 7 drivers you will find also some Win 7 drivers on Toshiba European driver page
Download the ATI driver for a notebook which has been equipped with the same graphic chip and you would get the compatible one!
Then install the driver in device manager! Yes, go to device manager and use the advanced installation this allows you to point to the ATI driver files.
This installation procedure should work

• Macboook pro install win8 pro and display driver isssue

Dear all,
My macbook pro has installed windows 8 pro and currently has an issue with display driver NVIDIA GeForce 330M (Microsoft Coporation - wddm v1.20). After ugraded to this version (Microsoft Coporation - wddm v1.20) it seem that windows can not shutdown, I have to press the power button all the time.
Any one can help please.
Houng

If this was working fine before that Windows Update pushed the driver down, just uninstall that driver update in Windows. Or go into Device Manager and pick your video card and on the driver tab, click on Roll Back Driver. It'll put the old version back on there that the Bootcamp driver disk loaded. Of course, reloading that driver disk will also fix this in Windows.
BTW, don't ever use Windows Update to update drivers for core system components. Nothing but trouble about 65% of the time.

• Satellite M70-CLI - Can't install display driver or SM Bus Controller

Hello,
I have a Satellite M70-cli PSM73C-CL100E and I got a new hard drive and loaded Windows xp. I went to the Toshiba website and downloaded and installed all of the drivers. I didn't have any problems with the atheros wifi drivers, or sound, modem or chipset. I also updated the bios to v2.10 all with success.
The problem is with the video card. I used the program from huntersoft and know that the chipset is an ATI. Also it said its a ATIradeon xpress 200m with 128MB DDR shared video. When I try and install the ATI driver it says setup was unable to complete the installation. Try to setup your display adapter with a standard vga driver.
I have spent hours pouring over the net. I have tried the ATI L30 XP driver and it does the same thing. I have tried the ATI radeon xpress 200m driver and it says hardware not found. I don't have the original CD's. I know that it works as the old drive worked fine. Unfortunatly I wiped it as well to put in an older laptop. I should have got the drivers off of it. :(
Does any one have any idea? This is driving me crazy! Thanks for any help. Marilyn

I guess I should have been more specific.
I always install the chipset first and then the display driver.
I did only use the toshiba driver. If you read the post I said that it comes up with an error message that setup was unable to complete the installation and try to setup you display adapter with a standard vga driver.
I did install sp3 first before the drivers. I also updated the bios ( after I had trouble). I tried 3 times with the toshiba driver and then tried the ati xpress 200m.
The installation on that driver halts with a no video hardware found for this driver.
The only thing I can think of is that somehow the video card has become damaged. It doesn't make sense as it was working perftecly before the hard drive upgrade.
I am trying to get this laptop ready for a donation. I volunteer as a tech for a computer company.
We donate laptops and computers to people in need of help looking for jobs, ect.
Thanks for any help. Worse case senario is that I give them the laptop any way. It still works, just not that great of display.

ok i have a
A305-s6843 satellite
windows 64bit
and i have the
ati mobility radeon hd 3470
the driver version i have installed is 8.501.0.0
i want to install the newer driver i have found and it version is
8.632.1.2000
so my questions
1. where do i get it from
2. how do i install it since toshiba and the ccc dont play nice with each other

I belive my first question was
1. Where to get the file(driver) from *(*on the Toshiba web page the download section for my specific laptop does not include the most current drivers*)
and my second question was
how to install it ....(_*i wasn't sure if their was a different process than what is normal*_)
and to reply to your question ([~TwoLags]) as to (*_why_*) i need to updated my drivers.
I have already posted the answer to this question just click on the link [http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/10715.page;jsessionid=22B40359C82A8EADEACB766082FE 4AFE#4775|http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/10715.page;jsessionid=22B40359C82A8EADEACB766082FE 4AFE#47753]3 i provided in my previous post (*or this one*) it describes the problem i (*WAS*) having and the (*_solution_*)
So in conclusion........................................ .................................................. ..................
I have solved this problem by finding a more current (*toshiba*) driver for my video card and thus in the end my troubles are over
here is the download link to the (*toshiba*) driver I needed to update a *ATI RADEON MOBILITY HD 3470 VIDEO CARD to the 8.634.1.0 version*

(_and here is the page i got it from)_ [http://forums.amd.com/game/messageview.cfm?catid=264&threadid=129208]
it is post (_*#5*_) on the page i belive
[http://forums.amd.com/game/messageview.cfm?catid=264&threadid=129208]
just right click on the link and click open in a new window
In the end when trying to help someone who posts a clearly stated problem
(+*i want to install the newer driver*+) and (*where do i get it from*)
it is better to post the answer to the problem or not post anything at all like
+*_(Why you are search for other drivers? Is it so important or better? I don’t think so…)_*+
this is not helpful at all
but I want to thank you for answering my second question
(*_how to install it_*)
(remove the old version and restart your notebook. Then start the freeware tool “CCleaner” to clean the registry and restart again. After this*
install the Toshiba display driver)
this tells me that their is no unusual installation processes
I consider this matter closed and the help on this subject to rate a 2 out 10 (1 being the lowest rating and 10 being the highest )

• NVIDIA GTX560 Ti Twin Frozr II OC driver trouble

I've a NVIDIA GTX560 Ti and am having some trouble installing drivers. I have the latest one from the Nvidia website. 301.42
Whenever I try to install it, I get this error message.
I found a site that told me to add these lines to one of the .inf files in the Display.Driver folder in their respective sections:
%NVIDIA_DEV.0102.01% = Section012, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0102&SUBSYS_04911025
%NVIDIA_DEV.0102.01% = Section013, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0102&SUBSYS_04911025
NVIDIA_DEV.0102.01 = "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560Ti"
This allows me to start installing the driver, but before long it comes up with this error message.
I'm at a loss and I'm tired of this being a problem 6 months later.

Looks like I'm using the default intel GPU. Should I wipe that when I use driver sweeper too?

• T61 model 8898 Display driver stopped responding

Hi,
I own a Lenovo T61 notebook running Windows 7 (RTM). Very frequently when the computer resumes from standby, the screen will start flashing black and Windows shows "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered."
Sometimes it will never recover and just freeze or BSOD. The minidump shows GRAPHICS_DRIVER_TDR_FAULT.
The graphics board on this machine is Intel 965 Express and I'm using the latest version of the driver downloaded from Intel's site (8.15.10.1930).
This issue has been driving me crazy for quite some time and although I've been sticking to Thinkpads for years this is the first time I'm considering ditching them. I should also mention this happened when I was running Vista as well.
Has anyone experienced this? What should I do? The machine is under warranty but I'm pretty sure dropping it at the service center will do nothing but waste my time since this issue is not always reproducible and they'll probably just run some tests which will all pass and I'll end up with a re-imaged machine and the same problem.
Regards,
Danny

Just a thought, not sure if it will help. But see if you can install the most recent Lenovo driver instead of one from Intel.
I haven't tested used this particular display you mentioned, but with some other display drivers I have found that manufacturer's drivers are not as trouble free as the ones from Lenovo.
