Display drivers causing BSODs

Hello everyone,
I'm having problem with a brand new Windows 7, W530 machine.
I had problems related to BSODs that have been 'fixed' by changing out the motherboard, RAMs and a power cable.
Now I have a problem that whenever I start Photoshop CS6, or randomly, I get this BSOD. I am attaching a Drive folder with a minidump and a screen shot.
https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B_ueEWCEVdGDMnlicl9CcWZzeE0&usp=sharing
I am also unable to connect to my external display, as it seems that it doesn't know what to do, it switches screens in and out for a while, changes colors, then gives an error.
Please, let me know if there is anyhting I should try, or if this is a hardware problem.
Thanks!

When you switch to discrete, you should re-run the install from the package at http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS029106
Make sure your W530 is also running the latest BIOS.
See http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS029170 for that.

  • Drivers cause BSOD {URGENT}

    Good day
About 2 years ago I bought this laptop for a really good deal and i was impressed with the performance i got with it. Its quite a powerful and quality piece of tech.
    There are some drawbacks...
In the two years ive had it ive formatted the laptop twice. Once to upgrade to windows 8.1,  and now because windows got corrupted and it didnt want to use a restore point. Which is normal for windows, it doesnt last forever.
Drivers are a mess. Most i can gather is i'm suppose to download my laptop's drivers from here.
    http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-Pavilion-dv6-Entertainment-Notebook-PC-series/522...
There are 3 different wireless lan drivers, the chipset drivers cause BSOD's, i can install every single driver on the list and i still have about 4 unknown devices in my device manager.
Point is Im better off googling for the hardware ID's and scrubbing forums for my drivers.
Please could Someone supply me a link where i can download a complete Driver DVD image for my laptop model that works.  I am more than willing to download a 1.4 gig torrent if it has proper work everytime drivers.
Infact i would even drive to hp head office if they could supply me with a hardcopy.
    Help Please!
    Before i break something.
    Back on windows 7 btw

    Hi @Pixelite ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have looked into your issue about your HP Pavilion dv6-7030ei Notebook and needing a recovery disk. Here is a link to show you how to and or order the Recovery Media you need.
FWI: The driver page shows all drivers that were installed on all HP Pavilion  Notebooks.
I would uninstall all the drivers with a yellow mark or caution on it. Restart the Notebook and if they are still there right click on the device and install or update the drivers.
I hope this helps you out.
    Thanks.

  • Display adapter causing bsod

    hellloo
I am currently trying to fix my bsod issue with my evny dv6 64bit running windows 8 (16gb RAM, intel i7 8 cores), which has been happening since the first month I got it, for many different reasons.
Updating drivers and such has fixed a lot, but then a new error appears. At first I thought it was a RAM issue but that has so far come up clear (ran memtest for 24 hours, 8 passes no errors in fail safe mode, it crashed once when not in fail safe mode but I haven't been able to recreate it). recently I noticed that both intel HD 4000 graphics and NVIDIA are enabled, which it's apparently supposed to do. However, certain applications will run better, and without crashing, if I disable one.
For instance, the sims 3 will crash on the save game loading screen, but if I disable intel graphics, not only does the quality go waaay up, it won't crash on the loading screen. it is laggy, however.
minecraft won't play if only NVIDIA adapter is enabled. the picture won't show and it just won't respond. works if both are enabled. haven't managed to get it to crash if just intel graphics is enabled
Games are the only thing that makes the computer bluescreen. They're the only resource heavy programs I run (sometimes I use photoshop but as far as I can remember that has never resulted in bsod)
to my understanding, it's supposed to use NVIDIA for games and the such, but intel HD for everything else? is there the possibility of some kind of miscommunication going on with these adaptors to cause constant blue screens? or is the error more likely somewhere else?

  • Reader 9 causes BSOD on Windows XP Pro

We have a few systems here that are having real problems with Adobe Reader 9. When the users attempt to open a .pdf file, they get a BSOD, and the system reboots. Once the system comes back up, they are able to open the offending file with no problems.
Here are details of our systems:
    Dell Optiplex 755
    Windows XP Pro SP3
    2GB Ram
    32 Bit OS
I have found this occurs most often when opening pdf's that were created with earlier versions.
I'm sure I have left out some vital piece of information, so if you need clarification on something, please ask. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

[While the original post was for Reader 9, I found this same problem with Acrobat 9 Pro, and found a solution.]
Problem: Opening one PDF file is fine, but once you open the second file -- BSOD.
Cause: There is still a problem with Adobe's 2D GPU Acceleration feature.
Per http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb405218&sliceId=1, "If acceleration hardware is detected, then optimization is enabled for all files except the first one opened when Acrobat launches." That is why the first file opens OK, but the second causes BSOD.  Adobe is either not detecting acceleration hardware correctly, or is not calling it correctly.
    Temporary Solution:
      1.  In Acrobat or Adobe Reader, choose to Edit > Preferences.
      2.  Go to the Page Display panel.
      3.  Uncheck Use 2D GPU acceleration.
I tested my machine [Dell Optiplex 755, ATI Radion HD 2400 XT 8.420.0.0, Win XP Pro, Adobe 9 Pro] with "2D GPU acceleration" checked, attempted open of 4 PDFs from File Explorer -->first one opened, then BSOD, rebooted, unchecked "2D GPU", attempted the exact same operation --> all four opened in their windows and now I am happily typing on this page.
This is per http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=324073, which is a post from two years ago and relates to Adobe 8.  So, Dell has been fielding calls on this for at least two years.  Way to stick in there, Dell.  Two years ago, Adobe knew the problem ("You are using an desktop ATI video card with driver version 8.291 or 8.301 and have the Acrobat Page Display Preference 'Use 2D GPU acceleration' enabled." was what they said back then, and recommended updating the video drivers.  So, Dell stays with it, Adobe says to update your drivers.  Well, I bought an entirely new Dell to get the latest drivers and it didn't help.
    Permanent solution:
Adobe needs to get 2D GPU acceleration to really work (how about a line of code where you check whether it is going to work before you execute it?) or ship their product with that feature off by default.

  • H61M-P25(B3) Intel display drivers always crashing.

I am running the system as described in my sig.  This system is triple booting either Linux, Win 7 Pro or Win 8 Pro.  The problem I am describing is only relating to Win 8 Pro.
When booted in Win 8 Pro, this system is very reliable when staying in the Metro UI.  As soon as I switch to the traditional Desktop, very odd things occur.
    1) Random speckled pixels.  The symptoms usually start with this.
    2) Desktop apps take a longer and longer time to respond. At this stage I know it is time to reboot.
    3) igfx drivers will crash, either causing a BSOD, a restart of the igfx drivers or a total system lock.
I have run the MSI update tool, and all drivers are up-to-date.
Can anyone advise on how I can prevent the Intel display drivers crashing in Windows 8?
    Thanks
    MM

    I don't trust Live Update, download the drivers and install manually;

  • Satellite A300D-1EI - blue screen error - display drivers had failed

I 've bought my laptop a month ago.
Everything is working great except two "blue screen" errors caused by the graphics card.
Both were when the laptop was connected with TV through S-video port.
First was when the laptop display turned off after 15 minutes while watching a movie, on resume said that display drivers had failed and then I got the blue screen. Then I updated the display drivers from ATI's website and set the laptop display not to turn off.
All were ok with no problems, until last night when I got another message that display drivers had failed followed by a blue screen.
I am wondering if this is a driver's problem or is something wrong with my graphics card.
    System Info:
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo CPU T8400 @ 2.26 GHz
    Memory (RAM): 3.00 GB
System Type: 32-bit Windows Vista Home Premium
Display Adapter: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470

So long you use ATI driver from ATI support page there is no possibility to say anything about it.
This driver is not tested and Toshiba cannot offer any help about it.
So what you can do is to install OS again using recovery media and see what will happen in the future. Please test it intensively with clean preinstalled operating system. Don't install anything that can have some negative influence to this game or additional applications, codecs or something similar.
Test it please and let us know if the problem persists.
When you want to watch movies on TV at first switch to the TV and then start DVD player.

  • NVidia drivers cause system instability

    Hello,
I recently purchased an MSI 865 Neo2 FIS2R mother board.  Here is how
    I have it configured:
    o Power Supply - FSP400-60PFN 400W (3.3V/28A, 5V/40A, 12V/15A, 5VSB/2A,
    -5V/0.3A, -12V, 0.8A)
    o Processor - 2.8GHz P4
    o RAM - 2 512MB PC3200 Kingston HyperX CL2
    o RAID 0 - 2 Maxtor DiamondMax 9 Plus SATA drives.
    o Video - Aopen GF3Ti500
o Primary IDE Master - TDK Indi DVD 440N
o Secondary IDE Slave - 56X CDROM Drive
    o Floppy Drive
I installed Windows XP on the RAID without incident.  When I tried to
install the NVidia display drivers (45.23), the system became
unstable.  Specifically here is what I noticed:
o The black Windows start-up screen with the blue progress bar would
flicker between black & blue around the same spot each time.
o From the login screen, when I chose my account, it would
briefly show my desktop and then I would hear the relays in my monitor
click, the screen go black, a second click and my screen would be fine
    again.
o If I used the display properties control panel and chose the
advanced option, again, click, blackness, click, everything's OK.
o I noticed that when I tried to use Window's Media player to play a
CD, it would crash during the 2nd song.  It would crash sooner and
sooner each time I restarted it until it was crashing as soon as I
started it (assuming I didn't reboot).  After than IE would crash,
Windows Explorer might crash or the system might spontaneously reboot.
o After rebooting, the system would be less stable, with IE or Windows
explorer crashing sooner than before (without even using Media Player).
This would continue to get worse (across re-boots) until it would
start crashing while loading Windows XP.
MAT and DOT are in the default setting and I have not tried adjusting
    any voltages, etc.
If I booted in safe mode and uninstalled the display driver, everything
would return to normal and the system would run fine.  I checked the
IRQs to make sure that wasn't a problem.  I noticed a device from the
Intel Chipset and the VGA card were both sharing IRQ 16.  I don't know
much about this (including how to change an IRQ) so I tried disabling
the Intel device (it dealt with the USB and I have no USB devices
currently attached).  The system didn't seem to mind having that device
disabled.  I reinstalled the display drivers, but the system behaved
    exactly the same.
I also tried stepping down to the 44.03 version of the drivers but
they actually made the system worse (my screen split in half and
    things turned purple!).
I also tried swapping between the GF3Ti500 and a GeForce4 MMX 440 The
only difference is that while starting windows, the monitor would
briefly go black instead of flickering between black and blue.  Both
cards run fine in my old machine, an MSI NForce mobo, using the
    45.23 drivers.
Since the problems usually started when I was using Media Player, I
tried disabling the sound device.  The system seemed to run fine (with
the exception of the monitor clicking).  I could play movies with the
media player, browse with IE, etc. with no crashes.  I couldn't find
any resources conflicts between the sound and the vga card.
Windows trouble shooter suggested updating the mobo BIOS.  I was
previously running 1.3. I tried updating to 1.7.  The reflash seemed
to go fine.  But when I rebooted, all I got was a black screen (no
beep).  I looked at the D-Bracket and noticed that it was stuck on the
RTC test.  I don't think that's the problem.  The next step is
initialization of the video system.  I tried the emergency recovery
procedure (with the 1.7 BIOS).  It worked, but still the screen
remained black, stuck on the same test.
How do I get (either) video card to work?  And should I just leave the
system flashed to 1.7, or try to use the emergency recovery program to
    get back to 1.3?
    Thanks in advance!

Hey Guys.  Thanks for the help.  I don't doubt that the NVidia drivers are fine, they're just part of the puzzle.  Just to be sure, I got a new PSU.  Here are it's specs:
    +5V/40A, +12V/24A, +3.3V/32A, -5V/-0.5A, -12V/1.0A, +5V SB/2A, max load 530W.
As I mentioned earlier, I had tried updating the BIOS to 1.7, after which it sticks on the RTC test (see my original post for details).  After installing the new PSU, it still stuck on the RTC test.  I tried reflashing to 1.3, but now the memory test is failing.  Does that seem right?  The RTC test is after the memory test, so why should reflashing to 1.3 cause a memory failure?  I'm assuming the reflash didn't work correctly.  If I can get it to work (fingers crossed) I'll let you know what happens.

  • Tecra R850 - Display driver problem - BSOD

    Hi,
I own a Tecra R850 with the ATI HD 6450M, and every now and again it hangs and BSOD appears.
I've observed that mainly it happens when reproducing flash videos.
After checking System Events I've discovered it's a problem with the display card driver.
The event system says that may be a solution [here|http://wer.microsoft.com/Responses/Response.aspx/21682/en/5.1.2600.0.00000000.9.9?SGD=13feb1cd-4c8b-4c3a-aeee-ca4ca2c99729]
This webpage indicates that it is a bug in the driver and I must upgrade to the latest driver to solve de problem, and it provides a link to ATI webpage.
I've downloaded the drivers from ATI webpage and the installation program says that it is not compatible with Toshiba laptops.
I've checked Toshiba webpage and I already have the latest (and unique) driver for my display card.
As it appears on the webpage it's a driver bug, but Toshiba seems not to have released any update in the driver despite Ati has...
    Any one can help?
    Thanks,
    Jose.

    Hi Keany,
yes, I have the original preinstalled Windows, but I think I upgraded to the lastest display drivers. It has begun to happen a few weeks ago. Maybe it's related with the latest Flash updates...
How can I extract the original drivers from the recovery dvd?
The version of the drivers I am using right now is 8.801.2.3000 02/03/2011.
By the way, I don't know if its related but I'm using an external monitor. I don't work directly on the laptop, I have a keyboard, mouse and monitor connected to it.
Thanks a lot for your help.

  • Unable to install new display drivers

When I'm in Windows 7, I want to update my display drivers because the ones I have are very old. However, when I try to install them using the Catalyst-program from ATI, they say everything installed, but nothing is there. I've checked the install catalogue, but it's empty. I've checked on Device Manager on my display drivers, and it's still the old one.
The one I have installed is version 8.661.0.0, dated 2009-09-23. The newest one is like 10.2.
This is seemingly affecting the performance on my computer because I can't use the new drivers.
I've tried uninstalling the old ones and installing the new, didn't work. Tried using Driver Sweeper, didn't work. I don't know what to do, or if it's even possible to upgrade the drivers.
I have ATI Radeon HD 4850.
    null

I have installed the 10.3 on my 27" imac. i was able to play games on it with no problems.. xD
    installing it was pretty easy,
    1) install Catalyst 10.3 and follow the steps until you reached the finish page
    2) go to your Device Manager and look for Display Adapter
    3) click on it, and a sub tab should appear, mine was ATI radeon HD 4670
    4) right click and click update driver
    5) there should be 2 options which is search online and find on your disk...
    6) choose the second option
    7) that should bring you to the next page which you should click on the 'I have the file' option
    8) this should you bring you to a page with existing drivers
    9) click on have disk
    10) and search for the ATI file which you download.
    11) follow along the path, ATI>10_3xxxxxx>*something inbetween* > package>display>CL_xxx file ( i am currently not on the windows and just rambling based on memory, so pardon me.. =P)
    11) after selecting OK it should display a long list of drivers inwhich you just find yours
    12) install! the com should prompt you about how unsafe it is, but just click OK
    13) after the driver is install, it should be okay to try any games without any error.
I hope this help you, but i do have one problem... once i have installed the driver, it works fine, but when i restart my computer, it will have a BSOD and i would have to restart and reinstall the driver... i'm pretty sure something is wrong with it... so if anyone has the same problem and have found a solution, please do tell me!... xD

  • Skype crashes display drivers

Since Skype automatically downloaded its latest update about a month ago, something weird happens every time I try and make a call, whether video or just voice. On the first start of the computer, the program just crashes my PC, no BSOD or error messages, and I get a "No input" sign on my monitor, the PC quiets down and nothing happens. Once I restart the PC (which can only be done by laying the PC on its side and punching it as it's posting), the second attempt to make a Skype call works, but only after crashing my display drivers for about 30 seconds. I get the error message in the task bar this time. It happens like this every single time.
    My rig: CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q8300 | Mobo: Asus P5N-D LGA775 | RAM: 4.00GB DDR2-667 | Storage: WD Green 640GB | GPU: Sapphire R7 260X 1GB | PSU: Corsair CX430 | Monitor: Iiyama ProLite B2409HDS
    Recommended solutions that I've tried:
    Redownloading drivers
    Using older drivers
Using drivers from different websites (Sapphire, AMD)
    Redownloading Skype
    Reseating graphics card
Can anyone help with this? It's REALLY annoying. Thanks in advance.

  • R5970 causing BSOD!

Anyone can help me with this problem I have been having of late. Seems no one i know, knows how to fix this issue. Im using a R5970 graphics card with windows 7 64bit and every time i try to install the display drivers and restart my pc goes to blue screen and does not boot up. Only by removing the drivers in safe mode am I then able to boot up again. Have tried numerous methods of installing the drivers but nothing seems to work. It started when i installed ati catalyst 11.8 and even when i use older drivers now its the same issue. So long as any display driver is installed it crashes to bsod. Any idea what I can do to solve this issue?

Have not tested with another graphics card.
The R5970 used to work fine in my old system till i installed catalyst 11.8 drivers after which it crashed and never worked again despite using older drivers.
Have now built up a new system which are the specs i have listed but still does not function.
I remove drivers with driver sweeper every time in safe mode or pc will never boot up but only go to BSOD.
Have tried multiple times installing MSI vga drivers for the card but same result of BSOD.
As for detailed pc specifications im not entirely sure what it is you require and how to acquire them. I have built up the pc myself by purchasing the various parts.
PSU detailed specs as far as i can gather are : Intel ATX 12V version 2.3 800W (Brand AcBel R8 800)

  • I have a problem when using Google Maps, at some point my computer blanks the window and says there's a problem with display drivers, and it has recovered, but it doesn't. Problem doesn't happen with Int Explorrer, so I do not believe it is the computer

When using google maps through Firefox, after asking for a place which is not the general North America section which routinely comes up, the firefox screen goes white, with a narrow banner at the top. A message appears in the lower right corner which says something about display drivers having had a problem, but now have recovered. However the display doesn't recover and the banner message is that Firefox is not responding. When I go to restart Firefox if I go to the restore point, the page is still frozen out.
I do not believe it is a problem with my computer because it doesn't happen if I use I.E. to go to google maps, then G-maps works normally.
This phenomenon did not happen before the latest upgrade to either Google or Firefox. I have used Fiefox for a number of years and also Google Maps on previous computers and on this one, and not had this before.
This is a relatively young computer (Asus EeSlate 121) less than a year old. I have used Firefox since I bought it and until recently had no problem with Google Maps.

I solved it myself, after the "note" which came back from FF/Mozilla just as I finished my message, commenting on what it was that my system had , I wnnt back to check my plug-ins etc. I downloaded the latest Java, BOTH 32bit AND 64 bit versions and latest Firefox.
    Now all is working.
    Thanks,

  • I have a macbook pro, and i want to transfer my hard drive from my macbook, but the display drivers and such are different.  How do i do this?

I have a macbook pro, and i want to transfer my hard drive from my macbook (500g), but the display drivers and such are different.  How do i do this and is it possible?
The Macbook Pro has Mac OS X 10.4.11 (70g hard drive)
The Macbook has Mac OS X 10.6.8 (500g hard drive)

The MacBook's hard drive lacks the necessary hardware drivers to boot the MacBook Pro even though it has a much newer OS on it; that's why simply moving it into the Pro doesn't work. Presumably you have a very old MB Pro, because only the very first MB Pro model (produced January to May 2006) was ever offered with an 80GB hard drive. Are you sure you want to move your big drive into such an old machine? The MacBook must be newer, because the first MacBook was introduced just as the first Pro model was discontinued.
